For now, I'm reserving my judgment on the sword aspect, but she does bear a striking resemblance to the Great Fairy Queen from WindWaker and FourSword Adventures.

That looks an awful lot like the Great Fairy from Wind Waker, actually. Or is it just me?? xp if Nintendo makes that the sword, I'm gonna go apeshit... That's REALLY piss me off.

Then you'll either love it, but deny it, or just not really care for it, and continue to b***h before realizing that nobody respects your opinion, because people stop caring about it being the sword. I agree that this spirit-like image we see behind Link is somehow related to Link's sword.
On IGN, I read an article that had an in-depth comparison with Link's Master Sword and the silhouette behind Link. I wish I could find the article now but I doubt it's available anymore with the news that has come after it for other games at IGN.
I believe this to be your fairy/Midna/character that talks to you and gives you advice or guidance. The main difference is that it is probably the "essence", or "light energy", of the Master Sword and that it comes alive based on some event of necessity.
I'm very curious how the story of the game will lead us in this direction with this spirit.

well I've thought about it, I'm thinking maybe it's a story about the creation of the sword itself. That or it's there to wreck peoples s**t and Shigeru plans to give this project his all. In a new direction (hopefully)
I sparsely remember watching E3 about something being discussed.
I'd bet against ^^

I see some shadow around link's hat that resemble an eye, but I don't think something's supposed to be visible there... Maybe take a trip to MSpaint and point out what you mean?

It kinda looks like Ganon's Eye right around the tip of Link's hat. I want more Skull Kid. EDIT - I found the other eye. EDIT EDIT- Normal Pic -  Eyes -  EDIT EDIT EDIT - I think there is a smile between the Shield and Link's Hand
