Hargun couldnt decide how to answer. a) The truth.. b) A reassuring lie or c) pretend she didnt hear. As much as she wanted to go with c, it was kinda obvious that she heard it with those enormous ears.

"Well, he's the boss around here.. director I guess you could say." she made a shrug. Wasnt very convincing, considered being an 'actor' and all..

Joliette quirked a brow "The director? I was told there was no director as yet" she said looking somewhat confused as she unlocked the duplex and opened hte door walking in "Come on in"

She'd obviously not taken time to unpack anything for it was all in a pile with her huge telephoto lens was lens down on the floor beside it. Only a small bag for clothing, but she had a lot of photography equipment bags, camera bags and a laptop with a mini portable printer.

She looked breifly at the 'script' on the desk but left it and sat down on the end of the bed

Hargun looked suprised. "Told no director-" she began then laughed. "Im sorry.. did I say director? Hes one of the characters. His role is so important that we consider him director."

Wow Hargun youre really bad at this. But why in the hell would they say 'no director?' she thought and looked around as they entered the duplex. She took off her glasses and spotted where the lights were, before she would have a chance to turn em on. Just so she wouldnt end up staring right into one when she flipped the switch.

She popped in a few more ants then picked the script after she did and flipped through it, almost laughing at how untrue everything was.

"The script" Joliette said with a nod between bites watching Hargun skim it. she put her plate to one side "Ugh how can one go from feeling in their prime to feeling very sore all over in so short a time I don't know" she said

Hargun walked over to Joliette and looked down at her. "Hmm.. youre still feeling sore?" she tried to catch glimses of her arm for injection marks without making it seem obvious she was looking for it.

"Well, I dont want to leave you, but maybe you just need alone time to rest?" she asked and eyed the door.

"I suppose perhaps I might" she admitted looking at the clock on the wall " I have enjoyed your company, if it doesn't keep you from your work I would enjoy getting together again" she nodded, rubbing her sore arm without really thinking about it

Hargun's eyes widened before she turned around for the door. She was rubbing her arm.. and that was all the she needed to know from there. It was too late for sure, but if Dude could find that boat, maybe thing swould turn around.

"Thanks, Ive enjoyed your company too." she quickly smiled. "I live in duplex 16, so feel free to drop by. Ill probably be awake unless its right before lunch.. then usually Im sleeping in." she grinned, then started walking towards the door, using her two thumbs to work at the doorknob. After finally getting it open she turned around and waved before shutting it and returning to her duplex.

((and wrap for me!))

Joliette nodded and cleared the plate off the end of the bed and capping up her camera equipment. She was tired, she hurt in places she thought shouldn't hurt from simply getting sick. With a sigh she collapsed into bed and pulled the covers over herself soon falling asleep

Nothing Like Reliving the Past

It did not take long for the journalist to fall asleep. Though it was a sleep she would rather have not had.

Cattle everywhere she was looking through the viewfinder of her camera. Flashes of light, after a few flashes it changed, it was yet another scene of the cattle but no, at the same time it wasn't! They had no heads, they had no feet, they had no insides or pelts those were in a pile elsewhere. and though the scene seemed darker it was one she had seen before. More flashes of light! Scenes flashed before her, like a slide-show with flashes of light in between. She was reliving every photo she took for her assignment in the beef processing plant.

A creature, a large one, a crocodile? no... not a alligator either... The creature snapped it's jaws onto that of the leg of an animal...

Joliette sat bolt upright in a cold sweat, she looked around, she was in that room, the one Mr. Sabin had brought her to, or at least she assumed he did since he was there when she woke up. Then the telltale memory of the taste of meat filled her mind and she bolted from her bed in search of the bathroom barely making it to the toilet before losing her supper

"What has happened, I've never had dreams like that before" she groaned leaning over the toilet but holding the back of the tank to stay upright. She wasn't sure she was going to be able to go back to sleep and a glance out of the window told her it was still in the middle of the night... "Maybe a shower will help" she told herself before stripping and turning the water on wanting to wash the sweat away.

Joliette stayed in the shower for a long time letting the hot water run over her, she stayed until her fingertips were pruney before climbing out, wrapping herself in a towel and wandering back into the room and flopping back on the bed "Nope, can't" she said quietly after a time. She got dressed in one of her only spare outfits and grabbed an armchair and her keys pulling it outside she dropped onto it and stuffed the keys in her pocket letting the door close as she stared up at the night sky

Joliette Goes Wandering and Meets Amaya
(AIM RP Log)
User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

Amaya lay on a towel on the beach, her headphones blaring Black Betty into her ears. Her head bobbed as she lay with her legs propped up and her large feet bobbing. She was just wearing her swimsuit this time, letting her scales absorb as much sun as they could for the time being. Even though basking in her room warmer her, the thought of letting the sun do it was getting increasingly better in her mind. Green eyes remained closed as she basked in the hot afternoon sun, oblivious to her surroundings.

Joliette had abandoned her armchair by early morning and gone wandering, by now she was, well... lost. Well ok maybe not completely lost, she knew she was on the island, and she knew she was coming up on a beach, but beyond that she didn't really know where she had wound up. She stopped on the sand not quite realizing she was near anyone as she looked through the viewfinder of her camera out into the ocean

The young girl still didn't seem to notice Joliette's presence, her eyes still closed and her head and feet tapping to the beat that blared through her headphones.

Joliette let her camera down and looked around, the sound of the music had seemed almost faint but she came to realize it wasn't all that far from her when she saw the headphones the girl wore "Uhm, hello?" she said walking a little closer

Getting the feeling she was being approached, Amaya opened her eyes and looked up at Joliette. Who was...? She squinted before her eyes widened, a screech coming from her mouth as she grabbed her towel and used it to hide herself. It wasn't her modesty thing kicking in... well, kind. But this women looked new and the last thing she needed was having to 'spill the beans' to another person. Awen was enough. The headphones had fallen off and now hung around her neck, blaring the music into the open air before the young girl reached over into her pupkin shaped bookbag and turned it off.

Joliette looked a startled, not to mention like she hadn't gotten much sleep. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to startle you" she said in her British accent. She sounded a bit shy as she spoke.

"N-No... it's okay." Well, she didn't seem to be flipping out over her very evident scales yet... Lowering her towel, she wrapped it around her waist and stood up shakily. Her new feet didn't like the sand at all. "Uhm... guess your new here, eh?" Her accent was one from the States, probably generating from Pennsylvania since she seemed to link her words together as she spoke and sometimes cut them out altogether.

"Yes, I am new here" she admitted with a nod of her head, she didn't think much about the scales, to Joliette, she was another actress, though the whole thing was becoming rather confusing "I'm a photo journalist, found this island yesterday"

"Photo journalist...?" Amaya raised a brow, only vaguely knowing what that was... but that wasn't the point. Did she just say she had... found this island? She looked surprised and blinked at Joliette. "Wait, did you just say you FOUND this island? How?"

Joliette looked out towards the water "On my boat, heard rumors that disappearances around this area weren't just plain disappearances. Though I must admit the one that drew my interest the most was Mr DiRossi. Quite interesting to discover a movie in production" she nodded

"Boat?" Amaya's eyes went to saucers but then she physically deflated. Moreau had probably already taken the boat away and had it destroyed... dammit. She slumped and sighed. So this women came here for a scoop and got sucked in like everyone else; how sad. And to make matters worse, she thought this place was a damn MOVIE set. ugh, just like Vasile. Poor lady. "So they told you all of this is a movie? I'm guessing they gave you a script, too."

She nodded and looked back to the young lady "Yes, on both counts" she confirms "Should make an interesting story, though I'm certain many will be upset to learn the star faked his death" she was sounding a lil more confident, it's how she always was when it came to her work, confident and perfectionist...

Sighing, Amaya plopped back down on the sand and let her arms cross over her knees. Her long toes played in the sand much like fingers would if they had less joints. "Poor Vasile... they think he's dead." She frowned, thinking. "Do you know what their saying out there about a collage student named Ambrose?"

Joliette quirked a brow, it was that name again, the name Vasile had said "No, I'm not familiar with that name" she says scratching her chin in thought. "Well not before arriving here at least, Mr. DiRossi mentioned having to go get him while I was on my boat"

Damn. Poor Ambrose. Amaya slumped even more and let her chin rest on her scaly arms. "Oh well, no hurt in asking I suppose." With another sigh, she looked back up at Joliette. "So what did they say to get you off your boat?"

"Off my boat? Oh, I was offered an exclusive, I have several rolls of film but an exclusive on an upcoming movie, now that is worth some good money, it's something I can sell to the highest bidder" Joliette smiled at that thought

Amaya tried to refrain from sighing again. "I see... did they by chance give you an injection?" She held out her arm and pointed to where she had been given her's.

Joliette's smile slipped "I most certainly hope not, I turned down the immunization Mr Sabin offered me, I do not believe in those, I am a vegan through and through" she nods seriously.

"Well, did you check your arm? Or did it hurt afterwards or did you have any weird dreams? That's what happened when they gave me mine." Amaya blinked, a brow raised.

She stares at the young woman for a moment "Weird... dreams..." she visibly paled, how would this young woman possibly know what had kept her awake almost half the night. But then... she had blacked out, she didn't know what HAD happened and how they had made her better...

Amaya frowned as she watched the woman pale and immediately felt bad for bringing all this down on her when it probably was only her second or third day on the island. "Check your arm." She spoke softly, not wanting to act TOO casual about it for fear of her thinking it a joke. And she was generally concerned for her.

Joliette's mind snapped back to attention when she was spoken to again, and with hesitation she turned her head and lifted her arm pushing the already short sleeve a little higher up her arm . Indeed almost like a spider bite a small inflamed area was on her arm "How dare he... " she said incredulously

"Thought so. They probably called it an immunization for Dengue Fever or something like that, right?" The young girl asked, her eyes going back up to Joliette.

She nodded "Yes, after I started to get sick in the meeting with Mr Sabin... He said there was a particularly bad strain of it going around" She felt an almost overwhelming need to sit down and moved to sit on the nearest chunk of driftwood

"I see..." Amaya looked back down to her feet as she shoved them in and out of the sand, letting the tiny grains shift through her toes. "I know you won't believe me if I tell you the truth, but will you hear me out anyway?" She looked back at Joliette.

"Yes.. I'll hear you out, you've seemed so far the most straight forward one I have met save for the blue haired young woman.. Awen is it? She was screaming at Hargun and them last night..." She looked a lil dazed but alert enough to listen

Awen yelled at Hargun? Uh-oh... she'd have to go ask her batty friend later what exactly happened. But first she needed to tend to the new resident. "Well, this isn't a movie. Doctor Moreau is slowly bringing people here for his stupid... medical research where he gradually turns people into animals. He lies to them to reel them in, in your case it was a movie set. He gave you the same script they gave Vasile to trick him too, I'm guessing. It'll be hard to believe, but any sane person wouldn't believe what I'm saying anyway... so I won't be offended if you don't." Amaya paused for a moment to take a breath. "I was brought here in hopes this was some kind of retreat for orphaned teenagers. It wasn't, obviously."

Joliette stared digesting all this information "Are you meaning to tell me the costumes I've seen... aren't costumes? and.. who is Doctor Moreau? I've never met anyone by that name" she looked flabbergasted, and as though she was trying to justify this in her mind

"Yeah, look. These are my REAL feet." Amaya held up her elongated toes and curled them, then reached up with her clawed fingers and pulled at them. "My feet. My claws. My scales. All of it's real. I even have a lizard tounge. I'm not sure if they can prostetic that in the real world yet." She stuck her large, pink tounge out to show her just long enough before drawing it back in. Amaya could taste Joliette's surprise and confusion, which made her wince. "And Doctor Moreau is the guy who's got us all trapped here. He's the one doing all this to us."

Her mind replayed everything she had seen the day before, the star with his silvery grey tail and patches of fur, Hargun with her 'costume', the guy named Ian with his little.. antlers? Awen well she seemed normal in her mind and then there was the Dude, his hands hadn't looked or felt normal when he grabbed her hand to pull her towards the beach "That would explain everyones desire to find my boat..." she nearly whispered

"Definetaly." Amaya nodded and drew her legs to her chest, hugging them. "Boat means a way to get off this stupid island. A lot of people Moreau has brought here have families back home... and Vasile had been tricked here for some reason because I guess people wanted to get rid of him. That's why they say he's dead, prolly. Were stuck on this island the rest of our lives."

Joliette nodded "I have family, but just my parents and granparents" she tells the girl with a soft sigh "I'm Joliette by the way" she says realizing she never had said her name and regardless of her British accent the name sounded very french

"Amaya." She held out her scaly hand to offer a handshake, but didn't say anything about her own family.

After a moment of looking a the hand Joliette took it in her own and gave her a solid handshake. "So animals, and whatever they gave me will do it to me... too?" she sounded nervous

Amaya nodded gravely and went back to her curled up sitting position after shaking her hand. "Yeah, happens to everyone. I dunno exactly what I'm supossed to be but it looks like a lizard. I'm even cold-blooded now... which is why I was out here in the sun basking."

She nodded "Guess it helps you dont have to deal with much cool weather then..." she bit her lip, this whole conversation was beginning to put all her confusion into focus and she didn't like the results "Is everyone different animals then?"

"True and yeah, as far as I know. You said you met Mister Dude and Hargun, right? Hargun is some kind of bat and Dude is a sealion."

She nodded and looked at her arm again involuntarily shivering "ironic..." she mused "I've believed immunizations were cruel to animals ever since I became a vegan... "

"And now that immunization is turning you into one." Amaya sighed, letting her shoulders hunch.

"Yeah..." she looked at her camera again "You know... if I'm stuck here, maybe I can find a way to use my skills to a good use..." she remembered the silly playful pose of Hargun that would still be on the roll of film inside her camera

"How so?" Amaya blinked and looked back at Joliette, interested.

"Well you said everyone is changing, I'm gathering from your expression and the scene I witnessed in the cafeteria last night people dont like that, if I had some way to develope my film, like a dark room or something perhaps I could give people an extra way to remember how they once were" She was thinking and pondering this

"Some people already have that. I have a picture of how I used to look in my room and in this." Amaya held up her locket, but didn't open it. "Ambrose has a picture of himself with his girlfriend too."

Joliette nodded she wasn't sure what to say, she guessed she'd have to think that one more through before bringing it up again "Yeah.." she sighed and looked towards the water "Now I regret my curiousity for a good story, and my perfectionist side as well"

"Even though it's hard, try not to think about it." Amaya stood up and grabbed her backpack before putting it on. "I find that's the best way for me to handle things." She gave the woman a slightly forced smile and patted her shoulder. "I'm gonna head off and leave you to your thinking. I'm in duplex 20 if you need anything or want to talk."

"Yes Thanks, I appreciate your forward honesty, I'm in 27," she looked up at Amaya, have a decent day" she nods

"You too. See ya around." With one last wave, Amaya headed back to her duplex.

Bumping into Awen.. And Hargun... and Ambrose... and a Father?
(AIM RP Log)
User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

Joliette wandered into the village some time after Amaya had left her on the beach, for once her camera was capped, she was trudging along still not quite sure where anything was and considered herself lucky to have found the village again, but she had simply gone the same direction Amaya had. She looked in thought and visibly was still overtired having had little sleep the night before.

Awen saw Joliette from the corner of her eye. She knew what trouble there was before when she had met the girl, and Awen knew she would force more of the truth upon the poor girl should they encounter. So for Joilette's sake Awen turned and seemed not to even notice the girl slowly, yet casually creeping off in one direction...

Movement caught hte corner of her eye and she looked up, it was the girl from teh night before, the one she'd barely gotten to say anything to before she rushed away. "Hello" Joli said loud enough she hoped the girl would hear her even though her voice sounded a lil weary

Awen stoped in her tracks and sighed. She had been spotted..... It's not as if she didn't like the girl or anything. But she didn't care to get yelled at by anyone today as she had the other day. She didn't need all the islanders hating her or anything.... She turned around and gave the new girl a smile. "Hey there"

Joliette changed her direction of trudging heading towards the girl hands in her pockets "How are you today?" she asked hoping she had gotten past the anger she seemed to have held the day before

"Fine fine..." She sighed a little bit and look u--down at the girl and smield apologetically. "Hey sorry about yesterday...you know..just...yeah..."

She nodded "Yeah I do, I can understand where you are coming from, honest, so don't worry about it" her eyes looked at Awen's features, well around her face at least, it didn't appear Awen had 'changed' yet

Awen blinked a little bit. "So...the others finally decided to go along the truth?" She tilted her head. "They didn't chalk my scene up to 'acting' "

"No, they didn't" she admitted "I found out this morning on the beach, a girl named Amaya told me" she bit her lip "It's a lot to take in"

Awen placed her hand gently on the girl's shoulder. "I'm sorry... I know it's hard." She said so softly. "But, it's better to find out now...."

Joliette nodded "Yeah, I suppose it is, it certainly wasn't what I expected" she pulled a hand from her pocket and put it on her opposite arm, the one which had the mark of an injection "Sure would like to know what he did to make me pass out though"

Awen's brain froze. Doctor Sabin? No no no... It couldn't have been! Sabin was changing into...well... she wasn't sure what, but he was at the party and had those pointed ears. He had acted just like a patient. "Sabin, you said...?" She knew it was probably a different Sabin...though she didn't think it was a popular name..but it was possible. "What'd he look like?"

"Loud obnoxious tourist like clothing.. his white hair was tied back in a messy pony tail and he had a french accent" she said after thinking for a moment "Came to the beach with a lady in a jeep, if I had a way to develope my film I'd just show you"

French accent....that did it it was Sabin. But.. he was... But it clued into her mind. That was the predatory gaze she saw in him. He wasn't turning into a predator, he was the predator. But at the same time he didn't seem so bad. Not all the staff were... as rude as Moreau. "Film you say? Oh right that camrea..." She leaned closer inspecting it and whistled slightly. "Nice piece of equipment...."

She lifted hte camera "Thanks, it's one of many pieces I had brought with me, the camera lens I used when I was taking pictures of hte isle is a telescopic one..."

Stewart had finally dragged himself out of his duplex. It must of been jet-lag, because he had been dead tired . For the first time in days he was wide awake and exploring the village. Where was everyone? He wondered looking around.

She looked at the camera grinning a little bit. "Pretty sweet stuff though..." She straightened back up and saw someone new over Joliette's shoulder, a feat which Awen was happy to report wasn't hard at all to do. "Another one...."

Joli turned to see what Awen was talking to "Hmm a wayward father" she mused lifting her camera to snap a real quick photo but she left hte flash turned off

Stewart was starting to get a bit worried, where were the natives? He paused for a moment, looking confused... Did he hear something click? Or was it just his nerves?

She saw the confused look on his face and decided to maybe help him out...? "Hello there." She said and waved a little in his direction.

Joliette's face was more of a poker face but she couldn't help but inwardly chuckle when he seemed to hear her camera "Hello" she echoed

"Oh, hello" He said looking a bit surprized, but quickly regained his 'cool'. "...Are you two here to help with the mission trip too?" He asked, still oblivious to the truth.

"Mission..trip?" Now she wondered if this could be legitimate. After all, with all the... not so holy things on the island a mission trip might be legitemate. "What mission trip?"

Joliette looked up at Awen for a moment and shook her head "Somehow I dont know if they'd bring a father here after what I've heard"

Now Stewart was really confused... How could they not know about the mission trip. "I was sent here to help out the natives on this island. But it seems that the kind Doctor has already done so much for these poor people"

"Well... the Doctor does provide a lot for us." Awen smiled brightly. She still wondered if he knew... She just assumed natives of the island meant hte islanders already there. "But as far as I know there isn't a religious structure here. I don't really know if the Doctor is a religious man himself, personally I doubt it, but maybe he wants to help the islanders through the tough transition.

Joliette had to be blunt, she couldn't help it, it hadn't been a great day and she really was still quite tired "Did you get an 'immunization' " she asked after a moment of pondering hte situation

"Y-Yes I did." He said looking at Joliette "But what does that have to do with anything? It's prefectly normal to get shots to prevent tropical diseases."

Awen frowned instantly. So he didn't know... "I... hate to say but the injection isn't for... diseases." She sighed a little bit. "More lies Doctor..?" She mumbled to herself.

Joliette nodded her agreement to awen's statement "I learned that this morning" she agreed

Hargun decided to head out to the village this afternoon. Maybe shed run into Joliette or someone she knew. However once she was in range, she began to her conversation, And one of them was Awen. Now would be a good time to apologize for yesterday, but it took her a bit of courage to head towards their direction. However once in sight, she sheepishly waved and called. "Heya guys." She had forgotten that when hearing earlier there was an unfamiliar voice in the bunch. Hopefully he wouldnt mind...

Stewart didn't know how to react when he saw the newest member to the group. The voice was of a normal human girl, but she appeared to be some kind of demon. Clutching his Rosary in one hand and stepping backward. Stewart began to recite the Lord's Prayer, it was the only thing keeping him from screaming. What was this place? Hell?!?

Awen quickly stepped forward and placed a gentle hand on the preacher' shoulder. "Calm down now.... It's okay. This is Hargun, she's not going to hurt you." She said softly to him. "She's an islander." Awen gulped a little bit. "Just calm down..." She looked up at Hargun and gave her a little smiled greeting. Hesitant though from the night before. "Hey Har..."

"Thats what the immunization is aparently supposed to do.. She's a bat" Joliette added quietly and looked towards Hargun unsure if she should be upset with her or not "Hi Hargun" she added

Hargun paused and quirked a brow at the man apparently freaking out. "Hi Awen, Joliette." she looked down and sighed. "Hey, Im.. Im really sorry about the other night Awen. I didnt mean for things to go outta hand like that, and such.." she turned to Joliette. "And so now you know the truth I presume? I bet you really dont like me now." she said with a lame grin.

"No...No way" He said still not believing what he was seeing "There is no way a shot can do this, no tool of man can cause that. She is obvisouly posessed."He said, attempting to connect it all.

Ambrose had had a long day previously, and set out of his duplex the next afternoon, surprised as he saw a large group forming in the middle of their 'village.' He was dressed in a short-sleeved polo and long khakis, but that did little to hide his feral appearance. Swallowing, and telling himself again that he would have to get used to this, he approached the group, despite the fact that Hargun was the only one there that he knew that well And her last reaction had been less than comforting. "H... Hi guys.." He said mustering courage, and looking warily at the two completely unfamiliar faces.

Awen turned to Andy as he approched Oh..crap. She smiled breifly to him but grabbed the preachers shoulders. "Hey Andy!" She said quickly. "Newlings to the island." She started pulling the preacher away. "I think he needs some air." She was all for the truth but not this, especially not for a religious person, he's acting like they're demons. "Hey How about we get you a glass of water?"

Joliette turned and blinked, ok somehow she should be startled or maybe surprised, the day before she would have thought it a costume but now she knew better. "Bye Awen... Father" she said to them her mind still distracted by the approaching male

Hargun looked rather pitiful now. Maybe Awen was still mad at her, or itwas just that freaked out man. She waved anyways. As soon as Ambrose appeared though she leapt and runned over to him and stared him in the eyes. "Ambrose, I am REALLY sorry about when we were talking with Greer! Im sorry!" she repeated. "I shouldnt have freaked out like I did.. but can you forgive me please?" she asked, putting on a bit of a dramatic show in front of Joliette, but didnt quite care.

Ambrose did a doubletake at the new figure that was being quickly ushured away by Awen. Dear God, it was a priest. His tail immediately tucked and that self-consciousness returned. Maybe.. it was for the best that he was leaving. But before he could say anything or introduce himself, Hargun was in his face. His expression softened, and his tail even wagged a little. "It... it's fine Hargun." He smiled. "Really. I.. I appreaciate your apology. I was just... I was just overly sensitive ... it was right after my change... and I know we're all going through a tough time. To be honest... situations reversed, I might have done the same thing. There's no right or wrong way to feel. I'm glad you were honest." He patted her on the shoulder, then.. realized that another new face was still there.

Joliette heard the name and it clicked easily. with a inhale of breath she walked towards the pair "So you are the Ambrose I keep hearing the name of... " she said biting her lip a lil

Hargun sighed with relief. The guilt had been nagging at her for several days now and getting out helped a lot. "Okay... good to hear I didnt completely offend you." She then turned to Joliette and held out her arm. "This here is Joliette. New to the island. No longer to the plot." she said with a sympathetic frown.

Ambrose nodded. The apology did help... and really, he couldn't blame Hargun. It had been eating at him, but he wouldn't tell her. She coudl get used to him... and they could continue here. Be some semblance of happy Ambrose gave a small bow with a smile to Joliette. "You've heard of me? I'm not sure if I should be flattered or worried." He gave an awkward laugh. "When did you arrive?"

Joliette scratched her scalp and looked a lil embarrassed specifically for the whole movie thing "Yeah, Mr DiRossi said he had to go get you, and Amaya was refering to you... I got here midday yesterday"

Hargun nodded along to what she was saying, then exclaimed. "She had a boat.. but after m her and the Dude went looking for it we couldnt find it... You havent seen it along the beaches have you Ambrose?" she asked.

"OH!" Ambrose said, realization dawning. "That was YOUR boat?? Vasile came to get me... we ran to the beach to see... but by the time we got there Moreau had already found it... was dissassembling it! I'm so sorry.. Unlike most of us, you weren't brought here... and you didn't even crash here. You had a boat, a way off... because you stopped now you're in the mess with the rest of us." He winced. "Vasile tried to approach the boat, despite Moreau's warnings. All he got for his courage was put to sleep like the Dude was at the party..." Ambrose sighed. "He hadn't known about that..."

"Oh no... well I guess I dont have to ever worry about my credit rating anymore anyways" she sighed "Yeah, course I didn't even know I was trapped here till like this morning" She nodded

"No way! He used the sleeping thing on Vasile too?!" Hargun shouted, looking quite disturbed. "Hes.. hes ******** crazy!" she sputtered. It was supising once, but a second time.. it was becoming creepily repetitive.

"That's one way to look at it at least.." Ambrose said sympathetically. "And I agree, Hargun. He's getting worse, if you ask me. Since the party. He's taking this too far." His ears pressed back against his head, his lip taking a bit of a curl to it as he spoke. "He seems to be enjoying abusing his power even more than he used to. And I want to know how the hell he's doing this to us." He finished adamantly. With a sigh he shook his head. "Anyway. I'm sorry about this, Joliette. But... if you need anything, at least us subjects, despite our appearances, are pretty friendly.." "But unfortunatley I was on my way to go by the entertainment room... check something out there. I'll see you around, I'm certain."

Joliette nodded "Yes I've noticed the kindness thusfar.. It was nice to finally meet you ambrose... " she hesitated a moment then stuck her hand out to him

Hargun tried to smile. "Hopefully we'll knock him off his throne soon enough." she said and gave Ambrose a hug before saying, Take care man!"

Ambrose smiled, glad she had the courage to initiate a touch, and reached out his own furry hand to shake hers. "It was nice meeting you as well." He squeezed for a moment before parting, and, after returnin the hug to Hargun waved to the two of them. "Take care. I'm around if you need me for anything!" And trotted off towards the side of the large building in the middle of the village.

Hargun grinned. "Im sure you'd think my hand is even stranger.." she said and held out her long webby fingers. "Well.. so you know our story.. and how big of a b*****d Doctor Moreau is." she said and put her 'wrists' on her hip.

"Yeah.. I do, I still haven't met this moreau 'character' though" she said looking at Hargun's hand "I guess we can tell Dude to stop looking" she sounded down about that "I feel so stupid now, first for believing Sabin, and then for the way I acted with all of you" she said not sounding overly confident

"Oh well, when you see him youll recognize him probaly." she said and frowned at her tone. "No.. no dont. I was fooled for over 4 days, and I felt a bit dum for beilieving this place would be the ideal place to get inspired for college. I was told it was an art community." she kicked the sandly lightly. "I shouldnt have lied to you. but it only seemed right. We dont need people comming here and being heartboken the moment they get settled in though." she said and smiled warmly.

Joliette nodded and took a deep breath, "They chose a convenient place though. I had to pay high insurance costs to get the boat when I rented it... So you are an artist?" she asked curiously

"Yea.. not anymore though." she grumbled and waed her hands in her own face as if tellingherself she was retarded. "I think I was purposefully given these. Its like.. punishment for no reason."

"You might find some other way to continue your art" she bit her lip thinking about how Hargun had called it 'punishment'. She moved her hand to her arm lifting hte edge a bit looking at hte redened area before putting her hand on it "Make me wonder what they have in store for me... photography has been my life..."

Hargun shrugged. It ws hard to tell what she would be changing into. "And Ive been training myself to use my toes but.. I honestly dont find it the same. I miss the feeling of holding a pencil.. or anything for that matter."

"I can only imagine" she nodded speaking quietly. "I guess noone knows why he's doing this"

Hargun shook her head, remembering what Lauren had told her a long time ago. "No.. says its a way to find cures for diseases or some s**t like that. Although if you think about it hard enough, he doesnt really have a good reason. Plus Im sure the ability to render us unconcious has absolutely nothing to do with medical purposes.." she frowned.

"He can do that?" she looked confused as she questioned this "Certainly didn't last night thats for sure... I couldn't sleep half the night" she cringed "I've never had a dream like that before..." she was still curious about the whole unconscious thing

"Yep. A a Halloween party we recently had, the Dude punched Moreau and Mreau said 'Subject Caroll, sleep' and he was out like a light. Sounds like Vasile got it too poor guy.." she said and raise da brow curiostly. "Had a strange dream? Yea.. I dont know anybody here that got injected who hasnt had one. I had one before I changed the first time and the second time. Wish I had a photo to show you of what I looked like before.. maybe theres a self potrait in my sketchbook but I dont want to go get that right now. Also.. have you had od cravings for .. certain foods?" she asked, and shot a glance at a bug slowly crawling by her feet.

"Cravings no, but when I woke up I had the memory of hte taste of meat in my mind, it made me throw up" she admitted "I used to be a meat eatter, till about 3 years ago at least" she paused "now I'm a vegan... and Sabin knows it, he didn't seem to like that"

"Hmm. Maybe youre turning into a carnivore of somesort?" she assumed and decided now it was okay to eat. She stabbed the bug with her finger and stuck it in her mouth. "As you can see from my demonsration here.. I now and hooked on bugs.." she said blushing.

Joliette shivered at the thought of eatting a bug "I hope it's not bugs for me I dont think I could do that... As for meat.. " she gulped "I hope not" she said weakly "I got sick after the plant, I can't handle it anymore"

Hargun looked at her sympathetily. "Well, dont look too much into it. Maybe it wasnt a sign and just a random bad nitemare. As for the bugs.. they're actually pretty good." she grinned. "Especially if theyre more specially made ike those chocolate covered ants I got from the cafeteria that I was eating at your duplex yesterday."

Joliette nodded "I hope so... Wanna show me around more? I got kinda lost earlier when I went wandering" she hoped for a change in topics away from from eatting meats... she wanted to hold her last meal in

"Sure.. theres not much to see left that Ive ventured. The only other places I can think of are the River and the cliffs. So where do you wanna go?" she turned in a circle slowly

"I'm open to where really, I've been int eh cafeteria and tot he beach with you and Dude, my duplex and somehow I found my way at hte beach again this morning, so I'm sure theres lots I haven't seen" She smiled weakly

"Hmm.. well.. maybe the river? Personally I just wanna head on home and sleep more like I usually do, but Id be out here again anyways so.. wouldnt kills us to explore more of the island anyways?" Hargun said. She was kinda hoping Joliette would be more specific, but they could go just about anywhere and they could just talk about things.

"Sure, the river sounds fine to me eventually I'm sure I'll figure this place out, it's a lil disorientating to have come in one place and woken somewhere else so lead the way" Joliette said with a nod

"Kay. Well right now you know how to get to the central area.. so just remember the village here is where most of the other islanders hang out.. here and the cafeteria. Just so if you need someone to talk to in general theres usually someone there." Hargun began then started heading in the diretion to more trees and the sound of running water. "So.. other thn me, Awen, Ambrose, Vasile, the Dude and that.. interesting man we just met, who all have you met with here?"

"I met Sabin of course, and briefly a lady in a labcoat, as well as Amaya, thats really about it so far" she admitted looking throught eh viewfinder and snapping off a bunch of photos of the trees ahead till the rewinder sounded

"Ah... Sabin. I thought he was an islander, until.. well now we know. A lady in a labcoat.. wouldnt be Aubrey would it? And Oh you met Amaya?" she smiled. "Shes one of my best friends here. Really really nice she is."she said, and put her bat hand behind her head as they walked. "Do you have a certain thing you like to take photos of?" she asked then laughed. "Sorry.. I sound like the journalist here.."

"I dont know the name of the lady, she actually didn't speak and she parted company when we got to the building" she admitted. "Amaya is hte one who told me whats really going on here, and yes I agree she's very nice, as for photos? no not really, mainly anything that catches my eye, or anything I'm getting a story for. I was thinking earlier perhaps I could put my skill to use here for the others who are stuck here.. if I could find a way to develope film that is... I don't know how welcome that would be though, Amaya didn't sound overly enthusiastic at the idea"

"Id like to be able to see a few progression shots of what I looked like before I changed, after my first change and now of course. But yea, I dont tink it would be a good idea. Some people here.. are having a hard time as you saw the other night." she said and they finally came in sight of the river. Hargun took a seat by the edge and let her feet soak in the water

"I'll figure something out I suppose, I can't just sit here and twiddle my thumbs, maybe just hte scenery I dunno" she sat down and unloaded the camera stuffing her hand into one of hte many many pockets on her vest and pulling out a film canister and traded rolls of film before working on reloading the camera "What do most do around here if their livelyhood is unable to be something they can do?"

"Im not sure what other people do, but Ive grown quite lazy, and as I said, resorted to my toes for things, but I havent drawn something in days on end now." Hargun said and looked down at her reflection. "They do have an entertainment room now and library of sorts. But I really havent gotten intrested in them yet. I sleep most the day too.. you should know why." she said.

"Nocturnal" Joliette said quietly "I'm kinda like that too but for different reasons" she closed hte back of hte camera and looked intot he water as well

Hargun laughed. "I was actually pretty noctorurnal before this, but now I dont feel the guilt of staying up on a school night, but now its different."

She couldn't help but chuckle at this "I believe that, it's natural to do it now." she smiled weakly "This whole situation is making me question my confidence, I'm confident about my work, but not so much about my social skills, I'm usually a loaner"

"Well I think you might become more social after all this. I know I did." she said and stood back up. "Well, it has been a good time talking with you Joliette, and I hate to leave now but Id kinda like to head back to my duplex. We can head back to the village together, or I can let yah stay here at the river and maybe venture some more."

"I'll walk back with you and then part ways, i'm getting hungry" She said standing back up making sure the pocket of her vest was shut

"Alrighty then." Hargun smiled and led them back out to the cafeteria area of the village. Hargun turned around to Joliette."Well, you know where to find me if you need anything, and Im sure if you bump into anyone they could help yah out. Ill see yah later!" she said and waved, before making her way to her duplex.

Joliette nodded and waved "Thanks Hargun, talk to you laters" she said

Cafeteria Turned Warzone!
((More converstion previous to Joliette entering on Pg 60))

Joliette Rigiel
Joliette capped her camera not figuring on using it in the cafeteria. She had waited for Hargun to get far enough away that it was doubtful the batgirl wanted to add anything to their conversation and then walked into the cafeteria... Her eyes were on her camera as she reset it's settings after being reloaded

Jamal_Reedy
Jamal ignored Ambrose when he came in...ignored him when he got his food...but couldn't ignore him as he spoke up and grabbed the disbelieving black man's attention. The man's reaction was immediate. His eyes were thrown wider than he ever thought possible and he nearly jumped backwards over the table behind them at the site of Ambrose. What. The. ********. He barely heard Greer's explaination.

"You...you...." he said in complete stammering gibberish, his mouth working like a goldfish. "Dis ain't funny. AIN'T FUNNY."

Ambrose Maurlias
Ambrose's tail immediately went from wagging to Greer's enthusiastic invitation to Jamal's extreme reaction. But, biting the inside of his cheek (and afterwards realizing that was probably a bad idea), Ambrose seated himself.

Today, if nothing else, was certainly proving to be a test. If he could make it through all of this.... he'd be okay... right? Or perhaps it would break him... no... no, he had enough support here... enough strength of personality. He'd persevere, some hurt feelings aside.

Maybe Moreau was right, though.... if he ever went home again, though, Ambrose didn't think he'd be able to live with this sort of reaction from everyone he ever encountered. The only other option would be holing up somewhere... and how was that preferable to here... where at least there were people who could be his friend... and who could honestly understand what he was going through and not just feel awkward and - at best- treat him like some sort of cripple.

Ambrose swallowed again, organizing his thoughts as he turned to Jamal dead-serious. "It isn't intended on being so.... J.... Jamal, was it?" He reached back in his mind for the name. He started slicing the steaks before him. "I'm.... not sure if you remember me - you seemed to be somewhat drunk at the time... or even if you do if you recognize me... but we met at the Halloween party last week." He said, looking over to Greer.

At least, he thought, he was saving Greer from doing this alone. Jamal was, apparently, not quite informed. And he'd been here for some time already.

Vasile DiRossi
After taking a long shower, and changing into actual clothes, Vasile realized he was hungry, and a bit lonely. He was slowly getting over his aversion to cafeteria food, so he let Brutus out for a short walk, then headed over, hoping Ambrose, Cass, or Amaya were there.

Greer Cassenwari
Taking one of Ambrose's hands hostage, Greer tried to put down the feathers that were fluffing defensively at the back of her neck. "No, it isn't, but it's the life Doctor Moreau has given all of us. I'm sorry you had to be here."

Engrossed in the conversation, she didn't notice the entry of a girl she had yet to meet into the cafeteria.

Joliette Rigiel
Joliette looked up "Oh.. theres people here" she said quietly, she really only did recognize one of them even if their previous introduction was a brief one. "Hello" she said working up her confidence and heading towards the group

Jamal_Reedy
((yay, more people to witness Jamal losing it))

Jamal stared at Ambrose none too discretely, his face paling considerably.
"You...yous dat sword carryin' guy...? No ********' way. Yous ain't lookin' like dat at dat party...I knows I musta been a lil lit-up....but ******** no."

He almost glared at both Ambrose and Greer in succession, but the appearance of a normal human caused him to pause and sigh a breath of relief. He did not like this joke and he'd be damned if he didn't knock a b***h out if they kept this up and it didn't seem like the new girl was privy to the joke. The appearance of Vasile, however, was hardly comforting. He had a tail for christsake and Jamal could see it from where he stood, hands crossed defensively over his chest as he stared down the group of half animal people.

"I ain't findin' dis funny. Who put yous up to it...so help me if it been Awen, brotha gonna have some words..." Hands balled into fists as he spoke, a dangerous glint taking hold in his eyes.

Ambrose Maurlias
Ambrose squeezed Greer's hand back in reassurance, giving her a sidelong apologetic glance for having to deal with this over a meal before turning back to Jamal.

"I... I'm sorry, Jamal. No... I wasn't like this at the party... well, not fully at least." He said, putting his free hand to his temple. "But honestly. THis isn't a joke. I wish it were. I wish that these were just costumes that we could take off as we wished, and that we could return home when we wanted. But it's not. And it's going to happen to all of us." He drove the point in. "I'm turning into a wolf... Greer a hawk." His eyes caught two figures emerging through the door and he smiled to Vasile. Excellent! Another friend in the know who might be able to help, especially seeing as how he had been in the dark for so long as well. And the young boat woman as well who, at least, seemed to be taking all of this quite well.

Ambrose picked up his fork, and took a large bite of steak, flashing his long, curved canines as he opened wide for the large bite.

Greer Cassenwari
Greer was an inately calm and peaceful soul, but when agitated found the hawk's vicious, predatory nature hard to control. Rocketing to her feet she knocked her chair back, hissing and practically spitting. "This isn't a ******** joke, you a**! This is real! That shot you got when you first arrived wasn't a vaccine, it was a serum praparing you to change! You're mutating, just like the rest of us, so you better pull your head from your rear and goddamn realize it!"

She wanted to tear something living to pieces, but Ambrose's hand in hers pulled her back to herself. Righting her chair Greer resumed her seat, quietly fuming as she swallowed her food. Self-centered b*****d! Did he think this crap was all about him?

Joliette Rigiel
Joliette slowed near the table... Had she walked in on another arguement, it seemed like it. She bit her lip and closed her eyes for a brief moment taking a deep breath. She was only a few feet away but didn't want to interrupt for lack of a desire to get her own head bitten off... She didn't think that would be literal but still...

On another note she had only focused on what was ahead of her, she had not heard the star enter the cafeteria behind her

Vasile DiRossi
Vasile seemed to have walked right into the middle of an argument, and while he didn't know what was going on, he certainly didn't appreciate the attitude the Greer-person was taking with this other guys he had yet to meet.

"HEY!" he said, rushing forward past Ambrose and Joiliette, coming up to Greer. "Don't talk to him like that! If you hadn't noticed this is all pretty hard to swallow, okay? And some of us had a LOT of bullshit shoved down our throats to deal with!" He gave her a stern look, knowing all too well what it felt like for people to get mad at you for not believing what SHOULD be impossible to beleive.

But then he took a deep breath and something seemed to click. He spun around abck to Joliette. "YOU! You're the paparatzi chick with the baot!" he said pointing. "How they hell did you find us! They took your boat, the bastards!" Vasile was still pretty tightly wound up from this morning, and his frustration was showing.

Jamal_Reedy
"No. No no no NO NO. Dis is BULLSHIT. I ain't playin' dis ********' game. I AIN'T GONNA DO IT YOU ********' GOT ME. Dis ain't real!"

Jamal wanted nothing more than to run over to Greer and yank all her feathers from her 'costume' or to tear off Ambrose's 'fake' ears or to pull out his fur....but instead he settled for a violent kick at the chair he recently left. The chair didn't go far; it left the ground for a few seconds before crashing loudly into another table with a metallic clang.

When Greer leapt from her chair, he turned his attention to her and his hands flexed back into tight fists, eyes narrowing dangerously into a fine icy glare. He wanted to sock her in her loudmouth face and it showed by the tension in his body language.

A sick panic started to swirl in his stomach despite his best intentions. He could NOT let them get to him like this. This was not real.

Ambrose Maurlias
Ambrose looked back and forth as suddenly three people began yelling. He knew it was hard to deal with, but he could smell the tension rising.

In a moment, Ambrose was on his feet as well. trying to separate Greer from the large, and violent-looking black man. Vasile wasn't helping things by yelling at Greer as well.

"Whoawhoawhoawhoa!" Ambrose said loudly. "Calm down! Everyone!" His hackles were bristled, his ears pressed flat. "We're not enemies here!" Ambrose remembered the Dude's argument with him that was now a long time ago.

His eyes went from Greer to Jamal. Vasile appeared to have been diverted by the short woman. Papparatzi-? But he pushed the thought from his mind at the moment.

"Yes, this situation SUCKS. Yes, this is real. Yes, it's hard to sink in." Ambrose looked to Vasile. "Vasile wouldn't believe it until it happened to him. Somewhere, I think he did believe, but he wouldn't dwell on it until it was too late. I don't know if that was a better way or not. But the fact of the matter is we're all in this together. Jamal. You are welcome to put me to the test. Tug on my tail, whatever. Or wait until it happens to you and let that shatter your worldview."

Ambrose took a few deep breaths, trying to keep the emotions that started to fire under the surface down where they belonged.

Greer Cassenwari
Finishing her food, Greer glared at Vasile through slitted eyes and only barely registered his change. "This isn't your battle, pretty boy. Go do what you're good at and kiss the girls, hmm?"

Turning back to Jamal, she slowly stood again and pushed her chair to the side, giving herself space to kick and move. In back of her head Greer could hear her human self trying to persuade her to be calm and rational about all of this, but the hawk would have none of it. For the first time since her change the animal was in full control, and as much as the angry confidence and potential for violence scared her it intregued her as well. It was a strange situation, finding yourself protesting and rubber necking at your own actions, completely unable to stop them.

"Back off Ambrose, I can take care of myself. The big man is afraid and wants to take it out on us." She sneered at Jamal, adjusting her balance unconsciously as her sharp vision read the nuances of his body language. "Well? What're you going to do?"

Joliette Rigiel
Joliette was now completely distrcted away from the main arguement, she narrowed her eyes at Vasile "I Mr. DiRossi am NOT a paparazzi!" she said firmly and with a touch of distaste as if she were going to spit the word out "I AM a photo journalist who happened to follow a rumor that disappearances in this area were NOT what they seemed to be, and what did I find? You, but in case you haven't noticed I'm now in the same boat as you are, and that's not the Princess!" she hated that term and hated it even more when it was applied to her

Vasile DiRossi
Vasile looked with distaste at Joliette. "Photojournalist? You've got to be kidding me? Call it what you like, but a rose by any other name, my dear."

He just shook his head then looked back to Greer. "You got an egg stuck up your a** or something, Greer?"

Jamal_Reedy
Greer was pretty right. He -was- scared. ******** terrified. But his answer to fear had always been one thing: violence. And now this mismatched mess of a human being/hawk had peaked and shattered the delicate dam he had put on his temper.

"Oh, so yous wanna throw down? FINE. Bring it," he snarled gutterly, setting his jaw while wishing he had a knife on him. He did not normally challenge woman and he didn't normally fight them physically either....but if she wanted to start writing checks her a** couldn't pay, then fine. He'd been yearning for a good brawl anyway and if the twig thought she could bring it, then fine. Jamal had a feeling it wouldn't get that far though; there were too many bystanders.

He ignored Ambrose for the most part, though at the tail-tugging he smirked sarcastically. "Then get yo' a** ova herr and let me yank," he said without any sort of politeness to it. "********' prove to me dis ain't just a bad drug trip."

Ambrose Maurlias
Ambrose had been more worried about Jamal being the threat since he saw him ball his fists, but as Greer stood up, bitched at Jamal and then Vasile for just trying to explain that they were all having a hard time, Ambrose did a double-take, turning to stare at Greer. This wasn't the sweet, meek, friendly Greer he knew. What the hell was going on? Ambrose admittedly hadn't seen her much since her transformation, but when he did he had never glimpsed THIS.

The snarl (and growl) was becoming more evident in his voice as the conflict was rising all around him. Ambrose may be many things, but he was not a coward. Perhaps a bit too overconfident in many situations. Albeit his chivalric nature was confused as Greer appeard to be trying to start the fight.

"Greer... what in the hell has gotten into yo-" He was cut off at Vasile's snide remark.

"Vasile!" He snapped, aghast at the vulgar insult to her avian nature.

HIs blood was pumping with the yelling, and he was feeling his temper boiling dangerously high. But he took some breaths, determined not to lose it... not to lose. He wasn't an animal!.... really....

He turned to Jamal, after giving Greer a warning glance, his respect for the man actually going up a few notches at apparently at least being willing to step up to the challenge non-violently. Even if it was laced with expletives.

"Fine." Ambrose said, and walked closer to Jamal, facing him. Feeling awkward turning his a** towards him, he settled for turning sideways, giving everyone in the room an "I'm watching you" look. "Knock yourself out."

Greer Cassenwari
She hissed at Jamal through her beak and teeth, seeing red and ignoring Ambrose. No one challenged her in her territory, which this was since as they'd discussed earlier she'd clearly gotten here first! She'd tear his eyes out with her feet-

Talons at the ready, she paused for a moment to respond to the movie star. "Just a little tired of being a nice, quiet little mother figure who holds every one's hand and tells them it'll be okay while the doctor's injection mangles my face. I haven't been angry about any of this for a full three damn months, so you'll have to forgive me if I think I'm a little entitled." Greer snarled venomously back at Vasile, envisioning her hand breaking his nose with a well-thrown punch. Imagine the rain of blood that would rush down his face...

Horrified, Greer grabbed fragile control of herself. What was she doing? She didn't hurt people! Shaking her head in an attempt to clear it, the woman frowned and tried to stuff her murderous intentions back into their box.

Joliette Rigiel
Joliette fumed, she hated it she really did, but lashing out at someone when it was not self defense was not her style. Certainly she could if she wanted she had the training, but for now she bit her toungue in anger. Her eyes left the 'star' and moved to the others and watched Ambrose move closer she hoped for some calm soon...

Vasile DiRossi
"Look here, Birdbitch," he said to Greer, crossing his arms. "You have a right to angry, but don't be angry at... him." Yeah, good going, Vasile. Pick a fight defending a guy you've never even seen before. But oh had Greer hit a sore spot. All the time people got angry at him- yelled at him fo rnot believeing. And how stupid that made him feel. And how.. used. "Blame that limey excuse for a doctor who runs the place! That b*****d almost gave me a concussion today!"

Jamal_Reedy
When Greer didn't try to punch him, Jamal's hotblooded, raring and ready to fight disposition lessened somewhat. If anything, the woman looked conflicted; either she was scared to fight now or she decided against it for other reasons. Well, whatever.

Ambrose snared his attention again for the most part and Jamal gave the wolfman a look boardering on disgust that slowly morphed into an expression of impending meltdown as the blonde boy got closer. He didn't even have to tug on his tail. Jamal could see the fur rippling with his movements, held fast at the roots...the fangs that were firmly embedded in the man's jaws when he spoke with a canine-like growl to his syllables...and the tail that flicked and twisted without any outside forces. The black man's eyes searched Ambrose's face for a moment, struggling to see anything there he might even remember from their brief meeting at the party.

"My ********' gawd...jesus christa'pher christ...." he whispered after a pregnant pause, hands unfisting and now splaying over his face as he fought the urge to scream. Jamal understood what Awen meant now and understood why she had the urge to yell the other night on the beach. "G...get away from me. Jus' go. Jus' go ova' wit' dem." He turned his back on the group and dropped his hands to brace himself against one of the tables, leaning over it and breathing heavily as a wave of nausea swept his body.

Ambrose Maurlias
"Greer! You have every right to be angry! Hell, I'm tired of feeling guilty for saying that my problems matter too! But for God's sake direct your anger to the right party! This isn't Jamal's fault! This isn't Vasile's fault! Vasile's right! It's the Doctor's. And I know as well as anyone that he's untouchable as far as we can discern. But taking it out on your friends isn't the answer. It's letting him, and the damn Animal DNA that's coursing through your veins win." Ambrose barked. "I came dangerously close to getting into a fight with the Dude months ago. ANd I wasn't even as far 'developed' as either of us are now. But it scared the s**t out of me. And the last thing I want to see happening is us - ANY of us - giving into these impulses! The Greer I knew would never say things like this!"

And it was true. The Greer he knew was nothing like the woman before him. A small part of him, that Ambrose immediately felt guilty for even thinking, was almost glad that things hadn't cemented between them. No - that was horrible! This WASN'T her. This was what Moreau had done to her... he just hoped... desperately hoped... that animal instincts wouldn't take over Emelyn.... or... him.

Breathing, he turned back to Jamal, finally sensing that the tension might be begining to break. Jamal's critical eye was passing over his fur, his features... and the angered smell took on the acrid smell of fear as Jamal backed up.

But... with Jamal's fear and, furthermore, cry to send him back with the other 'freaks' in not so many words, Ambrose felt like he had been kicked.

Glancing backwards, but not moving, he took another steadying breath of his own. "Jamal..." He said more softly... "I'm sorry.... I ... I hate being the one to have to break this to people. I truly am. Just... just know that you're not alone here." Ambrose almost reached out to put a comforting hand on his back, but he paused, his hand frozen midway between them, looking at the contrast of fur and claws against the smooth skin of the fully human man before him.

He was a freak. Even if he was among others like him... there was no escaping that thought that became painfully obvious as he stood there, seeing the contrast between the two of them.

Greer Cassenwari
"I wasn't blaming Jamal, I was just-" Greer made a frustrated sound and tried to cover her face with her hands, jerking back from her own touch when her fingers brushed her beak. What had happened to her? This wasn't her body, this wasn't her temperment...

Eyes showing too much white as they flicked from Jamal to Vasile to Ambrose, she backed up skittishly, nearly falling over a chair. "I'm sorry, so so sorry! I didn't mean to- I would never- I-" She cut herself off, unable to finish a sentence and let them know the terrible things she'd been thinking. Wincing at Ambrose's chastizement, she held up her hands to ward the others off as she continued to retreat.

"Jamal, Vasile, please forgive me. I'm so sorry I said those things! Ambrose, I- don't hate me, please? Please?" Her voice was small and nervous as she bowed an apology to the female she didn't know. "I need to go. I'm sorry. Excuse me!"

Greer turned and ran, bolting from the communal area and back into her room. She couldn't stay any longer- for every word she'd said the hawk had snarled and shown her what these stupid challengers would look like mangled underneath her talons. Yelling was one thing, but if she ever hurt another person she could never forgive herself, animal thoughts or no.

Joliette Rigiel
Joliette was close to running herself, "what happened to the 'friendly' people Ambrosse had said inhabited the village" she whispered to herself, these certainly didn't seem to be them. Least not at this vantage. Her eyes darted from person to person and she held her ground "O-okay" she said nervously and stepped out of the bird-lady's way, she wouldn't have likely stood in the way even if the woman hand't said anything to her

Vasile DiRossi
Vasile sighed and ran his hand through his hair. "I remembered why I hate cafetaria food," he mumbled, and headed back out the door, giving a frustrated look to Ambrose before he disapeared out the door.

Jamal_Reedy
Jamal didn't know that Ambrose was behind him still or that the blonde boy was in a long-suffering internal battle as he compared his furry hands to Jamal's normal human flesh. His ears were ringing painfully as blood rushed out of his face, giving him an ashen complexion. The departure of Greer and Vasile were not noted at all...he was too busy falling to his knees there at the table side, his forehead pressing now against the cool edge of the table as his hands pulled across the table top until they clutched the same edge that propped his head up.

For once in his life, he felt broken. Even after he murdered the guy that got him in this mess, he never once felt like he wasn't invincible; he was clever enough to get out of that situation. But now he'd put himself into something he had no way out of.

He swallowed hard, feeling bile rise in his throat, and let his hands fall from their perch into his lap as he kneeled at the table side. They stayed there for several breaths before he suddenly took one hand and crossed it to the opposite shoulder, his fingertips feeling around until he felt a small bit of raised skin where he'd been injected at. Jamal touched it softly, sliding the finger tips across it a few times before starting to, for all purposes, claw madly at the site.

"Get it out....get it out," he moaned to himself in an increasingly crazed tone as his nails started to rub the spot raw. He couldn't handle this anymore.

Ambrose Maurlias
Ambrose forcibly pulled himself out of his thoughts as Greer had reality crash around her. Turning, he looked to her and opened and closed his mouth. "Greer.... I... don't hate you. What's happening to us is terrifying.... just... don't let it win.." He finished finally, the growl gone from his voice, left only with a cold ache at the scene he had seen fall around him.

He winced to Vasile as he departed, holing up his hand in a dejected wave as he exited.

"And they are friendly, Joliette... usually.. Honestly... just a bad time." Ambrose sounded tired... but more than tired he felt disturbed. Greer was the last one who would do something like that. He could smell her fury, feel her at the cusp of violence... how could that happen to them?? They were all at a breaking point - nerves on HIGH

And it was then that Jamal really did break... falling, clawing at his arm, where the poison had been pumped into his veins. The liquid that would soon rob him too of his humanity. Everything that Ambrose had felt himself was suddenly made real by Jamal's actions, the denial turned fear.

The part of Ambrose that yearned to be a hero screamed at him to not allow this man to fall into his own misery... into madness like his duplexmate had.

With a flurry of action, Ambrose seized Jamal by the shoulders, forcing him to look him in the eye. "It's there. It's not going anywhere! I know how badly you want to wake up, to make all of this go away, to have never have come! And I know how much the reality of this terrifies you! It's closed in around me like a nightmare - betrayed by my own skin because of what they've done to me. But you HAVE to hold out! .... We need eachother... we can't let eachother break to this." He pleaded in a strangled yell.

Joliette Rigiel
Joliette nodded slowly at Ambrose's words, "Okay" she said meekly she sat down on the nearest chair her nerves severely rattled as it all started to sink in. She stared directly at the floor looking in shock as she heard Ambrose's words to Jamal

Jamal_Reedy
Digging...clawing...scratching. Whatever it took, he had to get it out. He couldn't do this. He was a ******** human being, not some experiment.

But he was literally shaken from his task by Ambrose's actions, his gaze only meeting the young man's because he was forced to. The fright that reflected in the black man's eyes as he looked upon what he'd probably eventually have to deal with was evident beyond any measure.

Ambrose's words were muffled and hardly distinguishable to Jamal. Nothing made sense anymore.

He did this to himself. This was payment for what he did back home. He was sure of it now.

He deserved this.

Ambrose Maurlias
His eyes held Jamals' with an intensity for a few more moments before he released him from his grasp and took a few steps back.

He wasn't helping.... Like a slap in the face Ambrose realized that he couldn't help. Not right now. THe fear in Jamal's eyes that filled Ambrose's nose told him that... only worsening with Ambrose's touch.

He wanted so much to be the hero..

To help people through this at the very least if he couldn't help himself.

But he was too much of a freak to do so. He had hoped that, at the very least, he could still be himself - keep himself to his goals and be a good person despite the fur and fangs. But looking at the fear in the man's eyes as he was confronted with not only a monster, but his future... Ambrose's heart was wrenched into his stomach.

"I'm sorry..." He mouthed. "I'm so sorry!" He backpedaled, eyes stinging. He turned, and leaving his meal behind, fled back to his duplex.

Joliette Rigiel
Joliette looked up as Ambrosse sped past her and then looked towards Jamal, she couldn't think of what to say, and just looked at him the look in her eyes was like her whole world crumbling away

Jamal_Reedy
Jamal wasn't even aware of the girl's presence anymore. He was a ******** goner. It was all over.

"I can't be herr..." he said out of the blue, getting to his feet in a very clumsy manner (he almost knocked his head into the table). "I can't do dis. I can't."

His head pounded severely as he weakly and slowly headed for the door. Jamal needed to go home.

Joliette Rigiel
Joliette stared at the floor for quite a bit longer before slowly standing up it was too quiet... and everything she'd heard that day screamed through her head. It all hit her at once and tears slipped down her cheeks as she trudged out of the cafeteria forgetting completely why she had gone there to begin with

Joliette Rigiel
Joliette didn't watch where she was walking, which probably wasn't a good thing considering she didn't know the village well at ALL to begin with. It didn't take long before she took a wrong turn and was heading in completely the wrong direction then her duplex. She cried silently, she didn't often cry, she had always closed herself in her little world of journalism. A world that had been pulled out from under her, like a babe and it's blanket.

Eventually, and she honestly had no idea how, she wound up on the beach. It had to be one the last places she wanted to be as hte sea and a beach were how this whole mess started for her... She trudged through the sand and then sat down leaning against a large chunk of driftwood

Colche
Colche was already on the beach, but she was far from sad. Possibly the one truely happy inhabitant of the island Colche loved to watch the sunset. Her huge innocent blue eyes gazed out over the slowly turning water. She sat quite happily in the waves, allowing the foam to leap over her bareskin. She had seen noone again today so the subject of cloaths simply hadn't come up. The reds and golds of the sunset touched her jetblack hair highlighting the soft tint of blue that ran through it. She heard somone trapse on to the beach and she reluctantly turned to see who it was. Her head tilted in a cat like manner as she watched the short woman quietly. contemplating look crossed her face and she waveda hand to see if the woman would approach, she seemed rather lost though, Colche had a sixth sence about these sort of things.

Joliette Rigiel
Joliette saw a figure... sorta, her eyes blurred by her tears, she didn't realize the figure had no clothing on as she lifted a hand in a weak attempt at a wave but she didn't get up or walk over

Colche
Colche gave a gentle shrug, her gaze once again turning to the sunset. Her jetblack hair falls accross her body and she stands, her riverlike fronds covering her strangely in a coy sort of way. She pads up to the girl and sits with a sandy plop "sunset pretty" she says simply her gaze turned back to the sea and it's sparkling colours.

Joliette Rigiel
"What?" Joliette asked quietly then looked in the direction the girl had and drug a hand across her eyes to unblur them some "Oh, yes pretty, especially when on the water" she sniffed looking back away from the water again into her own hands

Colche
Colche stayed silent for a short time her deep blue eyes simply admireing the sunset "Colche" She stated turning her gaze up to the petite woman "Why sad?" she questioned. She never truely understood why people were sad here. Her time on the island was the best time of her life. It was always warm, she was always well fed and she even owned a pet. She could do as she liked and she had friends who were like family to her.

Joliette Rigiel
"Colche?" Joliette didn't know what that meant, if it was her name, or a word in another language. But she did understand the question "I was lied to... and my world got pulled out from under me" she said quietly looking at the sand and how is sparkled from the sunset. She'd never met this person before, though that didn't exactly surprise her... she hadn't exactly been there very long

Colche
Colche listend and though she didn't exactly take in all the words, infact most of them and the sentence were lost to her jumble of mixed up thoughts "Island nice, Pretty, happy, nice" She peered around her dark hair her big blue eyes looking for who she was. "Me, Colche" She bit her bottom lip, she knew the phrase was wrong , but it was the closest thing she could come to an I am. She wanted to know who the girl was. She was obviously new, she wasn't at all fuzzy.

Joliette Rigiel
"Yeah, nice, not happy, but pretty" she mumbled not entirely agreeing with colche's feelings. "When you actually want to be here" she closed her eyes drawing her knees up to her chest and leaning on them "You're colche..." she repeated "I'm Joliette" she said with her thick British accent and the name came out sounding like 'Jooleeai'

Colche
"JOO..Lee..ai" she mimiked biting her tongue as she looked up at the female "pretty, no sad, island nice" She nodded an affirmative her hair shifting away from her arms and shoulders as she looked back out at the falling sun, watching the sky starting to turn to the medeteranian navy. Her back wa slined not only with strange, spot like markins, but white scars long healed now but they were still there interrupting the spots at the moment.

Joliette Rigiel
She peered over a hte girl for the fist time slightly suprised to notice her lack of attire, but the spots and stripes of color didn't surprise her though she wasn't sure how hte white came to be... So innocent in her eyes, this girl seemed to not understand in the same way as Joliette was looking at it all... "Yes Joliette, thats right..." she bit her own lip, she didn't want to be turning into an animal, this girl didn't seem to mind one bit though "You like it here dont you" she said quietly

Colche
Colche looked up at the girl a serious look in her huge glassy eyes "no work, no dark, food, fA..mi..lee." her brow creased a little "Nice, Colche like" She nodded an affirmative. Of course when she said no work she didn'tmean the usual type of work that people did. The scars that litterd her slender figure were signs of the abuse she had sufferd since she was a little child. Astar twinkled in the navy blue as the last of the purple red flashed over the water and the bright twilight started "twinkle twinkle, little star" she giggled, a soft, cascading puurr escaping her chest as she sat there "sun gone, bedtime Joliette" She stands, the cool first evening light washing over her.

Joliette Rigiel
Joliette looked towards the star and made a wish of her own, a wish she knew would never come true if what everyone had told her was true, tomorrow she'd make another... "Bedtime..." she looked around it dawned on her she had no idea how she wound up on the beach... again for the second time that day "uhmmmm"

Colche
Colche giggled "villiage" she started to walk peering back once to make sure the girl was following "Seventeen Joliette" she stated, giving her home duplex to the small woman. She smiled brightly. She knew the way well now she had walked from this beach to her duplex far too many times to say. She had certainly become far more independant than she was when she got here. The cheetah in her forced her to be an independant woman . Though the frightend little girl still yelled for company.

Joliette Rigiel
Joliette pushed herself up "Yeah, the village, not sure where that is from here... Will you show me Colche?" she asked as she slowly followed the girl adjusting the camera on it's strap so it hung better

Colche
Colche nodded as she paded through the line of trees that surrounded the beach walking the well worn path "wassat?" she asked, just noticing the strange device around Joliettes neck, though she kept walking, she wanted to get home she was sleepy as usual at this time of day, she had strange sleeping habbits, though she didn't entirely know why.

Joliette Rigiel
"It's a camera, it takes pictures" she said quietly trying to keep it simple, she had come to realize that thats what this girl understood, least thats wwhat she felt by the girls own speech pattern. Joliette followed Colche, who seemed to know exactly where to go

Colche
"Cam..ur..ra" She mimked again, okay that was easy enough to understand. It was a pretty short didtance betweent he eback and the villiage and thelights of the cafeteria quickly started to swim in to view. "pretty" she whispers pausing for a moment to look at the flickering lights before she padded on.

Joliette Rigiel
"I suppose" Joliette said refusing to take in whatever prettiness Colche saw in the village, she yawned, ugh it taught her for staying up half the night, but then if it were true, it wasn't entirely her fault, after all she didn't give herself the shot

Colche
Colche smiled and led Joliette in to the villiage. She paused at the Cafeteria and gave a slight yawn "food." she stated "no sad" she wrinkled her nose in a smile and vanished in to the cafeteria for her snack before bed, plus she needed to get bjunny his evening meal too. She waved goodbye to joliette slipping in to the warm welcoming light.

Joliette Rigiel
Joliette watched her leave and then found her way to her own duplex closing hte door and locking it behind her
