Coalan laughed. "Naw, more over eager than clumsy. But you still need to take it easy for a while. The paw is still weak, even if it does feel better. So, shall we go home and come back another time?" he asked knowing she didn't want to hear those words but knew they needed to be said.

"But.....but.......yeah, I guess that is the smartest choice. Maybe we can go swimming instead?? She asked, looking eager again. She jumped around excitely and then waited for him to answer. She knew that swimming would be easier on her paw and that it would still be a lot of fun.

Coalan moved to stop her from jumping up and down. "If you do not take it easy, you are going to hurt your paw even worse, and then you won't be able to swim either. So lets walk to the lake and see how your paw is. If it isn't good, we are returning to the cave and you are going to rest for a few days before you can do anything strenuous."

"That seems fair," she said, smiling. She started to walk toward the lake, hopping along in her excitement. As they approached the lake she turned to him and smiled. "My paw really does feel much better, you know." She waited to see what he said, smiling either way.

Coalan rolled his eyes. "We can swim for a little while, but I am not letting you overdue it. Do you understand me? I don't want to lose you because you were being silly or reckless. Besides, I know you want to be a mother again. How will you do that if you cannot walk?" he asked, knowing it would get his point across.

She sighed and then nodded before going into the water. She enjoyed swimming but she was careful to take it easy this time. She made sure she only swam a little bit faster than he did, as opposed to trying to race. After about an hour, she had swam long enough to be content and then looked over toward shore. She swam to shore slowly, and then shook off quickly. "Well that was refreshing."

Coalan had been careful to swim slowly, knowing her competitive nature, careful to keep her from overdoing things. He followed her to shore and smiled. "Ready to get some dinner and head home?" he asked.

"Sure," she said, smiling. She shook herself off again, trying to get the last of the heavy coating of water out of her fur. She was still damp, but she did not feel like that water was weighing her down anymore. She turned toward him and said, "Fish or hunt?"

Coalan thought for a while and wondered which would be easier on her paw and settled on fish. "Let us go fishing," he said and began to lead her down the path heading in the direction of a good fishing area nearby.

Lynnea followed him at a fairly steady pace. She was fairly sure that she knew which fishing hole they were going to, but just in case he had a different one in mind she let him lead. As she started to walk her paw got a little sore again, but it was still much better than before.

Coalan found the water hole and noticed she was beginning to limp again. "Take it easy. I'm gonna go catch dinner." he said and left her standing there and went down to the lake. He soon returned with a mouthful of fish which he dropped in front of her before heading to get his own dinner and rejoining her.

She blinked at him, kinda wishing she had been able to go fish for herself. However, she waited for him to return and then once they both had food she began to eat slowly. It was beginning to get dark, so she figured they would have to head back to their den soon after they finished eating.

Coalan watched her as he ate. "You need to take it easy. You are already limping again. Tomorrow, don't do too much and give you paw plenty of time to rest. Otherwise, you are going to be out of commission for a while. Understand?" he asked, knowing that she did not want to hear what he said, let alone listen, but also knew that she needed to.

She nodded, sighing. She slowly finished her fish and waited for him to finish his. As he did, she waited to see if he was ready to head back to their den. She was admittedly getting tired and her paw was getting more sore the longer she had to stand on it.

Coalan sighed then nudged her. "Let's go home." he said and cleared the way for her so that she did not have to put as much weight on her paw as they picked their way home. "How are you feeling?" he asked as he saw their cave up ahead.
