Raquel cocked her head but then smiled and nodded. "Yes, of course." She was happy that Damian was supportive of her and her desire to learn more. She let him lead though ,feeling slightly intimidated by all the people who seemed to know so much more than she ever could. But as soon as they got inside...something changed. Raquel released Damian's arm, awe struck by all the books. She had walked by the library many times on her way to work, but never got to go in. The most books in one place she had ever seen was Damian's own personal Library. So this was breathtaking. Two stories it seemed of nothing but books. She bit her lip, her eyes large as she took it all in, walking slowly, occasionally glancing at a near by title. She naturally migrated towards the music and art section, browsing through a few books before something caught her eye. She felt silly because like a child, she was drawn to the bright colors of one of the bindings. It was an art book, more specifically, on just filled with various paintings and sketches by different artists. She was mesmerized by the artwork and the pure emotion behind them all, but stopped herself when she realized it was essentially a grown up picture book. She sighed, furrowing her brow as she continued to look for something to read, though not before glancing back once more, making a mental note to look it up later, perhaps on Damian's computer.

Damian crouched down by her. To him, the arts section was just something to have a quick glance at. He'd no real passion for paintings unless they were something so surreal and dream-like that they only could have come from the imagination of the artist. Art to him was a hobby, and only the truly amazing people could make a living off of it.
"We can get anything you like. Anything to help you with what you want to do." Damian would always be the type to buy his way into someone's affections. In this case, though, he felt he was doing something towards her education, and none of that would be wasted. He plucked out a title from the shelf and flipped it open. It was a book on the Earth artists, with images all dedicated to masterpieces that had been salvaged to other worlds or lost completely.

Raquel had already plucked out a few books herself from other sections, one a book of poetry, one a novel, a text book actually, mostly on history and literaturetogether, and a few other ones for herself. She came up behind Damian, glancing over his shoulder. "C-could we get that one too?" She asked, balancing the small pile she was working on. She found anything from the Earth period fascinating. She wanted to learn more about it...starting with its art forms, culture, literature, anything. She had heard on a few occasions some rather ritzy looking people discussing such things, as well as other forms of art and literature when she had to meet some one in the ballroom, or even at the cafe when she worked there. She felt it was as good as a place as any to start. Science and mathematics had always been hard for her, but anything with the arts seemed to flow just fine...with an exception of some literature classes, she had a hard time reading certain texts.

"Of course, here..." Damian took the pile she was holding and searched for a small basket he could use. He settled on a reusable bag which was also for sale, and placed everything in the large tote. "Splurge, go crazy! It's all towards you, love." He felt as if he could make up for the years he didn't care, and the years she'd had to suffer without education or proper looking after. If Raquel's eyes could light up from a book then he would invest in a library for her.

Raquel smiled though biting her lip, nodding as she returned to browsing. This was also wonderful You'd think that Damian were buying her a bag of priceless jewelry. But to her, these things were priceless. She hadn't read much at all growing up and didn't enjoy reading, simply because it was a luxury she couldn't afford. Let alone afford to learn how to properly. She picked up a a few more books that caught her eye, some one music theory, some that simply looked boring, therefore must make her smarter by reading, but some...she indulged in, simply because they had a beautiful cover. She wanted to read them all. She handed Damian the few more she had picked out, including a blank sketch book. She wanted to try to imitate the sketches she had seen in one book for fun and to see if she had a knack for it. Though she dropped one book, a larger book that had rather small print. She picked it up, furrowing her brow a bit as she flipped through the pages, squinting occasionally. She bit her lip already feeling embarassed. "...t-this one seems...too hard." She sighed with a shake of her head. "I've probably got enough books anyhow." She smiled nervously, setting it back on the shelf. "I'll start with those and work my way up..." She added, pushing her hair back a little with her hand.

Damian watched her pick out books here and there. One thing he noticed was how with some of them, she didn't really take into account what they were about. He hoped she wouldn't get herself frustrated later, but trusted her judgement and didn't say anything about what she was getting.
"Whatever you're comfortable with. Why not get a few fun reads, you know? Anything you can get in your brain helps work it out." Fun fact books sometimes helped when he was bored, though rarely could he find the right time to spout some strange fact, like, 'oh, did you know? Flies beat their wings at such and such a speed.' But maybe Raquel would find that fascinating.

Raquel smiled a little, blushing slightly. "well...I found some novels...they look wonderful.." She had red the back of one paperback. It was in large print and spoke about a forbidden romance between two people, but how they over came it. Another looked like a mystery, with what looked to be a young girl detective who solved them. The looked to be books for children, but she would have fun reading them. She opened one of her choices, scanning the pages for a moment before looking up at Damian. "D-do you think you could help me with some of these later?" She asked, still a little ashamed. She enjoyed the stories and information books held. It was just reading them that she hated. Sometimes she felt as if she could't even see the letters on the page after so much. That was always just her. She preferred the big picture books her teacher gave her once, that had lovely drawings, and simple sentences that she could read easily. it was when they got to novels and other 'larger' books she had trouble following alone.

Ah, there were the easier ones. Damian worried that if Raquel couldn't properly read a children's novel, then she might not be able to manage a more complicated text book. Schooling might prove to be a very big undertaking, especially if she had a learning disability.
"Of course... I'll help you with whatever you need." His eyes were soft and supportive, as was his smile. "Don't look so worried, dove..."

It didn't stop her though. She sighed, slipping the book into the bag as well, feeling disappointed with herself already. "I don't know what the matter is...I can read some things just fine...and not just childrens books. I can read the headlines in the paper, which usually have more complicated words in them. I can read and understand that...sure the story itself ends up frustrating but..." She sighed, already frustrated. She looked up at him, looking as if she were about to cry. "I'm not stupid."

"I never said you were, love..." Damian looked around them quickly, and pulled her into a quiet aisle with no one inside. The books were placed neatly down on the floor at their feet so his hands were free to gently cup her face. "Did you know I used to stutter when I was young? It didn't stop until my mother died. I'm not sure what happened, but I found it within myself to get better."

Raquel, touched his hand with her own, still frowning but she looked up at him with those big green eyes. "But, I'm not as amazing as you..." She let a small smile break through, closing her eyes momentarily to take his hand and kiss it sweetly.

"Yes you are!" Damian began laughing at the very thought of her not being as good as or even better than himself. This was the woman who had been through hell and back again ever since she was born. And he, what was he? An aristocrat who spoke with rounded tones, who could get whatever he wanted and did.
"Raquel, you have seen so much more hardship than I have, and yet you still stun me every day. How are you not amazing for that?" Damian's hands slipped from her face to around her waist so he could pull her into a hug. They had privacy in the store, to be sure, but he couldn't help but feel as if someone, some paparazzi, was waiting to take a photo.

Raquel laughed, smiling again as she slipped her arms about him as well, burying her face into him. "If I'm amazing it's only because you helped me get that way..." She noted. "There are plenty of girls who have equally as horrid lives, and are surviving. What makes me more amazing than them? The simple fact that I have you..." She rested her chin on him so she could look up at him with affectionate eyes.

"I could argue with you until the stars go out." Not caring about his previous fear of someone watching he kissed her sweetly. Short, and simple, but affectionate. All he needed was to communicate that, and he would be settled.

Raquel's lips hovered after such an innocent kiss, suddenly wishing they were back home cuddling. She knew they probably had more places to visit, but in all honesty, she was getting a bit tired. She smiled up at him, a very tiny blush apparent on her face. "I think we've got enough books...do you want to head home or is there somewhere else you'd like to visit?" She asked, cocking her head a bit.
