Alexa waited to chuckle until she was inside. She could always, always get around her mother. Why on earth would her father send her to Mother for punishment?
She opened the door to her parents' room, and stood there with her mouth slightly open in shock. Her mother was sitting at the desk, her face hidden in her hands, weeping quietly. Alexa had never seen her mother cry before.
Tentatively, she went to her mother and put her hands on the older woman's shoulders. Vix looked up at her daughter, managed a trembling smile, and patted the girl's hand. "So I hear you're making trouble again," she murmured.

Einon shrugged. "Don't really know. Dad said he was going hunting or something. Didn't really pay attention." He caught the ball and spun around, throwing it back at his sister. "Did mom say anything about where they were going to you?"

Artemis ran over with Alex and bowed to Leon. "Mr. Silverwolf. Could..Could I go with you too? Please? I won't get in your way, promise. I'm just bored out of my mind here. The problem of being born to 'normal' parents, or parents without any real powers or that fought in the war."

Aura shook her head. Reaching up to catch the ball, she squeaked in surprise as it zinged by just above her fingertips to land in her mother's hand.
Engela lifted a brow at her children, repressing a smile. "That bored, children?" she inquired, tossing the ball back to her son. "I wasn't gone so long as all that." She'd gone to check out some distressing rumors about weapon caches in the hills near their home. Though she'd found nothing, she'd resolved to keep an eye out. She wanted nothing to ruin the life she and Mathias were making here.

Einon gasped when his mother caught it. Unprepared when she threw it back, he raised his hand to block it. It hit hard, the shadow magic rushing past him. "Wow... Sorry mom." He looked around. "Didn't dad go with you?" Einon asked, starting to get concerned since his father never stayed away for this long, even hunting.

Aura didn't even have to ask. She and her mother were very intimately connected. Sharing the same web of magic tended to do that. "He didn't go with you," she said, not phrasing it as a question.
Engela didn't seem surprised. "No," she agreed. "He didn't. Did he tell either of you where he was going?"

Leon smiled and nodded "yes you may come" Alex smiled he was soo eager and yet his father was not his father seemed worried concerned tense he almost was worried about something horrible

"He only said he went hunting." Shrugging, Einon looked around. Unlike his sister and mother, he didn't have a bond with his dad that told him where he was always or what he was thinking. All he knew was that dad wasn't entirely up front with everything. But not in a deceitful way, simply kept a lot of things 'close to the chest'. Except with mom, dad couldn't keep anything from her.

Artemis shouted for joy and raised his staff up a little, summoning his robes. Even though the robes weren't water, the gems that were imbedded in the fabric were drawn to his staff. A gift from his master when he was training. "I get to go on an adventure!! YES!!!"

Alexa sat with her mother for a little while, although Vix made no attempt to explain what was going on. Both of them knew she didn't have to.
It was almost enough to make Alexa feel guilty about her plans to leave with Kirra tonight. Almost. But not enough to make her want to back out of it. She knew what she wanted. And she would have it, come hell or high water.
She squeezed her mother's shoulder lightly. "It'll be okay, Mother," she said reassuringly.

Engela merely nodded. "I'm sure he'll be home soon," she replied. Then she smiled faintly. "Until he is, you two can go back to your ball game, I suppose. Unless you want to practice instead."
Aura looked cautiously at her mother. She wanted to ask more questions, but didn't feel like her mother would want to answer them. Going the safer route, she kept them to herself. Not that Mom ever actually got angry, but when she was irritated with them she became...aloof, in a way that hurt more than yelling.

Night was approaching and Leon saw a smile campfire up ahead "ahh there's the old man now" he spoke to no one in particular and headed over with the two kids towards the campfire Alex noticed his father ease up a bit he was soo eager to be in an adventure

Einon looked from his mom to his sis then back. Sometimes he envyed their bond, but other times he was glad he didn't have anyone tapping/reading his thoughts. "I wanna do something, and since dad isn't here to sword fight, I suppose I could train with magic with you two." He put his hands up in a standard defensive position.

Alexa had left her mother in her room, going to her own bedroom to toss some things together. She wanted to be ready once Kirra got back - which she figured would be soon. It was late afternoon, and damn handy that her father had taken the boys off on an 'adventure'.
She felt a little bad for leaving her mother alone, but it couldn't be helped that her father had a bad sense of timing.
Although Engela smiled slightly as her hand raised, it was Aura whose magic lashed out at her brother like a whip. She was still learning to handle the currents as she wanted to, and the strength of it was slightly weaker than what it would have been had she used shadow magic instead. But she didn't care. She wanted to learn to shape the currents to her will as her mother did.

Einon blocked with shadows, funneling the currents away from him then lashed out with a whip of shadow magic, aimming at his sister's leg. He also sent a wave of it at his mother, though he knew it'd get block. The only one that was really a match for his mom was his dad. When they fought to show him and his sister, it was amazing.

Artemis was close to Leon. He heard Leon say "There's the old man" and asked: "WHO is that? Is that a guy from the war? Were you expecting him?" He then realized he was too loud and quickly quieted himself and moved near Alex. "Do you know who that person is?"

Alex asked his father "who is this old man you speak of?" Leon chuckled "an old pal of mine from the war" Alex wondered what his sister was up too
