Katsuko stopped and rested a while on a thick branch. then she jumped down and walked into the town. *I wonder what its like on the streets.* she wondered. *hopefully Garrett won't see me, i just want to look around. i don't want to go back to the palace.*

Garret was walking down the street and out of the corner of his eye he saw a small child try to pickpocket him. He turned around and grabbed the girls wrist. "That's not for you." he said. "Please sir, I'm hungry." the girl said. "Well then steal from someone else! If you try to steal from me again i will slit your goddamn throat!" he exclaimed. "Let go of me.....please." the girl begged.

Katsuko saw Garrett tormenting the little girl. she rushed over and knocked Garrett out of the way. "leave her alone." she rubbed the girls wrist and then slipped something into her pocket. "Don't get involved with scary guys like him, ok?" she whispered. the girl nodded and then ran away. Katsuko stood and looked at Garrett but said nothing and turned away.

Garret ran in front of Katsuko. "What the hell was that? You do not get between ME and MY business!" he exclaimed

"She was a child." Katsuko said calmly. "don't make it harder for them." her eyes were clouded with concern.

"Don't make it harder for them? Kids living on the streets these days have it easier than kids in MY day. I've been through some rough s**t. What these kids are going through is NOTHING compared to what I went through as a child." he exclaimed.

Katsuko stopped. "so you have to make everyone's livers miserable because you suffered before?" she choked out. she brought up he hand to her face and wiped her tears away. *Why am i crying?* "You should help others to be better off than you were." she said.
