Gaunt nods slowly and he removes his shoes at the station to remove them. He slowly walked into the house and turned around slowly, simply marveling at the size. He chuckles slightly and he shrugs a bit as the talk instantly turns to spies. "So I'll take it as a yes, dwarves never leave the north." He purses his lips and he shrugs. "If there were supply lines or something.. At least then there could be a blockade and you could try to starve them out of hiding, at which point you can try to grab one or two and interrogate them."

"A good idea," a female voice broke in from the direction of the dining room, "but the dwarfs are not in hiding ... they are in captivity."
A tall woman, 7'1", with waist-length black hair and dark eyes, entered the hall from the dining room. She had several of the same facial features as Arahad did - the same rounded jaw and the same shape of ears - but she was much thinner, almost so thin as to be unnatural.
She bowed her head to Gaunt. "Haradhel Aldrich, Serenity's aunt," she smiled warmly, straightening again.

He nods slowly as he bowed deeply toward Haradhel. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Haradhel. I am Gaunt, Serenity's suitor. And the Child behind me is Prince." He straightened and he tilts his head a little bit, looking.. like he was pondering for a moment. "If they are being held captive, then are not the captors still in control?" He shrugs a little. "Because it seems to me, if the dwarves are free to run these kinds of operations out of their 'cages', then perhaps they're less captive and more nation." He shrugs. "But I know I don't know the whole story, and I'm a brand-new acquaintance. So please take my words with a grain of salt."

Haradhel smiled warmly at Gaunt and Prince, and she looked curiously at the tiny boy in Serenity's arms.
"And this ...?" she prodded gently.
Serenity blushed warmly. "My own son, Ian. I adopted him several months ago. After Mama was here."
Haradhel smiled. "Well, welcome to Haven, all of you," she said warmly. And then she turned her attention back to Gaunt. "Trust me, even for those who know the whole story, and how everything is working right now, it's a big mess. And when we add in recent events ..." She shrugged. "It's chaos."
"Nana," Arahad spoke up then, "they need to visit Ulrich tomorrow morning, I told them it would fine for them to stay the night here."
Haradhel nodded, her eyes sparkling brightly. "Of course it is," she agreed. She turned back to Serenity and Gaunt. "Did you have any plans for the afternoon?" she asked them with a warm smile. "I know usually plans are sort of thrown together once you get here, what with the time difference and all, but ..."

He nods slowly and he smiles softly. "I understand. Things have gone nuts, and there's no way everybody can be everywhere to deal with every problem nipping at your collective heels." He chuckles softly and he shrugs. "I understand, in that manner." He smiles softly and he looks over his shoulder to Serenity. "As far as I know, we have no hard-and-fast plans. So I don't mind doing a few spontaneous things." He smiles at her warmly, squeezing her hand gently.

Serenity giggled and blushed faintly, squeezing Gaunt's hand back as well.
"I was actually sort of thinking ... what do you think of Prince learning to ride a horse?" she suggested to Gaunt. "He would be in very good hands ... and Ian wanted to learn ..."
And they could have some alone time.
Ian's eyes lit up brightly. "I want to learn!" he squealed. "I do! I do!"

Gaunt nods and he smiles softly. "Mmn. That sounds like a good idea to me. Sure, go ahead Prince. I'll let you start on the path of being an equestrian."
"Equestrian?" Prince blinked.
"Mmn. It's a general term of someone who rides a horse, though generally in a more professional sense, I think. I'm not exactly sure." Mused Gaunt. Then he laughs softly. "But riding a horse would be nice. When you get older, you can romance a woman by taking her horseback across a beach." He laughs lightly.

Haradhel laughed softly at the image Gaunt's comment invoked. Yes, that would indeed be nice.
"Arahad, why don't you take them to Amdir?" she suggested with a grin. "I have to keep working here - and you're supposed to be in the field."
Arahad chuckled. "Yes, Nana." He motioned towards the others. "Come, this way."
Serenity waved goodbye to Haradhel, then turned back towards the door. "I do know where it is," she reminded her cousin. "It hasn't been THAT long since I've been here."
She waited for Gaunt to put his shoes on again (she hadn't taken her own off). "Besides," she added, "it's not like Amdir doesn't know me."
Arahad shrugged. "I find it's best to do what Nana says," he winked. "She's awfully nice but she has a temper sometimes."

Gaunt nods slowly as he hears the others conversate around him. He turns around when Serenity says that she'll handle delivering Prince and Ian toward the stables. He pulls his shoes back on and smiles, going with Serenity and Arahad to go toward wherever they were to go. He turns at the door and bows to Haradhel. "Thank you very much for your hospitality." Then he would head after everyone else.

Once they were outside, Arahad also bid them farewell and ran off towards the field behind the barracks.
"I should probably warn you," Serenity commented as she led everyone towards the long building on the left, "when you meet my uncle, he will probably tease you ... he has a history of teasing suitors for any of the family, and of questioning them non-stop ... but he does it with the best of intentions."

He nods slowly, his fingers gently stroking hers as their fingers remained interlocked. He smiles a little and he slowly takes a breath. "Then I hope that you don't mind that I intend to be honest with him. I kind of have a problem with lying. I don't do it very well, and I hope I never do." He smiles warmly at her and leans toward her, softly kissing the corner of her lips.

Serenity giggled softly and kissed him back, then squeezed his hand and smiled at him.
"It makes me glad," she murmured. "I can't abide lying ... and I hope I'm always nothing but honest with you."
She kissed him again, just a quick peck on the lips, mindful of the children and of the many many elves that were around them.
Ian didn't look impressed with his new position. "Mom," he said flatly, "if you're just gonna kiss him, can Prince carry me instead?"
He didn't want to be in the middle of all that gross stuff.

He smiles softly and he nods slowly. "Good. I look forward to having an honest relationship with you." He smiles and returns the kiss, though he coudln't help but to chuckle a little at Ian's request.
Prince nods and holds his hands out to take Ian. "I can carry him. And we'll do our best not to look, too."

Serenity laughed and blushed hotly, carefully handing Ian down to Prince. "Here," she giggled, more out of embarrassment than anything else. "We're nearly there, it's just beyond the stables here." She nodded at the building they were passing.
"And as for you boys," she added, trying to look at least a little stern (but failing and only looking desperate instead), "try to behave yourselves."
Ian grinned and held out his hands to Prince, slinging one arm around his shoulder. "We'll be good," he promised his mother in a sing-songy tone. "But you gotta be good, too!"

Gaunt laughs softly and he nods slowly at the two boys. "We'll be good, we promise." Of course, there could be several different definitions of being good. He can be very, very good to her in a few different ways, but it woudln't exactly be called behaving.
Prince nods and he smiles softly, keeping his eyes fixed around him and in Ian, trying not to look at Serenity and Gaunt in case they start kissing again. "I can't believe Gaunt is letting me learn horses! I'm so excited!"
