Rose sighs and shrugs, " i suppose but its odd. all the things you can over hear about how great the Sun is or how powerful him army is, but he makes foolish mistakes. sending soliders to the border so often, and such weak ons at that. what does he expect of us.?that we are a dying race just because we dont go into their territory as much? that we are unprepared and that they can just come and kill of us and Nightmare? the Sun is not a grand leader as they all say, he is a fool."

"You can say that again. But I think he's trying to gauge our strength and efficiency by sending in so many peons." Vincent's face grew contemplative and he placed his chin in his hand. "He must know that he's sending only mere fodder to our borders. I never expected him to be so callous."

"Exactly!" Rose said putting her head to her knees, " its not like he doent know that he is sending weaklings. its not like he doesnt know that we can and will kill them as soon as they enter our borders. it just makes not sense. its madness. whats the point of being proud of such pointless easy victories."

"I don't try to fathom the mind of an idiot such as that, it makes me feel sick." Vincent shuddered at a sudden breeze. "I just wish this darkness were a bit warmer, I hate the cold." He pulled out a lighter and clicked it several times. The little flame sprang to life, barely warming his fingers.

Rose looks up a little confused, she hadnt even noticed the chill. " it is rather chilly isant it. hmmmm..." she looked at the lighter and then at the tree. there wasnt much grass where they were. she got up and snaped off a few branches from the tree, then layed them on the ground where there was not grass. then turning she took the lighter from him and lit the branched, and handed him back him lighter. " why dont you try that." she said sitting back down under the tree gazing into the fire.

"Typically I avoid bright flames when Im on duty. I find that the enemy can shoot me easier." He chuckled, "But I guess this is preferable to freezing to death." He squatted down and poked at the fire with a dried reed. "I wish that there were some way to utilize fire as a covert weapon, instead of a bright stream."

Rose smirks and looks at the fire, " ya know i have been wondering the same thing, and what i have found out is very interesting." without warning she shot her arm out into the fire. her fingures out in the flames. even though her flesh was in the fire it didnt burn. she moved her hand around before pulling it out. the tips of her fingures lit. she twirled her hand around expecting the flames. " what most people havent notices is that the fire is no longer a deathly problem. anyone infected with the Night Sickness has been adapting for as long as it has been in existance. thats why we are so different from them, but not many would look deeper into the changes. i reaziled one day that when the flames touched it didnt hurt. i also relized that not everyone had this, but some unknowingly did. if the ones who are able to do this find a way to use it was a weapon that would be another level higher than the SUN side." she blew out the flikering lights and smiled up at Vincent. " as for the Sun army seeing the fire, who cares if they coem they die. i wont lose any sleep over it."

Vincent nodded and swished a hand through the flames, his hand catching fire. To his surprise it didn't burn, but tingled slightly. "Now thats curious." He laughed loudly and shook his head. "The sun is in for a surprise if he finds an army of flaming soldiers bearing down on him. How much would you bet that nightmare would use that?"

" there is no doubt in my mind that he would, but i dont think anyone should tell Nightmare just yet." Rose stares intensivly into the flames, " If Nightmare found out now he would rust into it and send every soilder we have into the fire to attack in that state. but like i said not everyone can do this and the ones who cant will die, leaving our numbers drasticly lowered. and even if everyone could do this there is no way to fight with it yet. all i know if it wont kill us but not a way to use it as a weapon yet. they would just end up running at the Light covered in fire but that wont help if they dont know how to use it to their advantage." Rose looks up at Vincent, "so please sont tell Nightmare yet. not until we figure out more about this. i'm trusting you." she snaped her fingures and the flames became a little higher.

"Sure thing. But I think I have a few ideas of how to weaponize it." He muttered, a thoughtful expression on his face. "Ive heard of an extinct form of warrior called the 'battle rager'. They used no weapons in battle, instead they used their own body, along with ridged armor. They were berserkers who threw themselves at the enemy, literally, thrashing about, and would literally shred the doomed opponent to bits. They were rather stupid, had poor hygiene, and had no regard for their own safety, or their allies for that matter. As long as there was something to fight, they were happy. If we manage to get modern versions of those, then we can weaponize this ability you've found."

"hmmmm." Rose thinks on it for a few minutes, " you may be on to something, but for all we know only a select few have this ability. so by all means work on that theory but please dont tell anyone or get to over your head in all this. just until i have time to go over this a little more....." suddenly Rose hears a sound not to far from where they were. Rose snaped her figures again and blows on the fire. it lowers to barly embers but still able to be relite easily. even in the darkness Rose knew it must be a scout that had seen the light. She untied a knife from her belt and threw it in the direction of the person coming. you didnt need to see to know it hit, or atleast pinned them to the ground or tree like she tryed for. "would you like the honor or shall i?"

"your loss." Rose said smiling and unhooking two more knives. Rose walked foward until she was only feet away from the man. he was stuggling her knife had pinned him still not letting him move from the spot. she took another step closer so that the light from the tourch he droped showed her. the man looked up and stopped when he saw her, to him he just looked like a young Light girl, "what are you doing here. leave now before whoever did this comes back......" he just kept rambling on. he was bleeding at his side where the knife had hit him. she smiled and stepped closer and said, "what do you mean. i AM the one who did this." he looked frightened when he relized what that must mean, "but your not a Dark child you a Light arnt you!" he yelled. she laughed and sat down enjoying his being scared. she kicked off her boots which reviled her tattoo on her ankle showing her alliance to Nightmare and took out her contacts. it was clear that she wasnt a Light. the man started to freak out trying even harder to get free but the kife wouldnt budge. " Rose stood and stepped closer until she was inches away dont always judge by appearances, they may fool you." Rose then jumped back and let her knives fly. they killed the man on inpact. Rose smiled and leaned back on the branch she landed on and fell back so she was now upside down on the branch. "job well done if i do say so myself."

Vincent glanced to the man, then back to rose, and back to the man again. He suddenly doubled over with malicious laughter. "The look on his face... priceless... just priceless." He managed to squeeze out between fits of laughter.
