Sukotto's Training Theme

Thankfully, Sukotto managed to catch himself at the last moment and prevented the water from laying claim to his body once again. He felt as though he were getting the hang of the chakra flare, but was still quite a ways off from mastering the technique. This time around, he managed to get the chakra extremely close to the bottom of his feet, but he knew that he'd need to get it even closer to fully realize the flare. The Uchiha knew that he would be dedicating then next few years to the creation of this jutsu and wondered if those years would be a waste of the precious training time before he entered the chuunin exams to aquire the required rank that would allow him to legally create a team of his own. Without this privilage, Sukotto would have a very difficult time rounding up a squad of younger ninja to accompany him on the journey to the Bird Country. He decided that he'd put nearly all of his effort into the learning of this jutsu, for if it was possible, he felt as though he'd need lots of practice to properly perfect it for the chuunin exams.

Sukotto's Training Theme

Having made two successful training attempts, Sukotto figured that the exercise would finally begin to get a little easier to do. He had fallen into the water once and came very close in his previous attempt to experiment with the chakra flare. He already wanted to enter the next stage of the training, but knew that it was important that he made sure that he had some hands on expeirience with the technique before entering the intellectual and planning stage for the jutsu. If he merely meditated about the jutsu without first getting a feel for the chakra flare, the Uchiha would surely have a much more difficult time planning on how to train himself, since he wouldn't have any clue as to what he should work on to make sure that he made forward progress when learning the jutsu. Sukotto closed his eyes and continued to concentrate on what his chakra did when it neared his feet. If he managed to understand exactly what was happening, he'd be able to figure out what to do in order to make the flare work.

Sukotto's Training Theme

The extra chakra that he transferred to his lower legs made Sukotto feel slightly bottom heavy, which was exactly what he was looking for. In actuality, he believed that it wasn't weighing him down, but instead helping to form a stronger bond between his feet and the water. If he managed to make it so he stuck to the water like glue, then he would be able to send a large surge of energy down through his feet into the water, which would effectively create the flare that he had been aiming for. In addition to creating the sticking effect and sending a flare of chakra through his feet, Sukotto would need to learn how to quickly "turn off" the adhesive chakra and stop the flow of the flare. If he wasn't able to do this, he would stick his feet to opponents and then be unable to disconnect himself from them by means of his own will. It was likely that they'd get him off of them in some way, but if he were able to control it, it would give him much more of an advantage when using the jutsu.

Sukotto's Training Theme

Thankfully, the shinobi was correct in assuming that his training would get easier after successfully understanding the chakra flare a few times. He felt as though he had now managed to glue himself to the water firmly enough to begin to actually attempt the flare. If he was able to make the water stir a little, he would know that he was on the right track. What Sukotto wished to do was stir up the water so much that one could easily mistake him for a water style user. This would take heavy concentration and a lot of chakra control to produce, but the Uchiha would do everything he could to make it happen. He imagined that his friend, and practically little sister Aya would have practiced similar exercises when she first began learning how to manipulate water. However, she would have had the advantage of mixing her chakra with the water to make it move, similar to the chemical reaction between baking soda and vinegar. Sukotto would have to use his chakra as something more along the lines of a spoon that would merely stir up the water instead of mix itself with it.

Without much trouble, the Uchiha managed to cause the water surrounding the area immediately around his feet to shake a little, forming small bubbles on the surface. He allowed a satisfied smile to curl his lips, as he finally took one step towards proving that the chakra-enhanced version of his taijutsu was in fact possible. However, he couldn't celebrate for too long, for a few bubbles in the water surely wasn't enough for him to claim that he had mastered the chakra flare. The Uchiha would need to focus on sending more chakra to his legs and to do this in a fashion that was more efficient and speedy than he had previously done. Since his taijutsu was speed-based, he definitely wouldn't have much time to manipulate his chakra to set up for the flare when he was launching a kick or two at an opponent. Additionally, the chakra that caused the water to bubble slightly wouldn't be enough to actually create any sort of enhancement that would aid him in damaging his opponent with the modified taijutsu.

On his first attempt of increasing the amount of chakra in his legs to cause a more dramatic reaction of the water, Sukotto felt his feet dig into the liquid too much, causing him to lose the grip on the fluid. He decided from that point that he would have to focus on making the flow of chakra more efficient before attempting to increase the amount of energy that he used. Sukotto wanted to make his body into a chakra-funnel of sorts. He wanted to pour in chakra from his upper body into a focused area in his legs. Like a funnel however, he would need to control how much chakra he poured into his legs at any given time, or else his chakra funnel would overflow, causing him to waste energy and making the technique ineffective and even dangerous to himself if enough chakra spilled over. Keeping this in mind, he began to concentrate on slowly moving the chakra into his legs and down through his feet to the water, where it would gently breach the surface so that he could stir up the water and better understand the properties of the chakra flare.

While he performed better than he had when trying to force the chakra through his feet and into the water, Sukotto still hadn't quite gotten the hang of making his chakra network behave like the funnel that he intended on making it into. It seemed as though he were having a bit of trouble keeping his balance on the water, so Sukotto decided that he would have to strengthen the hold that he had on the surface of the liquid, so that he would have a more solid foundation to work with. If all went well and he didn't end up in the drink, Sukotto figured that he would have a much easier time in sending his chakra into the water to move it around and proving that the flare existed. His brow furrowed as he tightened his hands that still held the bird seal. He would need to transfer a little reserve chakra for this action and doing so had a potential risk of bringing him closer to falling into the water, so Sukotto did his very best to concentrate on only the task at hand, instead of allowing his mind to wander to other devices, which would likely cause him to fail what it was he was attempting.

Unfortunately, the transfer of chakra did what Sukotto tried to prevent it from doing and caused him to nearly fall over into the water. To save his balance, he quickly attempted to move the chakra that he had been using to cause the flare into the area of his feet that held to the water. He figured that with the increased amount of energy in that area, he'd be able to firmly stick himself to the water and save himself from wasting more time by falling into the cold liquid. A momentary thought of Senritsu crossed the genin's mind as he felt the bond between his feet and the water to fail. He wondered just how their bond would be altered in the coming years, especially since the two of them seemed to be growinjg up so quickly, and with that in the shinobi world came many responsibilities. They'd likely each be sent out on missions and that could potentially put a strain on their relationship with one another. For a moment, Sukotto wondered why he had become so attached to the female Uchiha in such a short amount of time, but that thought was quickly quelled by the chilly water that Sukotto had fallen in to.

Sukotto crawled out of the water with a frown on his face and shook himself off as if he were a dog emerging from a swim. This caused him to chuckle slightly, as he couldn't believe that he had just imagined himself as an animal. The genin began to ponder what sort of animal he 'would' be if his fate of birth had been different from that of an Uchiha. Sukotto was always so fascinated with the way that birds glided through the sky, and had often imagined what it would be like to see the world from so high up in the sky. He wondered if there were any mountains on the nearby mainland to allow him to see such a glorious sight, and was a little sad when he figured that he'd never get the full experience of flying unless he or another shinobi invented some sort of technique that allowed a ninja to fly. Unfortunately, Sukotto figured that such a technique would be impossible to create, unless the user had an extreme amount of chakra, and he certainly did not.

After getting himself all warmed up and dried off, Sukotto quickly made his way back out to the water, where he continued his chakra flare training. He slid his hands into the seal of the bird, moved his feet into strategic positions that would allow him to balance himself on the water in the most effective way, and then began to accumulate chakra near the bottoms of his feet. Just like before, he felt himself become bonded with the water more firmly than he had been when merely walking on its surface. He then continued to do what he could to make this chakra and water bond as strong as he could. It was likely that if the jutsu creation was successful, he wouldn't need such a strong bond to be formed with his opponent's body, however, in order to properly understand the nature of the chakra flare, Sukotto knew that he would have to go a little bit out of his way in his training. The tactics of using more power and more speed hadn't worked for him, so he would simply use more control and more intelligence.

Sukotto's Training Theme

Sukotto still couldn't quite get his feet to latch to the water as effectively as he had hoped for, so he temporarily gave up on the idea and resorted to what he had been doing before, attempting the flare with more speed and power. To concentrate a little better, the Uchiha simply closed his eyes and did his best to clear his mind of all thoughts. While he managed to keep it blank for a while, the thoughts of Senritsu managed to peek in. Little did he realize, the fact that he stopped trying so hard made it so that the Uchiha successfully took a step forward in his training. The bond between his feet and the water strengthened, even though he hadn't intending to make it do so, and the speed and intensity of the chakra flowing into the water also increased as well. However, the Uchiha merely kept himself thinking of the time that he and Senritsu had spent together in the previous days leading to his present moment. He remembered meeting her while he was learning his Phoenix Form, and she started out by teasing him about beating up on the tree that he had been using to train with. A smile cracked the serious expression on his face as he thought of how things hadn't changed since then.

The Uchiha then thought about how it was a little strange that she had been willing to train with him. The girl didn't seem lazy or anything, but she definitely wasn't the type to take her training as seriously as Sukotto always had. He wondered and sort of hoped that spending time with him had been part of the reason why she had accepted his offer to train her. One of the genin's eyebrows raised above the other as be also began to wonder why he cared about her intentions so much. He had originally thought of Senritsu as a friend, but as time went on and as he moved further into his mind, he began to see things a little more differently. However, his thoughts were soon interrupted by a loss of balance, as he drifted out of the innate concentration that his mind had shifted into while imagining his first encounter with Senritsu. Shaking his head slightly to realign his concentration, Sukotto moved back into a state where his mind was more focused on the training than other thoughts. He figured that it would be best not to lose himself to his mind while he was standing above freezing water and quickly attempting to create a jutsu.

Sukotto felt as though he was getting very close to finally understanding the nature of the chakra flare. After he had a clear cut grasp of what it could potentially do for him, he would be able to enter the intellectual stage and figure out what the flare could do for his taijutsu. For the time being though, he knew that he couldn't think ahead too far, as his chakra had proven that it required a lot of attention to control. The Uchiha tightened his muscles and then relaxed them in an attempt to also take his mind off of the stiffening body that had been created by the cold and his stationary training. He was determined to get the training done fast so that he could begin the long process of figuring out how the enhanced taijutsu form would incorporate the chakra flare, using the special method to allow Sukotto to stick himself to opponents. A more devastating and accurate taijutsu would surely give him a better advantage in the chuunin exams, especially since the original version of the fighting style on its own was enough to defeat the tag team duo of Maya and Baki. Sukotto marveled at what an enhanced version of that would be capable of.

In fact, Sukotto had managed to take on two opponents while barring himself from using any offensive ninjutsu, which was his strength in the first place. With a chakra-enhanced taijutsu, devastating super-ninjutsu attack, and a few other tricks up his sleeve, Sukotto figured that he would have an alright chance in the chuunin exams. He wasn't at all sure what the skill of the genin in the neighboring villages were, but he imagined that many of them wielded techniques that he had never even read of before. The thought of this kind of power both intrigued and frightened the hard-working Uchiha. He wished to do well in the tournament, but he also wanted there to be a certain degree of challenge for him so that any victory would feel as though it were earned through all of his training and studying. After the tournament, Sukotto felt as though he would definitely be ready to take on the mission to the Bird Country that he had planned on embarking on with a squad of young shinobi that he would train himself. Not only would this tournament cause him to train like crazy beforehand, he would also gain a lot of experience by witnessing what sort of ninja were really out there.

Sukotto's Training Theme

Sukotto sighed lightly and did his best to relax his body that had become so rigid from all of the concentration that he had been doing to successfully perform the chakra flare while sticking his feet to the water that laid beneath him. He hadn't had very much luck since his last success, but wouldn't allow that to dampen his spirits enough to cause him to fail any more frequently than he would have with more confidence. He simply pressed on, which was what he figured was all he could do for the time being. The Uchiha took in a deep breath to follow up his sigh, and sent his chakra reaching down into the water, hoping that it would move the liquid around and lead him to more information about the chakra flare that he so desperately sought to understand. He then began to wonder if this increased chakra control would help him in any other sort of way in his future. Sukotto figured that it would, and that it was long overdue for him to practice controlling his chakra.
