// Aw, bye... //

"I assure you, I won't." Blackstone replied with a small grin himself. He couldn't die anyway, so no worry in them both getting killed.

(( LOL ))

Dr. Elliott nodded. "Alright. Now, my return will mean that Hush will have to lay low for a while. Batman WILL be looking for him as soon as he realizes I'm back. He knows we're one and the same, but few others do. The few that do, I can get on our side. They've worked with me in the past. Very well, I might add. Hush WILL be out and about, though. I like to watch my plans unfold, albeit from a distance. I, on the other hand, will be very busy making myself noticed. So noticed, in fact, that anything you do should be well under the radar. Especially to the Bat. They don't call him the World's Greatest Detective for nothing, and anything that can be done to keep him ignorant of any plans for as long as possible will probably be a neccesity."

[enter the Joker and Rosie from The Museum]

The '41 Lincoln Continental came to an abrupt halt in front of the old comedy club. The words 'Laff Tyme', obviousy made to be lit in neon, were now faded and dark. The doors looked as if they were boarded shut, as did the windows. The only light around was the street lights' yellow glow. "And here we are," the clown said, turning the car off. Turning to Rosie again, he said, "Really, hon, none of this is your fault, so don't look so sad." The Clown Prince of Crime unbuckled and got out of the car.

// mrgreen //

Blackstone thought for a moment. This Batman was that good, was he? "I won't start with any personal plans until we have a solid start with our own then. Once things are settled, I'll see what I can do to get what I want done as quietly as possible."
He knew of no one here that he could use. So far the only ones he did know would be the ones to be the first to alert the Bat. He'd have to convince them that he had no intention of going after them. And, to be honest, he didn't. No experimental labs for him to run. No heroes other than them that he had a personal agenda with. Plus, he'd already made them suffer a great deal. He could be convincing that he simply wanted to get back on his feet again in this world.

The news didn't seem to comfort her much. Rosie sat in the car a moment longer, hesitating. She loosened her grip on her doll and unbuckled herself. Carefully, she opened the door and slid out of the car, gently closing the door behind her. She stood beside the car, hugging her doll against her, waiting to be told what to do next.

Walking to the door, the clown grabbed a plank of wood and gave it a twist. Apparently, he had altered it to be used as a doorknob, as the door swung open easily. "Well, come on. Mi casa es su casa," Joker said to her, a friendly smile on his face again, as he held the door for her.

Rosie looked up at him a moment, but made no hesitation this time. Carefully, she walked towards him and through the open door, still hugging her little doll.

Closing the door behind them, the Joker turned the lights on, revealing a surprisingly cozy place, fully furnished, albeit not as nicely as the place that the future Bat had helped trash. "Rosie, dear, take a seat," he said in a surprisingly normal tone. In every way but one, he had dropped his act. He was the man behind the curtain, and in his mind, he was simply getting a co-star into the right mindframe for the part she was to play. He sat down in a large recliner chair, elbows on the armrests, fingers tounching its opposite hand's equal. "I want you to tell me everything you know about your mother." He wasn't smiling, but he didn't look angry. He was simply being serious.

Rosie looked at him a moment, still clearly nervous about the whole thing. Slowly, she made her way towards a seat across from him and climbed onto it. Once seated, she hesitated a moment before saying anything. Then, finally, looked up at him.
"...what happened?"

"After we left?" the Joker asked. "Well, we went on to meet up with an old business aquaintance of mine, and, long story sort, our plan was foiled. Your mother, who claimed to care SO much for me, ran off and left me to my fate. She was more worried about her own skin, when I had already said that I could help her. I almost died in my escape without her, but that's generally what happens when you jump out of a thirty-some story window. I'm here now, because I'm afraid that she'll do the same thing to you, whom she ALSO claims to love so much. I don't want that to happen. Her and my differences aside, I DO still like you very much, and I don't want anything like that to happen to you. I WON'T let anything like that happen to you. That little scene on the bus was a result of me wanting to make sure she doesn't get that chance." His tone remained at this unusual serious tone he'd started using since their arrival. His eyes had remained locked onto hers the whole time he had spoken, and continued to be so when he continued. "This is why I need to know everything YOU know. The more you tell me, the better I can prepare. So, again, tell me everything you know about your mother."

Rosie stared at him a moment, her nervous expression now replaced with confusion. "But...she wouldn't." she said quietly. "She wouldn't have just left you. She liked you. Y-you had to have done something to make her mad. And she wouldn't hurt me. She wouldn't let anyone hurt me."

"That's what I thought, too, kiddo," the Joker said, "But she left me for dead. And I almost was. Look," The clown stood up and unbuttoned his top, revealing his lean, ghost white torso, now covered with some VERY wicked-looking marks and bruising. "They'll go away, with time. They always do. There's more, on my legs, where they broke upon my landing." Sitting back down, the clown sighed sadly. "I think I honestly loved your mom, my dear, and I never would've done anything to her. But now, I'm just worried about you."

The look of confusion on Rosie's face grew. "But...but she liked..." she trailed off quietly. She...she still should have been able to take Joker with her. There had to have been some reason. There just HAD to. She liked him.
"She...she won't hurt me. I know she won't."

Joker's lock on her eyes remained constant. "You just said that she wouldn't have left me, but she did. In front of my worst enemy, and several of his friends, no less. The man that we had gone to meet got captured himself. She was more than capable of helping everyone, but she only ran away, leaving us to pick up the pieces. Do you REALLY know if she won't? Honestly, do you anymore?"
