Okay, then, let me try to explain a little better, if you like.

I believe that on some level, I am "other" than human. This is on a soulic level, however, not on a physical or concrete level. I believe that my soul is non-human. My body, my brain, my heart, my mind... All of these things are human, and therefore, I am still essentially human. But what separates me from that humanity is my soul.

A longer definition is written here.
That is very nice, but you still have not dealt with the heart of the matter, that being the definition of a human soul and what distinguishes it from that of, say, a duck. It is also my contention that, for the majority of humanity, this is their first time around as humans, and only rarely does one repeat a grade for whatever reason. Therefore, the label of "otherkin" is a false label and should be changed to better fit the reality of the situation. I would suggest proudly wearing the label of "normal" so that those of us who have a little more experience at being human can give you pointers on how to better live your present lives.

Wolf>> Sorry. Changelings are not as White Wolf would have you believe.

I admit, I have read and played Changeling the Dreaming by white wolf. But I have also heard and read more than just that. Also bear in mind that white wolf usually is pretty good about doing thier research. And the only real reference I think you could of used to white wolf was the part about my friend. I have other reasons (has explained) for my feelings of "Otherness".

No. White Wolf does not do it's homework! They take titles and names, and then make up their own stuff. As AJ says "Their research is okay, until they mash everything up and put it in a blender".

It's like naming George Bush Jr. "King of America"... Ehg! Wrong. Name is right- they have a vague concept of the power he has, but it isn't anything close to the truth.

A Changeling historically is someone who was stolen away from their parents and raised by Fae/Faeries etc..., thus when/if they are returned they are "off"- also, when they are not returned, a faerie babe is left in their place- so those people are faeries, but are often called changelings.

And, before we have any "Then I'm a fairy baby!!!" claims, adding in that these changelings were NOT pleasant adorable Legolas-clones of hotness.

They were more like little financial drains from hell. They ate too much, they were demanding, they screamed all the time...

Not desirable babies, and often an excuse or justification to go expose your child. Since, y'know, the fairies would come take it back and give you your real child back if you did.

It was also a justification for infanticide.

Which is exactly why I said: ...and often an excuse or justification to go expose your child.

Sorry. Wasn't exactly sure what you meant by that.

I believe the Changeling theory is possible. I also think that some "otherkin" are actually Changelings that were taken in much the same way other 'changelings' are. It would explain their sense of being not quite human.

Pardon the stupid question, but how do the faeries get past hospital security?

I'm sorry, but the skeptic in me can only see this as an ancient excuse to cover up bad parenting, similar to calling someone a "devil's child" or "bad seed".

So now you're better than me? Wonderful. Great to see you have your ego in check.

And there is no such thing as normal. Normal is a buzz word to describe trends, and there are always exceptions to trends in this world. I believe that souls are what create our personalities. Sure, there are biological factors and environmental factors, but I think that in the end, our personalities are all determined by what type of soul we have. Now, I'll have to do more research on this, but as a budding psychologist, this is truly what I believe. That's not to say that one group of people is better than another, but it is to say that there are fundamental differences, just as there are fundamental differences between the femal and the male soul. I know, I know, not a popular theory, but that's what I think.

It is very large. I do what I can. I also have a very large shadow. Would you like to see that too? I'm working on integrating the two into a much more whole and powerful 'self', to use Jung's vocabulary. Pardon my dust along the way to enlightenment.

And as another budding psychologist, I think that you have some uniqueness issues that need sorting out. Human souls are already as unique and individual as male and female, if not more so. There is no need to add artificial distinctions that only serve to obscure the real ones. And 'other' is just as much a buzz word as 'normal', though they both have very important meanings in statistics, which is required learning in the psychological field, unless I am mistaken.

I actually ran into a native american healer-type (pleeease don't ask me details I'm not in touch with him anymore and have no idea what tribe or exact practice) who felt that the feeling of otherness was largely to do with the continuing disconnect we experience from nature with urban living and whatnot and attempts to create an artificial bond with something perceived as bigger-and-better in lieu of that, and his concern that children run away into their heads to hide from the world, so naturally when they're forced to come back down to earth (so to speak) they feel other, because they've spent so long trying to BECOME other that they forgot to learn to just exist here.

Not necessarily my views, just thought I'd throw that out there in light of the continuing changeling/psychology/otherkin lines of thought.
