Her eyes widened at the thought of Conner of dying here. She thought of only seeing him as a translucent figure that faded without warning or only hearing his voice as a faint whisper in the back of her mind and she knew she wouldn't be able to handle it. Random wolves and people she didn't know were fine but to only be connected to the one she loved by that one, tiny thread was not enough. She caught Conner looking back at her and she stared at him for a moment and felt her tears staining her pure white fur. She knew that look. He would do it... he would die if only to protect her. She returned her gaze to meet Maverick's and took a deep breath.
"The only ghost I see coming to visit me is yours." Her voice shook with her anger and her fear. "I won't let you hurt him!"
Don't let him get to you. The voice in her head warned.

Conner blinked. Suddenly, he was the damsel. Feeling rather silly now, he sighed and sat down on his rear. For now, he could only sit close, still protectively half in front of his love, and wonder at the many layers that made up Yuurei. That she was willing to stand up for him during a threat, that was special.
If Maverick made any motion to come closer though, Conner would be up and running to attack. He also was carefully watching the other male, searching for signs that he might use his water ability. Maybe this might throw off the threat, diminish the anger by confusion.
"Oh, I'm pretty sure you wouldn't want me as your ghost." Maverick crooned. "But isn't that nice. Affection between freaks. Maybe your babies will be see-through with bows in their tails." An eyebrow cocked as Conner sat down. What was this now? "What? Have I made you bored?"

She had to agree with the dark moonlit for once on something. If he did die anytime soon, she certainly didn't want to see his ghost. He would be the kind that was destructive and threw things... he'd be an annoyance in death just as he was being in life. Yuurei was at the end of her patience.
"What do you even want from me?" She pressed, closing her eyes and shaking her head. He was giving her a headache. "Is your pride that wounded that I gave you a little scratch?"

Conner turned and placed his paw onto Yuurei's. "He thrives on making others angry or fearful when he's in this state." He whispered to her. "He has calmed down from before, so lets get through this logically." He took a deep breath to both calm himself and show Yuurei. He would get them away from Maverick as soon as he could.
Maverick cocked his head, eyes darkening as his mood fluctuated again. "Pride? What use is pride in a world that laughs at honor?" He shook his head. In his current state, not even he knew why he was fixated on Yuurei. Maybe it was simply because she was with Conner. Maybe it was because she had scratched him. He didn't care though.
"What my reasons are has no matter here. I am here, you are there, and you ran off before we could finish playing." He said the word 'playing' with an edge, crouching down as a geyser of water like before sprung from over his head and right at the couple.

((lolz I forgot to put headache in my last post.... I fail ))
Yuurei calmed the moment she felt Conner place his paw atop hers. She closed her eyes and nodded. Yes, logic would have to be the way out of this but would it work? She felt like a walking contradiction by having such optimistic thoughts but a pessimistic attitude. It was frustrating. She tried to take a deep breath as she heard Conner do and fought back a reply to Maverick.
"He's being such a child...." She said softly to Conner.
Pay attention girl! Her guardian's shrill voice hissed. She opened her eyes and gasped at the sight of the geyser of water barreling towards her. The sudden shock of it froze her for a moment she closed her eyes and tried to will her paws to move.
Move, move, move!!
"I'm trying!" She hissed
Try Harder!

Conner resisted the urge to lick Yuurei's cheek. Now was not the time for affection! Hearing her gasp, Conner's head snapped around to see the geyser. He yelped and shoved Yuurei to the side, taking most of the the geyser on his hind leg. It stung terribly and he bared his teeth at Maverick, a low growl deep in his throat.
Maverick smirked. He had noticed Yuurei freeze the moment, and felt the euphoria of causing another's fear. Especially this brat's. He laughed at Conner. "Oh, whatcha gonna do, Connie? You wanna fight?" He too bared his teeth, taunting the wolves.

Shoved out of the way, Yuurei fell hard to the ground and rolled some distance from the two. The impact with the ground jolted her senses and she knew her moment of fear induced hesitation had passed. Her shoulder was stinging from where she had landed and that throbbing pain was enough to keep her from concentrating on her fear for the moment.
Get up! The voice echoed in her thoughts. Get up and stop this.
Yuurei heard Conner snarl and she gingerly pushed herself to her paws and looked at the two males baring their fangs at each other.
"Please... don't fight..." She pleaded weakly. "Please...."

Maverick laughed. "Please, don't fight." He mocked. "There's no other way to get stronger girl." He laughed again, until a familiar cloud pressed around him. "You coward!" He snapped. He had learned from the last time. Instead of running, he stood in place, aiming at where he thought Yuurei had been and where Conner would soon be.
Conner was one taunt away from lunging at Maverick when he heard Yuurei's plea. He didn't want to run again, especially after the darker male's insult to his love, but if she didn't want him to fight...
Dodging another geyser, he set of his own ability, watching in disappointment as Maverick was covered in a cloud of dust.
Moving quickly, he tried to help Yuurei onto her paws while dodging the geysers flying out from the cloud, passing dangerously close. "Hurry Yuurei." He said softly, hiding his shame. What had he gotten Yuurei into? How could he have let her become subject to such madness?

Yuurei looked up at Conner as he helped her to her paws and she cringed when she heard Maverick taunting them both. She disagreed with what he said to her and she shook her head. A sudden flash of a memory struck her and she would have fallen over had Conner not been near. She shook the dark memory away, choosing not to dwell on it and nodded when Conner whispered to her. She could almost feel the water from the geysers getting close and she began to quickly and as quietly as she could, start towards the trees away from Maverick.

Conner followed Yuurei closely, standing mostly behind her should a geyser actually be on target. Hearing a thump, he turned, just seeing Maverick's muzzle get covered again by his cloud. Conner's ears flipped back. "Just run Yuurei!"
Maverick suddenly pounced forward. The cloud followed closely, but he had just enough time to glimpse where Conner and Yuurei were, both with their backs to him as they tried to sneak off. He grinned, vanishing into the cloud again as he readied a powerful shot which practically exploded out of the cloud, coming up on the two wolves fast.

The young female wolf was extremely worried and she hated being worried. Yuurei should have been at the house ages ago but she never showed up. It wasn't something she usually did... she always kept her promises. The sound of water rushing and slamming into things caught her attention. Fumeiyo followed the noise, unsure of what it was and unsure what was making it but she finally stumbled up the small area beside a pool of water and was shocked at what she found. Yuurei was trying to escape while a green wolf with ribbons was following her closely. Another wolf was covered with dust and was the one, she came to the conclusion, was shooting the geysers of water. No... she was not having that at all. A snarl escaped her as she slid down the hillside and used that momentum to launch herself at the dark wolf to knock him over.
Yuurei only nodded and picked up speed. If they would get to the line of trees, they could lose him.... Almost there.... She glanced back just to see what he was doing and gasped at what she saw.
"Conner watch out!" She called to him when she spotted the water coming in their direction.

Conner reacted, jumping onto Yuurei so they both dropped to the ground. The geyser shot over them, the breeze ruffling their fur. As soon as it passed, he jumped up with every intention to get back at Maverick, but the sound of another arrival made him pause, shocked to find a female attacking Maverick. So confused, he only stood in place over Yuurei.
Maverick was smirking underneath the cloud of dust that had started to thin when he heard a snarl. He only had time to look before getting bashed onto his side. He rolled away, jumping to his paws and snarling at the new attacker. Some girl?! "Who are you to get in my way?!" He shot off, glaring at the female, Conner and Yuurei nearly forgotten.

Fumei felt extremely satisfied to have knocked the male over and she caught herself before she two fell over and rolled on the ground. She watched as he jumped to his paws and snarled at her and she growled, baring her fangs at him.
"Who are you to attack my sister?" She hissed in return, flicking her tail angrily.
Yuurei let out a yelp as Conner jumped onto her. She fell to the ground and winced at the shock of the impact. Even though the adrenaline as keeping her fear somewhat at bay, it was failing to do so with some of the pain. She knew she was going to be sore later... that is, if they managed to get away. She felt Conner jump up and was afraid that he was going to go back to Maverick and fight. She sat up slowly and had begun to ask him to continue running with her but caught his look of confusion. She turned back to where she knew Maverick was. She let out a gasp of surprise.
"Fumei...?"

Conner looked back at Yuurei. "You know her?" He asked in surprise. He should be able to help now. It would be two against one.
Maverick stuck out his tongue, his voice going candy-goo sweet. "Ohh. Sibling love." Then it dropped. "How pathetic." He scoffed. "This ain't your fight girl, or do you think your sisty is too weak to fight for herself. This should make her feel ashamed, you know, that you can't let her defend herself. She needed her little Connie's help too."

"Oh but that is where you're wrong." She said, attempting to mimic his sickeningly sweet voice he used with her. Fumeiyo flicked her tail agitatedly and frowned. "You see, whoever you are...you mess with my sister, you mess with me."
She shot a quick look at her little sister and assumed that the male she was near wasn't a threat after all. What he was to her sister, Fumei would have to deal with later.
"I've known her all my life..." Yuurei looked at Conner and after a moment, she nodded and gestured towards her sister with her paw. "She's my older sister...."
