He closed his eyes and sighed in exasperation. "Look. I'm not disrespecting you. I need to keep you distant on the off chance that one day I will be ordered to kill you." He opened his eyes and looked at her. His gaze was slightly disquieting; one could tell that he had seen and dealt a lot of death. "My government is the only one to care for me. I would have died without their intervention. As such, I follow all of their orders, no matter what."

"So you refuse to speak to me, but you want a word with him?" she laughed harshly, her eyes flashing with judgment. "And why would I be a target for Japan, It's not as if my country has the money or power for war.” She smirked and clasped her hands firmly behind her back. “In fact I’m probably the least likely hear to be targeted for anything. “ She spoke out of truth she was very different from the fighters, very very different.

He sighed again. "I don't want a word with him. I want him to ask a question." He froze. "Did you just say Japan?" He stared at her, disbelief mixing with disgust on his face.

"Yes I said Japan, I'm guessing that’s were you are from. Right?" she second guessed her self. She was getting a little nervous so she put her fight hand into her pocket and pulled put what appeared to be a flat pinkish grey yo-yo. With out looking at it she twisted it so that it expanded and slipped it onto her finger.
"What's the question, maybe I can help with your needs." she released the toy and it plummeted towards the floor only to race back up towards her open hand. She repeated the action many times quickening the pace as she did.

Refusing to be outdone, he pulled a knife out of seemingly nowhere, twirling it lightly across his fingers. "I. Am not. Japanese," he grated out. "Now, sir, if you would be kind enough to answer my question, I'll take my leave."

At the sight of a knife she stepped back quickly. They were not permitted to have their weapons and she had to give up all of her knifes before she even got on the helicopter. All she had was her training devices, and she did not want to be caught at knife point with no defense. She took another step back giving herself some distance.

He realized what he was doing and smiled. He threw the knife in the air, spun, and it fell into a sheath on the back of his shoulder. He turned back to them, serious.

Gabriel sighed and stepped forward towards the man, staying between him and Beth. He knew he could've lost the man, but it was pointless now, "He's Chinese." he corrected, "And yes, I am a military man." His posture was straight and he showed no signs of being threatened.

He cocked an eyebrow. "And how do you reach that conclusion?" he asked, leaning back a little as he crossed his arms.

"Mostly from your appearance." answered Gabriel, "As I assume you know, not all Asian people look alike, most have slight distinguishing traits that most people don't bother to notice, like tooth and jaw alignment." he explained, "But I degress, sir, place take your leave now or start showing this military-woman the proper respect, preferably the same you show me." he said, gesturing towards Beth. He looked back to her and smiled, giving her a quick wink and gestured for her to relax before returning his gaze to the man.

Beth stood up straighter and stepped out from behind Gab to stand at his side. She held her head high and looked straight into the man's eyes. "I'm sorry for miss placing your ethnical background, Please forgive me for being so rude." she said and clasped her hands tightly at the small of her back. He did deserve an apology, she had been wrong about him. "But understand this, I have no wish to harm you and never will, I expect the same form everyone. This is a sacred peace time and I refuse to have any tension between us because of what our governments might do someday."

He shrugged. "Apology accepted. And it's not that I wish you harm; indeed, I only wish harm to those who disrespect my government. Rest assured, I would never hurt either of you of my own free will. Only if the order is given." He turned to leave. "Duty, you know?" With that, he set off down the hall.

Beth shook her head. "No, I don't know." she had not been put in the same programs as he. She had gone through programs to teach her to act with her brain and never take an order without first thinking it over. She was expected to choose for herself whether to kill or not and to always make the most just choice. She was not a soldier with the basic military, But an arms specialist only to be sent out for a short list of proposes.
She was mostly just a face of the arms department; her skills with the unusual gave her some memorable identity with the masses, making people interested in joining the military. She was also sent out with heads of state for protection and to make nice with what ever location they were going to. She was chosen because of her appearance and wit, and skill. Unlike the other's here she had never been in a real war, she was to important to be sent into some place with a high death toll.

Gabriel nodded as the man left, he had an idea of what he meant. Being in the Covert Ops meant missions doing more with stealth than killing, though there always was that occasional assassination order, in which case, Gabriel did his best to take the least bloody way out, usually killing only the target before getting away. However, there are almost always people that'll try to kill you before you kill them, and then neither one really has a choice. Gabriel sighed, he'd be more than glad when this was all over with, he was just happy that he was never in the front lines. He looked to Beth and smiled, "Where to now?" he asked.
