Robert gave a nod to the both of them. "Alright. I'll see you both later." Robert spoke before heading up to his room with his pokemon. Flipping through the pages, Robert studied the techniques shown in the book. "Alright, let's start with you Lilly." Robert spoke before taking out the warming massage oil and worked on giving her a nice, thorough massage, paying particular attention to her two horns, which she seemed to enjoy having massaged the most. He massaged each of his pokemon thoroughly and slowly ,being sure to react appropriately to each one's reactions, weather he needed to go lighter or stronger on his touches, and being very careful with Julia and her barbs. Once his pokemon were all relaxed and recharged, it was time for more exploring and training.

As Robert wandered the streets, he came across a little shop that dealt with fishing equipment. There were mydrads of fishing lures, all rather cheap. There were fishing poles, the cheapest being a very simple rod, and the most expensive were the super rods. Looking at his current amount of cash, the best he would be able to afford was an old rod and a few lures. With his next allowance comming in tomarrow, and the contest, Robert left the small shop, intent on returning the next day after the contest. With his allowance money, he would be able to afford a super rod, though he'd also be near broke afterwards. But considering his wilderness survival knowledge, Robert knew he could cope with berries and rationing out his remaining trail rations for a week. Heading back across the bridge, Robert trained with his pokemon until sunset, practicing combos and watching with pride as Sable finally mastered Iron Tail.

After their rest, Jake returned his pokemon and headed over to Misty's gym. "Hello Misty," Jake said as he shook her hand, "I'm Jake of Pallet Town, and I want to challenge you to a gym battle." Misty nodded, "Alright, I was worried I wouldn't have any battles today. Politoed, go!" Misty sent out her Politoed. "Candra go!" Jake sent out his Zubat, Candra.

"Politoed, use bounce!" Politoed bounced in the direction of Candra, then flung himself into the air, striking Zubat with full force. "Zubat, use supersonic!" Zubat opened her mouth and shot a series of soundwaves at Politoed, causing him to be confused. "Politoed, perish song!" Politoed opened his mouth and sang a deadly song. In three turns, Zubat would faint. "Zubat, use air cutter!" Zubat sent a blade of air at Politoed, hitting him. "Politoed, hypnosis!" Politoed opened his mouth and sent a series of soundwaves at Zubat, putting her to sleep. "Zubat, return," Jake didn't have enough time to wake Zubat and then defeat Politoed before the perish count was over, "Beedrill, go and use twinneedle!" Beedrill came from his pokeball and stabbed Politoed with both of his needles. The super effective hit left Politoed with little health left. "Now Beedrill, use fury attack!" Beedrill finished Politoed off with a fury attack. "Alright, Politoed return. Staryu go and use surf!"

Staryu came from the pokeball and sent a wave of water at Beedrill. There was no way Beedrill could dodge this attack. Jake was fortunate that his first two pokemon were airborne, and didn't have to deal with the swimming pools. After getting hit by the surf attack Jake commanded Beedrill, "Use twinneedle again, its still super effective!" Beedrill charged towards Staryu, his stingers ready. "Staryu, use psychic, send Beedrill into that wall!" Staryu use her psychic powers to take control of Beedrill's movement, and sent him crashing into the wall. Beedrill had taken serious damage. "Its okay Beedrill, use focus energy!" Beedrill focused all his energy in his stingers. "Now, use twinneedle again!" Beedrill used twinneedle, landing a critical hit leaving Staryu with little HP left. "Staryu, use rapid spin!" Staryu spun, hitting Beedrill and causing him to faint. "Beedrill, return. Gloom, go and use ingrain!"

Gloom came from her pokeball and planted her roots into the ground. Staryu kept spinning towards Gloom. "Gloom, wait for it...wait for it...wait for it...Now use Mega Drain!" The second before Staryu would have hit Gloom with rapid spin, the beam of green energy came from Glooms head and pushed Staryu away, sucking the rest of its health away. "Staryu, return. Seadra, go and use dragon pulse!"

Seadra came from her pokeball and sent a dragon pulse attack at Gloom. "Its okay Gloom, just take the hit. We can finish this up quickly." Gloom was hit by the Dragon Pulse, pushing her into the water. "Alright Seadra, use take down!" Seadra began to swim towards Gloom. "Gloom use acid, make the water dark and murky!" Gloom began to emit large amounts of acid into the pool, making it hard for Seadra to see. Instead of hitting Gloom, Seadra used take down right into the wall, taking serious damage. "Gloom jump onto that platform and use sleep powder. Then follow up with mega drain!" Gloom jumped onto the nearest platform, sprayed sleep powder at Seadra, and sucked the rest of her health away with mega drain.

Misty and Jake recalled there pokemon. Misty handed Jake the Cascade Badge, "Wow, very nice job Jake. Your Gloom is amazing." Jake accepted the badge, "Thank you. You did really good too." Misty laughed, "Well thank you Jake, you should go to Vermillion City for your next gym battle. While your there, you can attend that S.S. Anne party. Just buy your ticket at the pokecenter." Jake nodded and walked to the pokecenter and got his pokemon healed. He had got his second gym badge.

"Yep," Jake said as he handed Nurse Joy his pokeballs, "You were right, she is pretty tough. But my Gloom proved to be a big hero after all. Which came as a surpise to me. I was most confident about Zubat. How did your training go today?"

Jake picked up one of the fliers and put it in his pocket, "I didn't read one, but Misty told me about the cruise. I think I'm going to enter. It sounds like it would be a lot of fun."

"Yeah, after the contest tomorrow, I'm going to stop at Bill's house and then head on over to Vermillion. Once I get to Vermillion I'm probably going to train my pokemon a bit...so I have more of a chance at winning the tournament."

Jake waved goodbye to Robert, then got his pokemon back from Nurse Joy. He walked into the room and was suprised to see Lola in there. "How'd your gym battle go?" Lola asked. "It went great, but I'm exhausted," Jake sighed. Lola laughed, "I got us some to go food from the cafeteria. I got some for the pokemon too." Jake thanked Lola and sent out his pokemon for dinner. Lola then reached into her bag and took out two pokeballs, revealing her Squirtle and an unfamiliar face. Jake pulled out his pokedex, "Chinchou, it discharges positive and negative electricity from its antenna tips to shock its foes." Jake congradulated Lola for her new pokemon. "I called my sister up after lunch and told her about the contest. We began to talk about how her breeding was coming along and she sent me Chinchou. Isn't she cute? Her ability is volt absorb." Jake nodded and began to eat. After dinner, Jake and Lola went to bed, eager for the next day.

The next morning, Jake woke up to see that Lola was already outside and going over her combinations one last time with her pokemon. Jake quickly took a shower and walked outside. Lola smiled, excited for the contest, and spoke, "Well I've got to go now. The contest is being held in one of the Cerulean City gym's rooms. Be there at the start of the contest to cheer me on, okay?" Jake nodded and Lola headed to the contest hall, where she then signed herself in and waited for the contest to begin.

((I've never really RP'd a pokemon contest before. How many rounds should there be? 1 appeal and 2 battles? I'm not sure really how it should work haha.))

Jake found a seat in the bleachers and sent out his pokemon and waited for the contest to begin. Eventually, the contest host spoke up.

"Good morning everyone and welcome to the Cerulean City pokemon contest! I'm Vivian and I'll be your host today! Now let's meet our judges...Say hello to Mr. Contenda, Mr. (idk his name haha), and Nurse Joy!" The crowd applauded in excitement as the judges were introduced. "This first round will be an appeal round, so let's get this show on the road!" Vivian called out the first coordinator's name. She walked out and sent her pokemon out. Vivian gave commentary to the appeal, and congradulated the trainer at the end. Then the three judges gave their input. One by one, Vivian called out the trainers. Lola's turn was coming up.

Finally, after a boy performed with his Jigglypuff, Vivian called Lola to the stage, "And now for our next contestant. She came here from Pewter City. Let's give it up for Lola!" Lola ran out into the field wearing an elegant blue dress. "Squirtle, go!" Squirtle entered by spinning out of the pokeball with a trail of bubbles following him.

"Alright Squirtle, waterpulse at the ground!" Squirtle flipped in the air and when his face was facing the floor, he opened his mouth and a water pulse attack pushed him high into the air. "Now spin and combine it with water pulse!" Squirtle began to spin, spraying water in all directions. His appeal looked like a giant beautiful clear water fountain. "Now Squirtle, jump up and use Ice Beam!" Squirtle finished his spinning and flipped into the air, using ice beam on the fountain, freezing it in a beautiful position. "Now, mirror coat!" Squirtle's body began to glow a silver color, then he shot a beautiful rainbow beam at the fountain, crushing it into small, sparkling snowflakes. Lola extend her arm and Squirtle landed perfectly on it, snow flakes falling on them and the crowd. Squirtle and Lola then took a bow and left the stadium. Vivian applauded. "Remarkable!" "Was a little sloppy at times, but great finish." "Well done Lola." Jake and his pokemon cheered for their friend, then hoped she made it to the next round.

Lola gave Robert a congrats on his apeal and watched as the TV screen revealed the top four who would be moving on to the second round. Lola was the 4th person to move on. Lola sighed in relief when she saw that she had made it. She then held a pokeball and told it to prepare for the next round.
