Styx Theta Cluster
Erebus System
Aboard Private Mercenary Vessel

A flash of light and energy burst from the mass relay in the Styx Theta cluster sending particles of matter in all directions. From the blur of light and motion emerged a sole mercenary ship. With no markings and no form of identification other than the mere shape of the vessel and it's contents, the ship was more than an intrusion into Council space. The very existence of this ship was a crime, and it was indeed one of a kind. A stealth runner ship designed for missions directly from the Shadow Broker himself, it was one of the most advanced vessels not controlled by the Citadel. A rogue ship that worked on it's own agenda, the vessel was in system for one reason. Find Dr. Hayes and get as much information from him as possible.

The Shadow Broker wanted to know why on Earth the batarians decided to strike against humanity so soon, and how they had accomplished it all with so little information on their target. He needed to know everything, including why Dr. Hayes' name appeared in most reports on the incident. He assigned one of his top agents, Thalus Millen to the job of finding out just what was going on. It was Millen who headed the vessel that was inbound towards Nepmos, and it was Millen who would be leaving the system with the man responsible for the most infamous Spectre in recent years.

Accompanied by a crew of only a handful of selected warriors and experts, Millen was more than certain his team would be successful. "Run a quick scan of the system, then go as dark as you can while still maintaining speed. I need to know who is in system, who saw us, and where Hayes is as soon as possible."

The Doctor seemed subdued, as though he had resigned himself to his fate. Alia supposed that was all he could do given the situation. She was about to say something pithy when the Captain's voice filtered in through her COM.

"Alia, we need to go now!"
The asari frowned and tapped her COM.
"Understood Captain. It's time to go Hayes."
She turned to Hayes and raised an arm, as if to say "after you". If the Captain said it was time to leave, it was time to leave. The asari holstered her sidearm and unslung her AR. There was no sense in letting her guard down now.

Dr. Hayes began his walk down death row, or what may as well have been death row for him. What awaited him past the door and out in the universe was not a future, but rather a punishment for his past. Each foot step was heavy and shook his body to the core, but he didn't hesitate, he didn't slow. No, he left, knowing that whatever he faced, the best he could do was all he could do and as long as he told the truth then maybe, just maybe he could get out of this whole situation with little to no real punishment. He could only hope. The Mako's cannon blasted, it's report echoing through the land still and only intensifying the walk of shame that Hayes took. The giant tank awaited them outside and as the doctor approached he could feel a weight lifting from his shoulders. At least he no longer had to be curious about the world, now he could relax in a cell and live life without the complexities of FTL travel.

The doctor spotted Whitfield and called over to him, "Take me away, sir!" He walked over to the Spectre with his pistol holstered, his hands holding his entire life's work, his heart holding strong, and his eyes holding back tears.

Whitfield looked at the doctor and grabbed him by the shirt nearly throwing the poor guy head first inside the Mako. Alia followed him shortly after, watching Hayes intently, making sure he didn't touch anything he wasn't supposed to. Roland moved to turn and follow them when his legs were swept from beneath him. He hit the ground and rolled over just as a large pincer pierced the earth, leaving a hole where his heart used to be. With a wide sweeping motion he grabbed his shotgun and pulled the trigger, ripping the rachni apart. Quickly he got up, grabbed his rifle and jumped into the Mako, the hatch closing behind him and sealing them inside the pressurized tank.

"Hold on!"

Roland jumped into his seat and didn't even bother with the safety restraints. Instead he floored the accelerator and turned the Mako due west according to the telemetry scanner. As they raced along he concentrated hard on surviving, watching the ground ahead of them begin to crumble. "Almost there!" he heard Joker say anxiously. Whitfield took a well needed deep breath and tried to relax himself, and when he failed to do so he decided concentrating harder might do them better. On their radar a huge blip appeared and his COM rang out, "Now!" Whitfield pressed the button for their hydraulic boosters and the Mako lifted off the ground, the earth below them disappearing into molten red magma.

The SSV Iroquois swooped in and swallowed the Mako before it could get a chance to descend towards an untimely death. Roland slammed on the breaks and held onto the wheel tightly. The tank slammed into the flooring of the bay, the hatch sealing as they ascended into space. The Captain stopped for a second before standing up, allowing the hatch to open up. Alia and the Doctor quickly got out followed by Whitfield who was busy relaying orders.

"Alright, we're on board."

"That's all fine and dandy, sir, but I'm picking something up on our long-range sensors. A Turian ship, no military record."

Whitfield narrowed his eyes and looked at Hayes for a second, thinking about this new development. It was most unwelcome.

"Joker, get us out of system now and back into Citadel space!"

"Aye-aye, Captain!"

As soon as the Spectre spotted Dr. Hayes he had a plan, or at least, that was what Hayes wanted to believe. The violent tug by Shepard's replacement was unexpected to say the least, however it was not unwelcome because it sent him head first into what was quite possibly the safest place on the entire planet, the belly of the Mako. Before he could collect himself and clear his head from the sudden rush Alia strapped herself in next to Hayes and was already thrusting the straps for his seat into his face as well. What sounded like a struggle echoed from outside followed shortly by the report of a hollow shotgun blast. When the deafening sound died down Whitfield appeared rushing into the tank. Shortly behind him was one of the rachni beasts that were assaulting the group, it however was quickly cut off by when the tank's hatch sealed and pressurized, locking them all into the mighty vehicle. Of course, the Spectre jumped into the pilots seat, only to slam the vehicle into gear and send it careening across the surface of the planet. The Mako shook violently as it cruised across what seemed to be moving ground. Hayes chanced a look through the windshield, one which he wished he hadn't taken. The ground began to crumble, only to be replaced by molten rock. It was then and there that he realized, he would never see the Spirit again. He didn't cry or yell, he didn't struggle or wince in remorse. He took it like a man for once, his fate was sealed and there was no need to complain, only hope that he got off of this planet with his skin intact.

The Mako seemed to glide across the weakening ground and towards some sort of objective that he couldn't see. "I hope this thing flies!" he yelled over the roar of the engine to his company. It wasn't until he heard a voice ring out over the radio that he realized that someone was waiting for them. It must've been on the other side of the hill ahead of him. He relaxed and sat back in the seat, a sigh of relief escaping his mouth. When the voice yelled "now" however Hayes was startled, what was going on? Before he could think he was forced heavily into his seat as the tank they were in was ironically, flying. He forced himself to look out the window to see that over the hill wasn't any form of rescue, no it was more magma. He tried to scream but he was out of breath, and all he could manage was a muffled yelp. When the tank suddenly was engulfed by a shadow and the brakes slammed in he took a breath in, then immediately coughed it out. What had just happened?

Hayes was practically panicking in the seat next to Alia, he was certainly new to this, as both Whitfield and the asari seemed unfazed by the entire fiasco. When the Captain called into the COM that they were on board Hayes came to the conclusion that they had performed what was the single most daring maneuver in history, and these military hard noses weren't even shaken a bit by it. "Remind me to never ride with you lot again." he quirked while struggling out of his harness. Alia and Whitefield had already made it out of the Mako by the time that he was done with his harness. A few moments later and he stepped out of the tank and into what seemed to e a small hangar bay. "So this is the mighty Iroquois, the most advanced ship in Citadel space?"

Milky Way Galaxy
SSV Iroquois
Enroute to the Citadel

Alia climbed out of the M35 Mako IFV and pulled off her helmet. She closed her eyes and breathed in the recycled air of the Iroquois. There was something special about being on a ship that just made everything feel right. The asari commando walked to her assigned locker and off-loaded her weapons. She wouldn't need them aboard the ship, and she doubted that Whitfield would let her wear them. She quickly stripped and placed her armor in the locker, before dressing in fatigues. Afterwards she rubbed her temples and closed the locker. The lock clicked into place automatically. The faint pulse of the Iroquois's Tantalus Drive Core could be felt through the deck plating. She kept an eye on Hayes, despite what he had said, she still didn't trust him. For the moment, she didn't have anything to do. Her role was a dedicated combat specialist. She was no good in space. Despite this, she was happy to be off of Nepmos. Planets undergoing heavy tectonic activity amid a rachni outbreak weren't exactly high on her list of top-ten vacation spots. The doctor was clearly shaken by the extraction from Nepmos. It was probably the most action he'd ever seen, but for Alia, it was just another day in the office. Well, jumping off of an exploding planet wasn't exactly the standard work day, but it sure beat sitting behind a desk all day.

Hayes' remark about the Iroquois being the most advanced ship in Citadel space caught Alia's attention. It was certainly an interesting ship, but she only spent her time in the crew quarters or in the mess. She didn't care if it was a finely-tuned warship or a broken-down quarian tug. As long as it got her from point A to point B, the type of ship didn't matter very much. What surprised her was that she had never even considered it. Technically the ship was superior to her sister ship, the infamous Normandy, which was supposedly being retired by the Systems Alliance. It was interesting to see the humans deal with such notoriety when attached to a ship that was highly classified. In fact, they had gone out of their way to suppress any information regarding the personnel who served aboard her and Shepard's alien associates. She guessed that the Alliance feared they could become targets. Although, suppressing information on the extranet was incredibly difficult, if not downright impossible. She turned and marched to the elevator. Whitfield would want her in the conference room for the mission debriefing.

On the command deck, Joker paid close attention to the faster-than-light communications channels in addition to piloting the Normandy's sister ship half-way across the galaxy. His job was much more difficult than it looked, and he didn't give a damn what anyone thought. Just because he sat in a chair all the time didn't mean that he wasn't important. Of course, everyone on this ship understood that the pilot's job was the most important. Without him, they would be dead in the water. After all, he was the best damn pilot in the Alliance Navy. That said, he did get bored. Thanks to his moderate to severe case of Vrolik's syndrome, it wasn't as if he could just walk around. The Flight Lieutenant stared at the holographic displays spread out in front of him and tried to pinpoint exactly what his problem was. It wasn't being reassigned to the Iroquois that had been bothering him. That he could deal with. It was something else. The mission had been successful, Hayes had been extracted from the planet's surface and the Captain was aboard. He should be his usual happy-cocky self. Instead, he felt that his humor was forced. Shepard would have told him something ridiculous but true to get his mind off the problems at hand. That was it. Shepard was still dead. The two men had been friends, and Joker had saved Shepard's life half-a-dozen times, but there had been NOTHING that Joker could do to save the Commander. He was dead. Joker realised that he hadn't had time to mourn. The Alliance had reassigned him to the Iroquois a week after Shepard's death. His attention was drawn by a burst of COM traffic from the citadel. Its encryption was some of the most advanced he'd ever seen. If he didn't know better he'd say it was accidental gibberish leaked into the FTL COMs. Of course, he DID know better. That encryption scheme was a far more complicated version of an Alliance method. In addition it appeared to be biometrically locked, although he couldn't access the recipient's name. Apparently this was highly classified information being sent to a highly important person. If he didn't know better, he'd say it was being sent to a Spectre. The only reason he had picked it up at all was because he had been monitoring the COM channels in a slightly... illegal way. Normally ships were only supposed to pick up communications sent to them. That got really boring really quickly, so he had opted to manually scan every interesting bit of information going out to determine their recipient. Sometimes it paid to be a sneaky b*****d. Information coming from the Citadel was also valuable because it could involve Whitfield, a council Spectre AND humanity's replacement for Shepard. He was a high-value target for whomever was after humanity. Another interesting note was that Joker recognized this particular address. He had seen it used once before in a private communique from Captain Anderson. That meant that Captain Anderson had sent the message. If humanity's representative on the Council was sending secret messages instead of the Council sending them as a whole, this meant it was REALLY important, or at the very least, important enough to keep away from prying eyes. This sort of secrecy was used when the only people who were supposed to see these messages were the ones who sent it and the ones who received it. In other words, something you wanted to keep away from the Shadowbroker.

Joker only recognized the noise as an encrypted message because it had been used before when transmitting to the Normandy. In other words, the recipient was a ship. There was really no way to send a message through the extranet without it being noticed by someone. The current Com buoys that built up the extranet could be accessed by anyone. Of course, this was being sent to something in the Hawking Eta cluster. The specific site was known only to people who had been there. The Mu relay. This meant that whomever was receiving Captain Anderson's message was going to Ilos. This definitely bore some investigation. He logged the date and time it was located and sealed that data biometrically. Only he or Captain Whitfield could access it. He also sent a message to the Captain's personal COM and to his quarters. The priority was the mission at hand. Once Whitfield had finished his mission report, Joker would send it to the Citadel. Just another part of the job. Maybe something interesting would happen for a change, picking people off of exploding planets was starting to become common-place.

Nikolai stepped off of the ship -he was so new to it he couldn't even remember it's name- and headed immediately for the elevator, letting the newer Marines gawk in amazement at the massive dock as he and the more experienced men headed for Flux. They crowded into the elevator and were immediately assaulted with the latest news over the loudspeaker inside. Several of the men groaned, but the largest of them merely shook his head. It was another report about Commander Sheperd, and how much of a terrible loss his death was to the council.

"You know, they never mention all the poor bastards who died fighting alongside that guy." A veteran Corporal stated to the group, who murmured their agreement. Even Nikolai nodded his agreement.

"We all know that Sheperd was a good man, and we'll honor him in our memories with a drink later." The large man said in his bass-dominant voice, "But for now, we have four days shore leave, lets make the most of it." A few cheers went up at that, and as soon as the elevator's doors opened, the men were like a tidal-wave that couldn't be stopped, and C-Sec was all too happy to get out of the way.

After all, what sentient being in their right mind would stand between a Marine and his well-deserved drinks?

Myles stepped out of the shower, quickly wrapping up with a towel he glanced at the mirror noticing that he was steaming from the intense heat of the shower. He didn't bother to shave so he just walked into the bedroom that he would temporarily call home due to his shore leave. The Alliance granted him a small apartment near the Human Embassy.

Within minutes Myles was dressed in casual clothes "You still got it.." he smirked and turned to his pistol that he would be putting on his hip in a few seconds "And lets hope you still got it too." Finally leaving the apartment he headed for the nearest transport. He was heading to Flux to meet an old Turian friend, although it was odd for Humans and Turians to get along this was a common thing for Myles.

Myles walked through the entrance of Flux "Good ol' Flu.." he was quickly cut off by the bouncer at the door "Hey! Myles!" Myles snapped his head to the right and looked at the mans face for a few short seconds "Oh, hello Freddy. I hate to be rude but I am meeting someone" the bouncer paused then replied "Okay, well maybe later then..." the man winked "Sure thing!" Myles quickly replied trying to escape the conversation.

Myles sat at the bar but didn't order anything quite yet, looking around Myles noticed the group Alliance soldiers drinking at the table a few meters from him "Cheers boys! Have a good one, for me!" Myles liked to boost the moral of his fellow soldiers. Myles moved to a table higher up still waiting for his C-Sec friend.

"You are not going to like this sir," one of the ship's small crew spoke almost tentatively back to Thalus, like he was trying to mask his voice and hide the facts. Thalus quickly marched up through the small corridor leading from his command spot to the ops man at helm of the ship. He quickly leaned over the turian's shoulder staring intently at the screen, "What is it?!" he barked before taking a full grasp of the radar's scan. There was only one ship in system, and it was about to be completely destroyed by the volatile surface of Nepmos. The ship wasn't moving which meant it was either abandoned or the crew had been somehow cut off from the ship. "Take us down there, NOW." he commanded his three man crew, they needed to get to the surface as quickly as possible, for if that ship that melted into the surface of Nepmos meant anything, his target may already be dead.

Thalus stood and left the ops table for the pilot's chair where the only person on his crew that he really trusted sat, the asari matriarch Rohalia Thalus' second in command and his only permanent partner. The matriarch near demanded respect, she was absolutely brilliant with a gun, her biotics were damned near unparalleled and she could pilot practically every vehicle in the galaxy, the fact that she answered to Thalus spoke volumes to his reputation both with the Shadow Broker and when working solo. "You know he isn't going to be there right?" she mused, her millenia of experience and wisdom had enough power behind it to make Thalus listen. In response he simply nodded and let out a sigh, clicking his mandibles in disappointment, "More than likely, yes, he will already be gone. But there is still a chance he is there, and if we were to be wrong we could fail entirely. We must go down there."

"If you say so," she spoke smoothly, but a smile fell on her countenance, almost a smirk and Thalus knew that inside she was laughing. He turned and headed towards his personal quarters, and prepared for the drop. He wore his most heat resistant armor, equipped his rifle with as many coolants as he could fit on it and slapped his pistol into it's holster, unaltered. When he returned from his preparations the ship was staring straight into Nepmos, the nose of the ship angled directly at the surface. Of course they wouldn't even try to fly like this once in the gravity well of the planet, but as long for as long as he could, he wanted to keep his ship a small target from the surface. "Is the Spirit still intact?" Thalus queried his subordinate on the radar scanner. "Yes, it is still intact, however within just a few minutes it will be swallowed by the surface lava."

"Fire a round a click north of the ship, hopefully they'll get the picture and leave the planet, the last thing I want is to go down there and have him take off whilst I am stuck on that planet waiting for pick up." Thalus commanded his men, and what seemed like only a few short seconds later the ship pivoted the slightest degree and blasted a round down towards the planet's surface. It streaked through the atmosphere and pounded into the planet's surface at speeds that were practically FTL. The 3 foot round left an impact crater the size of a small building, sending cracks through the thin surface, which was quickly filled with lava. Suddenly the brittle tectonics of the planet gave way to the mighty blow of ship's main weapon and collapsed inward. Lava spewed across the surface of the planet, swallowing the ship whole. "I certainly hope they weren't on that ship." the matriarch mused from the front seat, Thalus winced at the thought. The failure would be his and his alone, he hoped that they weren't. Suddenly the turian manning the radar spoke up once again, "Oh no. Oh no." he couldn't get a full sentence out, "Thalus, we've got a ship jumping to FTL back at the relay!" Thalus quickly ran over to the radar and watched as the ship disappeared into the blackness of space, streaking white hot through the void. Thalus pounded his fist on the console before barking up the front of the ship, "Rohalia, get us out of here now and after those bastards!"

The entire thing was a ruse, had the doctor known they were coming? Was there someway he knew that Thalus was coming for him and he left a decoy ship to grab his attention while he slipped past? No, it had to be the Council's workings. That was the only way to explain the ship's stealth, and timing. Thalus had been beaten.

Myles noticed his friend walking in "Over here, Vectier!" the Turian C-Sec officer quickly spotted Myles and walked over to the table "Well hello Myles, or is it Serviceman First Class Gibbson?" The Turian chuckled then sat down. "How have you been?" Myles asked noticing that the Turian looked agitated by something "Not so well friend, you have dragged us in deep with Cerberus and they want blood.." Myles laughed "You think Im scared? Go buy us drinks then we will walk." The Turian walked off to the bar.

He returned with two drinks with both lime green colored "What is it?" Myles was amazed by the color "Something to keep you energized, through our talk." Myles studied the glass then took a sip of the drink "Whoa, its really good!" the Turian giggled then quickly got back to all seriousness "Look, these guys don't play around and we are starting to irritate them.." Myles smiled then let out a gasp "Good, I want my brother, he is all I got left!" Vectier back off, there was a few moments of silence then Myles spoke "What about the man working for Binary Helix?" Vectier looked over "It was a false lead, it was meant to set us off track.." the man was getting mad "Well it has been great seeing you, I will meet you in your office tomorrow, is that fine?" Vectier nodded "Ofcourse, goodbye.." Myles watched the Turian leave then finished his drink.

Myles searched the room for those soldiers he saw earlier "Found you..." he mumbled to himself and then walked up to the table "Can I buy y'all a round?" He sat down with a smile.

Kirus Ezran

Milky Way Galaxy
Widow Cluster
Citadel
Lower Wards

Another day, another crime. That was life on the Citadel. The vids made it look like the Utopian paradise of the galaxy, but on its underbelly, it was just as vicious and grimy as the rest of the universe. Kirus had only spent three years here, joining C-Sec right out of Turian military service at age 20. He stood amidst a gruesome scene on the lower Wards, a human murder victim lying in a pool of blood on an office floor.

"The secretary - sorry, office assistant - discovered the victim at about 0643 this morning, according to entry logs and her eyewitness account," said the human Enforcement officer who responded to the call, reading off the data pad on which he'd written the report. "Found him just like this. Did not move or touch anything, called Citadel Security immediately, which was corroborated by Control, the call came in at 0644. Deceased was identified by Control on facial ident-match as William Chambers, one of seven researchers in this office, worked on weapons mods with a Salarian by the name of Shan."

"Alright, I'll take it from here. You boys pack up. Track down this Shan guy for me, make sure he doesn't skip station," Kirus told the officer, his deep 'first' voice resonating almost as much as his 'second' one. The officer nodded, then turned to the other Enforcement officers who were keeping the perimeter. He waved his finger in the air in a 'wrap it up, boys' gesture, and most of the Enforcement officers walked out to return to their business, and let the 'squints' of the Investigation division deal with it. Two officers stayed at the entrance to the offices, just in case any unauthorized persons tried to enter.

Kirus knelt beside the dead human, looking down into his face.
"Another day..." he muttered to himself, and began to scour the area for clues to the human's death.

------------------------

C-Sec Academy, 72 hours later

Kirus sat in his office, twiddling the stylus of his data pad, occassionally poking the screen listlessly, hoping to open up a file that would spark something in his keen mind. The case was going nowhere fast. All he needed was a warrant to search the Salarian's apartment. He was certain that Shan was hiding something, he felt it in his gut. But so many weird things had popped up since the beginning of this investigation that he wasn't sure what to think. Suddenly, he had leads tying the death of some human weapons mod researcher in to unsolved cases that C-Sec was told to stay out of because it fell under the jurisdiction of some Spectre's investigation into the recent Batarian troubles! I mean, how complicated could one murder investigation get?

This went way deeper than he first suspected. He knew Shan was the murderer, but without that warrant, he'd never find a murder weapon that the Salarian probably had stashed in his home. Therefore, he had no case. He needed motive, opportunity...something, if he couldn't find that weapon. They were in business together, so there must have been some reason the Salarian wanted Chambers out of the way. Money was always the reason.

He needed a drink. He dropped the data pad, locked it, and left his office behind, heading up through the Wards' alleys towards Flux. It was strangely relaxing to walk through the Wards during the 'night' cycle, even if they were some of the more dangerous locales the Citadel had to offer.

Kirus nodded to the human bouncer as he walked into Flux, which elicited a nod in return. He was allowed to carry his pistol here, even if he was off-duty. The details of the case still careened through his mind at FTL speeds, giving him no chance to settle on one particular detail at a time. Clues and reports and forensic analyses spun through his head as he tried to piece together the puzzle of one man's death.

A single wound to the head, consistent with a mass accelerator weapon, probably a pistol. Judging by the size of the slug and the wound, it was fired at close range - at shorter ranges, a pistol fired a larger projectile at slower speeds, not needing to fire a smaller projectile at higher speed to reach a distant target. The lab had come back with the reports the morning after the crime, and he'd been going over the details since then.

He greeted Doran, who sat behind the bar. Volus were always kind to him; it had something to do with their dependence on turians for protection, but coupled with their diminutive size, it made them seem like small children to Kirus, like a little brother. Doran handed him a glass of his usual, a neon red liquid colourfully named 'Red Ratchet'. Kirus waved his cred-chip across the counter, allowing the scanner in the bar top to register his tab for the night.

The turian detective sat at an empty table, and sipped quietly at his bright red drink, watching a group of Alliance marines on shore leave as they made a toast to the late Commander Shephard. He recognized them as the marines who'd nearly bowled him over earlier as he walked to his office from the forensic labs. He watched them thoughtfully. Humans were one of the strangest aliens he'd come across in his life. They were so...erratic. You could count on an asari to be unfathomable, a volus to be savvy or a salarian to be frantic. Some humans seemed like a completely different species from others. He figured it must have been the key to their success; diversity.

These and other thoughts wrestled for his attention as he lost himself in his thoughts, nearly oblivious to the goings-on around him. Rita brought him his second round, and he smiled (as much as a turian could) and thanked her sincerely. He liked her better than her more popular sister, Jenna, and always made a point to tip her handsomely. He was glad they'd survived the geth attack. It somehow brought back a sense of normalcy to his life, being able to go back to Flux and see Doran and Rita there, just like always. He slouched in his chair slightly, leaning on the table and tapping the side of the glass with his fingers, lost in thought.

Myles had made down the first set of stairs before noticing the necklace Vectier always wore lying on the ground, so Myles quickly picked it up and headed for the C-Sec Academy. The man walked through the crowds of people, not even sparing the time to glance at any of them, he just kept to his own and headed for C-Sec.

Myles had finally reached his office and opened the doors, as they slid open he noticed the Turians body lying on the floor, dead. Myles let out a huge gasp and then checked the body, Vectier had been shot with weapons that had been equipped with some new black market mod, they had shred right through his kinetic barriers and burnt the Turians insides. The man quickly put the necklace of Vectier before yelling for help "Goodbye my friend..." he sighed and then then let out a loud yell "Help! I need a medic! Help!" but Myles already new his friend had passed on.

Kirus returned the nod that the human tossed his way, raising his drink slightly towards him as he did so. He finished his drink slowly, but just before he poured the last of it down his throat, his COM unit crackled to life in his ear.
"Alert! Code Red at C-Sec Academy! Man down, all units respond!"

"Dammit..." Kirus muttered under his breath, putting his finger to his ear to activate his COM.
"En route, Control," he said reluctantly, picking up the glass and emptying it hurriedly. He wiped his chin and waved a quick 'goodbye' to Doran, at the bar, who nodded and waved in return, having a good idea of the reason for Kirus' quick exit.

The turian quickly returned to the C-Sec Academy, running all the way through the Wards, flashing his identification to anyone who got in his way.
"C-Sec! Move!" he shouted, pushing his way through a gaggle of humans. Arriving soon after, he reported to Executor Pallin, who had taken the elevator down from the Presidium to personally handle the situation.
"Ezran," he said, "this is your case. Get to work."

"My case? What are you talking about?" the turian detective asked, confused as to why the Executor had chosen him to head up the investigation of a dead C-Sec agent.
"I've already got my own case."

"This is part of it," the Executor replied, pointing towards Vectier's office.
"Forensics tells me that the mods on the weapon used to kill Agent Vectier are consistent with the mods that your murder victim was working on when he died."

"I understand, sir. I'll take care of it," Kirus responded, turning and walking towards the office.

The C-Sec officers removed Myles from the room and sat him down "A Officer will be with you soon Serviceman Gibbson" Myles gave the Salarian a nod and sat down, he was shocked to not be blamed by all the officers, they must trust him or maybe Vectier kept documents about Myles. Either way he was glad not to be going through all the drama, the shock of his friends death was enough, although death was a common thing for Myles.

Myles watched as different C-Sec Officers checked the body and the office for any evidence, it was getting late but Myles knew he wouldn't be having any sleep tonight. Then suddenly he realized "Cerberus..." he mumbled piecing together the pieces of the puzzle, Myles and Vectier got too close, and this was a warning to stop their investigation.

Myles stretched his legs and then sat back down, he continued to wait for questioning or what ever else he would be needed for. Myles sat there in a deep train of thought, trying to think of what to do after all these events.
