Professor Inky Ethin sighed inwardly. "I will only bring her back if you will not shield her," Ethin said slowly. It was not like him to make demands or conditions, but he could not let Kiae render Esole defenseless. Not again. Not while he could help it. Kiae stared at him for a long moment, tempted to break the Bond out of sheer anger. "He tells me my Bond will come first, then he dares make demands like this?" she thought, taking a deep breath to steady herself. Closing her eyes to try to regain some of her inner tranquility, she fixed Ethin with a stare only reserved for people about to die a horrible death. "You will bring Esole here," she informed him slowly. "I will Shield her if she does not stop such behavior. As she is know, she is a danger not only to us, but to herself and the city as well. Do you have any idea how easily a Darkfriend will sense all those wards she put on herself, not to mention her angreal?" she demanded, the only sign of her anger in her clenched fists. "She is acting like a renegade Sister and I cannot allow that, under Tower law. Not in these dangerous circumstances. If she behaves herself there is no reason for me to Shield her. She will determine what will happen, not I. If you are going to make demands of anyone, make them of your precious, bratty Green. Get out," she ordered stiffly, opening the door with a weave of Air. She was seething; if Ethin remained in front of her much longer she was afraid she would say or do something she might regret. "He's made his choice in loyalty, now let him run after the little twit," she told herself, standing by the door. "And Light blast Melthin once I get my hands on him. He is a dead man," she added grimly.

Kiae threatened to shield her and had already bound her when she would not tell her what she wanted to hear. How did she expect Esole to react to that? She was just as foolish as Esole. She really wasn't the woman he had thought she was. She acted just as childish as Esole, jsut in a different manner. She threw a fit, not as loud as Esole's, when she didn't get what she wanted just as Esole does. " Perhaps it is time I leave my affiliations with Aes Sedai and go back to work at the Tower," he thought glumly as he mounted his horse and set out in Esole's direction. She had surprisingly made it a good distance from the inn in such a short time. But he cleared it in a matter of minutes on horseback. He soon came upon her, leaning against a building in an alley. He sighed at the sight of her. It seems she had thrown up. Whether from the run or the alcohol or a combination of the two, it was still disappointing. "Esole, I'm going to have to ask you to come back to the inn with me. Kiae needs to know what it is you have to tell me as much as I do, Esole," Ethin said softly, avoiding eye contact. He had meant it before when he told Kiae if he had to choose, he would pick her over Esole but that did not mean he still did not care for Esole because he did. Very much so. Esole looked up at him and shook her head slowly. "You must hear it first, Ethin. Melthin said if you came after him, he would kill you. That's why I can't be near you! He will know where you are staying!" Esole shouted, on the verge of tears. Ethin meant so much to her. She could not let him die. "Esole, you must come with me. Kiae will come here and all sorts of disastrous things would ensue. Please, just come back," Ethin pleaded. Esole nodded sadly and got on the horse behind Ethin. He led them back to the inn, using his Bond with Kiae as a guide. He left the horse to the men who worked in the stable and led Esole up the stairs. She was silent the entire time. Once they reached the room, the two stood silently at the door, awaiting whatever was to come from Kiae. Esole gripped the angreal tightly but did not reach for more of the Power.

Kiae had braided her hair again in the time it took to bring Esole back, and it was wound around the base of her neck once more; her things were already packed in her bags as well. "I suppose I should say this first. I will break the Bond to Ethin if it would simplify things," Kiae said grimly, arms crossed as if to support herself. She was near the window and looking onto the street, not even turning to speak to them. "I can already guess what is troubling Esole, but I had hoped there was trust enough between us that she could tell me. I suppose not," she continued, her tone dry. "I will tell you this, Esole, then leave. If you behave in such a manner again, as Tower law dictates, I will be forced to Shield you until you can learn some self-control. And I intend to dispose of Melthin by my own means. Interference will not be taken lightly. His corruption cannot be allowed to spread further." She remained silent for a moment, gathering her thoughts. "If any Darkfriends were around, they surely know an Aes Sedai is staying here now, thanks to Esole's theatrics. I will find another place to stay for the time being. Where you two go is no further concern of mine," she told them, before striding past them and heading downstairs to look for someone to pay for their trouble for the rooms.

Ethin hesitated a moment before following after her. "Why are you leaving without me? What has gotten into you, Kiae?" Ethin asked her. He didn't feel he had done anything wrong. He made one simple request, probably the first he had ever made of her and she treated him like he had asked her to kill the Creator. He truly did not understand. Ethin seriously began to wonder about whether being a Warder to inconsiderate women was worth it anymore.

"Esole is in no condition to be left alone. Light forbid return to Melthin," she added, muttering the last words. "I thought it best for you to stay with her for the time being. And as I am the wrong one again, I believe finding another place to stay would be best, lest Esole lose her control again," she continued with a self-depreciating smile. Handing her money to a serving woman, she turned back to Ethin and bowed slightly. "I apologize for my behavior. My temper got the best of me once again. Esole doesn't even trust me enough to tell me that our shared Warder is in danger and acts as if I am the enemy. I suppose that got under my skin," she told him, patting his arm gently.

Esole remained in the room, tears welling in her eyes once more. It seemed like she was losing Ethin more and more with each passing moment. He was the first person to believe in her and now he was practically gone. "Fine, if they don't need me, then I will not bother with this any longer," she grumbled to herself. Esole decided she was going to go home. Go home back to Saldaea. It'd been years since she'd seen her family.
She left the inn, not sparing a glance for anyone or anything around her. She went to the stable and asked one of the handlers if she could purchase a horse. He seemed hesitant but Esole sternly told him that she needed it now so he gave in. Once he gave her the reins, she dismissed him from the stables. Once he had left, she sat on a nearby hay bale and waited. For what she waited, she did not know. She just knew she needed to wait.

And she was always the one in the wrong, somehow! Giving up her claim on Ethin to help Esole was somehow wrong? "I should have become a Brown and stay in the bloody Tower," she thought dimly. Striding out to the stables, trying to keep her dignity about her, she fetched her own mount and was walking him out of the stables before she noticed Esole nearby. Eying the woman with barely-concealed contempt and almost no pity, she paused. "You Warder is inside. I release any claim on him unless I'm in danger," she told the woman coldly. "That should satisfy her. Now she doesn't have to have anything to do with me," she thought, not expecting this to be enough for anyone either.

"I am tired of everyone around here feeling sorry for themselves. Is that why you both think I'm heartless and cruel? Because I leave no room for crying and whining when there's work to be done?" she demanded, having put aside her own mourning for her lost Warders and buried it deep inside her. She stared at Esole. "I will not bind you, Shield you, nothing. I give up. Use yourself as bait for the New Order, I have better things to do than save you from yourself. But tell me where you are going," she snapped. "So I can make sure I'm going in the opposite direction," she added privately to herself.

They are well known. And they can be found at the Silent Swordsman, my family's inn," she said at the last second. She turned away and walked to the front of the inn and tied her horse out front.

You want someone to talk you out of it," she accused the woman, her tone surprisingly gentle. "All Aes Sedai reach this point. Light knows I have. How you resolve this will determine what kind of human being you're going to become," she informed Esole. "I will remain in Cairhien, should you need me. Stay with Ethin, regardless. If you're going home, you'll be in much greater danger than I. And if I keep him here and you die...I don't wish for someone else to hate me as much as he will," she told the other Sister quietly. "You still have him, don't be stupid and throw him away."

She paused, swallowing down her lecture before continuing. "Go inside, at least. I will wait here. If you choose to leave, I can at least see you to the border. If not, I can say my own goodbyes," she suggested. She would not let the Green give up - things were too dangerous to just go home and hope the New Order no longer considered her a threat.

She couldn't even leave her own Warder for his safety.
