"It's alright." Her voice sounded rather dull. The packing, the unpacking, the over-enthusiastic people everywhere you went... it did get boring.
But the food, that never did, and it seemed Colin was a connoisseur of sorts.
She playfully stabbed at her salad, ate a bit with lots of dressing and pepper, and with a look of utter contentment swallowed.
"Leaves from the ground. Dressing from a bottle. Little tomato thing right there from some vine in some place. Tastes real good, I say." Again, a smile appeared, though it wasn't condescending like it usually was. Even Rosie couldn't tell if she had just made fun of him or was making fun of herself for not knowing the subtleties of good food.

Colin rolled his eyes at her, playfully darting a finger forward to dip it in the dressing of her salad before popping it into his mouth.
" Hmm..not bad." He winked at her, taking another bite. After swallowing, he spoke again.
" I was usually the one helping the most at mealtimes, so I spent alot of time cooking and learning to cook in my younger years." He shrugged with a modest smile.
" I'm not too good I think, but such skills are useful when warding off overly hungry friends who feel the inclination to raid your cookie stash." He laughed at the look on her face, and the sound was warm and welcoming, and suprisingly gentle.

"Hey!" she laughed. Rosie returned the favor by dashing her fork through a noodle of his. As she slurped it up, she listened to the little snippet of his life. "A guy who can cook... nice. That's another thing I can't do." Everything she owned was hers and hers alone, and she couldn't imagine what it must have been like to have to share everything with everyone around you. Feeling a bit nice, Rosie shoved her plate towards him.
"It's a lot of food for me. You can have some, if you want. But that tomato, right there," she said, pointing to it with her fork, "Is so mine." Rosie pointed the prongs at Colin, staring down the fork with a look of mock-seriousness.

Colin raised his hands playfully in a token gesture of mock surrender.
" Of course, my fair goddess of all that is leafy and green. I shall never eat thine sacred tomato." There was a wonderful laugh somewhere in his voice as he lowered his hands and easily plucked a leaf from the plate and popped it into his mouth with an easy smile.
" I can't let either of those girls near a stove. Danni won't bother to cook, and Ella somehow managed to burn water.." He rolled his eyes and shook his head sadly, before looking back up at her.

Rosie smirked at his goddess comment. He certainly was cute, and had successfully brought blush to the tips of her ears. She wondered if he had even tried doing it, or if he had even tried to make her laugh once more.
"I nearly burned down the dorm with a microwave and a cup of ramen!" There was a proud sense of triumph in her voice as her eyes lit up (much like the styrofoam cup once had).

Colin let out a warm laugh, clapping lightly at her statement.
" I congradulate you, then. The worst it's been for me is bread." He said, chuckling as he remembered the what had once been bread and had turned out a clump of black ash by the time he pulled it out of the oven.
He was really enjoying himself; sitting her, laughing with a pretty girl he had just met, having pleasent conversation, and eating good food. An ideal way to spend an afternoon. He just smiled at his new friend while she covered the details of her spectacular ramen burn.

Rosie was enjoying herself, as well. She covered all the details about her amazing smoke-filled dorm, and how her room mate would never let her touch the microwave ever again.
"So, yeah. Now I know styrofoam is really flammable. You, though, you look like you know what you're doing..." And so came the perfect opportunity to ask a little question indirectly. "Bet your girlfriend loves you."
The check came sooner than she had thought, it seemed. As Rosie waited for some kind of answer, she fished out her wallet from her bag. As far as she was concerned, the guy had to have a girlfriend. It wasn't logical for him to still be single.

Almost immediately, a pained look overcame his face, something that didn't suit his features in the least. He waved her wallet away with a weak smile, paying for it himself and leaving a tip behind. Colin gathered up their bags and made his way with Rosie to the outside of the tavern.
" No, I don't actually." He looked down at her.
" I've had two, but for unknown reasons, the both of them seemed to prefer other men...while still considering themselves my 'girlfriend.'" He tried to put it as nicely as possible, while erasing the upset look that had consumed his features for a few minutes. Within a moment, he was back to his regular smile.
" So, where to next, goddess?" He asked, playfully raising a brow at her.

"Hang on a sec!" she said, with unintentional exasperation. "What the hell, you're telling me some bimbo went and... aw, come on." Rosie looked so distraught as she saw what her question had done. Just thinking of someone hurting him made her temper flare right up, which always resulted in some passionate response. "From what I can tell, you're Prince Charming in a grey hat. You even just paid for my salad. That's so not right..." With a final sigh, she propped her chin up on her elbow and stared right at him. Who on earth would give up Colin for someone else?

" Correction. Two bimbos." Colin shook himself, and at the mention of his hat, grinned. Quickly, he tugged down the hood of her jacket, pulled off his hat, and fit it easily over her head. It looked rather nice with her blonde hair, and the look on her face made him smile delightedly.
" Well, don't you look fetching?" He said, winking at her as she continued to examine him. For a few minutes they just stared at each other, each trying to piece everything together that they could.

Rosie's cheeks turned red that time. Good thing her ears were well hidden by the hat, or she would have looked like the tomato she so viciously defended. But she didn't look away, though, as they looked at each other. Finally, she just got too shy and pulled the grey hat over her eyes a bit.
"If you say so."

Colin smiled, patting her atop the head in a kindly way. Her blush only served to make him color in kind, which looked marvelous with his hair.
" See, that wasn't so bad, was it? Your first time sharing stories with a friend?" He asked as they walked aimlessly down the road, wondering if the use of 'friend' was asking for too much too soon.

"Naw," she said, laughing. Rosie pulled off his hat, not wanting to seem like she laid claims to it. Every few steps she jumped comically towards his head in an attempt to place it back on his head, but he was far too tall.
"I want to know what you ate while you were growing, and what went wrong with me." Rosie was already learning to smile and laugh like no one would think her silly. Honestly, why was she so short? "I'm such a pixie. What's the world like from up there?"

A very mischevious grin coveted his lips.
" Why don't I show you?" And before she could do anything, Colin swung her up so she sat on his shoulders and then let out a laugh at her nonplussed expression that he was beginning to love.
" How's the weather up there, Rosie?" He asked with a marvelous smile.

Of course Rosie let out a few curses and a little scream as she was lifted right from the ground and lifted onto his shoulders. Once she was situated, though... it was pretty nice.
She place his hat securely over his own head with a final pat on his head.
"That was kinda scary, but... things look so different." Her own little devilish grin overcame her lips as she bent down towards his ear. "Think I can chop off your legs at the knee to show you my perspective?"
