Ashe pulled her daggers out from a drawer and hid them on her person. She also pulled out her tattered coat and put it on. One look at a mirror had her smiling, Perfect. She walked outside and took the path to the docks, three dogs following her. She got to the docks and looked around, sure enough, there was the massive ship. She smiled and spotted the nearby pup. "The Rotten Apple? I've heard better names." She shrugged and pushed the door open. It was fairly empty, so she slipped in, with the dogs in tow, found a small table in the corner, and sat down. She hoped that she could hear news about the boat.

A bar maid walked over to Ashe with a great big, friendly smile on her face. "'Ey there, dear!" she said enthusiastically. "What can I get for ya?" She shifted her weight from side to side while waiting for the answer.
Across the room, the men ate and drank as they sat around the table and chatted quietly. A couple of women entered the tavern not so long after the waitress asked Ashe what she want. The women chatted loudly with each other as they sat at a table in the middle of the room. The conversation suddenly got quiet, as a sign of a possible subject change.

Ashe looked up at the waitress and smiled, "A pint of your ale, please." She sifted in her seat and added, "And a bowl of water for the dogs, if you can." Her eyes then roamed over to the women who just walked in and waited to hear what was said next.

The waitress smiled then walked away to fulfill her order.
"Garvin, the poor man," the woman wearing a blue rough cloth said quietly to her companion. "He'd just joined the guard too. To be murdered like that!" She hit the table lightly with the palm of her hand as she said 'that.'
Her companion nodded slowly, "MacMarvin's boy? Such tragedy. I heard someone used magic in order to propel the blade that struck him. Damn mages," she spit crudely in disgust. "Such a no-good bunch. Worse than thieves, I say!"
"Agreed," the other said softly.
"Here you are, ma'am," the waitress returned with a mug of ale and a bowl of water. She sat the mug on the table then the bowl of water on the floor. "If you need anything else, let me know," she said before quickly turning and walking over to the table of women.

Riley watched the ship with trained eyes, taking in every detail, from the size of the mast and how the crew moved about in the rigging, to even the position of the screws holding up the painted pieces of wood spelling the ship's name. He took a final sip of rum, placing it on the bar behind him. It looked to be an impossible task...something that only someone insane would dare to do. And Riley fit the bill to a T. " 'nother one, please." he said quietly, waving his hand towards the glass and flipping a coin into it with the other to pay for the new drink. "Scratch that." he added. "But keep the coin." He turned to Jessica. "If we are going to rip off that ship, we need a better look. This bar isn't that good." he said quietly. "There may be one on the other side, or higher up that can provide a better view. We can move out when you are done."

Ashe listened to the women talk, a small smile playing on her lips. A mage huh? Sounds like a tall tale, but who knows. She took a sip of her ale, smiled wider, and took a gulp of it. She set the mug back on the table and cocked her head back to the women.

Jessica finished her drink. "Ready when you are." she told him. "Oh, and do you have a plan for this?" she added quietly.

"None at all." Riley said truthfully, getting up slowly. He walked out the door, holding it open for Jessica, then started walking down towards the docks. He made it five feet onto the wooden boards of the docks when a guard stopped him. "Yah can' be down 'ere, sir. If you would kindly step away..." he started, and Riley turned, taking the high road around to a bar not very far from where he just was. The name made him second guess his decision. "The Rotting Apple? Cheerful."

"Nice." Jessica said. She followed him down towards the docks also. The guard, being big, actually intimidated her. She was happy to get away from him, but then they approached a bar called 'The Rotting Apple' She looked at Riley. "Cheerful? Sounds kinda gross don't ya think?" she said.

Riley nodded. "Heads up, and watch your back." he said quickly. There was a quick flash of silver that seemed to go from his belt to his wrist, at the same time there was a fairly loud crack, like two pieces of wood striking hard. His now open butterfly knife was up his trenchcoat sleeve, ready at any time. He shifted his hand and arm slightly, until the blade rested in a place where it wouldn't move. "Ah, there we go. Well...I'm guessing the view is better from up top...I'm low on cash, and I doubt we can get in a room or even to the roof without buying one...most likely cheaper if I only buy one...isn't that right, dear?" he asked, grinning. "Play along, we are now a young eloped couple with little money looking for a place to stay." he explained, winking to show it was all an act.

Jessica almost laughed. "Okay..." she said. "Right honey. But I don't think we can afford a room." she said, acting very well.

"An inn this dingy? 'Course we can." Riley said, pushing open the door. He heard a few conversations inside that instantly hushed as they walked inside. He walked to the counter, looking 'nervous'. "H-Hey...um...Would it be possible to uh, get a room here? And...we kinda need it secret, ya know?" he stammered to the bartender. The man grunted, telling them the price of a room. It was only a bit over what Riley currently had on him. "I need help..." he whispered to Jessica.

Jessica put on her best face. "Okay..." she whispered back. "Excuse me sir..." she said, looking at the man. "Would you mind lowering your price just a bit? You see, my husband and I are very tired from our long journey. We have been traveling for days you see, and have little money since my purse was stolen, so we can not afford your price at the moment." she looked at the man with big sad eyes. "We would be willing to pay you back soon after we receive some more money." she added. Man I hope this works.... she thought to herself.

The bartender glared, then shot a quick look around the room, then nodded. "Thank you!" Riley said, and handed over the money. He grabbed the key and walked towards the room, which coincidentally had a great view of the harbor. "Now, don't get any ideas." he said with a laugh, closing the door behind him. "Observation is the only point of this. Also, don't worry, I don't plan on letting my money sit idly in his till for long." he added, opening the window. As expected, the view of the ship was extremely good up here. He could see it seemed to be a cargo ship of some type, and for all the guards...there didn't seem to be anyone on deck, or anything coming off or going on to the ship. "I'm headed to the roof for a better look." he said casually, pulling himself through the window and up to the window sill of the third floor room above him. Checking that no one was there, he pulled himself up to the roof.

"Oh, Okay." Jessica said. She decided to just sit in the room and look out the window. She could see the ship from here, but oddly didn't see anyone on or around it. "Huh....Weird..." she said quietly.
