Following the blue and green male, Inazuma stayed low to the ground. Her instincts were also teaching her the techniques to hunting, along with common sense. By staying low in the grass, she woudlnt be as easily seen, though her silver fur would be more easily picked out then Koenshan's green pelt, she hoped that wouldnt be the case. Staying as quiet as possible, she stayed close to the male untill she was given further orders.

User ImageKeeping an eye on the cub's progress he gave a very slight nod of approval. He hoped Inazuma would understand the lack of more acknowledgement... they were afterall hunting, and movements must be small. Belately the green wolf berrated himself for not thinking to hide her bright pelt with dust or dirt before leading her out. It was not something Koenshan had ever had to think of before, not having to do so himself. In fact it might be a good idea all around... there was a chance for earth & plant to mask wolf scent -- at least a little. He tucked away the notions for a later time. Now was the time to hunt.

Keeping his head low the former scout raised his gaze to follow Ren's movements. They waited on her signal. He had faith at least in her experience. He wished he were as confident in himself.

She waited, her piercing eyes catching a hold of the injured prey as she waited for them to take position. Her job was simple really...

Leap out from the bushes, make a bit of noise and send them scattering, then whilst the healthy deer made for cover she'd urge the injured one into the direction of the others then sit back and watch.

A couple of seconds and then she saw them, they were ready.

A soft growl began in her throat as she entered the 'huntress zone', lowering herself in order to propel herself forward. Her muscles cried out as she prepared herself but she ignored it, focusing solely on the injured beast. Oh how much she wanted to tear out it's throat..but alas! It wasn't to be!

Shaking this from her mind she leapt out of cover, her white body stark against the green. However, it'd be winter soon and the white of the snow would make her a valuable hunter.

She gave a round of barks, their sound piercing the air and sending the deer into a flurry, eyes wild and nostrils flared in panic. She couldn't help but smirk as she loped almost casually forwards, steering the deer sideways.

Good, it was heading close enough to the others. Her job was complete.

((if this doesn't test my RP/writing skills... sweatdrop well, here goes nothing.))
User ImageKoenshan almost grinned, seeing their chosen target bolting from its hear on a course that would take it past where he & Inazuma lay in wait for it. Breathing steadily he held back his own instinctive blood lust. wait for it... wait for it...

He glanced at the youngling, so soon to be an adult. Well, she would be after this hunt. A sound alerted him. Something had changed. He focused on thier target only to see that it had veered -- and was heading right for them! Maybe two wolf lengths away and the wounded buck was bearing down on them. The wild light in its eyes showed that it was in a solid panic; it had not seen the two hiding wolves yet. That at least was good.

One wolf length away. Koenshan yipped sharply to warn Inazuma to get out of the charging beast's path, hoping she would take her side. With a primal growl the scout leaped & curled in the air as he had been taught, but had little chance to use. He struck as the buck struck the ground where he had lain in wait. His jaws bit down on its neck, his body curled around the back of its neck like a collar. His innitial elation at having succeded in the manuver faded as it downed on him that he had missed the jugular. Barely. A nose more & his execution of the technique would have been perfect. Now the buck knew of their -or at least his- presense & he still had to bring it down the rest of the way. His bite hurt & enraged their meal-ticket, but was not a killing strike.

Keeping his jaw clenched, Koenshan scrambled his paws against the now bucking herdbeast as it tried to both knock the wolf from its back & skewer him with its horns simultaniously. He had to get a better perchance to try for another bite. He just had too!

((heh... couldn't make it too easy. Plus I wanna give Sango chance to post. I'll finish it Thursday if it's not already over when I get back. *hugs*))

At the sharp yelp, Inazuma bolted to one side, allowing Koenshan to take the bite. Not knowing what to do, she paced anctiously about, trying not to be kicked or stepped on. Knowing his mouth was full and he would not be able to give her orders, her ears pinned, thoughts flashing through her mind. What should she do? she wasnt given an order. Should she stay put or help? He looked like he needed it. Hackles raising and muscles tensing she made up her mind. Springing from her position a few lenths away she bolted towards them and pounced, sinking her fangs into the bucks throat. Clamping down tightly, her front claws dug at the bucks chest as she tried to avoid the flailing font legs.

User ImageThe buck thrashed wildly, two wolves clinging to his throat. He was loosing blood. The youngling's bite was better than Koenshan's -the buck's lifeblood was welling out faster. Koenshan took that moment to get a better bite. *snap!* Blood squirted as he finally got the jugular in the right spot. A final flail and the herdbeast went down. he held on a moment longer, then gasping let go his hold. Lifting his head he smiled wearily at Inazuma. "Good work."

He cast his gaze higher, looking for Ren. She did well and even if it seemed she did not want his praise, the fact that she deserved it pushed Koen to tell her so.

Ren had moved forwards during the others' valiant battle and was now standing not too far away, head held high as she gazed at them through her cold, emotion-less eyes.

Her legs trembled a little, paws aching from the effort of that short lope through the frosty grass, and now her maw quivered at the sight of blood. She wanted to tear at it, eat first as she had done when she was alpha. It was only her physical weakness that reminded her this wasn't her pack...it was someone else's.

A small growl began in her throat, not directed towards anyone else but herself and her shameful predicament. Then she moved forwards towards them, nostrils flaring at the smell of blood.

"Good...job." She seemed to stumble over the compliment, "let's try and get it back to the den." She bared her teeth at the carcass as she prodded it with her nose, reaching out to grab a foreleg in her teeth to give it a tug.

She just smiled at the pup, "No need to apologize, that pup was a harsh one and did me some damage, she won't be a clever one though, a slave to Reicher no doubt." She sighed and just smiled at the youngster, "You will learn to grow though, into a good wolf, a large one and a well cared for. Remember Desert, the pack is your home and only in the pack will you be taught the ways of living, you are however free to go if you so wish." She smiled again as she stood up, licked at his head and walked outside to see the other's returning, at last the announcment could be made.

User ImageHe tried not to sotice the she-wolf's condition, worse for wear from having to be part of the hunt. Instead he gave her a steady & low "Thank you" before getting in position to help the brave female drag their kill. With a flick of his head he indicated that the younger wolf dhould join them and sunk his teeth into the beast to drag it.

((tired. Not thinking well.))

As she retracted her teeth from the fallen beasts through, she panted tiredly. She had built up some muscles on her travels but this stil tired her. She stayed quit as the others exchanged a few words, catching her breath. As Koen indicated to her again though, she nodded in accknowledgement before going forth to wrap her jaws around the carcus once more to help them take it back to the cave

Feeling considerably better about the situation, Desert smiled and got to his feet, watching River make her away outside. He sniffed the air, the wind bringing the scent of the kill downwind to the cave. His tail wagged, as his growling stomach would soon be satisfied by meat, providing the others ad hunted well. If things went as they had in his other pack, he would be the last to eat, but that didn't matter to him at the moment, as long as he got something in the near future.

User ImageIt was tough going, but with the three of them they were able to drag their kill back to pack territory without too much trouble. Koen tried to take up as much of the slak as he could to spare the females. It was just in his nature. Less in his nature was smelling the alluring scent of the buck so close to his nostrils without eating. His stomache growled uncontrolably as he surpressed the urge to eat. His new pack needed him, needed this meat. Besides, he was used to waiting.

They did not go far into the pack's territory. Bad enough they would have left a trail, no sense to drag the trail to the den -- which Koenshan considered the cave to be. That, and he was worried whether the she-wolves could handle much more. Truth be told, he was tiring from trying to carry so much himself.

Pawing the ground he attempted to indicte this might be a good place to set their kill.

User ImageRiver looked down at Desert and smiled, "The food is now in our territory, lets go and eat!" She smiled, she had started to love the youngster quite dearly. She let out a howl to call her mate though she had no idea where the troublesom pup alpha had got to. She just let out a chuckle as they trotted towards the three wolves and the kill. She sat down at the head of the buck and looked to Ren and Koen, "You both may eat." She smiled and then looked to the other femme, she had grown quite a bit since they had left. She nodded her head letting her eat as she pushed desert to eat. Letting out another howl to call Cinder and Diego she also started eating, how nice it was for food to be in her stomach again.
