Monday, all he had to do was wait till Monday and then he'd be able to know if she was all right. What was wrong with him anyways? He rarely cared about others like this but there was something about her that was different. A chill ran down his spine as he reclined on the hotel bed. Lav was out at the moment so he had some space to think and breath but he had been instructed to not go anywhere near the phone or the television. The only thing he was permitted to do was go to the bathroom if needed.
He sensed something as a figure appeared before him, the spitting image of Daria. As he reached forward to touch it he found nothing was there and an image of her came into his mind. Anxiety raced through his system as he realized that the same thing could happen to her.

Dawn had been spending most of the day studying while Arthur worked the store, like he had no choice in the matter to do so. It went against his top priorities, as well as the fact that he was stuck doing this lowly chore instead of doing something important. After the last customer left, he put up a sign saying he would be away for 15 minutes. "Dawn, I'm going to make a call outside, I'll be right back." He shouted from the bottom of the stairs. After hearing a mumble of a reply from her room and a loud cat meow, he grabbed his cell phone and took it outside. He closed the door quietly behind him and rested his back against the dull red brick building and flicked open his jet black cell phone. There was an incoming call. "Hello?" He asked lifting the small phone to his ear. There was a mumbled reply. "Ah yes, she's fine and well," there was another question asked. "Yes I got to her in time." "Yes, there was a male, tall, blackish hair, about my height, maybe a bit taller. Nothing of the unusual..." Arthur's voice trailed off, he was lying, he knew who the male was but he wasn't going to leak it out, to a human like himself. "Yes, I'll keep an eye on him if he comes back." There was a loud blurb of word that came from the phone, and Arthur had to remove it from his ear. "I understand your frustration, but he managed to escape somehow..." There was silence on the phone and then one last word. "Understood." Arthur replied before hanging up. 'One more call to make...' Arthur thought to himself now slightly slumped due to that aggravating conversation over the phone. Arthur dial the phone again and another conversation took place.
Dawn had only been studying for little over two or three hours. She kept pausing her memorization when she thought about Atticus and how he was doing. She had hopped he would be phoning her again, or at least once today, but it seemed that he was too busy to. Dawn felt short breathed now, fearing for Atticus and his job. He said he had worked as a cleaner, but she didn't think that that was his real occupation. Maybe he was some sort of under cover cop who happened to stay over at her house for a bit. She dismissed that thought, thinking he might possibly be too young, then again she never asked for his age. Also, she dismissed the thought due to that it was just to inconvenient for him to appear at her house and find out that her father had passed away just after he had arrived. All this thinking left her with doing little studying and more worrying. "What are these weird things happening now?" she thought aloud now thinking about how Arthur came to start living with her. Everything seemed to convenient for her.

When was Monday anyways? He was sure it was tomorrow but he would not be done until he'd fulfilled all the duties that Lav placed before him. He felt a knot in his stomach as he turned over on the bed. He couldn't concentrate when he knew that there was a stranger living in her house and that someone had tried to kill her. A shiver crawled down his spine as he considered the entire situation.
"Thinking a bit too hard?" Lav asked as he came through the door. "Why don't you call your friend?"
Atticus just nodded before he turned over on the bed and picked up the phone. He fished the piece of paper out of his pocket after a moment and slowly punched the numbers in. He was exhausted at this point so he didn't feel like moving. His mind was on a rampage though and it seemed Lav had picked up enough food to feed ten humans, then again he ate more than he usually did when he had this many transports to do. He waited then as the phone rang.

"Hello?" The response from the phone was not of Dawn's own voice, but Arthur's. Dawn was busy and he was asked to take any and all phone calls until she got back, and could take over. He tried to sound welcoming and warming to the customers but he soon realized that this wasn't a customer. "This is Atticus, isn't it?" Arthur asked walking around to the front of the store to hold it close for a few minutes while he could talk in peace. He then went around into the living room and sat down, the portable phone pressed against his ear. "If you're worried about Dawn, she's fine, you don't need to get overly stressed about it..." He sounded more blunt and emotionless then anything.

"Could I speak to her though?" Atticus asked. What did he know? Nothing. There were so many things that could happen to her and it scared him more than anything else on the planet. She could get hurt by this so-called 'Arthur' and no one would be able to stop him. A shiver ran down his spine when he noticed the fact that Lav was staring at him again, it made him uncomfortable.
"Not getting her on the phone are you?" Lav asked. "Too bad."
Atticus didn't move to react to what Lav was saying because he knew the sentence would last longer if he did. He was shaking slightly though since he knew exactly what Lav was thinking and it was upsetting him. "Did you do something to her?"

Arthur's reaction was unresponsive. "No, I'm sorry but she's out for a bit could I-" There was a loud sound that came from the front of the store. "I'M BACK!" Dawn sung, loudly enough for Atticus to hear her. Arthur sighed, and pulled the phone close to his ear. "You're in luck, she just got back." He said with a mocking tone to his voice. "Oh, and reaper, don't worry, I won't harm you're 'precious' one, but there are people in this world that will, if you understand what I mean. This is no threat, but I am warning you, anything could happen when she's alone..." he voice trailed off as he stood up and handed the phone over to Dawn.
Dawn blinked, "Who is it..." she started to ask before it popped into her head. "Atticus...?" She asked pulling the phone closer to her ear. "Is that you?" Dawn placed the bags on the ground and Arthur returned to his post. She waited for his reply.

Lav had taken the phone before Atticus could throw it against the wall. The vile words hit a bit too close to home so when Dawn spoke Lav was forced to speak for Atticus.
"He'll be back in a second, your friend there called him something he doesn't like... reminds him of someone..." Lav had begun to say but Atticus had snatched the phone again.
"Dawn be careful and if you need to have someone escort you to and from school," Atticus said a bit sharply, though he had not intended it. He was all too aware of the dangers and the words that he'd heard from this 'Arthur' were a bit troublesome. "I have a question though. The first night I stayed there did you see someone sitting next to me?"
He could feel a pain rise in his spine as a warning single not to tell her what he was. He just wanted to know though and the answer wouldn't lead to anything else. It was just a curious thing.

Dawn had to think for a second about the question he was asking. "I have been thinking about that a lot lately... the memory seems a bit fuzzy and what I remember was this mass of white mist..." Her voice trailed off, as she recalled the memory. "I guess it did seem like someone was sitting beside you but I can't remember who is was, and I could make anything out other then it looked like a person..." Dawn snapped back to the present and asked, "Why, is there something wrong?" She felt her stomach twist in a knot and she couldn't help feeling uneasy. Something else had happened that night... she just couldn't remember, but it did send shivers down her spine. She shook it off and sighed. "Well, it doesn't really matter I guess, I might have been really tired so I could have imagined it..." That's what Atticus had told her, and now that she was more trusting, she guessed that she trusted him and his words.
Dawn was in the kitchen, and had been making something to eat while she was talking on the phone. "Say... Atticus...when do you think you'll be home again?" there was that word again, and she had said it before to him. Why did she feel so used to a complete stranger being in her house?

"Well be careful if you see something like that again, you might have an ability that.... is strange," Atticus said, choosing his words carefully as he spoke. "But I'd prefer to discuss that subject in person." He'd glanced at Lav who was now picking at his fingers for some reason, not really caring about the subject bu realizing that it could turn dangerous in a second.

Dawn was confused by his wording. "A strange ability? I'm not sure what you mean by that..." 'Is there something he's keeping from me?' Dawn wondered as she stayed on the line not noticing Arthur ease dropping by using the other phone in the other room, but there was no sign that he was.
His eyes narrowed as he started talking about this 'ability'. He listened a little while longer before hanging up. He was going to have to take action soon. If she gained this new ability then it might mean trouble for her and him. Though nothing seemed different a the moment.

"It's nothing really, it sometimes runs in families... ow don't poke me," Atticus began to speak though when Lav interuppted him he got a sharp pain in his side and lost his sight for a moment. "I'll see you tomorrow. Please be careful and if you see any misted forms...."
He'd gotten the phone taken away and Lav was now ready to continue what Atticus was saying. "Try talk to them... but for now Atticus can't speak on that subject, he's a bit... incapacitated at the moment. Long day but you'll get to see him tomorrow, good bye."

Dawn blinked. 'That sure was unusual, the request I mean...' she thought when the other person hung up the phone. She wondered who he was, but she guessed it didn't matter all that much, besides, Atticus was coming home tomorrow and that's what had really mattered. Dawn hung up the phone as well and went top check on Arthur. "Hey, Atticus' is going to be back here tomorrow" She said smiling. "I'm going to cook up a special meal, would you like to help?" By saying 'like to help' Dawn really meant, 'you'll go out and get the supplies I need, right?' as if it wasn't a question at all.
Arthur was at it again, reading the news. He looked up over the sheet of large paper and sighed, there was no escaping her will. "Yeah, sure, just be careful and close up early tomorrow, got it?" At the request, he stood up and folded the paper, and placed on the table.
"Thanks a lot!" Dawn spoke with enough enthusiasm. Without realizing it she had hugged Arthur, who was just as surprised. "O-oh, sorry..." she mumbled as she removed her arms from his waist. "I'll just work at the register for a while longer, then I'll make us some lunch and then close up." She sounded very cheerful, making her way to the front of the store.

Atticus had quite literally passed out after that. He was exhausted and would most likely sleep for quite a while. Lav was pacing the room now, thinking to himself how he could capture the spirit of Dara or whatever that girls name was. She was making Atticus loose focus and putting that same old mopey look on his face like the world was about to end. He studied his hand for a moment before glancing at the clock. He could seal her spirit within him and he knew that might work but he'd need to do research on it. He'd get nightmares more frequently than he already did but she'd be there which meant he'd probably sleep a tad bit more.

Arthur shrugged as he pulled on his jacket and headed to the store. What was he going to do now? The last thing he wanted was to move her by force, but she couldn't stay stay here forever, it wasn't safe. He had been doing research on the person who attacked her, but there was no leads or motive as far as he could establish. "What am I going to do?" he asked himself aloud while walking down the street.
Dawn was working in the front of the store when another stranger in black came in. She had had her back turned him. "Excuse me miss..." He began, hiding his eyes under his black hay. "Mind helping me out for a minute or two?"
Dawn turned around and smiled. "Sure, what can I help you out with?"
"It's just outside... so if you follow me please..." The man sounded very suspicious but Dawn didn't notice it.
"Alright." She followed him outside to his car. "What's wrong?" She asked looking back at him.
"Oh hang on..." He opened the door. "It's at my house."
Dawn received a sudden chill down her spine. "I-I'm sorry but i have to watch my shop-" before she could finish the man appeared behind her and grabbed her arm, twisting it behind her back. "I'm very sorry to have to do this..." he said placing what looked like a white cloth over her mouth. "What-" Dawn tried to struggle against it, but he was too strong, and in the end, she inhaled the fumes on the cloth and passed out.

Atticus had woken up suddenly with a chill running down his spine. He sensed something was wrong but he wasn't sure what it was. He would now she was all right tomorrow then everything would fine. He sank back into the bed before staring up at the ceiling. Lav wasn't there so he must have been down in the lobby reading some of the brochures that were placed there and certain hot spots for tourists in Paris.
"Maybe..." he said to himself. "I could call her and make sure she's all right."
