Joliette looked through her pile of envelopes she went through them as carefully as possible having already poked holes in the corners of many of them by accident with her new claws.
She found the one she was looking for and slid it under the door of her friend.
Note Enclosed with Merry Christmas Hargun I couldn't think of anything else to give my friends so I holed up in the darkroom for a few hours pouring through my Photographic work and thought you might like this one... Thanks for everything you've done for me ~Joliette

Gathering up all the plushies she had time to make for the holidays, Amaya set to delivering each one. She wasn't sure if anyone would like them since... well, they were stuffed animals afterall, but since she had no money and was an ocean away from any store, she did the only thing she knew how.
Approaching Hargun's door, she set down a tiny bat plushie with green patches and aqua buttons for eyes. A small slip of paper was tied around one of it's wings with black thread. When it's opened up it reads in rather scraggly handwriting (holding a pen has become rather hard with her new hands): Quote: Dear Hargun, I know the holidays are the least one our minds, but I don't think we should let the staff get our spirits down. I just want you to know that despite the situation were all in, I could never express how glad I am that I met you... though I just wish it was under better circumstances. I hope you have a happy holiday, regardless of how things are... and that the b*****d Moreau doesn't give us coal for making faces at the cameras. Love, Amaya <3

Sometime in the middle of the night, a grey-furred figure quietly makes a stop on your doorstop to deposit a cloth-wrapped package. The cloth is cut from a scrap piece of blue tarp from the looks of things, and tied shut with a length of rope. Pinned to it is a note on Feral Labs stationary (much like the pad found in all of your duplexes in the desk drawer), penned in an elegant, confident hand.
Quote: Hargun, I know that you more than many have been given a short stick in regards to their fate on this island. Like me, you had your dreams and your future ahead of you, only to be whisked away by the madman in charge. Furthermore, they robbed you of another of your pleasures - drawing. Creation. Art. I know people have given you suggestions about using your feet, or rigging a pencil to be held with your winglike hands.... but another idea occurred to me while... doing some construction. I unearthed a big chunk of clay. I thought of you almost immediately. I know your hands are different - but I woudl think that you can still shape - with hands or feet, even if differently. Then, you can leave the clay to bake in the hot sun of this island to have still some permanent creation wrought by your hand. If you perhaps enjoy it - there is always more where this came from. Merry Christmas, ~ Ambrose Maurlias
And once the rope is cut or untied, inside the package is another package - this time burlap that has been thorougly soaked in water. Inside of that is a large block of clay.

Hargun walked back to her duplex after a day of eating and exploring to find the many gifts left on her doorstep.
"Good lord.. what in the- OH MY GOD! No.. No way... I FORGOT ITS CHRISTMAS!" she shouted and smacked herself several times over in the head, till her eyes stung a bit. Usually she loved the time of year, and celebrated it regularly, but being here had made her forgotten completely.
She gathered up all the stuff in a 'wing', and moved inside, placing everything on her bed.
She looked at the card, curiously trying not to scratch at it to open, then the plush and clay, reading the letters before shakily having to put everything down.
"I feel like such a b***h.. why didnt I think about this sooner?" she said and snuggled the plush, eyeing the beanie Amaya had given her when they first met.
After a moment of silent, she looked back over Ambroses note through teary eyes. She wiped her nose on her arm then picked up the clay in a hand and thought for a minute. Then, she sprung an idea. Shed have to hurry, but itd be worth it in the end. Shed make a clay figure for each of her friends. Hopefully itd erase the guilt that was shadowing around her.

Hargun returned to her duplex after running out giving everyone their gifts. She felt so proud of herself for getting that off her chest, and even getting things for people who she couldnt think of anything for.
Although her arm was tired now from writing each letter and molding each piece, she felt so accomplished. Turning in for the night, she checked the doormat incase anything else had been left down there, and shut the door.
She plopped herself up on the bed again, and held on to the plushie Amaya had given her. Half of the ckay had been left on the table, and the card from Joliette sat next to it, ready to be open at the right time.
"Yah know little buddy.. despite Im a bat too.. and Im stranded here forever.. and the staff members are all dicks.. this doesnt seem like that bad of a Christmas. All it needs are.. manga books to flood the floor, pocky beyond my stomache's content, a wide screen, theatre system TV, a big DDR arcade system, and my arms. Although Id settle for an ipod too.." she said, looking down at the plush laughing. "I knew it.. Id end up talking to you. Im crazy." she sighed, and layed back on her pillow staring at the ceiling.

When you wake up a large box is sitting in your room. Inside the box you find large bat statue that looks african in origin. As well as dishware and utensils and all of it appears to be made out of a brown clay.
(The dishes are made of bat guano and are athentic african in origin. Someone with a more sensative sense of smell might be able to figure this out since Hargun would likely have a simlar scent. Inside the bat statue's head which is detachable (but does not appear so) is a well hidden ipod nano. It has music based on the taste Moreau would assume you have from what he knows.)

Hargun woke up and blinked several times. That night shed dreamt she was back home and enjoying Christmas with her family like she usually did, only to be awaken as soon as the presents started disappearing. She hated that in dreams.
Yawning, she sat up and glanced at the card she waited for Christmas to open. She carefully cut it open, remarkably easy with her clawed thumb and pulled out the letter and picture.
"Holy wow-" she said at the picture and read the letter smiling. "Aww.. thank you Joliette.." she said to herself.
Then the box caught her eye. "What the..." she began and crawled over to it and began digging things out. "Whos this from.. Moreau?" she guessed, hed be the only one who could get in anyways.
She pulled out the bat, actually pretty interested in it, at least more than the plates and utensils that were there as well. She dug through the rest of the box, as if expecting to find something else. "Hmm.. this is it?" she said. Er.. I really shouldnt say that.. I could at least be a little grateful. At least its not another change or some coal. It could be a lot worse. A whole lot worse. Oh well..
Hargun picked up the bat statue and set it on a shelf on the other side of the room, the plates and utensils too. Right now she still had doubts about them.. like the bat statue. It might have had a camera in it for all she knew.

That night, at 3am on the dot, there is a LOUD sound of an explosion, originating from the sky above the Island. Looking out, or anyoune outside would look up to see a brief fireball in the sky. Following that, any power that is on begins to flicker, going through a few brownouts before finally shutting down altogether. If you happen to be awake at that point - you would notice all the lights around you, any electronic equipment that wasn't battery operated flicker and die. However, within a few seconds of the final powersurge and failure, you find yourself being pulled into a forced unconsciousness.
When you wake up, it is midafternoon the following day, though it would vary within a few hours depending on the individual. You are NOT in your duplex. You wake up to find yourself very deep in a dark cave that is under the mountain. It is completely dark and you have absolutely no light.
All of the buildings on the island are in 'shutdown' mode. This means that everything is locked tight. If you attempt to force your way into any of the buildings, your own duplex and the Town Hall included, then you will find that from the outside at the very least, they are impenetrable. If any window was broken - it is now fixed. All of the lights are off - in every building. Even the electric fence surrounding the main laboratory is turned off - though still closed. Attempts to break into the main complex will be met with equal lack of luck as breaking into a duplex or the town hall.
The only items you have on you are the items that you would have been wearing when you were asleep/fell unconscious: including clothing and perhaps a few battery-powered electronics IF You would have been wearing them. That's it. Everything else is where you left it - if it was in your duplex, it still is and you can't get to it.
There is no sign of what happened to the staff. The labs are quiet from the outside.
Welcome to the Wild.

Waking up.. in a CAVE and meeting Ray. (going on) Quote: Hargun woke up and groaned slightly, all she could remember was sitting on her bed and staring down the bat statue until thing dark and he was conked out. She opened her eyes and wasnt shocked to find everything around her completely pitch dark. In fact, she figured she was still in her duplex only it was early in the morning. But her back was aching and when she felt her webbed hand out, the ground was slimy and cold.. and rock hard. She sat up quickly, and tried looking around then realized she wasnt in her bed anymore. She jolted up quickly, but slammed her head on an unknown figure. "ow, ********!" she shouted and winced, holding a hand to her head. "oh ********.. oh ********.. oh ********.." she heard and turned in a circle bewildered. There was an echo? "Where in the hell am I?" she asked herself quietly and tried walking fowards a bit but brushed up against the wall of the cave. After a while of feeling around she started finding open areas she could walk in but rocks and walls continued to make obstacles in the dark. Hargun began to worry as she trekked along that maybe she HAD gone blind. It was too traumatizing for her to figure she was in a cave.. and that Moreau's staff stuck her there. Quote: Rayanya and her iPod were absolutely inseperable - she kept the earbuds that came with it almost constantly in her ears except when the battery to the thing died, during which she would await the four-hour-long recharge time like a crack addict waiting to get out of rehab. And now, especially since her changes, she figured that the music it gave her was the only thing keeping her alive. Rayanya had just pulled her iPod from its charger and had replaced its headphones to her head, starting a playlist of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, when the brownout occured. She shrugged, sitting down on her bed and listening to one of the Murder Ballads, lighting one of the candles she had left from Jul. She placed the book of matches in her pants pockets and was merrily singing along to a story song about a boy who threw his true love in the river, when she passed out. When Ray came to again, she at first thought that the candle she had lit had gone out on its own and that it was early morning. She rolled over to fall back asleep (her playlist had ended by now and silence was coming from her iPod), when she noticed something odd -- this wasn't her bed. This was... rock? It was about then, before Rayanya could get her bearings, that she heard another voice ring out. "Ow, ********!" it said, feminine... but not familiar. Who the hell was that? Even better, where the hell was she? Getting, a little awkwardly, to her feet, as the darkness made it impossible for her to see even her own hand before her face and proved disorienting, Ray let out a call of her own. "Who's there?" Quote: Hargun was still blindly searching around for a path out. After a while she got to walking straight instead of feeling around, sometimes she bumped into stalagmites and tripping over them if they were small enough, but she didnt slam her head again. Hearing someone's voice, she paused. It was pretty clear despite their distance. "Huh? Its.. its Hargun!" she replied, the echo making her shudder a bit but it also gave her a better sense of direction as it seemed to light up in her mind everytime her voice echoed. It was pretty erie. Moving fowards she followed her voice, and tried to remember where the voice of the other was comming from. Quote: Rayanya blinked in the darkness, hoping that her eyes would adjust. They didn't. And with this pitch black, they probably never would. But she had a revelation -- she had placed her matches in her pocket, hadn't she? "Hargun?" She called out; the name wasn't familiar. Rayanya fumbled through her pants pocket for the matches and finally pulled the book out; feeling with her fingers she managed to pull the package open, rip one off, and began to feel around for the striking surface. She eventually managed to find it and flicked the matchead along it, lighting it -- the resulting flare of light killed her eyes. The match let her see a few inches around her but didn't really give her anything before it was engulfed in the darkness. Ray decided that, before it managed to burn to her fingers, she'd put it back out. She tossed the used match to the floor of the cave and called out again. "Where are you? Wait... stupid question..." Quote: Hargun heard her and followed her voice, though she had no idea who she was. What if she was staff just waiting for her to come out and snatch her? Oh well.. better than being stuck in this darkness. "Ive no idea.. uhm.. but if you keep talking I think I can find where you are." she said loudly. And while she replied she could find the walls and objects near her. Hopefully she could find this person and even better a way out. Quote: Hargun definately didnt know her, but her idea of her being staff was starting to die down fortuntely. "Okay, Rayanya. ACK!" she just barely missed that column but stubbed her toe on a thin one beside it. "Im guessing its dark where youre at too? Any chance you know where we are?" she asked, hopeful that maybe she had been awake longer then her and explored the cave more. It was just a matter of a few more pathways and a few more rocks till she was close to the other, or at least thats what their voices seemed to be telling her. Quote: Hargun followed the voice, her pace slightly quickening as she squeezed through a thin but empty hall-like passage. "I never knew we had a cave here.. after the many months Ive been here I thought there was just a jungle, cliffs, the labs, a river, the village, and the beaches." she laughed in her mind for a second. It was kinda weird she didnt know there was a cave with a list like that, but who could just come across a random cave without climbing around the mountain? She began to hear Ray's steps, knowing they were now close. "Okay.. I.. I think Im close now." she said. Quote: Rayanya kept her pace towards Hargun, slowly and cautiously feeling the ground before her, especially ever since getting the idea that the floor might drop off. "I wouldn't have expected it either," Ray called back. "But I guess its rational..." Another cautious step, another idea in her mind. "Oh my gods. Hargun, you don't think there are bats in here, do you?" Ray couldn't help but shudder to herself at the thought. Didn't they enjoy nesting in the long, soft hair of humans? Quote: Hargun stopped and blinked in the darkness. ...Should I tell her or no? Laughing slightly and uneasily she scratched her head and walked slowly fowards. "I uh.. dont.. think so... Ive never seen any flying around the island at night so I dont think there's any in here. She looked around after squeezing through the passage. Things were starting to get a LITTLE lighter but not enough to quit trying to call out to each other. Speeding up again, Hargun called out. "What.. would you do if there were any bats though?" Quote: Rayanya listened to Hargun's voice; yes, getting closer. Gods... she hoped they could find a way out of here. What if the doctor had barred the entrance to the cave and they were trapped? Was he going to kill them off? Were they merely failed science experiments? Ray tried to force those thoughts from her mind and concentrate on the cave floor before her. Too late. Ray hit a stalagmite and went down, scuffing an elbow on the rock floor. "OW. Godammit!" She cursed loudly. Ray forced herself to her feet and wiped herself off, wincing at the pain in her elbow, squinting tears from her eyes. She finally replied to Hargun. "I don't know... if they tried to get in my hair I'd flip out, but so long as they stayed away from me I think I'd be okay..." She really couldn't answer truthfully, as Ray had never seen a bat before in her life. Quote: ayanya brushed a bit of blood away from her elbow. "I'm fine, just tripped and scuffed my elbow up a bit. When we get back to... civilization, I'll have to douse it with rubbing alcohol." If they got back to civilization, piped a little voice in her head. She ignored it. "So... ummm... don't take this the wrong way, but if you've started changing into something, tell me, so I know and don't freak out when I see you. I doubt I would but a dark cave can create tricks in you--oof." Ray had just run into a wall, not noticing that the cave had narrowed. She navigated her way around the barrier and went through a smaller passageway, emerging on a widened end. Quote: They were now in the same, considerably, room and Hargun could tell she was in there. "Uhm.. yea.. Ive changed. Twice. So.. itll look pretty bad at first." she said and stoped where she was standing. "Okay.. I uh.. THINK we're close.." she said in a reasonably low voice, to make sure they were as close as she thought. Quote: Rayanya, however, didn't stop moving. "Ah... I've only changed once. Its really weird. I can't tell at all what I'm becoming. My ears are... HUGE. And I have so much fur. I tried to shave it off but I just ruined a razor and gave up. And there's... skin... or something growing from beneath my armpits..." Ray rambled a bit about her change and didn't pay any real attention to where she was going, therefore running smack into Hargun. Damn. That was the second time she's run into someone. Quote: "Ack!" Hargun fell back on her but and looked around, seeing just the very faint figure of Ray. "Alright, we've found each other.." she said with a little laugh and tried to stand up, brushing herself off. "Hmm.. big ears?" at first Hargun thought maybe she was changing into a fox or something.. but then the skin and the fuzz. Was.. she turning into a bat too? "Are you.. having any cravings for anything certain?" she asked, usually that was what tipped the scale with only a few clues. "But.. before we get to far in the subject maybe we outta go looking for the exit?" she asked. And tried looking ahead in the direction Ray came for hopefully a sign of light. Quote: Rayanya had fallen over on top of Hargun -- thankfully, the girl was tall but not very heavy. She blushed a bright red still visible beyond the furry sideburns that she had grown in and scampered off the girl as quickly and carefully as possible. "Sorry, sorry... didn't see you..." Ray reached a hand down to help the other up. "Cravings? Well, lots for fruit. Which is odd, because I never really liked fruit before. Especially honeydew. But you're right," Rayanya agreed, "we do need to find our way out of this place. Twisting her head around, Ray also began to search for a hint of light. Quote: "Its okay" she said as they looked for light. "Fruit? Now.. thats odd.." she said. So much for her bat theory. It hadnt occured to her at the moment to consider flying foxes and fruit bats. After living off bugs and some normal food for days on end, she thought of all bats being insectivores. "Well since I found you, maybe I can find an exit. We'll probably need to shout everyonce in a while.. I know it sounds weird but.. heh.. thats how we found each other right?" she said and hoped that when they did reach light, Ray wouldnt freak even if she told her she changed. The woman did not seem very fond of the leathery winged creatures that Harg was becomming.. Quote: Ray brushed herself off again and turned a full circle now, looking. "I really don't know how to get out of here... I mean, I've never been in a cave before. I think the closest thing I've been in to a cave is an abandoned warehouse near where I used to live, and that's hardly like this at all." Ray looked towards Hargun and gave her a pitiful look, not that the other would be able to see it, in most likelyhood... "Oh," Ray exclaimed suddenly. "I have matches. They didn't do me a whole lot of good but maybe you'd have some ideas." Quote: Hargun scratched her head thoughtfully, careful of the two horns that lie there and she often forgot about. She nodded. Luckily she still had her sunglasses with her, and if they struck a match it wouldnt hurt her eyes as much if she put them on. "Maybe if we took one, lit it, then threw it towards that pathway over there-" Harg noticed the pathway Ray had come from while they talked- "We could see where the floor is and get out of here. How many matches do you have left?" Quote: "Ummm... Not quite sure." Rayanya pulled the matches from her pocket and flipped the cover on them, then ran her fingers over it, mindful of her clawlike nails. "Feels like about half a book remains. Its a good idea, but I don't know how long it will carry us." With those words, Ray pulled free a match. "Prepare your eyes, I'm going to light one of these things." Quote: Hargun pulled the sunglasses off her shirt, luckily they didnt fall off while she tried to find Ray. "Alright.. light 'er up." she said and waited to finally see something a little bright, even if it did hurt her eyes. "If we run out we'll stick to trying avoid walls and such to get out, but hopefully this will get us past obsticles." she said. Quote: Rayanya nodded, located the striking surface, and tugged the match along it. The resulting flare of light hurt her eyes even more than the first one, and she didn't regret having to throw it before them. Thankfully, the match stayed lit on its path through the air, landing about five feet in front of them. "There we go, match number one. We'd best get moving before it runs out." Ray looked back at Hargun, and then began to move towards the match. Quote: Hargun watched the light fly fowards and grinned. Yes, this would work nicely.. that way she didnt freak herself out with her powers of hearing where everything was. "Alright, after you." she said and followed Ray, only able to really see the sillhouette of her feet from the match on the floor as she walked closer. Quote: Rayanya managed to get a couple feet beyond the match when it fizzled out, and she cursed. "I just hope we're not that far in right now, or else we'll run out of matches." She waited for Hargun to catch up to her, readying another match. "I never thought I'd say it but I'll be happy to see some sunlight." Quote: Hargun chuckled. "Ill be happy too. Just gotta make sure Ive got my sunglasses on when we find the exit or else when I walk out Ill be seeing shades of blue." She continued to follow Ray and her trail of matches. As they stepped fowards, Hargun could tell they were getting closer to the exit by the muffling of her clawed toenails after a few echoes, and the cool breeze of the outside was beginning to flow through the cave. Quote: Rayanya was about to light the second match when she paused, one of her ears twitching slightly. "What do you mean, shades of blue?" She then cracked it along the strip, tossing it before her and watching it fizzle when it hit the ground. Not wanting to lose the match in waiting for a response, Ray carried off after that one as well. Quote: "Well, its like when you stare at the sky too long in the car and then look down, well if youre not wearing sun glasses. Im not sure why I guess its from my transformation." she said and shook her head as she followed Ray. Quote: "I see," Rayanya replied, pausing to sniff at the air. She could detect nothing but the overpowering stink of sulphur. Ever since her sense of smell had gone up, Ray had started breathing mainly through her mouth. Rayanya flicked another match and tossed it ahead, then trotted off. Quote: Hargun blinked at her pausing. "Something wrong?" she asked curiously. But then she lit the other match, so Harg followed after. Hopefully they were getting close.. but there was the whole check out each others' changes thing. Maybe then Harg could figure out what she was changing into. Quote: Rayanya shook her head. "No, nothing's wrong. I was just wondering if my apparently increased sense of smell would be able to help us out of here. You know, maybe I could smell the beach or something. But I got nothing. Well, aside from a bit of mustyness and a lot of sulphur." Ray threw another match before them, and, as before, followed. Quote: Hargun turned her head. "Sulphur? Hmm.. the mountain maybe? Maybe thats where we're at.. I mean it only makes sense.." she said. Where else would Moreau have a damn cave now? Speaking of Moreau, she got a bit ticked off now realizing the trouble they were going through just to get out. "Damn Moreau.. you think hes behind this?" she asked Ray. Surely she knew how much of a b*****d the man was.. Quote: Rayanya blinked. "I meant from the matches... but I suppose that the mountain could be contributing too it as well... yeah..." She thought a moment, shrugged. "Moreau? Most likely. That man... is a Dr. Jekyl, Mr Hyde. When I came here he was nice as pie, when I asked him what I was changing into he only said I was becoming the same thing as another person on the island, but a different subspecies. Then he gave me amazing presents for Christmas, now... Well, it wouldn't surprise me in the least if it was him." Ray tossed a match before them. Quote: Hargun continued the wait and follow the light routine they had going. "I never.. well.. Ive only met him once if he was being nice... but he was lying to me. He and his girl Aubrey were walking down the beach and this was while I was still uh.. human. But ever since, I havent seen anything good about him. He got me guano-made plates and utensils.. and this crappy bat statue for Christmas. I was expecting coal though from being a snot to him and his cameras.." she said with a laugh, remembering the many times she and Amaya had tried being shits. Hmm.. Moreau couldnt possibly have cameras in the cave now could he? Quote: Rayanya nodded her head. "Yeah, a lot of the islanders that I've met don't care much for him. He got me my iPod, and put all my favorite bands on it, and also bought me a gorgeous new dress..." Rayanya trailed off, thinking, then rolled her shoulders once again at Hargun. "Guano? Isn't that bat s**t?" She remembered the term from one of the Ace Ventura movies. As before, Ray lit up another match. "Only about ten left." Quote: "An iPod?! No ******** way. AGH! Oh I hate him so much now.." she said angrily, though tried not to make it sound jealous. It was definately more towards Moreau. "Yea.. and Ambrose, a buddy of mine he smelt it and told me right as I ate off of it. Threw it down and broke it." she said, and all of a sudden remembered the distaste in her mouth. "Okay.. lets try to avoid using them if theres a long stretch of plain flat ground." Quote: Ray nodded, lowering her hands to her hip to make sure it was still attached to her pants. It was indeed. "That's ridiculously disgusting. Oh, you know Ambrose too? He's the only reason I believed what another girl told me about the island..." Ray sighed. "So how did you get here? For me, I was told that I could make some extra cash through medical research. You know, letting them test their stuff on me." Ray continued along without a match, now at a shuffle, using her boots to navigate before her. Quote: "Eewja." Harg shuddered. "Ah, yea, I know Ambrose. He was the one that told me the secret- him and this girl Greer told me." she looked at the ground and watched, or more like listened to her toes click on the hard surface. "I wouldnt volunteer myself for research, uck. I cant stand the thought of it. I came here with another guy- we were told it was an art community. And so.. yea.. I had a whole bright future planned, and everyday I drew in my sketchbook until I learned the truth. Now I physically cant even pick up a pen or pencil cause of my changes." she said sadly. Hargun walked slowly but in full steps as their converstaion gave her an image of the walls around them.

((continued rp..)) Quote: Ray's ear twitched again. Hargun couldn't pick up a pen or pencil? "Ugh, that sucks. And I hope that doesn't happen to me... I'm not that good of an artist but I still like to draw every once in a while." She felt at her hands, clawed and furry, and wondered what the hell she was going to become. "Think I should light a match or are you okay for now? You seem to be better at seeing in the dark than I am." Quote: Hargun sighed. "Yea, but Ive learned to pick up and hold things with my toes. It youre turning into something that cant pick up stuff maybe you could try it too." she tried to sound reassuring. "Im good, I can tell where stuff is at now. If you want to light a match then you can." she said. Quote: "It might be wise to save them, I don't know how much farther we have to go. And we could be going in the wrong direction..." Rayanya fell behind Hargun, following along the other woman's trail. "Can you draw with your toes?" She asked finally, a bit of worry in her voice. Quote: "Uhm.. sorta. Nothing very elaborite or detailed like if I used my hand but if I use a big enough canvas or piece of clay or whatever, itll turn out recognizable." she said and noticed Rayana switching behind her. "I hope we arent going in the wrong direction.. but if I take my sunglasses off, it looks like everythings becomming a little bit lighter, or at least compared to where I was stuck. How could they have possibly moved me back that far?" he said, though the last question was more like a loud thought. Quote: Rayanya wasn't far behind Hargun, keeping close enough so that she could keep her eyes on the girl. Now that she thought about it it was a bit easier to see her. "Well, I'm sure you'll get better with it with practice." "They probably had flashlights when they did this. I'm certain it was the staff... I mean, who on the island would grab the two of us and stick us in a cave?" Quote: Hargun glanced back once and then looked around and at the ceiling. "Hmm.. OH! I bet they also used that.. 'sleep' command thing theyve used on some of the islanders.. but on both of us." She started to walk just a little faster. "The passage is getting wider now... and I dont think theres anything else jetting from the ground or ceiling.." Quote: "Yeah, now that I think of it, Joliette told me about it. Said that they could make you pass out with a single phrase." Rayanya shuffled along, hoping that Hargun could see enough to keep them from falling into some sort of bottomless pit. "That's a good thing, then," Rayanya heaved a sigh of relief, then tried the sniffing thing again. "I can smell something other than cave mustyness, too, so with any luck we're getting really close." Quote: "Ah thats good news... I cant wait to get out of here.. and stretch." she said, and started to slow down a bit. She turned her head back and blinked. "Now uhm.. do you want me to tell you what Im changing into NOW or.. wait to see for yourself?" she asked, a little bit worried. Quote: Rayanya kept hoping to see a hint of outside sunlight peeking around a cave wall or, even better, an obvious opening into any sort of terrain other than the blasted cave. "Ditto... too dark and dank and... guh." Ray then refocused on Hargun. "Well, you can tell me now if you want. Or we can wait." Quote: Hargun decided to let her wait. She stepped back a little, the passage wide enough for them to walk side by side. Shed let Ray step out first.. and not scare her back into the cave with her uh.. batness. "Ill wait till we get out of here.. I uh.. dont wnat to shock you TOO much. If youve seen Ambrose, youve seen what two changes does.." Quote: Rayanya nodded her head. "Definately. And Ambrose wasn't... that scary. Granted I thought he was a werewolf at first but..." She trotted after Hargun, curiosity getting the best of her -- she could only get a silhouette, but she was trying to figure out what the girl was through it. Quote: Hargun laughed. "I shouldnt be laughing but.. thats kinda funny. Although I wouldnt blame you. Hes changed quite a bit. I cant remember but I think I met him only at his first change." she said and soon things were getting brighter. She paused though and glanced back at the darker end of the passage. "...what the..?" Quote: Ray chuckled. "Yeah. I felt a little bad afterwards. But it was kind of funny, now that I look back at it..." Rayanya smiled slightly as she noticed the passageway getting brighter. Perhaps they were finally reaching the end. However, as Ray saw Hargun pause, she started to feel a sinking sensation in the pit of her stomach. "What's wrong?" Quote: Hargun's gigantic ears twitched a bit and she blinked. "..I.. have no idea. I thought I just heard.. a scream? Or something like that.." she shook her head. "We outta keep walking.. I think being in the dark so long has already cause me to loose my mind." Quote: Rayanya's mouth pulled into a worried grimace. "A scream? You don't think that there could be another person trapped in here, do you?" She looked towards the path they were on, and remembered the darkness of the cave behind them... she wasn't sure she wanted to return. Quote: "No.. it didnt sound like a person scream. And if it were itd be too late to go back in there." she said and turned back to the direction they were walking. "I dont want to sound uh.. heartless but it sounded pretty far off. We cant go back." She poked a finger in her ear. Maybe it was her imagination? She had never heard something that.. high pitched or that strange in her life. Slowly she began taking slow steps fowards. Quote: Rayanya nodded. "True. And I don't think you sound heartless. I mean, I don't really want to go searching through there either. We could get lost, or worse..." Rayanya bit her lower lip, crossing her arms around her chest, and followed after Hargun. Quote: Hargun trudged along slowly, just incase she heard the sound again and the cave grew lighter and lighter till soon she could see a bit of colored light from afar. "Ee! I think we're almost to the exit." she squealed. Quote: Ray followed behind the other, also noticing the light filtering into the cave now. She could actually see the walls. "Thank the gods," she said. "I didn't think we were ever going to get out of this blasted cave." Quote: Hargun rushed fowards as the light grew brighter and brighter. No more obsticles, no more cloumns to bump into. "Finally! We can get some fresh air!" she said and turned her head back for a second both to glance at Ray and to figure out what in the world that flapping sound was. Quote: Rayanya let out a little cheer and dashed after Hargun, anticipating getting into sunlight for the first time in her remembered life. How wonderful it would be to feel the sun's warm, open rays as opposed to the chill of the cave. However, even Ray paused now. "Hey Hargun? What's that weird noise?" Quote: As soon as Hargun passed out into the sunlight she turned. "Oh CRAP!" she said as the flapping grew louder and closer, and she could hear the screeching again whirling through her ears. "Maybe we should move out of the opening of the cave.." she said shocked to see several grey flashes comming closer and closer. Quote: Ray picked up the pace to leave the cave, dashing out and aligning herself with Hargun. She was so worried about the flapping noises that she didn't even note the other woman's changes. "Oh... mygods... Hargun, what are those things?" Quote: "They look like... A BUNCH OF BATS!" she shouted over their screeching and knelt down on the ground so they wouldnt end up flying into her. As they shot out of the cave like a large group of locus, and their shrieking and screeching cause Harg to wince. Though as she opened her eyes and stared while they still flew out she seemed oblivious now to the overall shock. She suddenly felt.. light.. and wanting to follow them... even while they were flying. She wanted freedom and to fly. Quote: Rayanya let out a scream at the word 'bats' and tossed herself to the ground, mindless of hurting herself or her clothes. She covered her head with her hands and didn't even bother to watch their progression. Hargun might be able to hear her whimpering, "Please don't get in my hair, please don't get in my hair..." Quote: Hargun continued to stare as soon as all of them left the cave, one or two struggling behind but eventually catching up with the rest. She chuckled once as if seriously amazed then looked at Ray on the ground covering her head. "I.. uh.. think that was all of them." she said. "There doesnt look like theres one in your hair by the way.." Why did.. I just feel that way? she thought at the wierd feeling she got watching them zoom off into the distance. Quote: Rayanya waited a moment before she finally peeked her eyes out of between her hands -- she spotted one more, a straggler, eeped and covered her head again. About a minute later she looked around again and deemed the area safe and bat free. "Thanks..." she muttered, looking a bit embarassed. "Its probably an old wive's tale, but I'd rather not take my--" At this point Ray had fully craned her head to look at Hargun, and she couldn't help but pause in her speech. Quote: Hargun furrowed her brow a tad and looked at Ray looking at her. Okay.. yea.. maybe she shouldve told her she was a bat while they were in the cave? Well, judging by Ray's ears and changes, the idea of her being a bat too was starting to come back again. "Uhm.. okay. So you can see, Im changing into a er.. bat." Quote: Rayanya looked away. "Sorry. Yes, yes you are." She stood up, brushed herself off. "Erm." Well. This was awkward. She took a clawed hand and tugged at an ear, then ran her hands along her furry sideburns, finally folding them together. Quote: Hargun sighed. "Yeeeeaaaa... well.. Hey, at least we got out of that cave. It doesnt uhm.. matter if Im what you were hoping we were to bump into, right?" she said with a sheepish smile and scratched her head next to her horns and looked around at the enviroment around them. It looked like they were near the base of the mountain. Quote: Rayanya nodded. "Right." Her mind was travelling elsewhere, though. She'd gotten a good glimpse of that last little straggler bat, and didn't really like what she saw. Not because it was a bat, but because of something she caught in its appearance. "Hey... Hargun? That last bat... it had ears kind of like, well..." she trailed off and touched her own ear. Quote: Hargun nearly gasped. "..like yours? You have a point Ray.." she said and squinted a bit, lowering her sunglasses to look at Ray's ear more detailed. "...you dont think youre turning into a bat too, do you?" she said slowly. It was begining to sound right- if Moreau stuck her in a cave since she was turning into a bat, and Ray had some resemblence to one, then it would only make since that hed stick another bat in a cave. That is, if he was doing this to everyone. Surely he wasnt.. right? Quote: Rayanya nodded her head and looked a little sullen, putting her hand under her armpit and feeling the flap of skin that had started to develop there. "And I have the skin... I guess... I guess they could be turning into wings..." She stuck both hands under her armpits now, and looked at the ground. "So... any idea where we are?" Quote: Hargun looked at Ray sadly. She looked pretty down about changing into a bat, though who wouldnt dislike loosing their arms and their normal looks? She shook her head and glanced around the area outside. "I have NO idea whatsoever but I doubt we're close to the village. And I have no idea how much jungle is between here and the beaches." sighing she crossed her arms and continued to try and think. Quote: Rayanya sighed as well, looking around. They could easily be lost in the middle of nowhere. She finally looked skywards. "Well, if you know what section of the Island the mountains are in, then we can at least use that to determine." Ray let out an irritated sigh and sat down on a rock outside the cave's entrance. "I haven't smoked since I left the city... but I would kill for a cigarette about now." Quote: "Hmm.. not really. I dont even know what side of the mountain we're on." she said and watched Ray sit. She couldnt help but chuckle. "I bet thats hard.. Ive never smoked but Ive seen people go through withdrawals." she paced a bit, holding a hand to her chin. "Its also getting dark out, and we have no food. Or.. at least any -real- food. Dont get grossed out but.. I can live off bugs if we starve." she said and laughed. "I dont know what you could eat. You said you had the desire for.. fruits right?" Quote: Rayanya sulked at her rock. She didn't know what side they were on either. Oh, why had she remained locked up in her room so much? Why hadn't she spent more time exploring the island? Maybe then they could get out of this mess easier. "Ugh," Ray said, "bugs. I'm so sorry, that's got to suck." She made a face, then rested her chin on the palm of her hand. "Yeah. Fruits. Especially melons."

Almost as if your earlier words were a jinx, as you are exiting the cave and talking - you can see the setting sun. Almost as if timed with your abrupt exit to the cave, an explosion of bats from deep within the cave system (perhaps a different branch than the ones you had been in) surge from the depths through the tunnel that leads to the exit.
Additionally... Hargun - you could almost swear that before they surged forward, you heard something high-pitched. Maybe it was just the screaching of the bats deep in the cave when they awoke, however. Regardless, as they are flying past you, you can hear them quite well - it's almost disorienting, their screaming and screaching - so high pitched but somewhere deep down it clicks with a desire for freedom - to fly...
((If you have already moved on past this point, then you may ignore this and I can delete this. If not - leave it. Bats are one of the mammals of the carribbean that didn't have a problem making it to the islands))

Timothy walked through the duplees again after he'd just recently dropped by the cafeteria for food. Filled and content he'd strummed on his guitar for a while. But something seemed off, he really turned to think about everything that had brought him here. Despite destroying his dreams of his future he wasn't totally unhappy here.
That didn't make him happy here either, but that was expected, Timothy rarely was all that happy. Excitable, whiney, angsty, lustful, these were emotions he was good at. True happiness though, escaped him, most of the time anyway.
Thinking back on everything that'd brought him here his mind dwelled back to Hargun. The artist girl that he'd shown up with, they'd both gotten kind of screwed in the deal. He stopped playing his guitar and set it down. Putting on some black clothing he slipped out of his duplex and walked over to hers.
He hoped she was alright, some islanders seemed to have gone missing for some time, especially after what happened with the whole lockout thing. He wrapped on the door three times lightly.
