Bio: Vivian is from an alternate timeline, a timeline where she was supposed to lead the people in a great revolt against the establishment, unfortunately she was discovered before she knew her destiny and was sent to our timeline.
To ensure she wouldn't be able to return, her hands were removed at the wrist and replaced with mechanical substitutes. Like Elizabeth from Bioshock Infinite, Vivian can see tears that lead to alternate timelines but because of the condition of her hands she is unable to open them.
Vivian doesn't know why any of this was done to her, and is very guarded and reserved, fearing that something worse could happen to her. She is uncomfortable about the appearance of her hands and wears gloves constantly.

Bio: Once a mortal, Fate (Although that's not his real name) was born or cursed depending upon your point of view to his elevated position. His mother was a retired goddess, his father one of her demi-gods. They'd left their immortal lives behind to start and raise a family not knowing they'd unknowingly cursed their son to the same fate as theirs.
When he turned eleven, Fate was taken from his family to begin his training. He learned to read the threads of mortal life and how to influence them subtly. When he turned 18 he was allowed to fully take over his position and operate on his own. Luckily he wasn't entirely on his own as the position came with three enchanted "spiders" to help him mind the Tapestry of Life, Clotho (yellow and gray), Lachesis (brown), and Atropos (gray). He was eventually joined by Luck, the de facto consort to his position. The two had a rough start, but eventually, once she realized he hadn't manipulated her into the position, became lovers and partners. Together they try to improve mortal lives in small ways.
The floating lights aren't real fireflies, but orbs of luck, a gift from his beloved.
