ButtonFly Hmm, as far as I can tell it sounds like Twents (spoken in Drenthe, on the east-side), but it could also be Gronings (North-east)... Not sure, though. Oh. *suddenly feels very small* I hope I didn't offend anybody by saying what I did... -.-''

Odin Leonhart Its not a popular language isnt it...? (Het is ook af en toe verdomd moeilijk) Mwah, volgens mij valt het wel mee. Enigste dialecten waar ik af en toe moeite mee heb zijn Fries en Gronings. Fries omdat ze zo'n beetje een eigen taal hebben, en gronings omdat ze delen van de woorden inslikken. Haha, maar de rest valt toch wel mee??

My native language is also Dutch, I live in Belgium. So if anybody needs help, feel free to ask. Translating from English, French or German to Dutch should not be a problem. I also speak a Flemish dialect: West-Flemish.

But my parents teached my english already at the age of 3,2 confused
They were planning on moving to Ireland, but never went...

Odin Leonhart Its not a popular language isnt it...? Heh it's more popular than danish and I learned that i'm very distantly dutch. (Less than 1%) I like this language and I plan on learning it later though.

What is it that you like in the Dutch language? Why did you want to learn it?
I am always curious for that kinda stuff. It's the same like, 'Why do you want to move from America to the Netherlands to work here?' <- a friend of a friend did that, and I just wonder why. What makes the Netherlands better?

I'm trying to pick up a bit of Dutch, but have had a very hard time finding books and materials to use. Fortunately, there's a lot of simmilarity between Dutch and German (which I've studied a bit), so I can at least understand bits and pieces.

ButtonFly What makes the Netherlands better? Um...weed's legal there? I dunno. That's the only possible thing I can come up with. I'm just interested in learning it because it's part of my heritage (as are German and Spanish). @lili: Google it. You'll find what you're looking for, trust me. This site is good for learning pronunciation (as long as you can play MP3 files); this site will help with anything else, like grammar, basic phrases and the like. And if you're willing to invest a little bit of your time, you can sign up at LiveMocha for some lessons.

I guess not many members know about this forum. I'm a regular in the "Anyone from the Netherlands" forum in the "international forums' directory.
but I'll try to visit this one more often.
Anyway, ik wou dat ik ergens anders was als Nederland. Het is hier zo deprimerend in de winter, altijd grijs en grouw. zucht.. ik wil op vakantie!
Vraag: wat maakt Nederland een aantrekkelijk land om te wonen? (ik weet het namelijk niet)
