"Damn!" Alaric said, ignoring the princess momentarily to pull his blade from his back, looking at the window as he recognized the voice. Where was he? Alaric couldn't tell, but he had to be nearby... The voice sounded like it was right outside the window.

"Princess, go through the kitchen hall from the tower, get to the throne room. Grab some guardsman. Just keep them close to you, alright? Now go!"

He went into a battle stance, walking to the window a few steps, though not quite daring to look out. He was at a severe disadvantage here... He hoped he could still best this stranger...

"Yeah, I'm aware that they're inept. Blame their training instructor. If he actually cared about his job, then you might have encountered some resistance..." he said, keeping his blade out, though lowering it. He wasn't fully trusting of the stranger yet.

"So if you aren't here for a fight, then why are you here...?" Alaric said, with some amount of suspicion in his voice...

"As kind-hearted as the offer is, you know the king isn't exactly a kind-hearted person... You'll probably executed on sight, just for being the race you are. I'm not saying I agree with it, but you know that's what will happen," Alaric said in a serious tone. Had the being not seen what sorts of things were done to his kind? He wondered if he really was that oblivious.

He stood, finding himself relaxed now as he waited for the response...

"It's always kill first and ask questions later, you know..." Alaric said with a sigh. He wondered if the being's intentions were genuine. Would he really hold off on his so-called 'revenge?' Did he have nothing to worry about? Alaric wasn't sure.

He sighed again, noticing how quiet the princess had been. He wondered if she had an opinion here...

"Hey, if you can find a way to help with the recruits without getting yourself a funeral, then be my guest. I'm just saying, for the sake of living, it isn't exactly the best of ideas on your part..." he said, casually and somewhat sarcastically. He was trying to figure out a better way to put his offer to use, something that would keep everyone alive in this situation...

"Dog ea... Holy, where did those come from?!" Alaric said in sudden astonishment.

Again, attentiveness was not his strong point.

The only reason he recognized the being as one of the "strange" race was because of his face and his mannerisms, but it took him a while to notice the ears. Then again, he had lived with his type for quite a long while, so he had probably become so accustomed to things like that that he didn't even notice.

"Eh, sorry," he said, realizing he had probably seemed a little odd with that statement, "Not very good at noticing obvious things, you see..."

"Yeah, unfortunately, I think I'm in the minority there. Well, there should be a hat around here somewhere, or maybe I could fetch you a helm from the armory, no pun intended..." Alaric said, thinking of the best possible way to go about this...
