((*Bounces*)) Bhaskar awoke and yawned. He was up on his big boulder. He stood and walked to a lower area of the boulder, to get down to the ground, stretching each of his legs as he walked. Hopping down, he looked around at the other lions and lionesses, and yawned again.

(( gonk Making/eating dinner - sorry))
Rahima lay by her own rock; it seemed the various big cats of the crater had each claimed one for their own retreat. Stretched in the shade, she idled away the time by watching the prey animals move in the distance. Her red pelt was pretty good camoflage against the ruddy stone.

Bhaskar padded by and sort of sat in her way, not having seen her. He flumped down on the dirt and watched the prey moving while washing his face.

Rahima let a low growl rumble forth - the lionness' equivilent of a polite, pointed cough. Getting to her paws, she padded over to sit next to him. Well, if you're going to block my view, I'm going to share yours!
"Afternoon, Lord Bhaskar" The nickname came naturally, in a friendly way, not mocking.

Bhaskar looked down at Rahimas' feet, then glanced up at her face and back out at the prey moving. "Good day, Lady Rahima" he smiled a little to himself at having some company "How are you feeling today?" she must be tired, he figured, after birthing cubs...

"Better than before." She'd been so tired and tense a week or two ago; earthquakes and giving birth did that to a lionness. The red one was in good spirits. It was nice being in a group, and having some one to talk to, for now. "And how are you?"

The tip of his tail flipped over behind him. He was bored, that's what.. bored with nothing to do in life.. only this little mini-pride here was what he had, and he didn't feel like anyone really actually led the group..
"I'm alright. I like having the cubs around.. they're so tiny, and so playful.. " he watched a shadow of a bird near his feet. He didn't really know what to do with the cubs, and one had nibbled on his ear while he took a nap the other day.. Bhaskar had almost swiped the little guy away. Maybe Rahima could give him a pointer or two.. there were so many cubs in the area.. he didn't want to hurt one.

"Yes...I might take to wandering again, once my two are big enough. There's so much out there they need to see." Rahima too had noticed the lack of...commitment? Stability? Structure, that was, it, in this group. And besides, she liked to travel. Living in only the crater forever would be odd.
"What are you're plans? Are you going to stay with Kitwana and the others, or...?"

Bhaskar would've shrugged if lions could "I'm not sure, really.." he turned his maned head around and peered back at the others scattered around "it's hard to know what to do.. I mean.. I like all of you guys" he looked at Rahima.. it was easier than straining his neck back "but I mean.. no one here is really.. family, or anything like that.. I don't have a mate here.. or cubs.. " what should he do? Nothing was tying him down here.. as much as he may have liked "And.. the crater is big.. maybe in a while, I'll venture around the place.. "

"Maybe...after a while...this group might become a pride and feel like a family." With a little lithe stretch and a soft sigh, she lay down again. It would save both their necks the strain of looking up and down all the time to talk.
"I like everyone alright, I guess. Laini and you are the only one's I know at all though, to tell the truth. And my three little ones, of course."

Bhaskar nodded and flopped down to see her easier. "I know them.. sort of... " he looked past Rahima for a moment, then back at her "I think I know you and Laini best, I mean.. I feel most.. protective with you two.." if lions could only blush "I mean, I saw you two first.."

"I know, as does Laini, I think. It's been most appreciated..." She reached out to nuzzle his nearest shoulder, in her usual show of affection. Turning her gaze back the the herds she was getting to know, she frowned. "Do you think the two zebra kings are about to fight again? I never knew any two to be so quarellsome before."
And attempt to change the subject? Perhaps.

Bhaskar blinked at his paws. Affection? This was new. Humm.. he didn't know what to do.. other than go along with the change of subject. He swallowed and looked up at the zebras, then grinned "Heh.. I'm not sure, but it's been bugging me, seeing them do it so much.. I've had half a mind to go take one down, just to stop the fights.."

"I suppose that's what us preditors are here for; to keep balance amoung the prey, because the gods can't be everywhere."
Her mottos ran through her mind; take the weak, the sickly, the old, never the leader if you can and never a mother if you're leaving the young - unless you've no choice. She turned to smile at him. "If you ever do, I could help. I think the more black-than-white one is the trouble maker. The more white-than-black ones' nice to speak to, as well."
