{{I'll be controlling the spawn. ;o And don't worry, I gave permission to Earthcraft to control the spawn.}}
"Hey now..." Blade walked over to the little girl, sitting down on her ankles and smiled warmly. Was someone burning something...? "Ferriles aren't mean. And besides, if they had wanted to hurt you then they would ha-"
"Fire spawn!"
Blade immediately jumped up, whipping her head to where Seraphis was looking. She reached into her shadow, summoning her sword from the darkness. She grabbed it and brought it forward, holding it with one hand while she grabbed the little girl and dragged her into the center of the group. "Don't move!" Blade commanded, not even sparing a glance for the youth. If the little girl ran off... well, to say at the least the fire spawn might chase after her.
"Aim for the nos-!"
Its prey had almost been taken, right within its reach... it let out a soft, low growl and leaned down as it got ready to leap down as its targets and rip them to shreds. But then one of its victims turned its head and spotted it, yelling something out. With a snarl and a snort of fire from its nostrils it charged forward, howling loudly. The fire spawn's claws extended and bared its teeth, roaring as fire poured out from the corners of its mouth and set the nearby trees on fire.
s**t, s**t, s**t! Blade hadn't been counting on THIS to happen! It was still too early for her to begin using her shadow powers. Even if she could use them she couldn't use them against this spawn. Swearing underneath her breath Blade muttered something underneath her breath and fire erupted from the earth floor. The fire spawn paused, only for a second, and then jumped strait up over the fire. It landed on the road and then took in a deep breath and released it, shooting out fire. Blade ripped her cloak off, revealing her skin-tight one-piece outfit, and then ran to where the fire was coming in. She skidded to a stop and brought her hand up, her hair lifting up as heat swirled around her and shot out as fire. Both of the flames crashed together, swirling and snarling as the fire fought for dominance. Then the spawn suddenly appeared through the flames, making Blade blink and instantly turn her magic off. She brought her sword up and would have made an attack if movement out of the corner of her eye hadn't distracted her. There was the little girl, running away. In the split second that Blade saw those glazed white eyes flicker over to the new opportunity of prey she bolted over, grabbing the small girls arm and yanking her back. Just as Blade's arm wrapped around the screaming girl's stomach she turned her head in time to see a mutated paw came at her. Blade pulled the girl closer to her stomach, curling herself to form a shield and then threw her sword at the spawn. The sword flew through the air just as the paw smashed into her side, making her scream in pain as she felt heat scorch into her veins. Claws shredded the skin on her back and she was sent flying, barely able to keep the girl in her arms.
Blade hit the ground, hard. Her head was nailed with pain and for a few seconds she was completely disoriented. Once the pain subsided she blinked, her vision returning in a wave of white and black spots and her head spinning. Through her swirling vision the girl she'd grabbed was already running away, somewhere. Thankfully the spawn was too far... or so she hoped....
Blade gritted her teeth and slowly got up, growling as pain erupted from her back. She reached into her shadow and pulled another sword out, pushing herself up to her feet. She wiped her forehead, which was dripping with blood, and looked around as she tried to figure out where the hell she was. Her head was hurting and her vision kept on tunneling to the point that she couldn't tell if she was on the road or in the trees.
"Feritae! To the left!"
A soft, familiar voice entered her mind and she looked to where it had directed her. Through the trees she could see the light erupting from the fire spawn's flames. With a deep breath Blade ran forward, making sure to thank her invisible friend later.
It had aimed for the small thing that had suddenly taken off, only to get two in one. Its target went flying strait through the trees, although neither of them had taught fire as the spawn had intended. The sword that had been thrown only just barely grazed its side and with a prompt kick the sword was knocked far down the road. With a growl it jumped up into the air, paws blazing, and crashed into the ground; sending fire and dirt everywhere while it howling at the top of its lungs. Then it shot forward, legs jumping and eyes wide as its mouth hung open to lets its tongue out. It could already smell the burning flesh, feel the warmth of the smoke rising....

It was a sight he would never forget. He stood there, from a tree branch staring at...whatever the hell it was...while one of them suddenly shouted out "FIRE SPAWN" and everything went crazy.
He continued to watch, a dead bird hanging loosely in his hand (he had taken the mother too, it was starting to annoy him after he pocketed the eggs) as the lady who had defeated one of his bandits protectively grab the little girl -He hadn't noticed her before, where the hell she come from?- while pulling out a sword...from her shadow?
"Its a magic thing" he told himself.
He winced as he watched her go flying through the air when the...spawn (?) smashed her in her side with its paw. The little girl took off, breaking free from her, with the spawn chasing after her.
"Oh ********, ********, ********." She was running to the section of the forest HE was in.
"Think Falconer think" he told himself. "Its a crazy as hell, burning creature that looks like its fallen out of an ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down..."
He snapped his fingers.
"If one could distract it long enough for someone else to cripple it or freeze it, those guys could totally kill it with their crazy magic and fighting skills...One of them should know a freezing spell or something..."
He threw the dead bird down at the passing fire spawn, causing the corpse to sizzle instantly, filling the air with the smell of burning bird flesh. Cupping his hands around his mouth to amplify to voice, he bellowed down at it.
"HEY UGLY! OVER HERE!"
No...that wasn't enough, this thing as like a hunger-crazed manic now...he needed something that would really get its attention.
"OI MOTHER F-"
The rest of his sentence contained several swear words, and other random animalistic noises while he made several rude hand signals at it, ranging from a simple extended finger to a creepy snipping motion.

"Fire Spawn!"
Swearing under her breath, Silver whirled around, drawing both her blades in one smooth motion. Moving a few steps forward, she anchored herself, watching the fight between the spawn and Blade with careful attention. Fire... It had to be fire... she mentally grumbled, the heat the creature produced already making her white shirt stick to her back under her tunic. Raised on a mountain, she had never really learned to deal with warm weather. She always made sure it was relatively cool everywhere she traveled. Now, she was regretting not learning to deal with warmer temperatures. As it was now, she turned her head to the side and raised her swords in a defensive cross-block to defend her flesh from the dirt and flames the hound-like creature sent through the air. Once the flying debree (sp?) had stopped, she raised her head again only for her eyes to widen. The spawn was heading towards her and the others, thanks to that cracked thief shouting from the woods behind her! Anchoring her leg more firmly, she adjusted her swords; the attack blade was in front, prepared to slash at the beast or easily move into a block, while the defense sword crossed her body, prepared to back up the attack blade whether it be in a block or as a second strike. "Doina, Seraphis, move somewhere behind me then start casting water spells or the like at it," she said firmly. "I'll try and keep it from attacking you directly..." And if I fail and end up unable to continue fighting, I'll summon the spirit to help you... she silently promised.

Seraphis didn't hesitate for a moment. He quickly jumped behind Silver and took up position behind her left side. He already had a spell upon his lips as he extended his hands and said to Silver, "Get ready. Its not going to like this one bit." Then, his voice laden with concern, he added, "Please be careful." With that, he immediately set his hands to work on a series of gestures, necessary for the casting of this particular spell, the Shardstorm. He could feel the arcane energies flowing through his body, twisting and swirling and extending outward through his hands. The energy began to grow between his hands, glowing with a pale, icy blue light. Then he locked his arms, extending them out in front of himself with the palms of his hands facing outward.
"Kathas dist lithsan!" Seraphis exclaimed, completing the incantation. Immediately, the energy collapsed upon its self and thousands of tiny razor sharp shards of ice violently sprayed forward toward the Fire Spawn. Following the casting, Seraphis slumped slightly, feeling the typical drain on his stamina that spell casting caused. It was nothing new to him. He had undergone some strength training for just this reason, so he could cast longer. While he was not very strong, as long as he didn't have to cast anything huge, he would most likely last through the fight... He hoped. In that moment, the Fire Spawn seemed a bit larger to him than before...

Chi had finally gotten into range to actually hear what the group was saying to the sniffling girl. She was only a couple miles from them since she had moved pretty quickly and the group of cats had, undoubtedly followed. Sighing gently, her large ears perked up to see if she could hear any thing important going on. Hrmm there are around…or at least five not counting the girl. One… she sniffed the air is a human the other her pink nose crinkled as she thought two I can’t distinguish…maybe human maybe elf… and one is definitely an elf. Sitting down on a branch she listened to the snips of conversation that she could hear.
“There’s a Ferriles over there!” the little girl cried. A harsh response came back though she could only make out the part about how screaming had possibly hurt her ears. At the thought her ears twitched and she once again became attentive to the conversation. She heard a sweeter voice this time, sounded like she could possibly be a good singer though as far as she was concerned lots of people could be singers but probably weren’t. Sighing Chi gave a wry smile. The group sounded as if they had never seen a Ferriles before. Well she didn’t grace anybody with her presence for no good reason and why bother when there was no good reason to go bounding in.
Chi stood up to get ready to leave when she heard someone shout something very alarming. “Fire spawn!” The words echoed in her ears and she covered them to prevent them from hurting but only for a split second. In a few precious moments she realized that these people could be in trouble, or they could be defenseless and well she wasn’t one to let spawn get away with trying to kill people. Narrowing her eyes she listened carefully and tried to hear where the conversation and confusion was coming from. Unable to determine the direction she decided to go where her gut told her, which was due north. Looking down at the group of cats she sighed “ Better not follow, unless you want to get killed that is” and with that she was running through the trees faster than before since she was using all four of her powerful limbs. Gaining speed she could hear the shouts becoming louder and she could smell….burning? She supposed that a fire spawn would smell like that but she had never actually come face to face with one before. Only books told of the great horrors that these spawn could do. As she came closer she felt like she was inhaling a large screen of smoke which burned her nostrils masking all other scents except magic. The scent of magic tickled her nose and she was beginning to feel a sneeze coming on. Shaking her head to prevent this, stopped running to see if she could hear any thing that might clue her in to where their exact location was. Looking around frantically she finally saw a large mound of pure black smoke pour into the sky. Figuring that it was probably there, she headed for the location as fast as she could.
Upon drawing closer soot rooted itself firmly in her nose and fur. The small particles clinging for dear life as she ran to see what she could do though most likely nothing since she was not skill in magic and these spawn probably were. Catching the sight of the little girl she had spotted earlier she noticed that the spawn (who’s attention had previously been on what appeared to be a human warrior) turned toward the girl. Panicking she was about to jump down and try to help when everything happened in a split second. The warrior grabbed the girl and tucked her into her stomach as if she were forming a shield around her. The large spawn took its monstrous paw and slashed the warrior and in that instant she let out a blood curdling scream. Chi covered her ears as best she could but the scream still penetrated though her thick paws. Becoming disoriented Chi lost her balance on the branch that she was standing on. Slipping backwards she fell to the ground, her body orienting itself so that she could land on her feet but unfortunately her hands were busy covering her ears. Hitting the ground landing on her ribs and stomach she let out a yowl in pain and the cats that had been following her jumped out of the bushes. Each of the cats started to lick the soot from her fur and rubbed up against her to see if that would ease her pain. After a couple of minuets writhing on the ground hissing and yowling she finally sat straight up. “Guys stop licking me! I’m not that dirty and your rubbing doesn’t really help.” Folding her arms she watched the cats form a circle around her.
Looking around she suddenly realized that she was in the middle of a fight and she immediately stood up and put her paw on her bow as if she were going to draw it. “Fire spawn. . .” she hissed through her sharp teeth. “ I will do everything in my power to stop you from hurting any one else.” Looking around Chi saw that there were various warriors around here. She supposed they looked experienced but then again they all had tinges of fear in their eyes but in the face of a spawn she would assume that even the bravest warrior would start to doubt himself. Slowly pulling her bow out she was about to jump back into a tree for more cover when she smelt something. The smell was light and carried through the air from the cluster of warriors that the spawn was looking at. Crossing her eyes she looked at her soot covered nose. Blinking she thought for a moment, uncrossed her eyes, and finally knew the scent, it was magic. Rubbing her nose vigorously she tried not to sneeze but the man behind the girl cast a spell and the air was swarmed with magic and on top of that soot. Chi started to sneeze and didn’t stop for a good minuet. Regaining her composer she realized that she was still in the middle of a battle and jumped backwards into the tree. In a low hissing voice she said “Your soot and magic may be messing with my sense of smell” a wry smile showing her sharp teeth came onto her face “But my eyesight is still as good as ever.” Taking her bow off of her back, stringing an arrow, drawing back the string slowly and aiming it in the direction of the spawn she waited for some kind of opportunity or a possible weak spot that she could hit to help in some way, figuring that this thing would probably burn her arrow up the minuet it touched its flesh and that magic would probably be doing better. To bad she didn’t know any. Narrowing her green eyes she stood and waited.

It all happened so fast. Blade had warned her that traveling with them would be dangerous, that spawn hunting was no joke. But she hadn’t thought they come across one so soon. They had only left the town maybe an hour ago, not even halfway to the mountains where they had planned to take on the Wind spawn. But instead they came across the Fire Spawn.
At Seraphis yell she looked in the direction of the beast and her eyes widened. It was horrible, all the stories of what the creature looked like didn’t prepare her for actually seeing it. It’s horrifying appearance was only matched by its smell, the air was thick with sulfur and brimstone, her eyes were burning and she felt her throat start to constrict. Even though she told her mind to move her limbs were sluggish. She cursed her sudden cowardice. She wanted to help but she was only a healer. She had almost no offense power and right at this moment she would only cause problems for everyone.
All she could do was watch Blade as she summoned her powers, producing flames and summoning her sword. Blade battled with the beast for a moment, getting injured when she protected the little girl. The Fire spawn’s claw marks stood out to her, as if they were glowing a burning hot red. Her voice cracked as she tried to call out to Blade, but it was good that barely a sound came, for it would have done nothing but worsen the situation.
She turned her head as she heard the thief from before yell out things to the spawn. Even he was trying to help, even though it might not have done any good. She shut her eyes and turned away as the Fire spawn spew fire and debris everywhere. The flames were so hot, her skin prickled and a layer of sweat began to form over her skin. She opened her eyes a little and looked over at Silver as she called out to her and Seraphis.
In that instant Seraphis stepped forward and launched his own attack on the spawn. Calling forth a shower of icy shards down upon the beast. Everyone was doing something to help and Doina finally snapped out of it and tried to do her part. Mumbling a small incantation she summoned the only water spell she knew. It took the water from the atmosphere and combined it all into one powerful blast. It may not have been as effective as it could have been, the heat from the spawn’s attack zapping away most of the moisture. As she gathered it up she sent it towards the beast, aiming for it’s face. Before, Blade had tried to tell them where to fire, but was cut off as the spawn attacked. Thinking of the other woman she scanned the area looking for her.

Blade leaned against a tree, blinking away small droplets of blood from her eyes. She hadn't counted on being kicked out so quickly! No, she wouldn't be! Blade wiped away the rest of the blood, looking down at the forest floor. It was just barely lit up and within almost a minute it would be night. She sucked in hot air between her teeth and leaned against a tree. If she could wait just a little bit longer....
As the debris and fire flew out so did the fire spawn, claws outstretched and teeth glimmering. Then, with hardly any warning, ice shot out through the air. With a snarl the fire spawn dug its paws into the ground, skidding and then leaping off to the side. Some of the ice nailed its leg, resulting in a screech of pain. It landed and kicked its foot wildly, sending small bits of ice into the air. The fire spawn jumped again as water came flying at it, snapping and barking as some of the liquid poured on its fur. There was little in the water in the air and the dryness in the atmosphere made it easier for it to move and use its fire. It howled, the edges of of its hair glowing and beginning to glaze over with fire. The sounds coming from that thing was beginning to grate on its skull. The fire spawn twitched before suddenly changing course, running passed the ground and over to the human that needed to be eliminated.
Blade stared at the ground, biting down on the inside of her lip as she urged the sun to finally just disappear beneath the horizon. All that Blade wanted to do was chase the fire spawn off. This team was too new and they hardly knew each other- they couldn't just try and take it on! Then, by some grace of a god, the rays of light on the ground diminished. The sky was probably lit up but as long as she had enough shadow she would be good. Blade took in a deep breath of air and tapped into her shadow magic, letting tendrils of darkness slither from the black around her and wrap around her body. Then she disappeared, fading into the black like thin air.
The fire spawn had been getting closer to the teenage boy when it noticed the trees. Its ears shot up and its eyes darted to the side as a large, bizarre figure began to form through the trees. The shadowy figure pressed against the trunks and small tendrils began to reach out towards the spawn. The fire spawn growled and howled back, fire erupting from its fur. The shadows burned away like ash, the figure disappearing. The fire spawn returned its focus back to the boy and took a step forward the the shadowy figure returned, this time slinking up from the road.
"Hit!"
Blade could only hope that they could hear her, her voice coming out from the darkness like a hollowed call from the high note of a flute. The fire spawn was being distracted by both her illusion and the boy but she didn't want the fire spawn to continue dispelling her creations. Any touch of light to her shadows gave her pain and Blade didn't want to get trapped inside of the icy cold realm of darkness that she'd pushed herself into.

Silver didn't need to be told twice to attack. The palms of her hands had been cool and light on the hilts of her twin broadswords; now, their grip tightened into a well-practiced hold that few things could break. She wanted this thing gone, even if it was only temporary. She hadn't known that magic drained Seraphis or she wouldn't have asked him to work a spell that only served to anger the beast. Lunging forward, her swords became a whirl of silver as she entered what was commonly called a "pattern dance", an intricate combination of footwork and blade strikes, though in her case without the fancy footwoork. The attack blade lashed at the side of the great beast, the metal still cool despite the heat of the air around it for some unknown, the defense blade's arc not far behind it. Leaning back, she twirled the attack blade to increase its force as she finished the strike with the defense blade. Once it was out of the way, she brought forth her attack blade once more, this time throwing her weight into the slice even as she followed by pressing the defense blade against it like she would in a cross defense. That, combined with the momentum she had built up before attacking, had broken more elven swords then she cared to count in duels with much stronger and fully-able male elves. Silver could only hope that it would cause some harm to the fire spawn.

As Seraphis watched Silver move in for an attack, feelings of worry and dread began to rise within him. He couldn't find it within him to let her face this beast alone. He quickly decided to supplement her attack with a barrage of his own magic, hoping to inspire some confusion within the creature and increase all of their chances of coming out of this relatively unscathed. He performed a quick series of gestures followed by the words, "Idmar katoras ignus." His body began to shimmer and take on a slight reddish glow as the magical fire resistant shield surrounded him. He took a deep breath as he felt another hit to his stamina.
No time to relax now. Quickly, Seraphis sprinted around to the side of the spawn as Silver began her attack, keeping a good distance away. As he gestured again, the pale blue energy that signified an ice spell once again began to form between his hands. He extended the gesture drawing out more of his energy. The ray of frost was not a powerful spell by any means, however, he intended to extend the duration by extending the gesture and adding a key word to his incant so he could fire off several without having to repeat the ritual. He knew that this would significantly drain his energies, but he hoped it would serve to distract the spawn and allow Silver to make more significant hits.
"Tirak lithsan odak!" Seraphis shouted after he finished with his gestures. His arm shot forward and out of his palm came a concentrated ray of frost, aimed directly at the Fire Spawn. Taking great care not to hit Silver, he began to pump his arms, firing carefully aimed bursts of the ray one after another. When the spell had run its full course, Seraphis fell to his hands and knees breathing raggedly. He would still be able to react to the situations that the battle threw at him, albeit, not as quickly as normal, but he was done casting for the moment and was in sore need of rest. He only hoped that he made enough of a difference for them to succeed.

Standing on the tree branch with her bow drawn back, Chi looked at the scene transpire. It appeared that the beast was heading for that group of three people, one female in front one in back and another male behind the female. Curiously the male had been shouting some kind of incantation in some other language and sending spells in the direction of the fire spawn but he did appear to be loosing strength and fast. Only pondering the reason for a moment she let her eyes drift back to the fire spawn. She had never actually seen one before but had definitely seen the damage it had left behind. Thick scars in the earth that scorched rock and practically melted it in the shape of claw marks left outside of her village once. It wasn’t too alarming to her at the time but her master had been on the lookout for something after that. She supposed it would make sense seeing as how it had huge powerful paws that were probably hotter than coals from a fire. Looking at its bulky for she figured it was pretty slow but definitely not something to trifle with. It was probably very powerful and on top of that its aura looked like a big flame. It looked like the most vulnerable place to shoot would be its face or underbelly, neither of which was facing her. She also supposed her arrow would burn up before it could ever reach the thing but maybe it would draw attention away from the group.
Tightening her grip on the string she sighed. “Well here goes nothing…” she mumbled and let the arrow fly. It sailed through the air making a small whistling sound that would only be apparent if you listened for it. Approaching the beast and fast she hoped that it wouldn’t burn up or if it did at least the beast would be distracted for a while. She really hated to see people die it wasn’t exactly a fun experience. Taking out three more arrows she strung each one into her bow and aimed it at the beast once more. She supposed that the spawn was well armored or at least it had enough fat to prevent that part of its body. Pulling back the string on the bow she aimed to send three more arrows flying to hit the spawn along its back. Hoping that this would so something she narrowed her eyes a bit her lip slightly out of concentration. Letting go of the string she watched as the arrows flew through the air towards the spawn making the same whistling noise she closed her eyes temporarily out of fear that she may have missed or it may move and hit someone else.

A couple things happened at once. A girl ran through the group screaming and when caught by Silver, who questioned the child rather harshly, revealed that she had seen a Ferriles. To be fair, Elves had extremely sensitive ears. The extreme volume and following shockwave had once caused an elf in one of Grenth’s old spawnhunting groups to cry and fall to the ground. The man had described it as feeling like someone was setting fire to the inside of his ears. That, of course, had been a very large and spawn-related explosion that produced a shockwave strong enough to catch Grenth mid-teleport and send him flying through the air. An explosion caused by the spawn that had just decided to show up.
“Fire Spawn!”
The first thing that came to mind was the child, and getting her to safety. Blade was nearest to the child, and took her to the center of the group where she would be safest. He would have teleported the girl away, but he had no idea where she came from, and he didn’t want to strand a child in unfamiliar territory. He then turned to get a good look at the spawn. Flaming claws, enormous dripping fangs, general scariness… the damn thing hadn’t changed. Grenth didn’t notice his left hand rising up to trace the long scar under his shirt that now ached with memory of the horrid flaming spawn. Blade started to yell that they should aim for the nose, but was unable to get it out before the spawn prepared to attack. As always, Blade thought quickly and summoned fire from the ground. Fire, of course, wouldn’t stop the beast, but it could definitely distract it. The creature jumped over the flames and released its own blast fire, directed at the group. Blade, fearless as she was, sent out more fire to clash with the spawn’s, effectively blocking the attack. For a moment the flames fought but the fire spawn gave up and jumped through. At that moment, the little girl started running. He saw Blade grab the girl only a few seconds before the beast smashed the woman with a paw, sending her and the child flying into the trees.
That, for now, effectively put Blade out of the fight. He didn’t see her coming out and assumed she was knocked out or something. Unless she was unlucky enough get impaled on a branch or something like that, the hit wasn’t strong enough to kill her.
Suddenly, the thief they met earlier popped out of nowhere and started throwing what looked like dead birds at the spawn. Kid was going to get himself killed if he kept that up. The group wasn’t ready to take on a spawn. They didn’t know each other well enough. They couldn’t work as a team, and that was the only way to kill a spawn as wild and unpredictable as the fire spawn. This was something he knew too well. Silver had her swords out and was ready for battle while, behind her, Doina and Seraphis were casting water and ice spells. Even the ferriles had showed up to fight the beast, though from a safer distance. Blade was even using her shadow powers, which concerned him, as they had bad side effects.
The Spawn was distracted and everyone was doing their part, so why wasn’t he? Aim for the nose.
Grenth unsheathed his long sword; the kukris wouldn’t be too much help here, and ran at the nearest tree. Like before, he jumped and bounced off the tree to gain momentum and height. This time, though, he made sure he was moving forward and not straight up. If he came straight down on the Spawn, he’d land directly in front of the mouth and probably be burnt to a crisp. Instead, he teleported a few times to gain speed and then teleported directly beside the fire spawn, only inches from its face. He angled his sword down to slice the front of the spawn’s nose as Grenth flew by, barely able to see anything at the speed he was going. Grenth landed hard a few feet from the spawn and had to roll to prevent his legs from breaking. He couldn’t tell whether he got the nose or not.

The fire spawn snarled at the shadow being came closer, fire shooting out once more. The shadow being was dismissed once more, and in that moment it felt something move against its legs. It jumped back, ignoring the scrape. And then: ice. The spawn released a high-pitched screech, wiping around and knocking aside the ice spells that continued to come at it. It again knocked away an arrow that came at its way, snarling furiously while it tried to shake the ice off. The ice melted within moments and the spawn returned its attention to the sorcerer that had just casted multiple frost spells at it. The fire spawn lunged forward at the man just in time to receive a cut on the nose. Fire shot out and it howled, rearing up and snapping out viciously. It screeched once more before shooting off into the trees, leaving nothing but a streak of light in its wake.
Oh, tha-thank... thank anything! The shadows seemed to quiver as the fire spawn left, which in reality was Blade giving out a sigh of relief. 'That... that was a miracle.'
Blade slowly let go of her shadows, recollecting herself in some area beside a tree. The part of shadow in which she was gathering herself seemed to only grow a bit darker until a lump formed. The lump then stretched up, dripping up the tree until it formed the silhouette of a female human. Then it puffed out, forming the entire shape of Blade's body sitting against a tree with her head hung over. Finally the shadows fell off of her, like silently snapping threads, fading away in small clips of smoke. Some of the shadow clung to her and fed on the blood that was slowly trickling down her forehead and back. It took her a few moments but her eyes opened, pupils fully dilated, although she appeared to be sleeping with her eyes open. Seconds passed by and her irises stretched and contracted. When they stopped she blinked, lifting her head up and brushing off any remaining bits of shadow that tried to remain on her.
With a deep breath she pushed herself up, turning her head to spot her teammates just a few feet away from her. "Doina! Seraphis, Silver... oh, bloody all of you!" Blade lifted her arms up and waved them, laughing loudly. "You're all alive..." she looked over to spot Grenth and that irritating bandit and could also sense a heat presence in the trees. "An angel must be smiling on us all... I can't believe no one died." But, wait a second... she turned around, frowning as she realized that her original teammate was lacking from their party. Ebon! But now that she thought about it... where the hell had he been this entire time? 'At least it means he didn't go missing in action.' She leaned over, pressing a hand against her cleavage. There were no words that could explain how incredibly fortunate they were at the moment. Spawn destroyed entire settlements and could do devastating damage to entire cities. And, in a few cases such as the light and earth spawn, parts of whole kingdoms. And here they were, a bunch of bastards with swords and they'd been able to scare off the fire spawn without anyone dieing? And they'd just met...! "I could kiss you all!"
Blade sighed and sat down heavily, her vision blurring up and her head going light. She leaned over and felt small tendrils of black wrapping around her body, trying to drag her into the black. Next time she saw that little girl Blade was going to spank the hell outta her. She'd almost died and it had been because that girl had gone off and bolted! But she was young, so Blade supposed that it couldn't be helped. Still, if it hadn't been for her then she wouldn't be injured like this.
"I don't think that its going to come back." Blade stated, rubbing the back of her neck before looking up at the others. She knew that she needed to stand up soon but the lack of blood in her system was causing some sort of lack of communication between her mind and her legs. "And the shadow spawn won't come here, so we could... stay here...." The black tugged harder and her vision blurred up again, briefly going off in small dark specks. Blade lifted a hand up, her arm dripping with black matter. "Could someone... help me up? I don't exactly feel like being possessed or something of the likes."

He collapsed against the trunk of the tree, rubbing his throat. All that yelling nearly made him lose his voice.
They had really started to make him worry, what with all their random attacks and lack of team work. Why it was almost as if they were a new party starting out and they hadn't come up with any team battle attacks or cool unisons yet! Blasphemy!
It was then the leader of the group began talking and laughing, out of relief no doubt at the fact they had driven off a spawn without anyone dying. He thought back to the thing running around and combusting at every moment it could and agreed, it was rather lucky they got away with no real major injuries. He briefly wondered where he could learn to spontaneously combust before the leader the leader lifted up her arm, which was dripping something...black?
"Could someone... help me up? I don't exactly feel like being possessed or something of the likes."
He stared. He actually considered whether or not he should go but decided it would have better for someone she could now and trust to help her. He wasn't exactly in any of their good books right now.
Good books? He shook his head. He didn't even now how to read, the hell was he going on about?
"And there you have it folks" he rasped out, talking to himself again. "Another reason why you shouldn't tamper with magic."
He shook his head again. He probably just insulted a bunch of the magic users in the party. Oh well.
"Question!" he shouted down while someone went over to help the leader. He really needed to learn these people's names if he was going to stalk them on this Apocalyptic quest of theirs.
"Is it okay to build a fire? I'm sure you've seen enough of it for one day already and you might not want to attract a little more attention, but it gets really cold at night, and I could use a nice hot meal right now, like a good roasted bird or deer. Maybe even some rat. Don't know about you guys, though. You live off your traveler's food, which is hardly celebration level food."
He rubbed his throat again. He shouldn't have shouted.
"Note to self," he rasped out again. "No more shouting till throat gets better. Whisper only."

It looked like he’d managed to nick the fiery canine right where it mattered. He probably wouldn’t have been able to if it wasn’t distracted, though. The beast was as fast as it was strong, and it was even faster when could concentrate on a single target. Grenth raised his sword up and examined the blade. The edge was black where it had touched the spawn, a few inches down from the point, but not truly burnt. He rubbed the dark part of the blade on his pants and when the black crap was gone, sheathed the blade. It was pretty amazing that everyone was alive and well, he thought, turning around to look at the group. The spawn could have easily snatched up one of them in its jaws before it ran off. The thing probably figured everyone was too far away.
The shadows flickered and he turned his head to watch Blade reform next to a nearby tree. It was really a bad thing that she’d used her powers to help them, because it meant she was that much closer to being destroyed by the darkness. The last time he’d seen her use those powers she ended up coughing enough blood to soak the whole front of her shirt and create a sizable puddle on the ground. Of course, she’d used her power a lot more then than she did just now. Didn’t mean it was much better, though.
Finally their leader came back to full awareness and got to her feet. She was amazed, it seemed, that they’d managed to escape the situation with their lives. He’d been surprised, yes, but not amazed. All of the people in the group, excluding the now missing Ebon, had reacted quickly and even managed to do a little bit of damage despite never having worked together. “Calm down, Blade, I don’t…” That was about when it set in. Blade sat down with a heavy sigh and thin ropes of darkness sprouted up and clung to her body. Blade weakly suggested they camp out where they were as more darkness covered her body, and Grenth sighed as he walked to her. “Come on Blade, up we go,” He said, bending down to pick her up. He didn’t know if he was stronger or she was lighter, but it was easier to carry her now than it was a year ago. “Let’s get off the main trail and little bit into the trees. I don’t like camping in the open and the trees can hide the glow of fire. And if any of you can just summon fire,” He looked at Doina, Seraphis, and Silver. “Please do it quickly. We can’t keep Blade in too much darkness right now, and I don’t trust the thief near an open flame.” Grenth carried Blade a bit into the trees, expecting the others to follow him, and shrugged his cloak off when he found a clearing. He used his foot to spread the cloak out and then gently set Blade onto it. “You can’t keep using the shadows, you know. It’s not worth weakening yourself like this.” He knelt down beside her and kept an eye out for any more strands of that dark crap that kept trying to take Blade. Bringing her into a more shadowy area probably wasn’t helping, but if they could get a fire going he was sure she’d be safe enough. Not only would the light keep the shadows away, but fire was Blade’s natural magic. He shifted into a sitting position next to Blade and thought for a moment, still carefully watching the dark areas near her.
“Three spawn in the same area. Three extremely powerful spawn. The light never attacks but there’s always a chance that it could... Doina could be right. They may well be planning something, or at least coordinating their attacks. Either way, it looks pretty bad.” If all the spawn were to ever gather in the same place and attack simultaneously, Grenth had no doubt that they could equal or possibly beat Tidal in terms of destructive power. Not all of them were big, but they were all extremely strong. The only thing that really made them less scary was that, despite their power, they could be harmed. Tidal, at full power, had destroyed whole kingdoms with ease. It was a lot harder to hurt than the spawn.

Seraphis managed to shake some of the haze from his mind and glanced around at the scene. The battle had ended. But the spawn... It ran away?
"No," Seraphis whispered to himself as he remembered the ruin brought about by Tidal. His village, family, friends and his love... It was all so much more than he could bear. His throat constricted as hot tears began to well in his eyes. Were they just to let it go?
"NO!" he shouted as he struggled to rise to his feet. All thoughts of the concerns of his party flew from him. His window of opportunity was fast closing and he would not be denied his revenge! He began to run toward the trees, attempting to give chase to the Fire Spawn. However, he only managed to run a couple yards before exhaustion took him again and he fell face first into the dirt. His tears were flowing freely now, making streams through the light layer of dirt on his cheeks.
"Come back, you cowardly mut!" Seraphis shouted, desperation clear in his voice, "You cannot escape me! I will see you dead before sunrise! I SWEAR IT!" He completed a quick series of gestures as he lay there on the ground.
"Idmar sarran Fire Spawn," he said, completing the incantation for a spell of location. He immediately got a bearing on his prey. He attempted to stand again, but the spell exacted its price as he subconsciously knew it would. The borders of his vision began to fade to black.
"No..." he said in a broken whisper, "I will not......be......denied." His vision began to dim and then fade to black all together as his exhaustion took him. Falling, again, to the ground, Seraphis Darkstar had passed out.
