Kairi looked at the girl who was obviously hurt.
"Would both of you quit worrying about who she is and more about what happened? She's hurt." She scolded the boys. Then turned to the Akiko.
"Why don't you let us help you then? You said you know where the king is right? I'm Kairi."

Sora's eyes widened. He had just proposed sending someone with the girl, and now he was getting grouped with Mr. Bad Cop? "I wasn't--" he started, flustered, "Riku was the one--"

Sora's eyes widened further as he turned bright red from embarrassment. He ignored the urge to study his shoes and met Kairi's eyes. "No; Donald always--" He realized he was making more excuses and cut himself off. "No." His eyes moved to Akiko. "Sorry about that," he said sincerely, "We usually have someone else who takes care of medical stuff. Would you like some healing? Honestly," he added, " Kairi's better at it then me or this jerk." On the last word, he shot a barbed glare at Riku.

"We know where the King is," Riku said smoothly; if he was embarrassed or flustered by Kairi's scolding or Sora's annoyance it didn't show on his face. "And we need to get to him as soon as possible. That's is part of the mission." He paused for a moment, then continued. "But I think Sora's suggestion is a good one. So now the question is which one of us should go with her?"

The pink ebbed away from Sora's cheeks, but worry flashed behind his eyes. "Are you sure, Kairi?" he asked. She was a keyblader, now; she could more than take care of herself, but the way she'd been acting lately... Well, he was uncomfortable with the idea of her taking care of not only herself but two other girls without him or Riku there to watch her back.

Akiko thought for a moment. For some reason, they didn't seem to know that she already knew about everything of their world, their journeys, their stories. When she found out that King Mickey knew, she had felt sure that that meant the whole outside world was aware. Maybe not.
Well, best not freak them out now. She'd just play dumb.
"It's fine," Akiko said, fighting the urge to smile at their banter, "really. Um...But yeah, the king gave me a staff..." She produced it from where she'd stowed it in a small, easily accessible pack hung on her shoulder. "So I can kind of defend myself. So when you're ready we can go. And...tell the King I'm sorry but I have to go find my friend."
Then she thought of something else she could do. Of course, how could she have not thought of it before? "Hold on," she said, and took out her cell phone again, this time to dial one of her other friend's numbers--Kiante, his name was. She held the phone up to her ear while assuring the others that they could continue their discussion if there was anything else to say.

Riku's gaze slid from one girl to the other, his uneasiness showing in his eyes. When he spoke, however, his tone was resigned. "She's the only one who can go. The King will want to talk to me, since he didn't get a chance last night, and he always wants to talk you you." He hesitated for another moment, even though he knew that they couldn't afford to waste any more time. "Be careful, Kairi," he said seriously. Before she could see the worry in his eyes-- it wouldn't help her, anyway-- he turned and started toward the building again, his pace brisk.

Sora glanced after Riku, then turned back to Kairi. "I know you'll kick butt," he said confidently. It felt like a lie, so he pushed on. "We'll catch up as soon as we can, if-" He glanced after Riku again; he wasn't waiting. Sora looked back at Akiko, then paused uncertainly. She had her box up by her ear, but didn't seem to be talking into it, yet; it was strange talking to her when she was half listening to someone else. "Do you know which way you'll be heading?" he asked.

Man, that felt weird, saying her name.

Sora sighed. "No, I mean so we can catch up-" He glanced over his shoulder again; Riku was almost to the building. "You know, we'll wing it," he said hurriedly, "See you guys soon!" With that he took off, speeding after the other boy.

Kairi waved goodbye to the boys and turned back to the girl.
"We can't go anywhere until after your healed. If there are heartless around, its dangerous enough without being injured. Would you mind if I...?"
