well, recorder was first [2nd grade], but i'm not sure if that really counts, so i guess violin would be first [4th] but that's not a band instrument so i guess clarinet [5th] sweatdrop in any case, that's all i['ve] play[ed]

flute then basically stopped that now i play Organ and Mallets.

Unlike a lot of people, I never played the recorder. I started my love for band [drumline, really] by playing a bit of the snare in like, fourth grade. Then my family was moving and having hard times. When I rejoined band in the fall of my sixth-grade year, I played the Alto Saxophone. Then I took up flute, because we needed someone on it... badly. I played that for about a year, then when I came into high school, I took up Tuba. Greatest thing I've ever done. d:

dang, never thought this thread would get so far.
Well, I think piano is a good choice for beginners, it basically tells you what exactly is a note and what it sounds like before you try a real instrument.

The recorder in elementary school. Alto sax in middle school, French Horn since freshman year in HS.

Let's see, Piano at first and I'm still playing it. Along with that in 4th grade, Recorder. 5th was Alto Sax, and the middle of 5th grade to now has been Clarinet. Wish I never quit Sax ;-;
