Vexacus heard a faint howl far in the distance and started moving towards it hoping that it was an ally. After about three hours he came to a road where Prince found the scent of the wolf and they followed it to a cave. "hello" Vexacus inquired "anyone here"

"You... Might want... to take out your weapons..." Marius' eyes were starting to glaze over but he kept running in pace. Inwardly, he started to curse. A vision was coming, but he needed to catch up to Avalon in time. She was about to get attacked... The Order had sent him specifically to protect her in this encounter.
"Mistress!" He called out as they reached the moving group. The pair was still far off but they could see the group.

He called out as they reached the moving group. The pair was still far off but they could see the group. "Understood," was Raorin's response and he flicked a clasp and unslung his crossbow. He didn't load it though since he didn't want to risk a misunderstanding with the group ahead. They seemed to be the people his fellow was looking for and it was confirmed by Marius calling out to them. He looked about uneasily as the advanced on him. Something wasn't quite right to him...

Avalon stopped singing as soon as the elf mentioned someone following them. "What?" She asked nervously. The first thought that came to mind was Nightlings. She nearly froze in terror. She relaxed again when Melissa said they were human. "Oh... If they're only human we don't have much to worry about."
Avi didn't sing again, and when Soren stopped playing the forest was completely silent except for a distant howling. The familiar rustling of the leaves as the group walked through the trees soothed Avalon.
Suddenly, Andra stopped in her tracks and sniffed the air. At first, Avalon assumed she sensed the humans, but when the large feline growled and crouched low to the ground, fur bristling, Avalon knew it was something else. 'Oh please not a Nightling,' Avalon prayed. She readied her dagger and stood behind her cat, facing the direction Andra was. "There's something out there," she warned the rest of the group.
It was now nearly pitch black in the forest and it was hard to see, but Avalon was in her element. In her was a contrast of powers; Dark and Fire. Avalon's familiarity with the dark gave her abnormally good eyesight at night. She peered into the forest and saw nothing. Knowing that Nightlings could easily become shadow, she consentrated her fire powers in her dagger. It glowed red and burst into flames, casting a red light around the forest. Avalon still couldn't see anything.
Off to the distance, the howling stopped, only to be replaced with a raspy breathing coming from deeper within the woods, outside the reach of the firelight radiating from Avalon's hand. "s**t! It's a Nightling!!" She cried, just as two men burst through the woods.
Then the Nightling screamed as it bounded out of its hiding place and lept for Avalon. She quickly dived out of the way. It crashed into a tree, but quickly recovered. It stood to its full height of nine feet. It screamed again, flashing its fangs. "F**k!!" Avalon shouted upon noticing its size. 'What the hell is that thing doing so far from the Nightlands?!'

Melissa readied her blade the moment Avalon mentioned something was out there. She scanned the area, and sensed a strong, dark energy, even though she couldn't tell exactly from where.
Then, a large beast leaped unto Avalon. It was horrendous, and quite huge. But there was no time to dwell on that; taking the chance, she touched Haze's flank and it charged forward. The elf quickly leaped so she was standing on the back of the horse, and when they were closing in the beast it stopped as she jumped, weapon first, to the Nightling.
Feeling her blade contact, Melissa quickly rolled back, retrieving it. The beast was wounded, but not gravely. The elf took her place by Avalon's side, and with a sharp look told her horse to get out of harm's way, which he immediately did, retreating into the forest.

Soren's hand were engulf with fire and his scar sparked then he drew his swords and started slicing at Nightling
soren's lions start jumping and biting at the Nightling

Marius hoped his warning had prepared them. He continued running and used his momentum to kick off a tree and round house kick the beast in the face. It wasn't meant to kill it but to dizzy it so the others could have a better shot at it.
He landed near Avalon and breathed heavily. "Ar-are you alright.... Mistress?" His eyes were shifting from white to black as he struggled to stay conscious. "Stay near me..."
