Yes, I remember the discussion well. XD I think just the way you talked about Zelda, I thought it sounded like you had tried it before. Just a misunderstanding. I don't think there exists a game that has that status for everyone, but I think there are some that have that status for some people. Like if the only way to play Zelda was through a $300 system that only played the current Zelda games, and nothing else, as horrible as that would be, I'd still get it. I just love those games too much, but I don't expect everyone to feel the same way. I'm actually very similar. I used to almost never play games with other people, though because I have more gamer friends I've slowly been getting more comfortable with it. Smash Brothers, New Super Mario Brothers, and Left 4 Dead has really helped that, but I still prefer to play alone. I think you'd be surprised how many good single-player games there are on Nintendo consoles, especially the Gamecube and DS. Wii does focus more on the party aspect than previous systems, but I have a good stack of games that only one or two are primarily multi-player. And with Gamecube I have almost thirty games, and only three or four are mostly multi-player. I've played The Sims 2, and I own The Sims 3, so it's not like I think the games are worse than the original. XD I just kind of fell out of the series. It was one of my first games, so I was super into it back then, but now it just... doesn't seem as fun. It's too chaotic, and there aren't very solid objectives. It's more like a virtual fun system than a video game, which is great, I'm glad it has that diversity, but with my changing attachments to game genres, it just doesn't suit me so well anymore. I still have fun with it occasionally, but I don't spend the hours I used to. He is a pushover, but I love him. <3

DAMN IT! I got logged out b/c I hadn't posted in awhile, I HATE when it does that.
Ok, so shorter...Yea I definitely wouldn't do that. The only game I follow cult obsessively is Crash, but even if it continues onto the PS3 I still would need more of an interest than that one game to buy another system, even an advancement of a system I already own. But yea I've watched people played Zelda, but haven't ever played myself.
Oh I understand there are and I'm vaguely familiar with some, and most games have an adventure sequence that's designed solo. I'm just saying PS does not make very many social games in itself. It is not a social system. First, you have to buy extra parts to even have more than 2 players, and given that most games aren't even designed for more than 2, most are pretty much one player. Or they are trade off games that might as well be one player. Most of my friends growing up wouldn't let me play/didn't want to play the Nintendo whenever I was over (not true of my friend with the Sega, so I will always have a soft spot for Genesis, low level technology as it may be - I mean hey, my intro to gaming was Atari). I watched sometimes, but in the end it just seemed kind of meh. I didn't get the nostalgia card as a child and I wasn't going to get into Nintendo in HS/college, by then it was too late. It'd have to be spectacular at that point and it's not. You can blame my selfish friends for me not liking Nintendo very much razz . Besides, being a solo player - whose mainly into racing and puzzle games, PS is the preferable system. It makes better solo racing games and some pretty complex and spectacular puzzle games. What I look for in an adventure game Sony does a rather marvelous job with.
I prefer no objectives, I have too many stressors and objectives in my day to day life as it is. It's nice to just game randomly. It's not how I like my books, but it is how I like my games sometimes.

Huh. That's never happened to me before. o.o See, how PS does that is a little too anti-social for me. XD I love my single-player games, but I still like to have some options at parties or when having friends over besides just people watching one person play. I generally don't play Smash Brothers or New Super Mario Brothers alone; those are the games I whip out when company is over. That always bothered me about the PS2, that it only had two controller ports. I may've grown up mostly on single-player games, but I also have many fond memories of playing with friends, even if I was always awkward doing so. But I'm glad it suits your gaming needs so well. ^^ Poo on your selfish friends though. Mine were kind of like that, except they would only not let me play the single-player games. If it was Smash Brothers or something, I was allowed to play, but if it was Zelda or Mario, I had to watch. That's why I got my own game system and decided not to let them even watch me play... ninja I'm not really friends with those people anymore though anyway. See, somehow having no objectives is more stressful to me. XD;; I'm a bit obsessive-compulsive, so if I don't have a 100% completion possibility... like a game that you can't win, and that you can never be the best at... I don't generally strive for that in games, but the fact that you can't achieve it really bothers me! It just doesn't have enough order! XD;; *fail*

It happens to be annoyingly frequently, which is why I try to either remember to c/p everything or not get distracted from individual posts. At least on Firefox I can just hit back and my writing is still saved, but not on IE, which I'm using again because that's what's on the loaner. I get my laptop back Saturday though. It was done Monday, of course within 2 hours of getting to Davis for a week I get a call that my computer (90 miles away at home) is finally done *sighs*.
Well, like I said, I almost never had people to game with, so I preferred a system that had games that really catered to being alone. I did really insanely love Mario Party when it came out, I barely got to play, my neighbor rarely wanted to play, but yea. I like those games, I just have minimal opportunities for them. Most of my friends aren't gamers, and most of those who are play solo.
I mean, back then my friends just weren't really into video games half the time, they weren't trying to be mean. They just never wanted to play. They were very much the once they had it they didn't want to use it anymore people, they'd rather play with the box. Which I love, they are creative talented people, but still that left me without games. The people I watched play weren't usually my friends, but the sons of my babysitter or friend's siblings - the one sibling who'd play with me was the family with the Genesis, hence my soft spot for that. Their mom always thought I was "so nice" playing with her little brother, like at this one party all the girls were doing girly things and I just went out to the shed and played Sega with Todd. I wasn't being nice, I wanted to game!
I'm very obsessive compulsive, but if there's nothing to order, there's nothing to worry about. I can make up my own OCD rather than having to abide to a set one, like in reality. See if I can't get 100% that would drive me mad, so it'd be easier to have 100% not exist, if it doesn't exist, I can never fail, and I can never go mad...^_^

Firefox used to save my text when I clicked back, but it doesn't seem to anymore and it's making me quite sad. D: Oh, Mario Party is so much fun! <3 I especially like the first and fifth ones. I think those were the first real good party games. I wish you could've gotten to play it more. D: I don't think multi-player games are as enriching and personal and single-player games, but they are fun in their own way, and it's too bad you didn't get to experience that so much. Oh, but that would drive me crazy, only buying something not to play! O_o Haha, I was always off gaming instead of doing girly things as well though. XD Wow, apparently we have two very different types of OCD. XD;;

It doesn't? I haven't used Firefox in like a month, though I will more often now that I've gotten my computer back, I hope that isn't just a change they made. I like how it saved me. I haven't been c/ping tonight b/c I'm assuming it'll save me!! *panics*
Well, my computer restarted itself while I was in the other room, and it still saved my text on restart - I think, maybe I published everything already and it just saved pages. *panics* *c/ps everything*
I've only played the first one but I loved it.
Well they play with it for a little bit and then get bored. Especially those who weren't good at games and could never beat them anyhow.
That's the fun thing about OCD, it comes in many different outfits ^_~.

It's probably just the way my browser configured in an update or something. I should check into my options. What's funny though is that it does save my text if I refresh the page. XD;; That's too bad. I never get bored of games. >_< Yes! XD

Good to know, I'll be careful, because I recently updated as soon as I got back as well, so I am perhaps also in trouble.
It depends on the game for me. I mean as I rarely get to play most games, especially multiplayer games, I rarely get bored of them. Other games I'll get bored with, sometimes because they are too easy (or too hard, and I'm just stuck/lost/confused and sitting there frustrated), other times because I just can't focus on one thing for such an extended period. Particularly video games. I like to multitask, my brain likes to run in a million different directions at once, and often that requires a bit of flexibility with my hands. If I'm chained to a machine I can't do that.

Oh yes, do be careful. I can multi-task but I prefer not to. I am definitely much more comfortable being completely absorbed in one thing at a time.

Ah, I'm not easily absorbed into one thing, the only occasional exception is usually a book. My mind is always floating off and away, sometimes it makes me feel creative, other times I feel useless. It's a curse and a blessing...maybe...sorta...no not really. Haha, man I am SO sleepy. I think I'm going to go nap before dealing with the rest of the threads I missed last night. At least any thread that requires me to read more than a sentence anyhow razz .

If I'm not absorbed into something, then I try to get absorbed into something, even my own thinking. Sometimes if that's all I have to rely on, my mind will be floating in all directions, but that's usually not the case.

I can think about more than one thing at once, I think that's why I'm like that. It made friends mad (jealous) in school. In my Ancient Near East history class, which I really liked, I'd do my Greek homework half the time, glance at my friends notes later. When we studied for the ANE final together I started spouting off things beyond the notes, explanations of the notes that one could not have the time to write down. And my English best friend would be annoyed and say "you didn't even take notes that day!" and I was like, "I know, I just remember he said it...because I was thinking blah blah blah." So yea, it's not like one thing pulls me out of the other, I really can think about multiple things at once (one usually at a higher level than the other of course) in relatively good detail for both. Which I guess is what makes me more inclined to things that allow me to really do multiple things at once, have multiple thoughts at once, be distracted by different visuals.

I can think of more than one thing at a time as well, though not so easily, and I definitely feel I get more out of the thinking if I only concentrate on one thing. And I am quite capable of doing something else while in class and getting everything out of it if it's like... math or something, but not so much with history. I not only have to pay full attention, but review my notes over and over again to remember anything. XP It's not the incapable of focusing on two things thing; it's just that I have a horrible memorization memory.

Since commenting on, whatever thread you just sent me the anime munters video I have bought and am now again listening to I Can't Decide by Scissor Sisters *huggles it*. Yup, I bought it on I AM STEVE JOBS GIVE ME YOUR SOUL Tunes xd .
Anyhow...
Ah, see my memorization is excellent, so I think that's why an excessive amount of focus bores me. I GET it already, move on! Haha rofl
