What happens when a weapon is both a power weapon and rending? Just insta-death on a six plus the Armour Pen addition?

It'll do whatever Rending does on a six and always remove armour saves as a power weapon does.

Yeah. On a 6 you've got an instant wound...Wait a tic...
I don't have my rulebook handy, but aren't Invulns allowed against rending attacks?

Rending attacks ONLY ignore armour saves, other saves are allowed that normally are allowed when armour save is ignores.
Also if you have both a power weapon and a rending weapon you'll have to choose which weapon you want to use in the beginning of the turn, and I don't think you'll get a bonus attack for two weapons, but then again I'm not sure about that part and I'm too lazy to check it up even though my rulebook is infront of me...

Come and die with the zombies in the moonlight They become alive when you die, you cannot fool them You got to slam with the dead and let it go now See a thousand hallowed eyes stare into the night
With two special weapons, you can only get the extra +1 attack for charging, not for holding two special weapons, so you're right. ^^
It's getting dark so prepare to die They're coming after you It's getting dark and you can't get away They're coming after you

I mean, what if there was a theoretical weapon that did both?

.... O.o Then I think it should ignore Invulnerable saves on a 6, but still not instant death. XP Unless it was ALSO a Force weapon, but then you're just trying to confuse someone.

*cough*
Some kind of magical theoretical Rending Power Weapon would only really find use against things with AV. Then you could potentially pull up an AP of 16 from an attacking Marine.
The Rending ability would be lost against everything else, though, as it shares its effect with a Power Weapon.

Issue: combat resolution: Example: A squad of orks boyz and a squad of space marines fail to wound..totally. neither side wounds each other. Or, both sides wound equally. How is that combat resolved? affected models are removed, but both sides are locked in assault still? roll to find a winner? The codex isn't clear on this issue.

I'm not sure if they have an official clarification of that in the rulebook, but it's most likely that they are still locked in combat.

Unless one side loses by at least 1, then no, they take no morale checks unless one falls under 50%.

It is what is known as a "Drawn Combat." No fearless saves, no falling back, nothing. They've beaten the hell out of each other for a turn and continue to do so until someone fares better than the other.
