Master of Gladiators

Master Morty let's out a sigh, as years seem to add themselves to his countenance. "Well you see, back when I was a wee squirt and new to the merchanting business, I met a comely little lass who offered to be my monetary conscience, so to speak. Ever since then, I have become vastly successful, but at the cost of losing all true bargaining ability myself. Not to say that I can't set a mean profit myself, but Jeanne, well, keeps me on track. Normally it's not a problem, as I generally have no true relationship with the random customer. But in the event that I do encounter such a person, Djeanne takes a hand. She controls all my inventory, into and out of the wagons. And if there isn't the potential of profit from the transaction, well, she flat out refuses to complete it. So, much as I'd like to give the stuff away, being as it's my goods, my boys, and my life your protecting, there's really nothing I can do but charge the minimum transaction fee involved. As such, I can buy anything you wish to sell for 50% true value, and I can sell you anything you wish for a 20% mark up. I know it seems harsh, but Djeanne won't accept anything less. Now, despite all the semi-legal mumbo jumbo, is there a transaction you would like to conduct?" Master Morty's eyes seem to light up, eager at the thought of business, despite his previous sorrowful statements...

Kail’igen nodded at Master Morty. He knew all to well what it was like to have a strong overbearing woman in your life. Hell, he had 7 until he began this new chapter of his life. Now he was finally free to make his own decisions. Kail’igen also knew 50% for the value of the sword was harsh. That would come to only 150 chips. And that with the 20% mark up would only equate to 2 potions. However the sword was pretty much useless to them and he knew the item shop back and town didn’t by stuff. This was the only real way to get any value out of it. “I will sell you the Long Sword and have a health potion and elixir of magic ready. I am not buying them as of yet as my teammates would probably rather see this money spilt up amongst ourselves. However depending on what I next see coming down that road I might change my mind so have a few health potions and an elixir ready to be purchased.”

((Alright, lets continue.))

Luc silently watches the two talk, not really caring much about posetions, and money Luc loses interest and gets on one of the wagons.

Master takes the sword, the turns and addresses the wagon. "Djeanne, we got business! Get yourself out here, and complete the transaction!" A few seconds later, a billowing fog seems to emanate from the wagon, coalescing into a slender female form, mist below the waist. "What business do you offer, little man?" she sneers. Handing her the sword, Master Morty says, "You'll be setting up a defense account for the guard. Go ahead and add 150 chips to it now, in exchange for the weapon." Djeanne examins the weapon closely, then nods with no complaint. "Your slipping old man, you tend to do better than this. But, it meets my requirements, so it shall be done." Master Morty turns to Kail, with a last question. "Are you sure you don't want them potions now? If, or I should say when we encounter combat, they won't be readily accessible. Djeanne won't appear if danger is present." Morty waits on your response.

Kail sighs and after a moment relents. "Alright, Give me a potion of health and an elixir of magic and then let us continue."

Master Morty completes the transaction, handing Kail the potion of healing and the elixir of magic. Djeanne bows and dissapates into mist, which flows smoothly back into the wagon.

You have 30 chips in your Defense Account. (which, regardless of the final outcome, cannot be lost)

Master Morty climbs atop the wagon, once again ready to press on. "Shall we Master Kail? With any luck, that's the last of the bandits in these parts." His expression belies his statement, the doubt clearly expressed in his eyes.

Kail nods to Master Morty. He erupts the potions to his belt and signals for the caravan to start. “I would like to believe that Master Morty. However my gut tells me otherwise. They knew we picked up a girl, which means they are watching us. There is a higher level of organization here that has of yet been revealed to us. We must be cautious.” Kail then jumps into the wagon along with Radryn as they begin to depart.

Slightly tired from the fight, Luc climbs into one of the wagons, props himself agains some blankets and starts to fall asleep. He might as well get some sleep in before the next battle.

The wagons continue forward, completing a good portion of the journey before night descends. As the darkness grows stronger, Master Morty turns and asks, "Well, shall we lay up here for the night? We can continue if you prefer, but the lads won't like it. They tend to get a bit cranky without their beauty sleep. It's your choice though. We can eat as we ride, and drive in shifts. Hopefully, we won't hit anything in the dark that damages the wagons." Master Morty waits for a response. The team of drivers stare intently at you, waiting on your decison as well...

Kail sighed as the eager faces looked at him for his response. He did not like waiting around. But then having tired drivers in the heat of conflict sounded like a recipe for disaster as well. He figured an attack would happen either way so he might as well let the lads get there rest. "Very well we may rest for the night. However that means there will be little sleep for us adventurers as we'll have to keep watch all night. I am just curious Master Morty, how much longer till we clear this pass?

Master Morty ponders for a bit, then answers. "Well, despite the earlier ruckus, we have made pretty good time. So, if we continue at this pace and rest at night, we should be through the pass in 2 days. Of course, that's barring any unfortunate 'interruptions'."

"Alright well lets set up camp. Its a good thing you've been sleeping Luc because your not going to get a lot of it tonight." Kail'igen then dismounts from the wagon along with Radryn and they begin to patrol about as the Wagons for ma defensive position and set up camp.

The camp is set, as defensively as possible and the drivers huddle together as they eat their dinner. Master Morty stays near the wagon, content to stare at the stars in the night sky. Shortly thereafter, the drivers and Morty bed down for the night secure in the thought that they will sleep safely under your watchful eye.

As the night sky deepens into true darkness, the moon rises, providing rays of light across the valley. Not bright enough to provide perfect conditions, it is nontheless adequate for spotting the advancing bandits, several hours into the night. Striding quietly forward, it seems as if they expect an unguarded camp. Shortly before you can prep an adequate preemptive strike, a central figure stops, lifting his hand. "It seems our information was incorrect, gentlemen. They seem to have adequate protection after all..."

The figure moves forward a few more steps, revealing himself further. Dressed in flowing robes, he clutches an amulet in his hands, smiling with an evil grin. "Well now, this was unexpected. I don't suppose your going to surrender yourselves, are you? I give you my word of honor, if lay down your weapons and offer no resistance, no harm will befall you."

At this, A single Bandit Warrior and 3 Bandit Scum move up to flank the Bandit Sorceror, all waiting on your reply.

PostPosted: Mon Nov 12, 2007 9:01 pm

Kail'igen sighs, beginning to grow tired of the bandits repeating message. Kail then stares the bandit sorcerer directly into his eyes with his one remaining eye with as grave of a look as he could muster. He responds with one defiant word as his teammates begin to rally to his side. "No"

((And let the battle begin. I was wondering, will be be able to complete this with 4 people or will we need to find another replacement))

The Bandit Sorceror laughs, then gestures to his men. "Very well, kill them all."

The Sorceror will cast Energy Burst on Radryn.
The Warrior will attack and smash Kail.
Scum 1 will attack and taunt Luc.
Scum 2 will attack and taunt Petra.
Scum 3 will attack and taunt Zypher.

You may continue when ready.

(Has Zypher withdrawn as well? If you think you need to recruit a replacement, I will allow it.)
