Michigan... knuckle of the thumb area... If some you you dont know what I mean: Look at the palm of you right hand and point to the first knuckle connecting your thumb. Yeah, the high end of your knuckle, thats about where I am xp
My School: PHN Marching Huskies Sister school across town: PH Big Red Marching Machine arrow The concert bands in both are: Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, and Concert Band. Literature is hardest is WE and it decreases.
Last year (04/05) Our Marching show was Grease **Remember Im PHN** and at districts we were 1/2 a point away from a state qualifying score. We got nailed on General Effect... Come on! It's a Grease show!!! It's all upbeat and happy, but we even put a slower jazzier Beauty School Drop Out in it!! ... we got nailed for general effect!!! ugh! .5 away... I mean the crowd loved us!! They were totally into the songs, dancing, singing, doing the hand jive... heck people in the audience even let off pink and black (pink ladies and t-birds) balloons once we finished our last song... how can you say that we didnt have generall effect... what do you want? Us to have a crucifiction on the 50 yard line!?!?! What do you want us to play a totally hard rocking, horns blaring, awesome power song, then play "4 Minutes of Silence" ?!? ... eek Heh, sorry, just remembering how peeved we were. We all spent the next class hour (including the director) ways to give the Generel Effect judge 'general effect'. sweatdrop I swear we're not hostile anymore xp
Anyway, concert season (04/05) we got straight ones at districts!!! We were sooooooooooooooooooo excited and suprised! I mean we knew we did well, but we did not expect straight ones at all! It was the first time Northern had qualified for states in over 10 years. We went to states and overall we got a 2.
There was also a Band trip (along with choir) to Florida for the music festival thingy (I didnt go *didnt have the $$* so I dont know its actual name). The people who did go, thoug, marched in the parade! See, that was supposed to be the big thing that year... Florida, and then Wind Ensemble goes and qualifies for states! AND on top of that both my school and PH were given auditoriums (attached to the schools). They were finished being built that year too.
Oh Oh! The Marching Band is growing year by year at PHN ( i cant say for PH) and we dont have enough uniforms to fit everyone, well... the school board passed a check that would buy new uniforms for both schools... (have to wait til 06/07 for them, but we get them)... and our district has been making cuts like you wouldnt believe...schools are kinda poor at the moment... so that was big too...
Yup.. Michigan... knuckle area... PHN Huskies.. Navy and Gold... yeah... 4laugh

We're a rowdy bunch that knows how to have fun. In the 4 years I've done this, I couldn't be happier with our progress. It pains me to think that I'd have to leave in 2 years. crying

I think just about everyone does, unless they donate to his campaign. x.x
I think the Fonda-Fultonville school's nice, though. I've been there once, I think; they have a lot better programs than we do. We're just cheap. Our budget didn't even pass! Rich hors. =X

Rich hors. =XWell you see, I know your Mayor a bit better than you probably do... He's a Chapter Advisor for a national youth group I'm in called DeMolay. Currently he's the Chapter "Dad", which means he basically is the head advisor. He has a control problem, and when I spoke out against what he was saying our egos clashed, and I'm currently 1 up on him because of me shooting his little idea for a stupid play fundraiser down in mid-air. Let's just say, I'm not on good terms with him and leave it at that. 3nodding

I'm in Kentucky. WCHS Marching Dragon Band. Our school colors are Navy Blue, White, and Silver. They changed the classifications so now our marching band might be a 4A and maybe in a couple years a 5A even though we only have 80-90 members. We are now classified by how big our school is when we used to be classified by how big our marching band is. I don't know if it's a good or bad change.

Russ B Well you see, I know your Mayor a bit better than you probably do... 3nodding It's not surprising that you know more of him, especially now that you've brought that up. My family's lived right outside of Broadalbin for nine years (as in, two houses down from the sign that says "Welcome to the Village of Broadalbin"), and have never anything about him, even though I'm quite positive his term hasn't been that long. (I heard something about him being replaced recently?)
Even after moving into the village, we still have heard nothing good of him. Well, nothing at all, really. It's quite a contrast from hearing about the mayors of the Capital Region every day--but, then, they certainly do have a drugs and violence problem, don't they? (I think that the mayor of Albany looks like a tangerine, but that's just me.)
To be frank, I don't quite like him much, anyway. Besides the fact that we've never heard about him doing anything from the community, to my general knowledge, he's a Republican (which wouldn't be surprising anyway, given the area we live in; I hear Fonda-Fultonville's much the same, but at least your budget passed), whereas I'm strongly liberal. The morals clash, you know.
Wow, this isn't really talking about band. Oh well, it's a regional thread. =]

Yes, well to his their own. He is republican, but mine and his egos clash like there's no tomorrow, so politics don't usually get in the way.
So I bet you know a couple of people I do from BP...Sadly I only know first names. sweatdrop
