She smiles at such an extravagant display from the boy. She takes her hand back and briefly surveys the others. When she doesn't detect interest from them, she lowers herself to sit next to Jesse. Her eyebrow raises slightly when he pulls the curious device from his pocket and places it promptly on his nose, but says nothing. She situates herself in the sand and reclines to watch the setting sun. It is framed perfectly between two young palms which somehow managed to flourish very close to the water. Her head hangs back and she soaks up the sun, seeming almost to glow as she basks. After a minute of relative silence, she lets out a soft sigh and raises her head again. "What a wondrous thing." she mentions, nodding at the sinking orb in the sky. "Do you ever ponder, what it really is?" she asks pointedly, obviously expecting an answer, but without command in her voice as she slowly turns to face the boy again.

[[[OOC: I really need to be in bed an hour ago. So I can't sit here and type anymore. sad I'll be back whenever I can be!]]] When she notices him falling into slumber, she grins and quietly ascends. The others, too, seem to have run out of energy. The scene is somewhat comical, in actualityl the handful of strangers all gathered together here. They're all dressed quite differently. And they're all going to be tan in the morning. She decides that she should move on for the evening. Before she leaves, she carefully picks up the little critter in the castle and walks it back to the ebbing tide, where it is released and immediately burrows half under the sand. She stands in awe, facing right and continues to watch the sun settle for a few minutes before it utterly disappears. She walks slowly back in the direction she appeared from and fades into the distance as darkness takes the world at hand.

She hears noise behind her and her pace quickens a bit. Her head tilts sideways and she swiftly disappears behind a tree, waiting quietly. The locust are busy tonight, all signaling each to the other, near and far. The new moon will leave little time for her to find her way. She hears stressed breathing slowing as it draws near. The footfall, too, is quieting as it gets closer. What is this? A whisper? She fancies the person following her lost and so stands her ground, refusing the urge to peek around and face him. She listens intently, trying to place him in the world behind her. Where is he? The loons are not far from here. A veritable gift from the gods themselves, to have found their way to an island so far from the mainland. There is one little lake they convene at every night. She knows she is close to home, when she hears them speak. She considers dashing through the darkening woods.

*The boy...* the wonders. She stands in shock for a moment, sure that he was slumbering when she left his side. She looks around for a sign of safety. Quickly she remembers her head-piece. She takes it off promptly and utilizes the dull reflection to espy his whereabouts. He is moving around, she can't see clearly. "Stand your ground." she commands, wondering if she is truly seeing what she thinks she is.

Anyone who took the time to know her personally would see the nervousness in her eyes, in her movements. It would not be obvious to one who had only seen her for a short time. It seemed so long since she had humans to fraternize with, she decided to take a chance and step out. Exposing herself in such a manner was silly, but she felt she had no choice but to exercise as much caution as possible and still put herself out there. She walked around the other side, flanking him. She spun him around by his shoulders and held them firm, staring into his eyes when he finally faced her. She said nothing as he stared at her, eyes wide with fear or loathing. Her eyes burned intensely, searching for something. "Boy?" she asked softly, but firmly.

"Don't be ludicrous. Of course you're not bothering me." she said hastily, but with as much seeming calmness as ever. She releases his shoulders and nods her head a bit. "Are you lost?" She waits a moment and continues, when he continues to stare at her, obviously not able to make out more than her outline in the shadow. "Should you like a guide back to your camp, or are you a night-time explorer?" she giggles with effort, in attempt to ease him a bit. He stutters for a second and she gaffles his hand "Follow me, Jesse. I can take your back to your compeers." Before she takes a second step she adds "If you'd like." and waits for an answer.

[[[OOC: forgive me for taking so long to reply; I'm cooking downstairs and didn't think about it before I logged in, tonight. Trying to get some stuff out of the way for this weekend. smile ]]] "Tornado..." she states, sounding stupefied. "Ah yes... tornado..." she continues walking, holding onto his hand firmly. She hums to herself very quietly; just loud enough that the young man can make out that it's her and not some strange unknown thing in the woods surrounding them. She appears to know precisely where she's going in the darkness which is almost total, now. She waits for the question patiently, as she leads him. The tree frogs are singing a strangely unquieting tune, which seems to follow them in their stead. She stops, suddenly and sighs. "Silly amphibians." and bends down to replace the creature with the earth, tugging him closer as she does.

[[[OOC: Done now. I apologize. I had some other things I had to check on. stare ]]] "Can't you?" she asks rhetorically. "Yes, I'd almost forgotten." she seems to be day-dreaming; her answer lags behind the question. She sways softly as she walks, her humming increasing in volume. At the edge of the woods, at the very last tree, she stops and listens. Her hand squeezes his, in warning of silence. Something is moving in the trees. Something swift and quiet, yet still perceptible. Her hand appears to be growing quite cold, sucking the heat from his. As chilling as the experience is, it causes no panic. "Shhh..." she begs the wind, her head tilted toward the heavens in reverence, her eyes not quite closed completely. The sound of rain or sleet seems to invade the senses. It's coming from behind the duo.
