Right, well... you should probably rent it or something cuz it was pretty cool back then. I don't know how it will hold up by today's standards but if you see it, let us know what your opinion about it is. 3nodding
I've seen the one about the witch and the lion and I have even heard of Prince Caspian but I had never heard of the Demonata series? Those are still books, right?

One of my favorite fantasy characters would have to be Shalken, a unicorn from the Obsidian trilogy. For one thing, he has a sweet tooth and a great personality too. He can be quite sarcastic and bossy. All around, simply amazing. 3nodding

Hmm, I don't know if my unicorn can compete with that...
Anyone has favorite characters they might want to post here? After playing Dragon Quest 4, I'm getting to like the one called Alena. I wonder who else here has knowledge of her...

*Gasp* Eragon and Saphira, from the Inheritance Cycle. They were the most well thought out and written characters that I've read about so far. I've also felt the strongest emotions towards them (I've gasped aloud quite a few times).
I'm mentioning what happens, but any fantasy fanatic has to read that series. It starts with Eragon, then Eldest, and then Brisingr. And there's a fourth book being written (*gasp* hurry up Chris!)

Well considering how long Brisinger took...I'm just hoping he actually finishes the next one rolleyes . Anyway fantasy characters....Baereris from Rischard Lee Byers' Unclean. He's a bard! and no spoony bard like edward from FF(had to refrence it) he uses songs like spells, his voice is infused with natural magic. It's and interesting way to use a bard in a story and he has a long tale of events throughout the book, and I suppose the triliogy too(I just finished the first book)

It's too bad but I haven't been able to read anything lately and I doubt I will any time soon. Can you believe I almost never get to see a fantasy book around in my country? At least not in any of the supermarkets where I go to anyway... It's too bad the Eragon movie wasn't well made, or so I hear. I thought it was ok since I hadn't read the book.
Ha-ha! If I had read this post of yours a few months back I would be going like "Huh, Edward a bard? I thought he was a full metal alchemist!?" Ha-ha! I'm glad I started playing FF4 a while ago. Can't remember when I started though but Rosa is one of my favorite characters from there. 3nodding

Oh, he'd better finish it. I doubt he'd stop writing it even if he was, I don't know, being chased by snapping crocodiles? I mean, imagine what all the fans would think? If they're all anything like me, they wouldn't be very happy.
And *gasp* Hypno, where do you live? I'd die without fantasy. And I've never seen the film, but I understand what your saying. Films are always rubbish compared to books. I wonder how many times I'll repeat that phrase...

Well I shall take a quote from the acknowledgements section in Brisinger :"Simon Lipskar, my agent, for his friendship, his hard work, and for giving me a much needed kick in the pants early on in Brisinger(without which I might have taken another two years to finish the book)"Two years?! Two more years?! It was already two years late!

Two more years?! It was already two years late! It nearly took him two years?! I didn't know that, I only began to read the series this year, because they had a copy of Brisingr in the school library in hardback. I'd been thinking of reading the series for a while, so I ended up buying Eragon and Eldest in a two pack and reading Brisingr from school. So I'm now very glad I didn't have to wait two entire long years for the third book. Ah, one day I will get my own copy of Brisingr, and I'll be able to read them all again and again and again. I can tell you it was a pain to carry an enormous hardback book in my schoolbag.
Well, I hope I'm not going to be waiting two years for this one now. And who knows, he might end up stretching it into another book again? And I've noticed, you put in an 'e'. And I'm sure there isn't an 'e' in brisingr confused . Ah well.
And anyway, lets try not to turn this into an Inheritance discussion. Soooo, characters!

It's a rather small country in Central America and it's easy to look us up. wink So you'd die without fantasy, huh? It would be nice if we were next door neighbors cuz I am always coming up with some fantastic thing so, even if your favorite authors are taking their time to finish something, we could always get together and chat. 3nodding Ok so, a character I like from fantasy... Well, Since I'm reading The Odyssey, I might mention Ulysses from it but I just started and I haven't been able to see how he is really like. I'll come back once I do!

I've never heard of that trilogy. But this unicorn does sound rather awesome whee . Maybe I'll look around for it. But at the moment I'm reading the Inkheart trilogy (I'm on Inkspell if anybody is wondering) and I have the His Dark Materials trilogy waiting to be read on my shelf. I read The Golden Compass a while back (before the film, which was rubbish) and I've always wanted to find out what happened. But I've forgotten what happens, so I'll probably read it again.
Since I'm reading Inkspell, I may as well mention a character from there. Well, I love Elinor; she makes me laugh. She has such a temper, especially when it comes to books. It's very funny when you enter her point of view. But I also like Farid. I have a soft spot for him.

That's odd, I didn't think The Golden Compass movie was that bad, he-he... sweatdrop
I've barely heard about Inkheart and I'm gonna see the movie first. I think Brendan Fraser is in that one and I don't know if it will be ok or what. Hey Vaporeae, are you a fan of unicorns then?

If you do look for The Obsidian Trilogy, the first book is called The Outstretched Shadow and it's by Mercedes Lackey and James Mallory. I highly recommend it.
Also, one of my favorite characters in a fantasy book ever: Joscelin Verreuil from Jacqueline Carey's Kushiel's Legacy series. Oh. My. God. I'm only totally in love with him. For those of you who don't know about him, he is a member of what is called the "Cassiline Brotherhood," which is a sect of celibate warriors trained specifically to protect. He's prideful, but he has reason to be. He could probably kill just about anyone who got in his way. And he does have to step up to the plate on several occasions. That's not to say he isn't a totally nice guy, because he is...just don't ******** with his ward. He's also charmingly inadequate when it comes to anything that resembles the performing arts. Aww. ^_^
