So their hands and the knee-groin reigions are unprotected by armor? And do the greeves protect the back portion of the legs, near the hamstrings?

Yes the greeves help protect that area and Jay they are wearing materials designed to be bullet resistant. I say leather, but it's not just leather. These people come from a place where explosive rounds are common anti infantry weapons.

Still sounds as if their joints and necks (front, back, and sides of their necks all, it sounds like) are unprotected, and their faces are semi-vulnerable, as I think you've said their wearing helmet's not to protect their faces but the tops of their heads and to give them extra sensory options like for tracking the enemy. Well designed, a tough foe, but I still think Rivven would have a field day with them, if not the two commanding officers. Taking out troops of normal soldiers is his specialty in truth, not one on one combat.

No, I only brought 12 along with me, two have been killed and one wounded. Rivven, don't get cocky, sure that's what your to do kill mass troops, but these guys are the best of the best where they are from and fight at a distance. Your lucky I didn't bring any stormbolters with me. twisted But remeber, these guys as a whole will decimate you all if you come at them one at a time. Sure you'll get some kills, but these guys have seen lots of fighting, it's what they live for.

Okay, I spoke too soon, looks like they have decent face protection, but as long as you don't rush to take them on head to head, magic can provide much advantage, whatever they are equiped with offensively beyond sidearms, shotguns (you said they had shotguns not rifles, right?), and knives.

Psychofish Okay, I spoke too soon, looks like they have decent face protection, but as long as you don't rush to take them on head to head, magic can provide much advantage, whatever they are equiped with offensively beyond sidearms, shotguns (you said they had shotguns not rifles, right?), and knives. Combat shotguns, so they fire at a quicker rate, also they can switch out between shot and slugs. They also have their side arms which are large pistols, combat knives, fire bombs and fragmentation grenades. Another note is that they are loaded out to fight evil so they will be designed for killing hellspawn, so blessed metals, some silver shot, all that good stuff.

I think we should get back to speaking of the soldiers....
The trick is, to hinder the enemy, these guys are good so unfortunately it wouldn't disorient them, but then you take your time, find an opening, and just pick off one at a time until there's none left but the two in charge.
