"Of course not." He protested gently, giving another smile, "Why, a sure footed one like yourself? I'm winded from walking here and I've longer legs than you. You've got quite the spirit, I doubt you'd fall- I just want you to be presentable when we meet the rest of the pride. They're a bunch of females, I'm the only male here and we don't want you to be making a bad first impression do we?" He smiled softly, beinding himself down, "Here, climb up on my back. I never did like the notion of hanging from someone's mouth... another male's least of all." He smiled softly, come to think of it... the only other males he had met were the queen's squire who had gone missing and a large rouge adult who had nearly killed one of his... ahem... meal friends.

((I wouldn't mind. smile ((ooh. Layla looks pretty. *mugs you for pic of Montsho*))

He eyes Maji sleepily, although he's a little to distracted by being sleepy and hungry to be suspicious for long, padding over on oversized cub feet to try and climb onto Maji's back. Thats a mode of transportation he's never considered before, it sure beats hanging helplessly in mum's teeth like a baby. Which of course he's not. He's just...not that old yet. Completely different.

(( No problem here, Avelena xd ))

"There you are, comfortable?" He looked over a shoulder and smiled, "Just relax now, we don't want our little warrior to grow weary." Turning he continued on his way, carefully picking his way down into the river bed. He was certainly surefooted dispite how delicate he looked. It might even seem as though he was used to carrying something on his back with how easily he managed to move even with the little addition to his weight.

The riverbed was peaceful enough. A gazelle watched them from the corner of his eye as he drank, Maji knew him- but for the moment he'd not introduce the two. "Are you at all thirsty? It was quite the walk. The water here is fresh, unlike the standing water you're probibly used to- and very cold. It's more refreshing than anything you've likely tasted."

((No pic of Montsho, but she's an adult panther with blue eyes.))

With a careful jump Layla landed firmly on one of her favorite branches, it shook for a second and she quickly found her balance, useing her claws to keep still. As she strolled toward the end of the branch that hung near the river she heard a familiar voice. Instinctively she flattened herself to the branch and edged closer, before her small black head popped most visibly from around the branch.

Maji she easily recognized but the one on his back was unknown, her large purple eyes taking in his details for storage. She took quick note of the gazelle but neither her nor Montsho were particularly hungry and so she focused back on the strange cub.

She eased her way farther down the branch to the less stable and thinner end before noisily batting at a gathering of smaller branches to get Maji's attention. Most of the twigs snapped easily and Layla layed back, watching him, her small black face just barely visible.

Montsho laid just out of view, she'd been explaining her plans to return to Firekin in the future with Layla and they were laying down times and preperation, unsure of how hostile the lands still were. Her body flat against the grass behind thick foliage, blue eyes taking in the scene and keeping careful watch on her young tag-along.

Ramses blinks curiously at the river, listening to Maji's description, though he's not thirsty right now, or if he is it's largely eclipsed by 'hungry', which makes him shoot the gazelle an hungry look. "'M ok..." He answers, blinking at the running water, different from the cool brown of most waterholes. He sits up sharply on Maji's shoulders though at the snap of twigs, ears perking, eyes widening. Maybe it's Mum? But no...he doesn't recognize the scent or the shape of the newcomber. "Who's that?" He asks, now intently curious.

"Oh uh...", his ears rotated upwards as he casually turned towards the sound of snapping branches. The sleek, black figure was indeed a firmilar one though one from a time when he was near Ramses' size and age. Layla had been among one of Maji's first friends and the very first lion that he had seen aside from the lonely reflection in still waters. Mothered by a leopard, the young lioness was always slipping in and out of sight. He'd see her for many days then suddenly she'd be gone without word or warning.

Smiling pleasently up to the lioness he nodded a bit for her to join them. "Why, Layla, always a pleasure when you drop in. I've someone I'd like you to meet." He looked over to Ramses, "This young explorer is Ramses- he'll be staying with us for the time being. Seems his mother got lost." He winked to the black lioness- hoping that she'd catch on to help spare the pride of the young one. "Master Ramses this is Layla, perhaps the most stealthy lioness you'll meet. A fine hunter this one."

((I must have put that poorly, I should RP them in seperate colors to avoid confusion. Anywho, Layla (lioness that Maji knew) is out on the branch, Montsho is hidden just sort of hanging out...I'll edit the post to make it clearer))

((*pats Thalion* No, no, not lame...confused maybe...))

"Good to see you too Maji, and hello Ramses," Layla spoke slowly as she slunk down the branch and leapt to the ground without a waver. She smiled at Maji for just a moment before taking a step forward and peering into the water intently. She thought for a moment and dipped half of one of her paws in the water for a moment.

"Lost? Far from here?" she continued to stare intently at the water, her voice calm and low being just above audible.

"We're not quite sure...", he shrugged, slowly laying himself down so Ramses could get off without stumbling down. "I found him in the boarder between our lands and what lays beyond. I'm not quite sure about what pride dominates that land... we may have to get in contact with the king of that pride and see if he would be able to help us, grant us passage to look for the said lost lioness and help this young one back to his family." He rubbed at his chin a bit, it would be a shame for the poor cub to endure the fate that the young mistweaver had. A life of solitude, the lack of family and guidence from said family. "But for now, we need to rest, recover our strength. If his mother cannot be found by our means, he can stay with us until she finds him. I think it would be most wise."

Ramses slid down and hopped onto the ground, blinking at Layla with bright red eyes. "My Mum's a bit silly in the head." He explains as though this is the most reasonable thing in the world. "She wanders off sometimes, but this time she REALLY got lost while I was getting rid of a stupid bug." His tail snaps irritably. "She's just going to get in trouble...I think she goes looking for some...guy or something. Thats what it was last time, only then she forgot what she was looking for again."

He chuckled a bit, looking down to the black cub. Poor child. At least there was a good chance that he'd survive better here than on his own. Perhaps the mother hadn't taken off on acciendent, what a horrid thought... but the world wasn't as kind as the young Mistweaver wished that it was. His own parents- gods know what became of them- had left him to fend for himself when he was but a cub. It very well could have been a common thing. "A silly thing for her to do, especially with a gentlemen such as yourself as her son." He put a paw reassuringly on the cub's shoulder.

(( Time warp yeah! blaugh ))

Maji continued to circle Hodari, his face curled into a silent frown, his tail snapping sharply behind him as he moved. What had he said? Could he be so foolish as to have already forgotten what he had insulted the queen with? What words had been so terrible as to send the normally confident Ciyari away from them. He growled again, pausing in front of the younger male but kept his eyes away from him. "I am most displeased....", he said very quietly, his voice would seem more collected than most would in anger, a silky kind of tone to it, smoothe but dangerous at the same time, "Even if you did not reconize her highness... she'd have announced herself.... even if she hadn't you should always treat a lady with respect...being under her at one time even a fool such as you would know that much...."
