Lady Blodwynn Judging from the large spines I'd say that critter is the new proposed toxic monster. Something of a smaller version of the Malathrope (sp?) maybe. I saw that while browsing around last night as well. The suggested Toxathrope, Pyrothrope, and...(something else)thrope have been bandied around as entering the list. Toxathrope has the poison, the Pyrothrope is allegedly a long range support unit, and I can't remember what the third was supposed to do.

Well, so far we know the Gaunts are probably being split, seeing as to how GW pulled them from the online store, and that we're getting plastic gargoyles along with the Plastic Trygon and a few new species. Though, I'm actually a little worried, what if GW doesn't split the boxes, and instead is just reducing the amount of units in a box, similar to how they did with Guardsmen before the new Codex arrived? stare I wouldn't put it past them..

SPICE EMPEROR -Shino- What's the source on that Cal? Eh, just rumblings from the tubes, specifically Warseer and BoLS. Nothing that I'd ever put too much stock in.

Rumour has it that they're improved Biovores, or at least the first is. Pretty sure they'll make it so Spore Mines fired from a Bio/Pyrovore don't give Kill Points, and thus will make them marginally more worth taking.

The Pyrovore is a variant of the Biovore that does flamable attacks. The Toxathrope is being previewed in the White Dwarf, it's a Ravener / Zoanthrope of sorts but with spore chimneys on the back and with a lot of lash whips. It probably does poison damage as well. Not sure about Mawloc but that could be a special character variant of the Trygon. Death Leaper and Red Terror also make a return as special characters of sorts. Some other snippets: - Brood Lords are no longer HQ choices, but instead unit upgrades for Stealers - Carnifexes come in 1-3 broods - Zoanthropes to elites - Warriors as troops, possibly with an extra wound and +1 to current armor save - Tyrant probably the only HQ choice edit. Toxathrope: I've also heard that the reason for the mid-month release and the push of Legion of the Damned to the start of the month is because the codex was a misprint, hence scrapped and reprint.

Honestly, I hope they allow the possibility for an all Warrior armylist. It would just be fun to field. I'm not an experienced 'Nid player, though. I've only put together a few lists in my time for them.

Chances are that the codex will be horde oriented, with smaller critter broods being supported by large critter broods. I just hope that the author doesn't more or less copy the stellar Imperial Guard codex into a version with bugs instead of tanks and platoons.

The new codex won't be a copy-pasta of the Guard codex. I'm glad that you don't attack the author on his experience or his previous exploits.
But yes, Nids were first and foremost always a horde army. So in its essence it will be that. Big changes are that you can have more of things, as with the Guard codex allowing for more tanks. The new additions so far are big blanks to me, especially the Trygon. No rules are known and chances are that the established Forge World rules will be scrapped and new, more simple and effective ones put in place. As for the other new critters, nothing is really known about them, though it has been said that the Pyrovore will go on a 60mm base and sport a larger weapon symbiote on its back.

Ohgod, squadroned Carnifexes. I'm not sure whether to cry or start buying more SM Bikes for Rough Rider conversion.
