The SNAG would ring twice before Sub picked up on the third ring, the man instantly greeting Tristen with a happy; "Hello!" With his tone remaining cheery the man continued. "How are you doing, Tristen? Everything going okay?" He asked, his tone promptly changing in that moment, as if a thought had popped up into his mind that made him reconsider why the boy was calling him. "...no more fungal problems, right? Or Team Star antics? Please tell me I don't have to punch children agai-...I mean battle children again. You know me, I hate having to battle children, don't want to crush their dreams of being a Pokemon Master...haha...punching them, that's funny...any who!" He said, clearing his throat. "What's up?"

Tristen stared at his SNAG in confusion as Sub went on the tangent he was on as soon as he picked up the line, but that was Sub probably being the usual self. “Uh, nothing is wrong. Blizz suggested that I call you about this one. Is there any way I can get a computer here in my dorm for school? Like I told Blizz, it’d be really convenient for me to do my school work on or to even make Pokémon exchanges on instead of having to go all the way across campus just to do any of that. Not to mention, personally, I kinda got nothing in here in the downtime. Blizz suggested to talk to you because he didn’t think it was too good of an idea to use any computers the academy might have available to rent or whatever. Something about not knowing what students actually done to these computers as opposed to the ones like in the library. You know, something new? Or…Clean?” It was an odd choice of words, Tristen thought. Still the same naïve kid.

Sub considered Tristen's request for a few moments, remaining quiet as he thought about it. It wasn't too unusual of a request and certainly one he could manage for the boy. The question he had wasn't whether or not to get him a computer but rather what was the best way to go about it. It wasn't often the boy asked him for something, let alone as the behest of Blizzard, so he wanted to be sure he met this call for action properly. After shaking himself out of his own thoughts the man would answer. "Sure! I can get you a computer, no problem at all. I'll even make sure it securely connects to the SNAG network for your Pokemon transfers. Even give that puppy biometric security features to ensure no one can access your data! It'll be decked out!" He responded eagerly. "Give me a bit though, I'll make a few calls around for hardware and see what I can't have GRAY help me with on the software end. I'll be in touch once I have something to report. Sound good?" He asked the boy.

"Okay, thank you, Sub!" He said. This was perfect. Brand spanking new computer to take care of every last daily digital need. Perfect. "Anything that you need me to do? I don't want to just take it and run with it." Tristen then asked. Something like this couldn't possibly be no strings attached could it and it was in fact a case of a time of need and so suddenly at that. If nothing else, Tristen was raised better than a good number of kids.

Sub thought about Tristen's question for a bit again, was there anything the boy could do in return? It's not like he expected anything out of Tristen, he was more than glad to get him the computer he needed. However Tristen was a good kid, he didn't just expect things to be handed to him and while he wanted to tell Tristen no, he didn't need to do anything in exchange, he thought the boy might feel better if he was given something to do. Ease his own conscious. Considering that the man spoke. "Well, if you really want to do make this a fair exchange how about you gather a couple of Tera Shards for me, at least two." He said, then realizing he may need to elaborate further.

"We've been working on studying the Terastalization phenomenon since we first arrived in Paldea, to try and figure out if we can add a feature that replicates the Tera Orb to our Snag Machines. To that end I could use Tera Shards for our research. If you're unaware they are the fragmented remains of a Tera Den, those big crystal clusters you find out in the wilds across Paldea which house Terastalized Pokemon. Those shards contain a bit of Tera energy in them which are great for our experimentation. Furthermore simply battling a Terastalized Pokemon would be great for our research as GRAY can collect data via your SNAG. So how about it? Think you could battle a Tera Pokemon or two for me in exchange for that computer?" He asked Tristen.

In other words, raid a Tera Den, Tristen figured. Considering that those Pokémon are tougher than the standard fare, Tristen figured that he would need to bring in a powerful party as a just in case measure because truth be told he never been in one of those before. He was told about the terastalized Pokémon that roamed the region out of the dens during the couple of weeks that he was stuck at the headquarters to recover and how much of a pain they were to deal with, at least by his adoptive father’s team at the time. So, it shouldn’t be too bad if he went in there full power, should it? “Okay, that’s fair enough. In fact, I did need to go out for a while anyways today for another project due tomorrow, so maybe I can take a detour to do that. I’ll try to hunt down one of those dens and take care of it.” Tristen said to Sub.

"Splendid! Sounds like a game plan then. I'll be in touch with you, Tristen. Let me know if you knock out a Tera Pokemon before I speak to you again. Later!" With that said Sub would hang up, leaving Tristen to figure out the rest of his evening of which there wasn't all that much left. He did have a new task on his agenda, though admittedly it wasn't an urgent one like his homework or make up work was.

Tristen would grab his SNAG once the transmission was over then took a look at the clock. Tristen still had a bit before dinner for one, so if he did have any intention on seeing if he couldn’t take a shot at a Tera Den and still make it back at a okay time, it had to be now. Tristen would get changed out of his academy uniform altogether and got dressed into his normal wear, another just in case precaution. Moving stuff around, between his desk and his pack, he finally got himself set, wanting to make the most of the remainder of the day as he could. Grabbing his Pokeballs and supplies, Tristen made his way out of the dorm, locking the door behind him, making his way off for a PC once again to make changes to his Pokémon lineup. Fearing the worst for Spewpa or Litten or even Sprigatito, he would stash them and instead started to withdraw his heavier hitters to make sure that he was going to succeed in this impromptu mission. He if nothing else wanted to make sure that he had his end of the arrangement done before Sub managed to get that computer for him. He'd arrange a whole assortment to take with him, trying to be ready for just about anything that may come his way.

He would make his way out of the academy shortly after, trying to figure out where to go. In the times that he had made his way down south, off towards Los Platos, he didn’t notice any Tera dens what so ever…as if they just didn’t exist. He did recall the occasional one the one time he found himself in Cortondo with his other friends, though they did not actually go into it to see what was inside. Was that the play? Well, it was the only other way he knew and it wasn’t as if he was going to go too far from the limits of Mezagoza. Hopefully he’d be able to find a den somehow, take on whatever is inside, then come back out and make it back to Mezagoza just in time for dinner and hopefully also the final still life he needed to make. If push really came to shove, he’d probably get Xatu to teleport him back to the academy just to save on time. Though that probably meant that even though he is bringing the bird, it was going to have to stay out of the battle to come. Regardless, follow that up with a study session…well, as long as he could manage before finally calling it quits. Tristen started to make his way off West, past some stairs and back alleys, past various stores and through various streets to make his way through the western gates of Mezagoza, heading out into Area Two of the southern provinces.

Tristen would travel a bit into Area Two of the South Province, it already clear from just outside of Mesagoza that the main road would lead him straight into the sprawling olive orchard, the boy able to smell the olives from here. If he went north or south off of the road he'd be on the Paldean prairie, finding the landscape largely open grassland with gentle rolling hills. Because of the landscape here there were very few trees and thus few bird Pokemon, instead the Paldean prairie was dominated by four legged grass eaters like Mareep or burrowing Pokemon like Diglett. It was a peaceful place with very few predatory Pokemon to be found.

In time, whether he stuck to the road or went off, Tristen would stumble upon a raid den, one of the very few around, it pink in color. If he neared it Tristen would find something lodged in the cluster of crystals, whatever it was alive and wiggling. Getting closer he'd see what it was, a Hoppip. If he had to guess it blew in on a breeze and got stuck in the Tera crystal, unable to free itself. If Tristen chose to it would be a simple matter for him to free the Hoppip, it barely squeezed in there. Once the Hoppip was free from its 'prison' it would give Tristen a confused look before letting out a hiccup-like "HopPIP!"

An explosion of Fairy energy would be released in that moment which separated the two, sending both flying a short ways back and apart. Tera energy would begin to swell from the Hoppip, surrounding the general area around itself and Tristen in a crystalline dome, trapping them inside this 'den'. The rest of the Tera energy would gather in Hoppip and form a winged heart on the head of the tiny Hoppip, a Fairy type Tera Crown. Now in possession of this newfound power the frightened Hoppip would let out a battle cry, unleashing a small shock wave of Fairy energy all around it to indicate its intention to battle. Looks like the Tera raid has begun, whether or not Tristen intended to get into one.

Tristen kept on the look out as soon as he crossed the bridge that separated Mezagoza and Area Two. He was hoping that he wouldn't have to go far to find any sort of raid den; it was still a big area nonetheless and it wasn't as if he actually studied as to how these dens were actually formed, or if there were any rhyme or reason to them. At least the walk wasn't really all that bad. It could have honestly been worse; it could have been the rocky terrain off into the east that could of hid virtually around anything around every corner. He wasn't all too interested in trying to capture any of the wild Pokemon around, though if nothing else, taking note to a Mareep had his attention. The idea of trying to raise another electric type was somewhat enticing, but then he ended up remembering that he does have an Electabuzz that he needed to get around to purifying. Now that he thought about it, it was going to be easier said than done, especially if most of his time was going to be spent here in Paldea and not in any controlled conditions like in Snagem's training room.

As Tristen continued on, he started to take note of something. There was a faint streak of light from close by that almost fully blended in with the sky. As if someone was trying to shine a spotlight. He would make his way around and take notice to the pink crystal formation. It was pay dirt. He would quickly scurry his way over to the crystal formation, not sure how long it had been there, or how long that it would remain for that matter, but as he got closer, he took notice to something out of the ordinary. A Pokemon. Stuck, perhaps. "Oh boy..." he would approach the rock formation, slowly getting closer, until he realized what it was. "Oh hey there...did you get stuck in this? Here, I can help...just...take it easy, alright? I'm not going to hurt you...just relax..." he'd reach over and gently pull on the Hoppip, managing to get it dislodged from the crystal formation. "There you go. All better. See, no big deal. You might want to fly off from here before something else happen. Maybe try to float a little higher next time, okay?"

Tristen could only stare in confusion for a second when the Hoppip stared back, confused itself, but apparently it wasn't too thrilled of Tristen holding it as he was. When it squealed, Tristen nearly jumped, not imagining a Hoppip could be so loud. He then noticed the tera energy swell but before he got to let go, he was blown back by the powerful force. Tristen went into a backwards tumble before being laid out flat for only a second. He quickly got up and stared in confusion as the crown formed and it became something he didn't necessarily expect. He expected something that would represent a Grass type, but this? A heart? Wings? Was this fairy typing? "Wait, Pokemon can terastalize into different types?!" Tristen asked. Up until now, he only known Pokemon to keep to their types. When he was told that it 'futzed' with their typing, Tristen up until this point just assumed it only took hold to a dominant type and ignored the other type if they had one. This was something different entirely. Tristen took out a Pokeball and his SNAG. "GRAY, I hope you are getting all of this...just found out something new." he said. Well, he was looking for a battle. He got one...

"Go! Magmar!" he shouted. He tossed the Pokeball out and out came the living inferno that was his Magmar.

"Maaaag," The Magmar spoke.

"Alright, Magmar, let's go! Flamethrower!" Tristen commanded.

The Magmar breathed in then unleashed a powerful plume of fire towards the Hoppip. On any other day, this might have been overkill. Dealing with these terastalized Pokemon? Who knows...

The Flamethrower would spew forth and consume the tiny Hoppip, its Tera Crown the only thing that was visible through the flames as it was bigger than its own body leaving one to question how Hoppip held it up. Once the Flamethrower had subcided Tristen could see it had done a fair bit of damage, the Hoppip looking worse for wear but he could also tell it was not super effective. The Hoppip was, besides offensively, now a Fairy type after all and that was perhaps the only thing that saved its skin in this moment.

With an angry cry the Hoppip would retaliate, finding in itself to muster up a fair amount of Fairy energy, the power of Terastalization swelling inside its body and giving it a pink aura until the cottonweed Pokemon unleashed all this energy at once in the form of a sweeping gust of Fairy Wind which would blow against Magmar. Not that this would be too big of a problem for Tristen's Magmar, the Fairy move not very effective. Wait, what was it doing!?

"Pip!" It briefly cried out after its attack, energy forming around it again and creating around it a protective bubble of energy, some sort of shield. This was different, did it use some sort of move?

"I most certainly am getting it. This is an excellent data collecting opportunity. It's also humorous to me that it's a Hoppip you're facing. You should ask Sub about the Hoppip species." GRAY replied to Tristen, making a reference to something.

The reference was lost on Tristen, not so much for what GRAY meant, but the focus that Tristen had on the battle. Magmar ended up wincing a little bit from the attack, only so much as the Fairy Wind was only a discomfort, but nothing more. The fact that it even did that much was because of its newfound typing. “Okay, Magmar! Use-“ Tristen cut himself off, both he and his fiery Pokémon stared in confusion as the Hoppip once again squealed and conjured some sort of barrier. That didn’t look like any sort of Protect attack, nor did it look like any sort of Light Screen or Reflect. “What in the world? Blizz didn’t talk about Terastal Pokémon making some sort of shield…” Tristen said, staring in confusion. Though if it was like any other shield, then it might just only require…what? At least one extra fire attack to put this thing down? It was just a Hoppip, after all. Fairy typing or no. “Magmar, try another Flamethrower!” he shouted. The Magmar was willing to oblige, once again breathing in and unleashing the harsh plume of fire towards the Hoppip.

The Flamethrower would bellow out from Magmar's beak and make contact with the shield protecting Hoppip, spreading over and around the bubble-like shield and while the Hoppip grimace slightly it was immediately clear that the Flamethrower did nowhere near as much damage as it did before. Once the Flamethrower ended Tristen could register some tiny cracks in the shield that weren't there before but still, the shield remained and it really mitigated a lot of the damage the Flamethrower would have delivered were the shield not in the way.

"Interesting, that shield severely reduced the damage Hoppip would have suffered from the attack. Though it appears the shield itself suffered some damage." GRAY commented, as if reiterating what Tristen could already see himself.

"Hoppip pip!" The Hoppip cried out, making its move once the Flamethrower ended, the cottonweed Pokemon proceeding to wildly shake the leaves on its head, releasing from them a thick cloud of Poison Powder all around it. The Hoppip would then follow up the Poison Powder with a familiar move as it called upon its newfound Fairy energies and unleashed a Fairy Wind, the Fairy energy empowered gust carrying the Poison Powder with it as the two moves swept over Magmar.

‘Severely reduced’ is right. Tristen was dumbfounded how protective this barrier was. This was as if some sort of…super light screen or something. Something like that shouldn’t have been possible. Even Protect screens tend to fade out right about now, but this one apparently is still going strong. Was this the Terastal energy supplementing the barrier? Tristen could only speculate. Though the barrier did seem to withstand some damage. It was going to need a lot of brute force to break. Truthfully, the pressure started to be put on by this empowered Hoppip once it started to not only let loose a Poison Powder, it sent it off, carrying it with another Fairy Wind. Tristen had to back off lest he ended up poisoned himself. “Magmar! Look out! Don’t breathe that in!” he shouted.

Unfortunately, by the time he got that instruction out, while a fair bit of powder incinerated as it tried to make surface contact with Magmar, it was the powder that didn’t which became an issue. The walking inferno started hacking and coughing from the poison carried on the wind. “Oh no…” Tristen uttered. The Manetric now knew he needed to get out of here now. This has gone far enough. The last thing he wanted was Magmar to fall to the likes of a Hoppip of all things. Maybe he could coax this barrier off of the Hoppip by suffocating it with poison itself? Time to pull a page out of Magmar’s former trainer’s book. “Magmar! Smog!” he shouted.

"Maaaag!" Magmar let loose a whole massive plume of toxic smoke which moved its way over towards the Hoppip.

"Maaaag!" Magmar let loose a whole massive plume of toxic smoke which moved its way over towards the Hoppip.

The stream of toxic gasses would rapidly flow towards Hoppip, quickly engulfing the Pokemon in its fumes and obscuring its view. The Smog would begin to eat away at the shield bubble allowing the gas to seep in and begin to choke the Hoppip itself as it began to hack and cough. The Hoppip would cough for a few seconds before suddenly the shield around it shattered completely which in turn resulted in a flash of light being released from the Hoppip's body, the Grass type recoiling back as if it were harmed in that moment. "Hoppiiip!" It cried out as its shield shattered and it appeared to take a terrible blow.

"That Smog seems to have harmed it considerably more than the previous Flamethrower. And it destroyed the shield whereas the Flamethrower just cracked it. Might there be a reason for that?" GRAY pondered allowed. "Wait, is it fainting already?"

Turning his attention back to the Hoppip Tristen could see the Pokemon swaying and looking worse for wear, its Tera Crown having shattered immediately after its shield was destroyed. If Tristen were to ever capture the Hoppip now would be his moment, however if he didn't he'd find the Hoppip suddenly find a bit of energy left in itself the moment the 'den' around them faded away and released them, the Hoppip proceeding to bounce away into the grass never to be seen again. After everything was done and said Tristen would find the original Tera crystal cluster was gone as well, a single Fairy Tera Shard left on the ground where it once stood.

"Looks like you defeated your first wild Tera Pokemon, congratulations. Too bad you only got the single shard out of it." GRAY congratulated Tristen.
