Miyuki nodded as she drew from the knowledge gained after first getting Ai. Granted it had been a good while ago when she first read up on Pokemon, but she did recall a bit of her readings.

"They do, though what type abilities depend on their type and what they were taught," she explained, "At least in terms of moves, all of these creatures, these.. Pokemon also each have one ability that is innate, that they do automatically under certain circumstances. They might not even be the same ability even if they're the same species."

Like she knew that Yasu was resistant to fire, but she didn't know being hit by fire increased his own fire attacks. Despite the light show he did after evolving.

"The way Ponydash has the Flame Body ability," Shiro explained to give Kyrie an example. "He's like a horse, really, with flame for a mane and tail ... but he has the ability to make his entire body burst into flame. Burn anyone and anything. But not all Ponytas might have that ability. They could also have the ability to increase their power whenever they encounter fire. That's called Flash Fire."

Kyrie nodded thoughtfully. "And does it depend on gender?" she pressed. "Or the relationship between the Pokemon and its owner?"

If so, it reminded her a bit of the Volcanic dragons, who could only bond with their partner if they were of the opposite gender.

Miyuki frowned slightly and thought about it.

"Not that I know of..." she paused and glanced over to Shiro, "Does it depend on anything or is it just something inherited from a parent?"

She had assumed it was probably the latter, but she didn't know why since among other beings of Gaia it could be quite random.

Shiro shook his head. "Neither. It's completely random. Sure, they may be predispositioned to one or another depending on what abilities their parents have, but even considering that, it's up to chance."

He shrugged. "When it comes to genetics, Pokemon are the weirdest things I've heard of. Even the different races of elves and how they mix together have nothing on them."

A very confused expression crossed Kyrie's face. "I beg your pardon?" she asked blankly.

"I think Shiro is talking about how traits from parents to child get past down," Miyuki explained, "That with Pokemon it can get confusing, and that's saying something because how traits are past down in elves can get confusing."

She didn't know much about genetics so she didn't know how confusing it could get.

"Now that would be interesting to learn about," Kyrie mused. "My brother and I have the same parents, but we're so different ..."

Now it was Shiro's turn to be curious. "Oh? How so?"

Kyrie pursed her lips. "Well ... I suppose we're not as different as I made us sound," she murmured. "What I meant was that I look entirely human, while he looks entirely elven. He's rather taller than me, built like an elf, and has pointed ears - much like your father, Miyuki. And then there's me."

She gestured towards herself. "Average human height, round ears, and not exactly thin."

Of course, she wasn't pudgy either; she was athletically built rather than lithe, was all, and well muscled. Considering her lifestyle, that didn't come as a surprise. Still, she didn't have the delicate look that even the tomboyish Wren had, simply from being elven.

Miyuki did consider Kyrie thoughtfully as she said this.

"That does tend to happen, elven children being more like one parent or another, or one quality of the parent is very much there," she paused thought about the people she knew.

It was then she realized something.

"That doesn't happen in Gaia, it's more like a blend," she glanced at Shiro to see if she was correct.

Simply because she hadn't been around in Gaia all that much, but from her little aunties to Miyu, she noticed that the difference wasn't so stark.

"I wouldn't say that," Shiro mused. "Both here and in Gaia, there are dominant traits, traits that are more likely to be passed down. The only exception I've really seen - that I would say always seems to be an exception - are when Light and Dark Elves mix. It's as if the blood of both races are fighting for dominance and so both emerge."

He smiled as they reached the clinic and Kyrie led the way inside. "But like I've said before. It would be fascinating to study and find out exactly how it works here."

Miyuki nodded at this as she stepped into the clinic. It wasn't something she was familiar with so she listened to what Shiro had to say on the matter.

Once inside though, her mind turned to finding her Uncle Dareon and Aunt Iorlas, and of course her cousin Amir.

Once inside, Kyrie called out her husband's name, and he called back, directing them to the same room where Daeron and Iorlas had been staying for the past two days. When the group entered the room, Ahkshi was chatting with Iorlas, who had the child in her arms, while Daeron was just finishing packing their bags.

"And what's the prognosis?" Kyrie grinned up at Ahkshi. "Good?"

The physician smiled back at her. "Very good. Aside from his s-silence, he seems perfectly healthy. I don't know how l-l-long he was trapped in that b-building, but you seem to have s-saved him in plenty of t-time."

"That's good," Miyuki was relieved.

She wasn't overly worried about him not talking, she was use to people who couldn't talk through people she had met and stories told to her. While she didn't know sign language, she knew most other people in the family did.

"Can they leave the clinic then?"
PostPosted: Thu Jan 02, 2014 7:54 pm

"Oh, yes," Ahkshi laughed. "I wouldn't keep anyone here unless it was truly n-necessary. He'll be f-fine, it will just be a m-matter of t-time."

He put his hands into his pockets and smiled widely at the others. "And that means that I'm d-done here for the day, unless s-s-something happens. If you all d-don't mind, I'd like to c-come with you and m-m-meet the rest of the group. Kyrie's been telling me s-so much about you all, I'm looking forward to meeting everyone."

"Just the good stuff, don't worry," Kyrie grinned, winking at them.

Miyuki grinned at that, "Sure! We just finished setting up camp, though I had come for Uncle Dareon's and Aunt Iorlas' tent so we can set it up for them."

As she said this Yasu peeked around Miyuki's leg. He had never been here before, but to be fair, being in his pokeball all the time there were a lot of places he hadn't been to.

"Well, it looks like we'll be setting up our own tent," Daeron grinned at his niece, putting one arm around her shoulders. "Though I would imagine we could use some help, as your aunt has Amir to take care of now."

"There's no lack of hands, that's for sure," Shiro chuckled. "Though I don't know how much help Kaito or Andarien might be. Kaito's napping, and Andarien's already partitioning off his own area of the tent for his mechanics."

Ahkshi however had just spotted Yasu behind Miyuki, and he knelt down and held a hand out to the Flareon.

"And who is this?" he asked brightly.

"This is Yasu, he's a creature called a Pokemon, from a species called Flareon," Miyuki explained.

As she was doing so, Yasu was sniffing Ahkshi's hand, before giving it a tentative lick.
