I've heard that too. The thing that gets me is why the team is called the fab five. What makes them so special this year?

I was confused about that too, that people would have so much confidence in a team of Olympic first-timers. I think it's because all of them have given strong performances in the past, so there's depth to the team, and people are hopeful that the US will win gold in the team finals for the first time since 1996 (with the magnificent seven).

I didn't think about this before, but some of the people on the team were first in world competitions so I guess there's that. I think Jordan Wieber was one of them.

Yeah, she was 2015's all-around World Champion I think. I'm surprised the Chinese gymnastics team has fallen off the radar.

Man, she must be really good for a time traveler.
Yeah the Chinese and Russians haven't done so well this year. I wonder why.

Oh jeez, you know I meant 2011 emotion_facepalm It took me 30 seconds to figure out what you were saying.
Well, the Chinese and Russians are doing better in the individual events. I think the Russian nabbed gold on the uneven bars and the Chinese won gold on the beam.

Yeah, and Gabby Douglas messed up on the uneven bars so that helped them. I haven't watched the other events yet.

I've actually been watching some Olympic volleyball. I had no idea the net was set so high. We definitely don't set it nearly that high in PE :'D

I don't know how high it's set but the blockers on the team are generally over 6 feet tall.

Dang. I don't know for sure but I think in high school they're around 7 or 8 feet.

I'd be surprised if I could even jump a foot.

You'd probably jump higher if you had the kind of incentive they did.

That's true, the whole mind over matter thing, but they must also have some kind of special training. I have a friend who graduated with me who was on volleyball, and their training always sounded a whole lot more diverse than the stuff we did in tennis.

What do you mean by diverse? I know that our volleyball team does a ton of conditioning and our tennis team only started conditioning this year.
