How is that scary? If anything, wouldn't it make people feel like they could blend in more easily and not worry as much about people like... paying a lot of attention to them?

People tend to post in short threads.
Long Threads generally contain close-knit posters and are hard to break into. Strange mechanics of internet socialisation.

It seems a tad extreme though. I'd like to see more users who join in the discussion rather than just saying hello and lurking.
