I know most of you don't care too much for anthro art... but My socks are still knocked off by THIS recent RL commission I got. Not only was the artist FAST, but she was really friendly and DAMN impressive.... I just wish she was as good with humans as she was with animals/anthros... but nonetheless, I really think I want to commission her again, and relatively soon, before her prices raise >> heart heart heart Edit: http://bovar.deviantart.comEDIT 2: Oh yeah... did I mention that that is done with colored pencils? 0.o/

Mekania That's....really awesome, Sabin. Kinda makes me wish I HAD an anthro character to commission her for. xd whee I can't express how happy I am with the piece AND the artist - I'm currently investigating getting another from her heart And I know what you mean - I started getting into anthro art ... *ponders* two summers ago I think? Yeah, wow - and started drawing it more- but looking around at all of teh AMAZING anthro artists out there, loving animal artwork and having always loved wolves and werewolves, and already being an art whore it really made me want a character to commission. At that point Sabin was my only real close character, and I had a friend who was starting up a Ravenloft campaign who I had spoken about artwork and my fondness for werewolves and he said that I could play a werewolf in his game... and it worked out great - I love Ambrose as a character - he's grown as close to me as Sabin, and I've really enyoyed both working on my own anthro art and having an anthro/were character close to my heart I can commission heart

Mek was originally just a background character in a fanfiction I was writing. Now she kind of owns my soul leaving my other characters to linger neglectedly in the background (I have maybe 10? All from stories I've written). She's just SO much fun to see pictures of. And the pictures of her were what got me hooked into getting commissions. I believe I spent over $200 (at $10 a picture) the first month I started commissioning. Lately, I've been willing myself to branch off a little so I'll be getting some commissions of her mortal rival. And hopefully, another Loish commission of the two of them together. I don't think I'll ever truly be able to part with Mek, I've had her for about 6 years.

I don't think I'll ever truly be able to part with Mek, I've had her for about 6 years. *smiles* That's awesome, Mek smile - and I do know just how you feel. I created Sabin about 5 years ago now, and he's still very very close to me - I've always been a collector, but usually (other than Roleplaying, which is very dynamic) intersts didn't last more than a few years. But with original characters, collecting artwork I think is the most fulfilling type of collection as every piece is so personal and beautiful in its own right. And not to mention, when you put them all together in a portfolio, binder, etc seeing so many different artists' intrepretations is just plain awesome to see different art styles render a similar concept smile . Honestly, ironically, I don't know why it took me so long to realize art commissions were, I dunno, something I could get and get a decent amount of. Ironically, I started when Sabin had already been developed for some time when I was collecting cels - and I saw that some people made fancels of cels that they could never get, or characters who never made appearances in an anime (only the manga). And I had always thought that seeing our storyline as an anime would KICK a**, so I ordered a fancel from an artist. They were expensive, but compared to the cel-collecting hobby, not THAT bad. After I got them: http://arania.kamiki.net/Gift art and Commissions/Sabin fancel copy.jpghttp://arania.kamiki.net/Gift art and Commissions/Sabin and Sam fancel copy.jpghttp://arania.kamiki.net/Gift art and Commissions/Sabin and Creante fancel copy.jpgI was happy with them.... and then I realized at a convention that I could buy non-cel artwork of the characters (and usually for realtively cheaper) - as it was the image I liked moreso than necessarily being drawn on the clear cellulose.... and a monster was born xd It sounds like you've still got some great ideas for commissions on your mind, Mek, and that's awesome. I've gotten to the point of, with a few exceptions of some ideas I need to find the right artist for, most artists I just give the description and let them have fun with posing, etc. Now, I'm really beging to discover that I'm kind of short changed only having male characters that I'm particularly attached to (aside from their SOs - and I still need to find the right artist to do a good couple pic for Ambrose and Angelina)... so I'm hoping that the game that I created Richelle for really picks off the ground, as I really like her concept. Ironically, however, games that I play female characters almost inevitably seem cursed.... I dunno why sweatdrop
