A chef is an artist. They just use food as thier medium instead of paint.

I'm sure I agree with you there a chef is an artist, but I don't agree that a dinner transaction is the same as a commission especially in light of the fact the commissions take place in a big art community where there are friends and enemies, sorry that is nothing like a restaurant. wink

Though both chefs and watercolor artists use kosher salt.
OK, I know. I have nothing constructive to add! lol

Sniping = talking behind someones back.. its attacking someone when they cant defend themselves. You can do it if you want to, and I will respect your right to speak as you will, but I will never respect you as a person.
Anyway, the thread I was referring to, was not sniping... not sure why it was such a big deal now that I actually got to read it, thanks to a friend for the link. I imagined it being much worse because of the reaction to it. Sorry smile

Kimaya Um, I hope I'm not in the list of bad artists who cancelled on Noraboo... I spent 30 hours (a lot of re-working due to all of the problems I had with it) on the piece I canceled, and gave it for free as a way of apology for not completing it as good as I had hoped. Its in my DA gallery... not in my scraps. And anyway, to be honest, even if Im not on this list, I think its rather cowardly to make a snipe thread behind artists back. If you have a problem with an artist, please, give them the respect to bring it to their attention so they can discuss it with you, at least give them the chance to defend themselves. Of course you aren't, you were never anything but wonderful to me and completely polite and upfront regarding everything, and the finished piece you gave me is stunning. :/ I'm really very upset. I was candid to the artist who I mentioned had canceled on me and had left me with the impressions I voiced here, and I have absolutely no intention of 'sniping' or talking about anyone behind their back. I responded to someone's mentioning their concerns about canceled commissions with how I felt about the general situation of artists canceling commissions rudely or without what I consider sufficient explanation. I do not have to justify my views, although I feel I have already done so, amply. I fail to see why this merits now people talking about me behind my back and linking to this thread or the other thread. :edit: And further more, how is this not public?! It is an open guild that anyone can post in, and have friends link to for added sniping punch, as this debacle has amply demonstrated.

Im not sure whats so sinister about looking at the other thread to clear up comfusion about things or how its being presumed people are talking behind norboo's back, but ok smile
And, yes, I agree its time to step back, it was a big mistake to come poke around and see what you all talk about in here, x3.

Nothing sinister about looking at the other tread to catch up on the debate. What I'm concerened about is people leaving the guild and posting links in the forums bringing non guildies into the argument. It's happened before and I don't want it to happen again. Yes, this is a public guild, but the last time that happened, there were several very angry non-guild members who came in and made a big stink and started bad mouthing the guild in the forums and throwing links around.

Well, Im sorry to hear that, it sounds like this guild is meant to be private afterall... maybe it should be if there are certain people you want kept out or certain discussions kept private?
Besides, where was it said a guild member linked to this thread? You guys have a bunch of non-guild people in here already, it sounds like its less of a conspiracy and really more of a misunderstanding.
I don't want to drag this into the ground, Im tired of talking about it and I'm sure you are too. Dont let things ruin your night, take care wink

Kimaya Well, Im sorry to hear that, it sounds like this guild is meant to be private afterall... maybe it should be if there are certain people you want kept out or certain discussions kept private? sweatdrop That's not what I said at all. What happened before was people were sending all thier friends in here to fight for them and it turned into a very big, very ugly mess. I don't want that to happen again. If there is a debate in the guild, between guild members, there really is no reason to take it out of the guild and make it bigger that it has to be. Kimaya Besides, where was it said a guild member linked to this thread? You guys have a bunch of non-guild people in here already, it sounds like its less of a conspiracy and really more of a misunderstanding. I don't want to drag this into the ground, Im tired of talking about it and I'm sure you are too. Dont let things ruin your night, take care wink Again, I never said there was a conspiracy. sweatdrop Someone mentioned that people were linking to threads. I said I didn't like the sound of that--for the reason I just explained above.

Ok. I think that's enough. I'm going to have to ask that this debate not continue any longer. There seems to be a lot of misunderstandings on both sides of the issue, and I don't think anyone is going to change thier minds. I'm going to leave my opinions out of it as I don't really have anything to say that hasn't already been said. If you really want to know what I think, feel free to pm me and I will be happy to give you my voice on the issue.

WoefulInfinity :p My opinion at this point = Ehf. So, anyone read and good literature lately? I've beenr eading Angels in America for class, and it's really awesome. I'm currently reading Before Mao: The Untold Story of Li Lisan and the Creation of Communist China. It's very ineresting so far. 3nodding It's cool because eventhough it's a biography, it reads much like a novel because of the writter's style. :3
