Alec's expression changed into a dopey smile, though he was a little taken aback by Marshall's sudden... enthusiastic outburst. In other words, he wasn't sure how to take it but went along with it. "Well thas no' vereh nice." The teen replied calmly, looking sort of insulted at first though if knew that barnacles didn't exactly take well to sharks in the wild, he would've had a better comeback.
"Ye small, yanno." By now he couldn't help but laugh loudy from a safe distance away in the water. "A' seen worse mate, a' tur'le migh' suit ye!"

"I'm pretty sure I'm taller than you, Fin Rot." Marshall said to the young shark-man with a smirk. It was weird, sitting out in the middle of a jungle having a conversation with a part-fish-part-man-part-leafy thing. Still, it brought a sense of reliefe to Marshall, knowing that no matter how far he went...He'd still be human underneath every thing.
...Right?

"PfftbbHA! A' dou' i'." Alec coyly smirked and stuck out his fleshy tongue at Marshall. He probably was taller like he said, but at this point he'd never admit it. Besides, he swore he'd grown an inch or two the last time he changed. And what was with all those funny names he kept yelling out?
"Ay, ay! Ye so smaw't, 'ow ye work this thing?" The teen motioned to his neck, swimming on his side. He figured he'd start asking around how to properly operate the folds of skin on his neck for breathing, dignity aside. What could be worse than publically thrown out of his own place anyways? Maybe this kid would know.

"Huh? You mean your Gills?" Marshall leaned in to get a closer look...Yep, they were gills all right. Kind of creepy looking on a human for sure. Reminded him of that scene in X-Men.
"Well...Um...I know they seperate the oxygen from water so you can breathe underwater...At least thats what my old Goldfish used his for...So...I guess you just put your head underwater and try to breathe normally." Marshall mused, tilting his head to the side as he inspected Alec's gills.

Alec looked perplexed for a moment, tilting his head to the side to almost mirror Marshall. "A' tried tha' man, an' all a' go' was a good cough." The sharkboy snickered, recalling his efforts at trying to 'breathe like a fish'. They sort of pathetic but looking back on it only gave him amusement. "D'ye make 'em move o' somethin?" He tried not to laugh, as stupid as his last question sounded. He was serious in his cluelessness.

"Uuummmm...Well...I think you move them out and in. Kind of like taking deep breathes from your nose...Only...From your gills instead...Um...I think." Marshall said, trying to remember the goldfish he had for a whoping month before it went belly-up.
Carnival fish made the worst pets.
"Either way you'll probably need practice."

"Fook, ye." Alec nodded, looking mildly disappointed in how little Marshall had helped, though he couldn't blame him. Instead, he merely rolled onto his back again and enjoyed his little soak. He'd never owned a fish himself, so he didn't even have a reference to think back to on how gills worked. It was a such a trivial feature and it was ironic how much it affected him now. "Ah well, s'no' like a' don' 'ave a mouth t'breathe wi' anehways."

Marshall nodded, "Yeah...I guess so. Still, being able to breather underwater would be kind of nifty, right?" he said with a smirk, before looking up at the sun coming through the trees in small spurts. If you moved around enough it'd almost be like a natural strobe light, as silly as that sounds.
"Hmm...So...I wonder what Gaius'll be." Marshall murmered under his breath, enjoying the view.

Alec let the silence of the jungle settle between the two as he enjoyed a lazy roll in the water, much like a basking crocodile or sea otter. "Gaius?" He pronounced awkwardly, figuring there maybe be more newcomers than he'd expected. "A frien' o' yehs?" Funny. Why hadn't he heard the helicopter come in?

"Yeah. He's a nice guy. We got here about the same time, I think." Marshall said, looking back down at his aquatic aquaintance. "I'll introduce him to ya if we ever run into each other back in the duplexes." he added, smiling. Completely oblivious to the current situation at hand.
...It figures.
"Speakin' of which, its getting kind of late...I think I'm gonna head back. Care to come?" Marshall asked, extending a hand to the shark-boy who was still swimming.

Alec's eyes trailed down to Marshall's outstretched hand, hearing the friendly offer. Even though he knew the news of his punishment had most likely evaded the ears of the few newcomers, he still felt the aching pain. He didn't want him to leave him there, alone. He'd had enough with the sick game. He wanted to go home.
As the sharkboy's grey eyes began to sting he quickly dunked his head into the cool water, resurfacing in much the same area as before. "Neh." He spoke with a smile, unable to formulate some fake excuse. "A'll catcheh lateh though?"

Marshall's face imidiatly went from happy to concerned. Marshall knew that the boy was upset about..some thing. But what?
"Um...Okay. I'm down at Duplex 59, okay? Don't hesitate to drop by if you need any thing...And I'll look up on how to use your gill things, too. Alright?" Marshall said with a smile, but he was obviously troubled.
"See ya soon." Marshsall said, waving as he walked away slowly.
...I'm the worst.

Alec nodded in acknowledgement and offered a wave. Despite his amusing outburst, he decided that he was a pretty nice guy, even if he was desperate for social interaction. Of course, his offer merely stirred a slew of upset and the boy watched him leave until he couldn't see his shadow amongst the foliage any longer.

New RP
Despite the rather mucky, humid conditions of the jungle that now seemed strangely familiar to him, Alec was enjoying his day alone by the river. The day was like no other day but he took the mundaine nature as a comforting version of changelessness. If nothing strange or exciting happened, he could safely say it was a good day on the island.
Even now the boy was scrounging for food by the riverbank, cheerfully even, as dark eyes kept sight on the flowing water for any sign of a fish easily within range for an efforted attack.

Sid walked along the river's edge, keeping out of the water for the sake of his cane and his jeans. The fit of inspiration that had seized him earlier was gone, leaving him feeling restless. Even the painkillers couldn't quite snuff that out, though if he really wanted he could have put himself into one hell of a stupor. Instead, surprisingly, he fell back on using just enough to make his knee stop hurting and didn't even bother with the whiskey casher. Little flukes like that almost made him feel like a responsible adult.
As he walked he kept his eyes on the water, hoping to find a nice secluded place to wade in, a spot where he could roll up his pant legs without worrying about someone seeing the scars.
That idea was shot when he spotted someone up ahead. The gray skin threw him off, at least until he got a little closer. "Holy hell," he muttered to himself. And yet that didn't stop him from approaching- slowly, with no sudden movements.
