Xenon hit the ground, the leafs swirling around him, each one struck with time to spare. The blazing setting sun rimmed with crimson as each leaf hit the earth about him, gently settling on the grass. He wiped some gather sweat from his brow and started back up the trunk. He was showing now his time at the academy. Before, when he'd been but a weak little civilian, this would have seemed impossible to him... but now, after his time her in Oto, he was actually more than capable... It was strange in a way to find one's self had changed so...but at the same time...it was also rewarding.
DC:10 Train:5/5 Roll:12+1+1=14
Kimiko smiled widely to herself, none of her usual jumping or celebrating, not even a dramatic monologue. Her mother was genuinely surprised. As Her daughter stood and began to try and put the jutsu to practical use, she was actually looking more mature than her mother could recall seeing her. True Kimiko had never been as bad as her father, but she'd most certainly followed in his footsteps. Perhaps she was seeing another side of her Kimiko had never shown her before...or maybe there was another reason... Either way, she wasn't leaving without her daughter. Without someone to bring her home, she might just stay out here till dawn.

Xenon whirled about as he landed. Faster...he had to be faster... his brain had reached an impasse. No matter how hard he thought about the only answer was for him to be faster. The best he could do was knuckle down, be patient, and let his training take it's course. The results would be well worth the effort... of this he was certain. The Genin exams were closing in and if all went well tomorrow he'd meet the qualifications... but being just enough wasn't his style... he wanted to show up and blow the rest away... in order to do that, he needed to be ready to work till his eyes couldn't open...and fancy that, he was prepared for it. Xenon walked back up the tree, his pace more hurried now... he wasn't going to stop till he was successful...

"Bushin no Justu!" Kimiko shouted, putting all her effort into it, wanting to be successful in her practical application..." She staggered slightly as she felt a lot of her energy drain, but stared in awe as four clouds of smoke appeared before her, and from them four perfectly crafted Kimiko Bushins. "Oh...Oh wow!" She said her natural self showing through "That's...that's so cool!"
Kimiko's mother was leaning in the shadow of the tree's with a smile on her face. 'Silly girl...she put too much chakra into it...she'll collapse if she keeps that up...' still, she couldn't help but be proud if her daughter. Kimiko had never been good with jutsu, but here she was using the jutsu that some students failed on in the final exam, on her first shot at actually using it...more, she'd over killed it. Kimiko herself looked happy too.
'Hah! That's twice as many as Maboroshi had!' All her clones smiled at her and gave the victory sign at her mental bidding.

Xenon this time landed finesse, he gold eyes flashing as the leafs fell and hit the ground around him... he'd done well that time, almost perfectly, he'd had time to hit all the leaves twice except for two... Xenon took a brief reprieve to catch his breath, but did so while making his way back up into the branches of the oak. He felt the wind change course, a breeze from across the field gently brushing him by. The whole scene was one of golden radiance as the sun set on the village of Oto, but Xenon couldn't really say it touched him in any special way. He, you see, didn't particularly hold any love for the village of Otogakure. It didn't hold his respect, heart, or fealty. It simply held his gratitude. That was all that kept him bound to Oto, that and nothing more.
Xenon wasn't the type to get patriotic and sentimental, he had no illusions about this country or its people. What made them different from any other country? Nothing, it was just by fortune that he came to serve under Oto banner...

As Kimiko's chakra yet again shone gas like in the air, three more of herself appeared before her. Her four already made clones applauded with glee even as she sunk in her stance slightly and started breathing heavily.
Her mother meanwhile just shook her head like she'd expected this. 'I knew it...honestly that girl needs some restraint... now she'll need to rest before she can try again.' Sure enough, she saw her daughter sink into a sitting position as her seven clones danced about her, one bursting into smoke. It was near impossible to maintain more than six regular bushins, the jutsu just wasn't made for it. Kimiko began her rest with a big smile on her face while her mother just grinned dully. 'Incorrigible child...'

That was not to say of course he would betray Oto, quite the contrary. He held no patriotism for the village, and didn't think it any better than it's neighbors, but he also didn't care. Oto was the village that took him in and trained him, and he would not repay such a thing with evil or scorn. He would serve the village well, but he would first and foremost serve his own desires. Serving Oto was simply one of those desires.
One could call him a fickle friend, but it also meant he would stick by Otogakure when many others would not... it was all in how events played out. He hit the last leaf and tumbled unto the ground, his balance restoring itself at once as he finished the dive. The leaves fell behind him and one was torn clean in two. Xen cracked his neck and before returning up the tree, he was so far from his goal...but it didn't matter... he would see it through to the end...
Resting post:
Kimiko was breathing in deeply, her chakra slowly regaining in strength. Her six clone were reduced to four and two curiously poked one another and dispersed. These four were now gather about her, staring at her innocently as though they'd not a care in the world but to follow her will...which now Kimiko thought about it...they probably didn't.
Her green eyes closed as she really considered what she'd done. In a matter of hours she'd master two jutsu...well, this one she was still working out the kinks but, eh. The point was it was her enemy who'd helped her do this, and she still couldn't figure out why. Maboroshi was not the type of person to help other unless he got something out of it. He could have easily found someone else to spar with him, he probably could have even just tricked her into attacking him like she had... so why go through all this...?

Xenon's hands cut the air, in this attempt her gave it his all with a single goal in mind. Relying on pure mindless speed, whipping his arms and eyes about, he hit each twice, before, landing straight on his feet, he landed. The ten leaves once more sprinkled around him, and a wind picked up to blow the across the grounds. He felt like he should be exhausted...but for some reason his success had only renewed his drive to train, had only made him more determined then ever to keep going. He flexed his fingers and headed into the branches, the footsteps up now familiar to him, yes...he felt renewed... but this was still only the beginning...
Resting Post:
Kimiko's mother was now sitting in the shadow of the tree, her presence still unnoticed as she watched her daughter. Her face had once more become patiently dull, and she was actually half tempted to try and help her daughter...but she'd decided against it. How ironic. Her husband was the one who said they should let her be her own person, but he was also the one who refused to train her, despite how much help they could provide her. Maybe it was part of his "THE ROAD TO SUBLIME YOUTH IS A ROAD WALKED ALONE, ONLY THEN CAN YOU WALK WITH OTHERS!" but in her opinion their daughter was already at "Sublime Youth" but what she needed was someone to teach her and prepare her for the upcoming Genin Exams... the time was close at hand, and she knew her daughter wasn't even close to being ready...

DC:10 Train:10/10 Roll:16 Training Complete
Finish a final move Xen actually snatched each leaf from the air and held them them in his hand as he hit the earth, his legs cushioning his fall to a mere bump. He adjusted his posture and let the leaves fall from his hand unto the earth. He'd done well...but if his guess wasn't too far off, his training was only...perhaps 10% completed... maybe less, before his speed was what he desired it to be for the exams... that wasn't even taking into account the other things he intended to work on... and he still had to help Kimiko with the academy Jutsu... yes...the next few weeks would be interesting...to say the least.
Resting Post:
Kimiko slowly got to her feet, stretching her arms and legs while her clones surrounded her, awaiting eagerly for orders. She raised her hand and they all seemed like god himself was about to speak. "Okay! Line up!" The clones formed a line in front of her. "Okay you guys! When i say what do we fight you say Love and justice!! Okay!?"
Her clones all saluted with brilliant smiles "Okay!" they replied enthusiastically.
"What do we fight for!?"
"Love and Justice!"
"What do we fight for!?"
"Love and Justice!"
Kimiko looked thrilled "Oh this is so cool! I can't wait to master this justu!" she pointed to them again "Alright! Let's get this done with!"
"Get this done with!" They chorused in unison.
Kimiko's mother just put a hand over her face exasperated. That was the same old Kimiko she knew and loved alright.

Xenon stood his eyes examining Kimiko from the other side of the small pond. She was intent in her work and didn't seem to notice him. He eyes fell to the water itself and narrowed, an idea he'd been wanting to test for a while coming into his head. He was already more the able to walk up trees, it had become child's play to him, with his level of chakra control... would walking on water really be so difficult? He knew of course walking on water was far more complex, it required a far sharper mind and the ability to adjust the flow of chakra constantly, on an unconscious level.
But if his days of training in the Kai release technique had taught him anything, it was that his chakra was a part of him, and while he'd barely tapped into it's true potential, it was his closest ally, and deadliest weapon. He concentrated, his eyes showing no signs as chakra ran to base of his feet, and he set foot on the water.
Walking on Water DC:30 Formula:1d20+chakra control Chakra Control:24 Roll:19+24=43
Xenon was actually surprised at how easily it came. This was...childishly simple...or so he would have thought. But the more he thought about it the more he realized. To someone with his level of intelligence, chakra control came naturally, and with chakra control, even the most difficult tasks became remedial... he set foot further onto the water, walking as though he was strolling down the street. The Water seemed to him as pavement, the chakra coating his feet keeping him perfectly balanced. He had to admit... he was impressed with himself... he reached other side of the pond and approached Kimiko, watching her with his usual mellow calm.

Kimiko was pleased as two clones appeared, one vanishing almost immediately due to their numbers. She was getting the hang of this. You just had to control how much chakra you put into the justu, and that controlled how many bushin appeared. She didn't even notice Xen had returned until he called out to her. She looked around and smirked victoriously, her clones doing the exact same.
"Ha! See this Maboroshi! Six clones! That's way more than your two."
"Way more!" Her Chakra made cheer squad chorused.
But Kimiko's Mother, still hiding in the shadows, was watching the boy slightly wary. 'That kid...' she looked back at the water. 'He can already walk on water...I wasn't able to do that well into my Genin years... she said Maboroshi... is her nemesis?' She watched the triumphant smile on her daughters face as she went on a tangent to the youth, who she was now willing to bet had helped her daughter with these jutsu. The boy seemed rather unruffled in the face of Kimiko's cheerful rantings and merely said, after stylishly pushing up his glasses
"Momoe-san...I'm headed home, I'll leave this Jutsu to your clearly superior skills. Meet me here tomorrow and we'll move onto the next Jutsu."
Kimiko crossed her arms, her bushins making childish faces at him "Whatever your planning I will discover it..."
"Discover it!"
She pointed at him heatedly, her cheer clones eyes burning with passion "You'll regret teaching me these Jutsu when I use them to defeat your selfish and heartless ways!"
"Selfish and Heartless ways!"
Xenon just waved a good bye a strange little smile on his face as he headed off toward the main road out of the grounds...

Xenon's eyes flashed somewhat, his habit of running chakra through them causing them to shimmer iridescent in their already golden color. It didn't effect his vision any, his eyes were sharp enough on there own, it wasn't even a conscious move. The chakra coils that ran through his eyes were simply unusually developed due to his predisposition toward genjutsu, and often filled with chakra when he experienced a fluctuation in mood or awareness. This time it was a little of both.
For just a moment there... he blinked few times before readjusting his glasses and continuing on his way. He could have sworn he saw someone concealed in the shadows... but then, perhaps it was his imagination, he must have been tired from training... He'd go home and rest up for tomorrow, after all, he'd be dealing with Kimiko early in the morning...and that was never good sign if you were hoping for a headache free day...
Kimiko's mother was leaning against the back of the tree, opposite the side facing the boy. That had been close...he'd almost spotted her... maybe she was losing her touch in retirement...or... he eyes narrowed 'Maybe that kid's no ordinary academy student...' she turned her eyes sideways. 'Maybe I should look into this...after all...' she turned her head in her daughters direction. 'Whether it's as an enemy or a friend, he seems pretty close to Kimiko...'

Kimiko and her clone composed mocking birds raised a hand in victory as she created two more clones, replacing two other which disappeared as the next were created, and still felt fine. "This is great! I've really got this down!"
"Really got this down!" Her clones parroted looking as excited as she.
"This is gonna be so cool! I can summon you guys whenever I want!"
"Whenever you want!" they cheered.
"Okay! One more try and I leave with my head held high!"
"With you're head held high!"

Three more clones appeared and Kimiko raised hand in triumph, all the clones following suit, before the chakra exhaustion got to her...and she collapsed backwards, her clones disappearing still with smiles on their faces.
Kimiko's mother sighed. She crossed her arms standing over her daughters sleeping form and muttered "We're not going to make a habit out of this are we?" she put a palm to her forehead "This child..." with ease she picked her daughter and hoisted her over her shoulder as she'd done on previous night's she'd collapsed. Xenon got up early that next morning, hoping to get some training in before Kimiko came to him beating him up over learning a new jutsu. His cup of coffee in hand he sipped it leisurely as he strolled up to giant oak he'd been training at yesterday. Even if Kimiko did come early, she'd probably find him this close by if she started looking about. He gazed up at the enormous tree and let the chakra flow into his feet, hopping off the ground with one foot and landing flat foot on the trunk with the other. Holding his coffee horizontal and sipping it side ways out of his mouth he made his way up the tree and set foot on the branch above, snatching leaves calmly with his free hand... It was time to get to work, and he wasn't going to let a little thing like "Sleep deprivation" spoil a perfectly good morning to train.

Xenon crunched up the paper cup which held his coffee and tossed it over his shoulder, his concern for littering infinitesimal even when compared to something as remedial as, let's say, the life of an ant crawling across his shoe. He tossed the leaves and leapt after them, his hands zipping through the air as he fell. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, and ten.
He hit the ground with time to spare and rotated his shoulder working off his morning stiffness. Not bad for first thing in the morning. He started to head back up when his eyes flashed, glowing briefly for a moment, and he turned round facing another direction.
A figure emerged from the behind the oak's trunk. The figure was holding something in her left hand...
Kimiko's mother held up his crushed paper cup "It's not nice to litter kid." She closed her hand around the cup and it slowly charred away into ash.

Xenon frowned his disposition changed. He fell serious now. "Well we can't all be so talented as to burn our garbage using chakra manipulation..."
Kimiko's Mother gave simple chuckle, half hearted and lazy, but pleasant enough. "I suppose you've got a point."
To tell the truth...Xenon was slightly nervous. But then it had already been established he didn't like people stronger than him... they made him jumpy. What's more he liked it even less when they came up out of nowhere. And this attractive woman had done just that. Xenon's eyes gave her the once over. She appeared to be in her late thirties early forties, but didn't show it much, she still seemed rather slim and youthful, but the look in her eyes and way she composed herself gave her away. Her expression looked very similar to Xenon's usual default, but her dull exterior seemed more tired while his was more indifferent. "Can I help you with something Ma'am?"
She scoffed slightly leaning against the tree "Tsch, don't call me ma'am...makes me feel damn old...Sanako's fine." She reached into the coat she was wearing over her dress and pulled out a box of cigarette's "I've got something I wanted to ask you about kid..."
Xenon put his hands in his pockets "Well then Sanako...don't call me kid, makes me feel damn young...Xenon's fine, or Xen if you prefer." Sanako looked at him and gave subtle grin. "What is it you wanted to ask me?"
Sanako slid out on of the cigarette's from the box with a shake of her wrist. "It's concerning my daughter...Kimiko." Xenon actually fell more at ease, his eyebrow raising. "Mind if I smoke?"
Xenon turned back to the tree "Not at all, mind if I train?"
Sanako shrugged lighting the cig in her mouth with chakra. "Knock yourself out."
DC:10 Train:2/10 Roll:18
Xenon landed after his little ritual was complete, each leaf struck. Sanako blew out a ring of smoke, her face indifferent. "Pretty good..." She remarked.
Xenon eyed her sidelong "What about Momoe-san?"
Sanako nodded "Right, not one to beat around the bush, I like that." she looked at him more seriously "What's your relationship with my daughter?"

Xenon's balance was challenged in mid air and half the leaves went unstruck. He landed slightly perturbed. Sanako blinked "Did my question bother you?"
Xenon gave her a fake smile "Oh no Sanako, it was merely your exceptional beauty which broke my focus."
Sanako breathed out a rush of smoke, her expression unchanged "Smooth." she said sarcastically.
Xenon immediately went more serious. "Why are you so interested? Are you under the impression we're somehow romantically involved and come to flay me alive?"
Sanako gave another subtle smile "That would be my husband if he was here...no...I'm not so gullible...I know that look in your eye...it's the same as mine used to be." Xenon looked back as he was climbing the tree. "You don't care for anyone or anything that doesn't interest you, you live and work toward indulging your own desires...am I in the right ball park?"
Xenon actually smirked "I'll admit, you're good."

Xenon gave a smile "Are you sure you raised Momoe-san, you seem to understand me a bit to well."
Sanako sighed exhaling smoke "I understand you better than you yourself might..." she gave him a look that made Xenon feel...odd, it was almost a kindred look. "But that doesn't have to do with my original question...what's my daughter mean to you?"
