:::There was only one person in the world who got him this upset, and it was always her. Kal got right up to her face, he nearly spit. His voice lowered to a murmer, nearly a repressed shake:::
You don't know what the hell you're talking about.
:::Then he put his palm to her neck and shoved her aside, rather more forcefully than he needed to. But that was they way they always faught. Kara didn't understand it any other way:::

::She nearly stumbled as Kal shoved her by the neck, but she emerged standing, and unscathed by his display of anger:::
Don't I!? You're pissed off at me, because I go ahead and do what I like around here. But YOU treat the place like it's under slik*. Like you're afraid to touch something so delicate. But that's your problem right there! We're here for a reason, that's what the stories say about the rest of them. It's about time you accepted that it's not a story about your precious little heroes anymore. We're in it now. Wether we like it or not. So why don't you just suck it up already?
:::She grabbed the collar of his entirely non-royal looking shirt, which he so commonly wore, and used it as leverage to get herself close to him:::
Let me tell the elders. It's KILLING me, Kal. They should know, they should wake up from their little haze of perfection that is The Brink of Time, and so should you! If they're so devout, they should know exactly what it is they're worshiping.
:::She made to toss him away by pushing him at the collar she was holding on to, but he was so much bigger than she was, that she just ended up shoving herself back a step or two:::
But you're so thick, that actually BEING here isn't enough of an eye-opener.

No! This ISN'T just fun and games, no matter how much you want it to be, sister. This is serious. We're talking about the reality that is the basis for everything our people believe. We can't just go and ******** it up for them. Not now, they need something to believe in!
::He was still really angry, but he had stopped trying to make a break for the door now:::

:::Kara's expression appeared as though something slimy just crawled out of Kal's face while he spoke:::
Are you listening to yourself?! Maybe those little twits were right!
:::At this point, her fists were clentched, and she had to stop herself from shaking:::
You're honestly willing to let everyone go on believe something that isn't true, just because it's easier that way!?
:::she paused for longer than she meant to after that, and it resulted in her having a nervous twitch. Suddenly her hand came up, and slapped him square across the face:::
Maybe you DO belong with the Tropos.
:::She turned around and started walking for the door:::

Oh, so that makes me a liar now, right??
:::He shouted angrily to her back:::
I lie to people, so I can control them. So that makes me just like you, right?
:::He realized just how below the belt that was, but too late. It had already come out. He braced himself for her reaction:::

::The cold truth made Kara pause, just long enough for Kal to notice. It was a c***k in her armor apparently. Deep down she knew he always thought he was so much better a human being than her. He wasn't the only person to think this, but he WAS the only person who could make Kara doubt herself:::
:::But she didn't turn around. She didn't say anything, or make any motion of wanting to communicate with him any further. Kara simply shuddered, and attempted to stop herself from crying on the spot. She'd be returning to a conversation about something or other, that wasn't really important, but she had to appear interested in it now.:::
:::Kara proceded to the key wrack, grabbed her key, and left through the door:::

:::When the door slammed behind her, Kal clentched his fists and gritted his teeth. He was angry at her, very much so, but not nearly as angry at her as he was at himself. Why, he wasn't sure yet. Maybe there were too many reasons to pick just one. But one thing was for sure, he didn't feel like what Kara just told him helped him feel more like 'endulging' in anything happy.:::
:::After a little while of standing there feeling restless, he gave up, and he too got his key off the wrack, and exited to his solitude:::
*Exit Kal*

Luana faded in, still a little stunned from the display of magic that she had just witnessed. She looked around the Brink, but it was empty. She sighed and sat in a chair, then set to work examining the necklace.

*cross fades in sitting cross legged under a table, He blinks at the sudden lack of a tavern brawl then turns to see a pair of legs, undoubtedly female though they are clad in a pair of indigo trousers of some rough fabric... Hwe seemed to recall Mister lucas owning a pair... but these legs were crertainly not his. *cross shifts himself and rises into a chair* Pardon me, lass I hope I am not interupting anything *he smiles at her... he recognizes her but he can't quite wrap his togue around her name...

Luana was startled by the pirate's sudden appearance, but smiled none the less.
"Oh! Captain... Cross, right?" Her memory may have been fuzzy, but the name seemed right. "It's alright, I just got here." She glanced under the table. "How long were you under there?"

"Luana," she said. "Luana Rae. Actually, my friends at home just call me Lu. And this..."
She let the stone dangle by the chain between them. "Was given to me, only a moment ago, by Mystina and her mother, the queen of Faeries." She watched the rainbows dance within the darkness of the stone. "Pretty, don't you think?"

The chain is long enough that she can just pull it over her head again without worrying about the clasp, and again it hangs between her breasts, just a couple inches lower than the platinum pendant that her angel had given her, which was safely hidden under her shirt.
"It suits me?" She holds the stone itself in one hand. "Really? Why is that?"
