I can't wait to play this game.. and by the time I get a wii, the game will be out. I hope they put Luigi back in.. though I believe the veterans from the very first game have a great chance of returning. Oh well.. rambling.. awesome game SSB <3.

I'm disappointed with Peach's FS.. I just hope the 'sleep' side affect lasts longer than Jigglypuff's atleast. ;/ And I hear her moves were nerfed..

PITY smash?! What the Hell?! o.o

This will definitely mix up matches and make them more unpredictable, but it just seems like a really cheap idea to me.

However, I do like that you can force someone to lose their Final Smash if you attack them before they use it. There's a lot of strategy that's going to go into this item, but it makes me fear that now the whole match will focus on the use of the Smashes, and it will change what we loved about the previous games: frantic, fast attacks, unbelievable recoveries, KO'ing through skill and not the lucky use of one item or move.

Yes, I argue for the use of items in tournaments, but the Final Smash is essentially the embodiment of what all the purists have been complaining about before.

Actually, the FSs are needed. Turning them off would be like playing all the tournaments in single button mode. It's just stupid.
FSs are made to balance the weaker characters with the stronger ones.
A prime example of this is Metaknight's FS and Bowser's FS.

I REALLY hope that the Smash Ball is tournament legal. Otherwise the game once again becomes unbalanced.

That said, I can see why you'd want to turn them off for casual play. Especially if the Pity FS can't be turned off.
I agree....they should most definetly keep FRS's in tournaments because like you said it is making certain chars way to unbalanced...but I can already see people complaining that it counts as an item scream

Yea, but some items would be good for tournament play. The only reason they were taken out was the exploding capsules/boxes.

Pichu and Mewtwo would be MUCH higher tier with items legal. Items were meant to balance the game, but with them taken out, the tiers become much more defined.
Now this can't be helped, as the exploding capsules and crates put a lot of luck into the mix.
If these can be turned off, items might just be tournament legal. Which I sincerely hope for.

Yep, the main reason for items being taken out were the randomly exploding things. Not so much the explosion, but just because they were random.

In Brawl, I can't remember if I saw capsules at all, but I know that the crates were clearly marked for explosion. For this reason, I can tell that it is possible that there will be items in some tournaments. However, I'm positive that there will be some items not allowed in tournaments. There isn't a list yet since we don't have the game, but I'll assume that the ones involving almost anything random will be banned in tournaments (smart bomb, golden hammer, regular hammer, etc...) and more importantly, the curry. Gimpyfish of smashboards said that it was a "broken item" because you could attack while spewing flames, which pretty much negates any type of approach or combo breaker you can dish out.

I think Final Smashes could very well be a game balancer, and I really hope to see how they turn out. The pity smash really doesn't seem like a problem to me at all.

One more thing, they say Bowser isn't nearly as bad compared to the rest of the group as he was in Melee. His Klaw does around 17% and is much faster, and his forward air attack comes out way faster two (you can do a full jump and complete two).

Yes, I saw the explosion mark. Good addition to say the least.

Yea, I know about the Curry. I've read his thread.
He said it was better than getting a star in the demo. But he also mains Bowser. Anyone with a good aerial SHOULD be able to disrupt it.
Having not played the game, I don't know though. Seems like it would work in theory.

I can see how the pity FS could be a problem for some, but I honestly don't care much.

I think that people should do what they see fit in order to play to their style of fighting. As long as they dont put down other opinions about it.

And without losing the aspect that smash tries to bring forth.

Let's say you play two minute brawls.

You get like a minute of fighting then an entire thing of chacing the FS. Then game over. Do it again and again. From what the E for all showed, every match has a FS....
It's taking over the game in my opinion and I think turning them on will be once in a while for me.

If you play stock it's a different situation then.

This is based on a personal preference, so it depends on what kind of match you want to play on that determines the outcome of how you play.

Fish sees it how I do. No matter what I'm doing FS will stay on. The Balance of items keeps it so that others can't use advanced techs on characters who cant do a thing edge wise.

Plus if someone is after a smash ball they will be determined to get it, so thats the chance you have to attack the foe while they are disoriented.
