Now this Hiru really didn't have any problems with. He even had a few bloodline limits of his own! The only one he had seen to this day though was his ability to breath underwater. He knew he had something about weapon when he'd get older but that was still to come, and he had a lot of training to do until then. This was going faster than Hiru ever thought it would, he was already at the last chapter. It's goal was to put everything in perspective, to teach you that the concept of chakra and ninjutsu is whole and not only different independant notions.

Cassie hopped off her chair, and headed to the students to see how they were doing. She wandered first to Kiketsu's table. He was almost halfway through the chapter which was good. This bunch of students certainly had the will to learn, and didn't waste any time!

"Suiton, huh?"
she murmured from behind him. "Our village specialty. Water is fluid and flows well. It's easier to control than say destructive elements like fire or lightning, but with great skill it can be just as dangerous... like I said, Kiketsu-kun. This is only an introduction. You'll learn so much more about it from your genin sensei, if you choose to pursue the path of ninjutsu." With that said, she nodded to herself and went off to Hiru's table to see how he was doing.,

He was doing unbelievably well for well, a Hoshigaki. Not that Cassie meant any offence to them or anything... in fact, she would stop thinking of them in that way now.

"Great job Hiru-kun!"
she said encouragingly. "If you have any questions, you can always ask me. After this, I'll be teaching you the hand seals."

[+3 to Kiketsu and Hiru's next roll

...I can't think of anything remotely helpful for Hiru. Because he's almost finished... Dx Umm... her speech was motivating. Yeh..]

Midori laughed a bit at Cassie's comment. It was weird that the Sensei thought that she was a boy. "My name is Midori Kane. I'm fairly new." Midori quickly stated in response to the sensei's question. She quickly grabbed the book and immediately caught her interest.

Midori opened the book and began to read about different things about ninjutsu. She soon found herself wondering about what jutsu did and why it was like magic. She kept reading on and on finding herself become very interested in the book.

Hiru had finally done it, he was done with the book. It was the first time he had actually finished something as thick as this.

"Cassie-sensei! I'm done with the book!" he shouted across the room, not really realizing he could be disturbing all of the other students who were reading. "I'm ready to mold chakra now!", he added.

Hiru walked up to her desk and handed her the book while scratching a bit. He had read about the hand signs and was now as ready as ever to get started with them. He was even doing a few of them in front of her in na particular order.

"When do we start?", he asked, smiling.

"Cassie- sensei! I'm done with the book!" the voice of Kiketsu's neighbor made him cringe slightly. His pupils wandered over slightly to deep sea child to see him closing his text book and carrying it to the teacher. "How could he be done already...." the reptile like boy wondered. He had always thought of sharks to be on the slower side when it came to using the brain. Yet now he'd have to retract that belief. A shark just beat him in reading.

A tinge of aggravation went through Kiketsu's mind. He'd expected himself to finish first. Or at least to be close. Being outdone was never a feeling this youth liked. Still he allowed those feelings to drift away and went back to reading. In the back of his mind though Kiketsu would have to scan this itching fish.

Kiketsu heard his teacher's answers and kept them locked in his mind. He agreed with her once his eyes began to scan the words of the Suiton element. In terms of pure destruction, katon and raiton had it beat. What was most interesting about this element though was its adaptability. It could be used from the oceans, to the rain drops in the sky and perhaps even from liquid in a person's blood.

What did perplex Kiketsu though was the fact that Suiton was classified as different from ice jutsus. Weren't they one in the same. Well as by the text book not. He continued to read over the same paragraphs of both elements, but it just wasn't sinking in.

Midori went on to ready some more but found herself reading over the same few pages again and again. She didn't mind it. She glanced up and noticed one classmate was done. She then focused back on the book.

About around his fifth time reading both passages did Kiketsu finally begin to understand. Focusing more on the hyouton affinity, his mind began to take in the little information that was on the skill. There wasn't much on it in the first place. The family that had this ability were basically extinct. The ice skills were a blood inheritance, which meant only they could master such techniques.

This made the boy relieve a sigh or gloom. It was fascinating, but was irrelevant if there was no way he could learn their jutsus. "Sensei. Is there a way to learn Hyouton skills or is it only limited to those with the blood inheritance?" his lips asked without looking up from his task. Maybe there was a loophole that wasn't stipulated within the pages of text. Perhaps a better question is that if she knew of a way, would she tell a student?

Kiketsu continued to read.

Fingers turned another sheet bringing a new topic to the serpent child's eyes. Much information wasn't given on Hyouton and Mokuton skills so there wasn't a need to spend much time on it. If only shinobi of the right blood could learn their skills then the only reason to study them would be to find ways of neutralizing them. That is what Kiketsu believed.

The next topic would be one to peak his interest. Kinjutsu. The forbidden arts. It was something his mind had pondered for a while. The whole purpose of banning a skill just brought a dark allure about it that you had to learn it. Of course none were listed. It maybe a list of only a few jutsu, but they power they contained must be unimaginable. Every village must have one technique banned from all except its creator.

"Also sensei, what kinjutsu does Kiri have?" his voice breathed out. Depending on the secrecy of techniques, she may just not give him an answer. Still if her expressions failed for a second and Kiketsu could pick up on them that would all he needed to confirm the truth. There would be kinjutsu in Bloody Mist for him to learn.

Kiketsu could feel he was nearing the end of the chapter. His eyes and mind began to pick up pace reading through the next section. The section was not as important as important to the boy as the other parts. It was a ranking of certain ninjutsus and how ninjutsus were ranked.

Much of the system had to do with the technicality of the move and the chakra needed yo do it. There were some exceptions depending on the effects of the skill and the ability one would need to use it in actual combat. There were ranked from E to S classes. E being the most simple that academy students should know before graduating such as the Bunshin and Henge. S being Kage level jutsus. The most supreme techniques resided in S ranks and it would take many years to master some of those skills.

Kiketsu began to contemplate himself a few years from now and how many jutsu he could have mastered by then. He also wondered how long it would take for him to create a jutsu of his own, unique to only himself and with his aspirations behind it. Then maybe...

Returning from his mind to the pages Kiketsu turned to the next page.

Kiketsu had reached the last section which was solely for hand seals. There were twelve in all, each representing an animal from the zodiac. Each one unique in their use and thus creating unique jutsu. Thousand of techniques able to be created by different combinations of these signs. Yet they were no easy feat to learn. To grasp the techniques one needed to perfect their hand movements. One must also memorize what each seal represented. It was a task that began to bewilder Kiketsu's mind.

They were all unique, which is what brought the problem. Each one had to be memorized to perform correctly. The pale boy would not move ahead till he could get the seals memorized.

Green eyes trailed over and over the words again until his brain was beginning to consume the knowledge. Rereading it helped, but his great aid was remembering when his sister would practice her hand seals. His mind wandered off to those times of when Midoru would practice them on her own, because there was no one else to teach her.

Kiketsu would watch from a shadow thinking that he was well hidden till the girl blew his cover. Then her lips began telling him of each sign. Of how the first sign was rat and was associated with the month of November. The tiger sign was closely related to fire elements. How horse was the hardest seal for her to pull off and her preference for the rabbit seal because it was related to her birthday. How the snake seal marked the direction of south, south east. The old days of long ago.

Realizing that his fingers had already turned to the second chapter, the boy closed the pages of the text. Like the eager and overzealous itching student, Kiketsu was ready to learn more and not from a book. Since the shark toothed boy had already stated he was ready for the next step, there was no reason for violet haired child to repeat the same. Instead he continued to sit in his seat with as perfect of posture a ten year old could do with both hands intertwined before his face. His eyes slowly took in the other two students who entered after him. They still had quite the number of pages to go. "I'm done sensei." his voice stated clearly and boldly.

[Oops. Haha.. and I said "you're definitely no boy" Scrouton D: XD]

"Ah, Kane-chan," she said with a nod. "Nice to meet you!" Ah, her class was getting busy... and Cassie loved it! Her attention was diverted to back to Hiru who had finished, it seemed.

"Great job, Hiru-kun!" she said. "Well, you still have to learn the hand seals first. But you already know a couple! That's encouraging. Wait here." She crossed over to the bookshelf again and got out the next book. It was a lot thinner than the one they had just read. In fact it was only 12 sides long. One side for each hand seal... the pages were laid out with a nice, bright illustration of the seals, tips for not getting it wrong and an explanation of what each seal could do. She took four of these thin almost-leaflets so that she wouldn't have to repeat the journey, and returned to Hiru.

"Here's another book, Hiru, but it's only a learning aid. If you honestly don't feel like reading, you can ask me to make the seals and learn from me. But the pictures inside really help a lot, and the tips will prevent lots of small mistakes, like which hand goes over which and stuff like that," she said kindly. With the books tucked under her arm, she began to wander about her class, looking out for people with questions. Kiketsu soon called out another question, then a couple more. He was certainly inquisitive!

"Slow down there Kiketsu-kun!
" she said with a laugh. "Okay. First question. You need to come from a special Hyoton clan to be able to create ice. That much I know. However, I'm not sure if a skilled Water element shinobi can control it... because, after all, ice is made of water. You'd be better off asking a Suiton ninjutsu specialist. Also, about kinjutsu, I'm sorry." Cassie's eyes twinkled. "It's not in my authority to tell you. Maybe a higher authority might. Finished too?" With a flourish, Cassie produced the hand seals leaflet.

"You need to really know the seals,"
she said. "And by know, I mean make them quickly and accurately. Be able to string them together immediately. This part of the course is tedious, I know. But we'll be moving on to much more physical stuff later! Besides, this stuff is the pillar of all ninjutsu," she said, and now she was addressing the whole class. "If you don't master this properly you will never be able to execute a single jutsu."

Hiru's reaction completely changed when he saw another book offered to him. He had just finished reading one and it had been far from easy. Hiru first gazed at the pamphlet in Cassie-sensei's hand for a few seconds, while she answered the other student's questions. Jjust as she sat down at her desk, he timidly walked up yo her.

"Cassie-sensei... do you think you could show me the hand seals yourself... I-I've never been really good at reading things but if you show me I can do the same much more easily...", he whispered to her, partly ashamed by the feeling of not being able to do as well as the others and also to take some of sensei's time because he wasn't as witty as his classmates...

"I promis it'll be quick, I'm much better at more hands on things than theory!", he added, hoping his lack of intelligence could be compensated by other of his abilities.
