Crenu took a bit from his sandwich and swallowed hit mouthfull. "Nothing happened. Nothing bad anyway. I told you Ky, I've awakened from my old life, broken out of the shell of illusion that I once lived in. I want ultamite Power Ky, and now I know how to get that power." He took another bite from his sandwich and glared back at Ky and then at M.A., he knew that things were not going to be the same between them now. A small flivker of light lit in his soul, but was quickly extinguished by the surounding ice. "I'm going to become the strongest there ever was, and nothing will stand in my way."

Nina landed in Cerulean, swinging her feet to one side and sliding off of Krystal, a big grin on her face. She scratched behind her Pokemon's ears, causing a happy cooo! to come from the Dragon. Raimundo jumped down from Fearow, landing with the grace of a ninja, while Whitney made a much less graceful landing with Rio-- the heads were fighting with one another, causing the girl to nearly tumble off. She recalled the bird, yelling at the Pokeball that contained it afterwards; Nina and Raimundo recalled their Pokemon as well.

In the midst of this commotion, Mihoshi spotted Nina, and made a repeat divebomber performance, like she did to Kilik. Nina caught her Pokemon, nearly being knocked over from the impact, and snuggled her cheek against Mihoshi's, giggling a little bit. "So? Did you make sure that Kilik got his stuff?" The egg Pokemon chirped, playing with the scarf that she had adopted, causing Nina to laugh a little bit. "Good job, Mimi. Really!" She smiled, noticing that her Pokemon had taken interest in her scarf. "Oh, you like that?" she asked. "Well, tell you what. You can have it-- how's that sound?" Grinning as her Pokemon played with the clothing, she scratched underneath her chin.

"You did awesome, Mihoshi. But, I've gotta put you inside your PC box for a little while, okay? I promise I'll keep in touch with you."
Nodding, signaling that she understood, Mihoshi fluttered into the Pokemon Center with Nina. She was deposited back into the PC after another good-bye. "And, speaking of Pokemon to keep in touch with," Nina said, looking at her belt and snatching a Pokeball, "I haven't heard from Anna all day today." She released the Ghost, wearing a bit of a grin on her face.

"Gah! It's about time, you harlot. I thought I'd never see the light of day again."

No, this was definately not the same Crenu as the one she had initially met.

M.A. now knew what had driven him into that darkness that seemed to shroud his heart and mind -- a lust for power. Ultimate power, he said. What drove him to this? Would he. . . was he pushing everything away for the power he wanted? And how far would he go for it? That scared her. Still, maybe. . . Maybe it wasn't as bad as she thought it was. Maybe this would all blow over. It wasn't too late or anything. That side of Crenu, that one who had ran up to Ky and given him such a brotherly hug-like gesture just yesterday, had to be in there somewhere -- he couldn't have frozen over completely, right? "Don't throw everything away, Crenu," Mary-Anne finally spoke quietly and uncertainly, hazel eyes meeting his icy glare. Again, she felt that wave of coldness, that intangible, heartless aura. She wasn't sure that she had worded her thought quite right, but its essence was in the right place. Would he throw away his emotions, his heart, his friends?

"Thank you," Mitsu said with a slight nod of her head. She gratefully accepted the box and tucked it away inside her bag. She looked up at Nightmare, "Oh come here, you," she laughed seeing a slightly disappointed look written upon his face. With incredible speed the Gyrados lowered his head and nearly knocked Mitsu over. He was practically begging for a hug. She gave him the closest thing to a hug that she could manage. Nightmare eyed Flannery as well causing Mitsu to laugh. "I think Nightmare wants a hug from you too," she laughed, "and don't worry, he doesn't bite. People at least."

Crenu stopped eating, dropping his food on the plate and standing up to better face M.A. "Throw everything away? Throw everything away!? I have nothing to throw away! All my life I've had nothing worth anything to me! Anything and Everything I've ever had to care for and cherish died long ago!” His anger flared for a split second and his voice boomed like thunder, his glare cracked like lighting hitting a tree. And just as quickly as it came, the anger went. “All I have from those days is my Larvitar. Nothing else matters to me… and Larvitar wants the power that I seek as well. I know he does, because as long as I will seek this power he too will seek it with me.” He stared down at Larviar and his glare softened. His voice became calmer, but retained some of it's sternness. Larvitar looked up at him and met his gaze, then continued eating.

"I missed you too, idiot," Nina said with a bit of a chuckle. "Um, I know you did." Anna grinned. "So, tell me. What'd I miss?" The girl escorted her Pokemon to the door as she started to talk. "Well, not a whole lot really. The only thing that's really gone on today is that I went back for that battle with Jasmine, and..."

"Yeah, and?" Anna asked. "How'd it go?" Nina grinned broadly as she stepped outside. "Krystal beat her Steelix. I don't have the slightest clue as to how she did it-- that thing looked tough.
"Well, you've trained us better than you think, Nina. You really aren't the terrible trainer that you believe you are. You need to have a little more confidence in yourself, and you'll succeed more often, I promise!"
Another smile. "I love the pep talks that you give me, Anna."
"Yeah, well. That's part of what I'm here for, I guess." She returned the smile. "But anyway. What's on the agenda now?"

"I'm off to catch a Clefairy!" she announced proudly. "Then, I'm thinking of maybe going for another badge, or at least fighting another trainer."
"Do you like, want my opinion, or somethin'?" Whitney chimed in.
"No. Nobody ever wants your opinion. Now go play near a waterfall." Nina stared at her Pokemon. "Anna!" She swung at the Misdreavus to attempt to hit it, but of course her hand passed directly through the amorphous Pokemon. "Cheap," she grumbled.
Anna stuck her tongue out at Nina, then looked back to Whitney. "Of course, I'd love to hear what you have to say, Whitney. I'm just giving you a hard time."

She chuckled a bit. "Like, okay. I think that you should like, fight a couple of trainers first. That way, according to my logic, your Pokemon would like, be better prepared for another Gym match. Make sense?"

Nina and Anna looked at eachother, baffled. A moment later, they had a mental conversation.
'I think?' According? Logic? Prepared? Where is she learning these words?

Psht, heck if I know! Can she read?
Anna, don't joke like that.

"It's my pleasure," Flannery nodded, laughing at the antics of the large Gyarados. Steeling herself, Flannery stepped forward, and reached out, gently patting the side of his head. "You're nothing but a big cuddle muffin under all those tough scales, aren't you?" she cooed, also giving Nightmare the best hug she could manage.

"So what do you plan on doing next?" Flannery asked, looking around her gym. Aside from the damp floor, there was hardly any damage. This pleased her.

As Ky witnessed Crenu's anger, his heart sank. Ky knew that something was wrong, but nothing of this magnitude even came to him as a thought. "Crenu, sorry. I never knew," Ky said in a soft voice. "But, what do you mean by 'absolute power'? You've never mentioned it before. I don't understand," Ky said. "And what do you mean 'nothing else matters?' You can't say that; it doesn't make sense. I already know that you want to be a great trainer, and you can be, but I don't think that's what you're saying. What are you saying?!" Ky's voice was rising as well, but it was mainly due to confusion. He hated not knowing what was going on, especially with a friend he so deeply respected.

Nightmare gave a low almost cooing growl in response. It was an obvious yes. "I'm probably going to train my Pokemon, especially the new Horsea I got recently. I've somehow managed to dish out a win against Winnoa earlier, but I don't think I'm anywhere near ready for Tate and Liza," Mitsu replied to Flannery's question. Tate and Liza deserve a good match, win or lose I won't give up without a fight. It's the least I can do to repay them . . .

There was more, of course, like her future exploits of the forest legend. This though, she hadn't planned on telling anyone, or at the least not yet. The battle had considerably picked up her mood. Both Flannery and Mike are lucky she thought to herself feeling a slight tug at the heart strings. The slight moment of sadness washed over her before disappearing the next. "How about we exchange Pokenav numbers? That way I can call you that rematch," she said a grin on her face.

Keegan stared at the computer screen, blinking in confusion. There, in the first box, a familiar icon blinked at him. Mumbling incoherently to himself, he clicked on it, and dragged it to the 'party' section of the screen. A red and white Poke Ball materialized in the tray next to him, and he stared at it, wondering if this was for real. Very slowly he picked it up, and turned to head outside, only remembering at the last minute to log out of the computer.

Once outdoors again, he continued to stare at the Poke Ball in his hand, finally clicking it once to enlarge it, and then a second time to release its contents onto the ground in front of him.

The young Ponyta standing before him was nothing short of beautiful. She stood a little over three feet tall, not including the flames that danced in place of her mane on her well-arched neck. Her short, soft fur was a creamy white colour, and her eyes were big, and a nice shade of blue that reminded Keegan of a sapphire. Her face was expressive as well, and she seemed a little shy, pawing the ground with a hoof and trying not to look at him. The boy, having a well-trained eye for this sort of thing walked around her, examining her closely. Her body was compact, yet her build was rather refined. Her four legs, although a little scrawny as of yet were strong-looking, already having built up a decent amount of muscle. Her shoulders were laid back, and her withers were perfectly defined. Her tail flames burned brightly, signaling that she was indeed quite healthy.

"Why hello there," he said softly, quite taken in by her bright blue eyes. He gently stroked the filly's muzzle. "My name is Keegan, it's nice to meet you."

The Ponyta blinked at him a few times, and now took her turn to examine him. As far as humans go, he must have been good enough, because she pranced a bit on the spot, circling him and sniffing at his hands. So this is what my parents meant by surprising me, he thought, feeling both guilty and excited at the same time. He knew they meant well, but somehow he couldn't shake the crushing despair that they wanted him to just forget all about Helios.

A memory of the Vulpix blasting Wattson's Magnemite into next week with his powerful Flamethrower played in his mind, and Keegan shook his head. It didn't matter what Pokemon came into his life, he would never forget the bond he shared with Helios.

"Like, hello? Nina? Are you spacing out on me again?"
"Oh, no," Nina replied. "Sorry. You've actually got a good idea, Whit."
"I know I do," she said with a bit of a proud grin, as if she had just unlocked some magical, mysterious puzzle. "Wait. What do you mean that I actually have a good idea?!"
"All that she meant was that you had a better idea than she did," Rai interjected, looking to the blue-haired girl. "Right, Nina?" She nodded in response. "Right. And now that we've got a plan, whatsay we go enact it? I've got a Pokemon to catch!" A grin crept onto her face that rivaled the one Whitney had been wearing just moments earlier.

The team headed westward, having to maneuver their way around multiple "obnoxiously large roadbump hurdle thingies," as Whitney had dubbed them. After a bit of hurdle-hopping, Nina and company found themselves at the mouth of a large-sized cave. "Aha!" she exclaimed, "This is it-- Mount Moon!"
Raimundo inched closer towards the entrance, raising an eyebrow. "It looks pretty dark in there, Nina. I mean, it's not super pitch black or anything, but how did you plan on getting around? None of your Pokemon can really generate a light source."

She blinked. "Oh. Uhm. Wow. I guess that I hadn't factored that in. I was too excited to actually get a Clefairy that I didn't plan out details like that." The boy ran his hand along his belt, and unclipped the Pokeball he was looking for. "That," he said, "is why I'm here. Come on out, Crater!" He released the Magcargo, who seemed to be rather at ease as always. "See, Crater here's special ability is called Flame Body. That means that if he gets directly struck by an attack, he might be able to burn the Pokemon that hit him. It also means that he naturally glows a bit lighter than other Magcargo do."

Nina looked impressed, and nodded her head a little. "Pretty swift, Rai. It's good I've got someone here who can think." She chuckled a bit, especially at the fact that Whitney didn't realize she was at the butt end of that joke. Raimundo led the girls into the cave, Crater at his side.

"That sounds good to me," the gym leader nodded, disappearing into a back room for a moment and coming out with her own PokeNav. "Keep up the training, Mitsu. You're a great trainer." The tall gym leader placed a gentle hand on the girl's shoulder and nodded. "I'm really looking forward to that rematch someday." She gave Mitsu her number, while entering the latter's into her contact list.

"No matter what you do, don't give up, because that's the first step to losing," she told Mitsu in a manner that was almost big-sisterly. "Take care of yourself."

"I don't want to be great trainer Ky, I want to be the strongest, the most powerfull trainer ever. I want to have all the power in the world, the kind of power that can let you do anything. The kind of pwer that will let you save anyone, the kind of power that lets you cheat fate itself. You wouldn't understand Ky.What I seek is only for me. I almost Lost to Falkner, and I pretty much lost to that Rocket. I'm never going to lose again Ky, and I don't care who I have to fight in order to do that. This is my resolve, and my pokemon are mearly tools that will get me to the pinacle of power that I seek."

With his outburst of anger, M.A. had been stunned to silence. What was this pain? What had happened to him?

A rare, deep crease fell upon M.A.'s brow, and that elusive frown placed itself firmly on her lips. Had Crenu gone nuts? All the power in the world? Cheating fate? No, it wasn't that he was crazy. Power-crazy, perhaps. But. . . she hadn't counted on his lust for power being so frighteningly strong. It was as if he wanted enough power to step upon the world with his right foot and stop its rotation. Sure, being the greatest trainer out there wasn't an uncommon dream, but the way he said it, the way he planned to hold this power so ardently. . .

She was frozen, unsure of what to say. "No," she frantically shook her head. "No, listen to yourself, Crenu!" Her voice, too, was growing louder. Something would go terribly wrong if he didn't stop himself. She could feel that. "Pokemon are tools? Please, listen to yourself and stop!" Panic turned to pleading.

"Oh M.A. you are so naive." Crenu looked at his pokemon who had finished eating and called them back into their pokeballs. "Tch. I've had enough of this conversation. It's clear that you guys don't understand or support my ambition. I'm outta here." Crenu Cracked his neck loudly, then slowly started walking to the exit past Ky and M.A. Their words were somewhat strange to him now, as if their plee lit the fire of his soul again. This fire hurt him now and so he wanted to get out of their as quick as possible and stop this lively burning inside him.
